H&S roofing replaced our entire roof in 3 days. They gave clear expectations prior to beginning the work which was extremely helpful. They were careful around our house to be as clean and quiet as possible. Jim Strahan provided me with the exact process from start to finish - worked with my insurance company - and followed up through out the process. If you are like me and you only read the fist page of reviews, that is not a good idea in this case. I wish I would have went a little further reading the reviews before I hired this company. If you like to argue that is exactly what you will get TO THIS DAY (07/16/21)! Customer service is horrible and despite all of their mistakes, Steve, Lee and Kathryn insisted that it was all my fault... LIKE I INSTALLED THE ROOF!Furthermore, this is the WORST ROOFING COMPANY you could ever imagine. DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT HIRE! If I could give 0 stars, I would! Hired them in February 2021 to replace my roof and add gutters, It is now July and as of this morning Kathryn said that someone will come out today to finish it. They replaced the roof in March, it looked BEYOND TERRIBLE. They came back to fix it, It still looked terrible. They sent Dillon out to fix it again, he put on the wrong colored shingles ( Now the roof is 2 different colors). The manager, Lee decided the roof that they installed was so horrible that they would just take it off and Re-do it. YES, RE-DO THE WHOLE ROOF! They sent another crew to do the Roof in May and less than a month later, ITS LEAKING! So they sent Charles out to repair that. Refused to pay for the damages caused from the leak. Both crews left cigarettes and trash in the yard, they left the trailer back up to my porch for almost 3 days. I couldnt even walk up the steps. And when they were done, they left the shingles in the front yard. My son and I had to carry them away. AND SHINGLES ARE HEAVY!!!!! This is a Circus! Lee is avoiding my calls, they are all giving me the run around but here it is 5 months later and they are still working on my roof. And all they do is act like Im a problem for them.

Dillon did the repairs on our roof. Very professional, explained what he would be doing. When he finished, he had taken many photos and showed me exactly where and what he did for the repairs. Dillon also showed me many roof tiles that were worn away. Excellent service and repairs.

Ive had one shingle sticking up on my roof for a while from a storm, which our roofing company has not come to fix in months. I had a total roof inspection performed by H & S Roofing. The representative who did the inspection and provided the estimate for the repair was Derek McMillion. He was on time , courteous , professional , and detailed in his inspection feedback. The reason I continue to use H & S Roofing is due to representatives like Derek McMillion. I would highly recommend H & S to anyone who wants a professional roofing opinion.

I inherited a frustrating situation with a newer shingles but failing flashing and vent collars. I struggled to find a contractor who wanted the small job on my steep roof (1.5 story house). H&S Roofing was prompt and attentive to detail. The detailed estimate helped me understand exactly which parts of the roof would be replaced and the extent to which unforeseen issues would be covered in the estimate. My shingles were discontinued, so H&S cautioned me that the match might not be perfect, but from the street, the difference is not at all visible. The work crew was polite and did a good job cleaning up, too.

Our roof was damaged after a bad storm in June and thankfully we were referred to H&S. I would highly, highly recommend their service for anything in the home related to your roof. We received an extremely competitive estimate for replacing our roof and the crew was out about 2 days later to get to work. I thought it would have taken them a couple days to complete the job but they were able to replace the entire roof in one day! It even rained sporadically through the day a couple times and they didnt quit until the job was done. The crew was super friendly and professional and Randi was a pleasure to work with. They showed up and were extremely knowledgeable. We were impressed with his understanding of our roofline and where and how rain collected and flowed down through our gutter system. More importantly, he understood where and why we were having issues. We got our quote, reasonably priced and the right solution, and then complete darkness. We reached out again, nothing. The last time we reached out, the response was I know, Im sorry... someone will be in touch soon.After a few weeks, they finally got back to us and did a great job finishing the project. COVID has made doing business difficult and they helped me understand how it has affected them. They did a great job redeeming themselves.

Disappointing.....I made an appt on 5/29 for some to come out on 6/25. Steve came out and was great, got an estimate back on 7/1. I signed and returned. Estimate for work to start was 2-3 weeks due to busy schedules. No problem. Finally after no communication I reached out on 9/1 with an email to Daisy - no response. I then emailed Steve - no responseI was excited to get a vm from Randy on 9/22 saying they were delayed and items were back ordered. OkSo more time passes and I get a email from Dawn on 12/21 saying a tech was in the area and could come to do the job, just let them know if it was ok to proceed but I didnt need to be home. So it was Christmas week - I did not want the work done that week. So I immediately called the office - I got a recording that they were with customers - leave a vm. So I left a vm saying it was a bad week with the holiday to do the work and if someone could please call me about the proposal since so much time had passed. I went to work and came home at 3pm to find a tech in my front yard with my old gutters off the house. Disappointed and upset I called the office and spoke to Dawn. She told me she never received my vm and it was not her fault that the tech took the work order out of his box and left to do the job. Well I guess I forgot I was the customer. I asked her to go read my file that started on 5/29 and call me back. She called me back and left me a vm saying she was sorry and that she would send me a $25 gift card in the mail for my issues. That was the end. What they did get right was send me the bill a day later. It doesnt even matter that the $25 gift card never came. I realize we are in a pandemic - but simple communication would have solved this and not to have someone like Dawn speak to me so poorly on the phone.

Every person I have talked to and interacted with at this company was accommodating, professional, and followed through on what they promised in the timeline stated. Great team- recommend to anyone!

We got a quote for roof repair from Dan H. At first he quoted us for 3tab and it was a great deal, we asked for an architectural shingles quote to, so he then retypedt quote and sent us over another quote for 3tab and for architectural. We chose the 3 tab shingles, get a call from him today saying the quote was wrong for the 3 tab and he doesnt know what happened but now its going to be another $5000 on top of the previous quote. Needless to say, we cancelled the order and will be taking our business elsewhere. I get that people make mistakes but a $5000 dollar price difference is crazy.Update: Im changing my review from 1 star to 3 based on the fact that someone from their office called and apologized, it was a very sincere apology. We understand people deserve 2nd chances and will consider using H&S in the future if needed.

H&S Roofing is the best Roofing and Gutter company in our area. The level of customer service and professionalism that I have experienced over the past 12 years is unheard of in our present day world!Ned, Pam, Larry, April and the gentlemen that have come out to do work at our home have all gone above and beyond to make sure that we are happy with their work.I referred H&S to 2 of my elderly neighbors. Ned personally visited them and worked up the quotes. It is so nice to be able to trust Ned to take care of my neighbors! I have not dealt with a more reputable company in a long, long time. Having to depend on making decisions on my own, I rely on the honestly and knowledge of others. My first experience with this company resulted in a necessary repair which was fair in cost and corrected my problem! This last visit, Derek gave me sound advice about a roofing/ceiling issue at no charge to me. I highly recommend the people and services this company provides!

I was concerned about a few spots that I thought could be leaks. H & S had a wait time (because they are so popular) until they could send someone out to check. They said they would call if there was a cancellation, and sure enough, they did! Billy came out. He was on time, friendly, and professional. He was able to quickly assess two areas as being unrelated to roof leaks. He comprehensively investigated the third area, going up into the attic, and then outside on the roof. He didnt feel there was any issue with the roof, although he was nice enough to fix a small area with a nail that needed attention. His advice was to keep a watch on the area on the ceiling over the next several rains, and see if it grows. He was reassuring about the roof in general, pointing out that it had normal aging, but nothing in need of immediate attention. He didnt try to scare me into doing anything. It is wonderful to have a local business such as H & S - that is skilled, trustworthy and reliable. And most of all, run with integrity!

Our experience was amazing. They were responsive, professional, and reasonable. They were able to diagnose our problem with the leaking roof and sent an experienced person to make the necessary repairs. If 0 stars were available I would pick that. The worse roofing company in town. Had a emergency fix on my third floor before the storm and they did not fix it right. I now have a hole in my ceiling with a terrible leak that soaked my couch. Customer service was terrible. Mary was very rude on the phone and they were not willing to correct their mistake the day I called. I switched to a better roofing company who was much nicer and willing to help quicker. They did not even offer to return my money for making a mistake on our roof. Do not waste your time calling them for service. Definitely not quality service compared to other roofing companies in town.

H & S Roofing was recommended by my realtor when I first purchased my home - 5 years ago. I had them perform some small repairs on my roof in hopes of getting a little more service out of it. At the time I purchased my home, I was told by the general home inspector that the roof would need replacement within 2 years. He also recommended that I contact H & S Roofing. Bill Thompson came out and recommended the repairs needed to keep me dry. I did what they called complete maintenance and they basically sealed everything and made sure there wasnt any missing shingles. Well... My roof lasted over 4 years without a problem. I then developed a small leak. I called H & S back out again and they did a temporary repair for me and told me it was time to replace the roof. I was happy that I had gotten 4 years out of the roof, when I was initially thinking I would only get 2 years. I was pleased with H & S and Bill Thompson. I have found this company to be honest and dependable with each call. I have just had my brand new roof installed and it is beautiful! The roofers were hard working and respectful of my property. I am now considering new gutters with the leaf covers. Call this company!!

Have used this roofing company in the past. Larry Portanova, their estimator, is excellent to work with. Previously had fixed small defects to make roofing last as long as possible. Never tried to oversell. Presented fair pricing when a complete, new re-roofing became inevitable, along with some gutter adjustment and replacement of water damaged fascia boards.The roofing men worked steadily and hard to complete job in three days. They were careful to clean up site, including scattered nails using magnets. Scott very skillfully repaired the fascia board and adjusted the gutters. Result was very attractive. Definitely satisfied and will continue to use H&S Roofing & Gutter Co. for other roofing or gutter projects (including periodic cleaning).

The roofer came out and repaired the places on our roof that were leaking and he was very friendly. It was right a the beginning of the COVID-19 ordeal and I really felt so bad for him because he was supposed to be getting married and they had just announced there couldnt be any groups of people getting together. I just hope after all the ORDEAL is over they have a wonderful Wedding and an even better Marriiage!!! I never had a problem getting touch with them either via phone or email and I got rapid responses. I had a small amount of rutter repair and he came out and got it done and I didnt get outside to meet him , but he did an excellent job!!

We had our roof done in April of 2017 and after reviewing several quotes decided to entrust the work to H&S Roofing. We were not disappointed!After awarding the work to H&S Roofing we received information that their scheduler would be in touch with us in a few days. We were advised a few days later on when the work would start and that it would take 3-4 days. We followed the H&S instructions on preparing for their work. Several workman appeared on time on the agreed upon day. The work was completed ahead of schedule something highly unusual given the scarcity of qualified construction workers. Every evening the entire area surrounding the house was cleaned; all debris cleared and hauled away. The workers were professional, friendly, orderly and courteous at all times.While the roof was being done we also had some work entrusted to a general contractor and his opinion was that the work was done very well and the result more than acceptable.Our overall experience with H&S Roofing was excellent and we recommend this firm highly.

Called H&S roofing to have an estimate done for a leaks. They showed up on time and provided an estimate within 24 hr. Derek was very professional. The same goes for the person who did the repair. This was a small job. Satisfied with the results and will use them again if needed .

I called H&R Roofing about a water leak around a gas vent pipe above my roof. Derek McMillion with H&S Roofing came out to give me a repair estimate, but he took care of the problem on the spot. The vent pipe on this 3 year old house had never been property sealed. Derek was prompt and very professional. He explained to me exactly what he found and what he was going to do to correct the problem, as I watched from the ground. I was very pleased with the result. I, and other members of my family have used H&S Roofing for over 20 years, and I have always found them to be very professional and very reasonable. I contacted your office about a leak in my roof near the chimney that happened just a few days ago. It was near where repairs by H&S had occurred 6 months earlier. Before my scheduled inspection date Craig called and said he could stop by and take a look. He came today... On a sunny, humid, 95 degree day. A couple of trips into the attic, a couple of trips up on the roof, and about an hours time appears to have fixed the new leak.Thanks for helping with the original repair and with this follow up. Please let Craig know as well as your management team how I really appreciate the service and attention. You have a customer for life.

This company is always on time for scheduled appointments, always send the same employee so establish a relationship, stand by their work 100% or it is fixed again at no cost. The telephone staff is also excellent.

H and S roofing was great at coming to the job and giving an estimate immediately. We were in a hurry since a tree limb had fallen on the house. The contractors were good at getting the job started but one of them stepped thru ceiling twice. This damaged the sheet rock and created a mess inside the house. H and S promised to pay for the repair but never did.They did the work without pulling a permit and the city called me weeks later to ask me why the permit was not pulled. The company then pulled the permit but said because they had to pay for a permit the sheet rock repair would not be paid for.My main issue is the lack of professionalism with their office staff. My bill was incorrect multiple times and I had to keep calling back to get it corrected. Bill, my main contact would promise one thing and the office staff would never come through.They threatened to send the bill to collections without ever fixing the mistakes on the bill. There is a huge miscommunication within their staff and I would be very careful about hiring them.

Just had H&S replace the flat roof over our den. From the very detailed quote we received from Ned, to the office staff that kept us up to date on the scheduling of our project, to the crew that installed the roof, they were all outstanding. The crew arrived on time, was courtous and professional, the job was completed on-time and they left our yard impeccably clean.I would highly recomend H&S to my family and friends.

H & S Roofing was one of four estimates that I got for a new roof. They were not the cheapest or most expensive. The reason that I choose to go with them is that they are the only ones that actually got on the roof to evaluate my situation. My thought was, if the other three estimators were too lazy to get on the roof, then chances are that mentality carries over to the rest of the company. My new roof is about two weeks old, has made it through one night of thunderstorms with no leaks. I wish I would have checked these reviews before I had anything to do with H&S. We have had horrible service from them, including below standard work. We paid in full (promptly) for 2 repairs. Both exact same areas have started leaking again with in 6 months. They do not stand by their work and are nearly impossible to reach. When my drapes collapsed because of wet sheetrock (on JUNE 6) in the first area that they supposedly repaired, they came out the next day and found another problem. Since June 6 (its not July 14), we have been trying to get them here for more than 6 weeks to actually repair this new problem. They never return calls or emails in a timely fashion and the dont come when they say they are supposed to. For this issue, they sent an email confirming they would be here today at 8 am to repair the new problem. Of course, they rolled in until around 9:30. Then, they were here for less than one hour, and they left. stating they did not have a tall enough ladder with them to do the job, but would be right back. This is a job they have already done once, and been here three other times - 2 estimates and a stop gap repair until they could get here. The roof did get any taller during that time, so not sure why they would not bring the correct equipment to actually perform the work. Their roofer (who didnt arrive until 9:30 am --not 8), left before 10:30 to get the taller ladder. Its now 2:30 (4hours later), and no one has come back or communicated with us about where they are or when they will be back. We relied on them to fix the problem the first time and spent $$ separate from the amount we paid them to have the sheetrock and trim repaired and painted. Then the leak came right back (we will have to pay again to have that same work done again). Despite the fact that they were paid and cost us additional money (which will be spent again for the same other derivative repairs from the leak), they still are not here. Do not use them. You will not be satisfied with the work, and as others on here have mentioned, you definitely will not be satisfied with there professionalism. We have built 2 homes and worked with countless contractors, they are among the worst we have dealt with in 16 years of living in Charlotte. I intend to make sure everyone in my neighborhood and of my acquaintance is aware of the fact that they should be avoided. Maybe they used to be good, but that is no longer the case.

Guy was scheduled to arrive at 4:30...didnt show up until almost 6 and then said hed back in the morning before 9am to take pictures and never showed, no phone call, nothing. Then he calls that evening around 5pm saying hell be at my house in a few minutes. (what?) This company has no regard for customers time. Its been almost a week ago since they initially came out and I still have yet to receive a written bid. They have wasted too much of my time and Im moving on.

Ive had to work with roofers in the past and H & S is by far THE BEST! I would definitely recommend and call them again!DeeDee was so nice & helpful coordinating the appointment and scheduled a visit within a reasonable timeframe, which I appreciate.I had the pleasure of meeting with Billy from H&S Roofing. Hes awesome! He was very prompt and professional. This roofing company really knows what they are doing. I had several roofing companies come out and the only one who actually climbed up onto the roof was Billy from H & M Roofing. He accurately diagnosed the problem and made a fair estimate. Once the job was completed, my roof never leaked again, in spite of several heavy rains.

The gentlemen who work for H & S Roofing are always prompt, polite, professional and proficient in all the work that they do. I have been a client for many years and have always been pleased with their performance.

H & S Roofing did a great job on our roof. They worked very diligently, the crew was very careful around my gardens and was sure to keep the gate shut ( I have small dogs ). They did a wonderful job and I would highly recommend them to others.

H&S Roofing does not stand behind its product. Our roof has leaked constantly since we had it installed. They either did not fix it properly or claimed that there was no problem.

H & S did my roof last year before selling my house. They showed up on time, worked hard and did a good job cleaning up. I have had them clean the gutters at my new house and make a repair to my ridge. This is my go-to roofer for any problem I have with my gutters or roof.

We have to redo all of the 13 THOUSAND dollars worth of work that h&s did. The engineer they work with stated the work they did was fine. Two UNAFILLIATED engineers stated that their engineer must not care about his license. Craig Farlow and Bill Thompson both stated they messed up our job, and they would install a different (the original) roof structure if they could go back in time.They then state the roof is sound—even if that were the case, their 13k of ROOF work is causing us to have to spend TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS on newly created foundation issues. But no worries, they just do roofs so the foundation is none of their concern. And no we shouldn’t complain, as they convinced us that rafters would be fine—they’re not. And yes the city passed it, but only bc they got their friend the engineer to write up a super confusing and unclear letter that the city told me they had no choice but to accept (tho two of their inspectors disagree with the findings but the engineer has final call).They are the supposed expert GC and they did not know that changing the roof structure from trusses to stickbuilt would create load bearing walls, which the current foundation wasn’t built to support . Either deceitful and unethical, or else just plain incompetent, contractors—Ned, Bill, and Craig. They anticipate no problems with the roof, but now we have to worry about the foundation, which wasn’t an issue before, and could have easily been avoided by installing rafters like the rest of the house.No worries tho, they gave us a measly 5% discount and threatened collections on us for the mess they created.

Called me back months later demanding money because they forgot to charge sales tax. Lied and said they had emailed about this. Good work on the gutters, but terrible business practices and zero stars on customer service, AVOID.

Worst customer service! If you are looking for someone to yell at you on the phone call Mary from H&S Roofing! One should not be working on customer service if they dont know how to be nice to their customers. Very disappointed with this business and wont be using them and will make sure that my family and friends do the same!

I would not recommend using H&S Roofing for anything paid for out of pocket, because they do not stand behind their work.Larry performed a roof inspection for us in April on the home we purchased. At final walk through we noticed a significant amount of water overflowing from the gutter, from a rain the previous afternoon. When I called to ask if anything was wrong with the gutters during the visual inspection that didnt make it onto the inspection report I was told it really didnt matter since it was only a visual inspection and sometimes things get missed. Considering they charged $195 I would expect the inspector to at least notice if the gutters are badly clogged and make a note on the report. Concerned at being told it didnt matter, I escalated my complaint, and the next person I spoke to disagreed and said that they took no responsibility for anything that may have happened subsequent to the inspection.The gutter cleaning company I called out confirmed that these must have been clogged for quite some time---there are not even any trees in the immediate vicinity of the house so the buildup was prolonged.

H&S has taking care of the slate roof and gutters on my 1906 house for about 20 years. Responsive to my needs and never had to call them back.

5 week wait time just to have someone come out and give an estimate and a $75 fee just to look at my gutters.. no thanks

Horrible. Stay far away. They did an absolutely horrible job and are costing us a lot of money.
