Very happy with the service I’ve received here! I’ve brought my VW in a few times. Once for an oil change, once for an engine light check and once to replace a break light. Had an issue with my engine during my travels from jersey to Charleston. In the process of moving here from Washington, DC, I hit some road debris during a detour off 95 in rural South Carolina. I was a bit leery about driving the car, as the check engine light came on, and the tire sensor warning came on, and the temperature gauge on the dash went out completely...on inspection I noticed some wires hanging down under the engine behind the front bumper, and some loose hanging plastic components. I called Ottohaus, and Chris was very helpful, and got me (the car) an appointment very quickly. I took the car in, and they had it up on a lift within fifteen minutes, and it wasnt long before Jason brought me into the shop to show me what was going on, and what the repairs would entail. Jason was very helpful, and explained everything that he thought it would need to fix the issues. Twenty minutes after that they came to me with an estimated cost to do the work, and how long it would take to get the parts, and complete the work. The cost estimate was within 63 dollars, and the work was done by close of business the day before the estimated completion date. They say that the hardest things to find when you move to a new city are a good mechanic, and a good hairdresser. I found a great mechanic, and auto shop in Ottohaus, but the hairdresser is yet to be found. I will take my car back to Ottohaus without hesitation, and for now, I will make due with my grey hair.

I purchased an Audi A4 used and needed the 95K service. I called Audi of Charleston and was quoted at least $400 or more for the service. A friend who owns a car dealership referred me to Ottohaus so I called them for the same service. I was quoted $160 for the SAME service! Plus they rotated my tires for me as part of the service. Kris was very professional, knowledgeable and helpful and I could tell they appreciated my business. Their location was clean and they had plenty of room for people to wait and still social distance, free wifi to use, a clean restroom, and bottled water available. Everyone there was very nice and it was a pleasant experience. I highly recommend Ottohaus and will not take my business anywhere else. Thank you Kris and team for your help with my A4! I will definitely be back in 10K miles when I need service again. :-)

Ottohaus provided me the best service I’ve had on my Mercedes since I’ve been in Charleston. I called in because my check engine light came on and they were able to get me in with a specialized Mercedes tech within 48 hours. When I arrived the tech diagnosed my problem with minutes. They gave me their recommendations and I was out of there in no time. They are affordable and care about their clients. If you drive a German made vehicle and need a specialist this is your shop. Covered repair. I also went in a week later for help clipping my rear view mirror back on the windshield which I had pulled off inadvertently. They took care of it right away without charge. Theyre very helpful and professional.

Great company!!! I have a 2007 beetle and have brought it in several times now. Everyone is super nice and friendly! They are very efficient and can usually fit me into their schedule whenever. I am home this weekend from college and had a headlight out, and they were able to work me in with a 30 minute notice. 10/10 would recommend for any VW needs and wouldn’t go anywhere else!!

Friendly and polite staff with decent prices. However they are very busy and seem to take on more work than they can actually accomplish, which forces longer work times or forgetting about you completely. They seem like good people and Id really like to give them my business, but waiting weeks for a call back or taking days to do a job that takes a few hours is not a good business model.

My wife and I were vacationing in Charleston in our 95 VW camper. On the last day of our stay, the serpentine belt broke. After two hours of calling every VW dealer and repair shop in the area, we realized it would take days to get the part. Kris Mclawhorn, Ottohaus service specialist, allowed us to be towed to their facility, leave our vehicle there and we flew flew home to NJ. No one else wanted to help us, but he was great. I would recommend Kris and his staff to anyone. Our camper was fixed in only a couple days and I am flying back to pick it up. Kris made everything easy for us at a difficult time. Also they have the cleanest auto shop we have ever seen.

Josh came right out and assisted me with my situation. He was respectful, timely, and genuine. Josh’s knowledge of my Volkswagen Golf was awesome and he had me in and out in about 30 minutes. He helped me during a stressful time. The customer service he provided was great. Awesome experience. Made me feel comfortable and welcome unlike a lot of other shops. My husband and I were in SC on vacation (from MI) when our van wouldn’t start - and it wasn’t the battery. We were a bit desperate as we were planning to drive back home about 40 hours later. My husband called Ottohaus and was impressed right away. They were willing to take our van and look at it right away. Due to towing delays, it arrived after hours and they diagnosed next day. It was a bad starter. Within 24 hours of discovering our plight, we were back on the road! Amazing, so helpful, professional, and quick! If we lived in Charleston, this would be our go-to shop! I was well received after communicating that I wouldn be on time for an impromptu appointment. I needed an SRS light reset after a camera install I made a mistake on. Kris and the other technicians were polite, and very prompt! The icing on the cake was that I am preparring the vehicle for military transfer across the states and he did not charge me for the reset. The most reliable and honest place I’ve ever taken my vehicles. Amazing customer service and always getting my cars repaired in a timely manner, while saving me money in the process. I needed a new bulb for a tail light. They fit me right in that day, and greeted me as soon as I got out of my car. As I waited (a very short wait), I watched as they helped other customers. They were very courteous and made sure each person understood what needed to be done to their car. Everyone was very friendly, and pricing is extremely fair. The dealership would have been a very different experience.

While driving in the area I had a small emergency pop up that required immediate attention before it damaged other items.
