I am totally pleased with my apartment, it is cozy but pets help alot. The maintenance is awesome. I do not know why my rent was raised bigtime in October, but still, with the housing crisis, and the neighbors are well behaved, I am glad I can afford it. It has cooled off now and sleep is much better.

I would suggest any other housing entity beside CHT. They do not care what happens to their tenants. Ive been trapped in a closet apt. That rented for 730$ a month before subsidy of 400$ a month they raised it to 770$ and I get stuck cleaning the entire building because they put me somewhere the other tenants dont have their faculties about them. Basically the worst place ive ever lived in my life.

Ive had good experiences with CHT personally.Chittenden County honestly doesnt have many good landlords, and that Cleary wont ever change, but CHT does try harder to help their tenants than any other landlords Ive ever dealt with. They offer alot, Im pretty sure they have programs even to help people get credit, and buy a home eventually. I would have taken the credit class, had I not fixed my credit myself, before my application was accepted through CHT.I would certainly recommend them though 😊 they are definitely the best when it comes to chittenden County.

I had some questions for a school project. The initial call taker was respectful and easy to talk to. She sent me to the Director of community relations. I was able to gain the information I needed for my project. The work that they are doing seems to be having an affect on cost while improving health of a specific population.

This is a wonderful non-profit organization that provides both rental and purchase housing options for low-income Vermonters. The people who work there are lovely and caring and work there because they believe in the cause.

Champlain Housing Trust is a evil and greedy Real estate developer that has a effective public relations department that puts out lots misinformation that makes CHT look good . Generally speaking the only low income people they will rent to are people who have section 8 type vouchers. (Its guaranteed money 1000.00 a month for CHT) But if you are working at MCDoanlds and living at COTS or Harbor Place CHT wont rent to you. If you work at DEALER you can probably rent from them. Be Aware the rent goes up 3 percent every year and CHT collects all kinds of data on your rent payments and attaches it to your SS Number. Think Credit score for renters Its called Yardi. (Google it) This also ends up effecting your credit score. That apartment you are paying 1400 a month for you might end up with a Scary neighbor like the reviews below. Those reviews were cut and pasted from directly from the Burlington Free press. Here is the most recent incident that happened at a Champlain Housing Trust owned property South Meadow ApartmentsEvery month I read about Champlain Housing Trust or their tenants causing problems in the Local community.A woman is in custody following a domestic dispute at the South Meadow Apartments during which Burlington police say a man sustained lacerations.Bianca Walton, 34, has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree aggravated domestic assault. She has been jailed pending a court appearance, police said.Burlington police responded to Lyman Avenue in Burlington around 12:30 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report about the injured man. Police said their investigation showed the lacerations had occurred at one of the South Meadow apartments.Sgt. James Trieb said the man was brought to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington and was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Trieb said the man appeared to be injured with some type of cutting instrument. If convicted, Walton faces up to 15 years in prison and up to $25,000 in fines

SHELBURNE — The town’s chief executive is seeking to bring public pressure on officials in charge of Harbor Place motel, an emergency shelter where police say a man recently used a machete to attack a Meals on Wheels volunteer.Town Manager Joe Colangelo said Tuesday he had been stonewalled by officials at the nonprofit Champlain Housing Trust.Colangelo gave reporters unsolicited copies of emails Tuesday morning between him and several officials and board members of the trust, which owns Harbor Place. In the messages, Colangelo asked for a meeting with CHT officials to talk about recent incidents at the motel.Joe ColangeloShelburne Town Manager Joe Colangelo. Courtesy photoHe has clashed with the trust before. In October 2015, Colangelo tried to have Harbor Place shut down on the grounds that it wasn’t operating as permitted. After Colangelo issued a notice of violation in 2015 against Harbor Place, the housing trust fought back and prevailed before the Development Review Board, winning the right to continue operating unfettered.Colangelo said two recent incidents are driving his concern, which he identified as Friday’s machete attack and the discovery of a body at the motel Monday morning. Police say foul play is not suspected in the death.Police visit Harbor Place for a variety of reasons, said Shelburne Acting Police Chief Aaron Noble. He wouldn’t reveal how often police visit, saying the calls ebb and flow.“It runs from a vehicle lockout, to assaults, to disturbances, to what we dealt with on Friday afternoon, attempted murder,” Noble said.“Things seem to go in cycles. We’ll be called there several times in a short amount of time, then we will go an extended period of time with no calls there,” he said. After Friday’s attack, questions were raised about how the housing trust vets its residents. The organization can’t turn people away for simply having a criminal record, Donnelly said. The trust will turn away anyone on the sex offender registry and people who staff or police have good reason to believe are a potential danger to others.“These are people who are receiving a public benefit, and so there really has to be a cause to deny them that public benefit, otherwise it’s discriminatory,” Donnelly said. With last week’s cold snap, more people were applying for shelter, said Deputy DCF Commissioner Sean Brown. Brown said that as a rule, the department does not check backgrounds.“Our programs and eligibility are based on rules, and those rules do not require a background check for anyone applying for a benefit,” Brown said.Brown declined to discuss Friday’s attack. He also declined to say if the suspect, Abukar Ibrahim, was referred to Harbor Place by DCF, citing laws protecting the identity of people using public benefits.
