I havent felt without a home since I arrived!! I live with a big family of big hearted people! Its one of the few places that arent detox for people in difficult situations. You have to be clean, no drugs or alcohol allowed on site or in you unless doctor prescribed. Then its like living in a college dorm! For all those who think the homeless are dirty, drug & alcohol infested criminals - if you dont have a hefty bank account it could be you in the blink of an eye!You are treated with kindness and dignity and given so much help and understanding. Those giving it a bad review have probably been asked to leave thru their own fault - pay no attention.Like all families we have squabbles, but we have love and tolerance...

Im sure ita great. But its a big scheme. If you become homeless in the winter you have to go back in time and tell them 3 months ahead that you have nowhere to go or youre left for dead. There is 211 and they will put you in a motel with no hot water for 1 night. The help is there for families and people who really cant do it alone. There is no place for capable victims of circumstance.

There’s reviews about this place that’ll scare you off. However don’t let those reviews stop you from reaching out. they have cameras secured at all the surrounding areas and the common areas. The people are a kind, generous, respectful, and full of life. There’s always a meal available so you don’t have to worry much about when your next meal will be. They’re goal oriented but won’t rush you into doing anything you’re not ready for. The staffs are kind at heart and they’re full of laughs. Everyone here is a family and we behave as such. I love it here and I wish everyone could get the same experience I’ve had living here..

ANEW Place is a transitional living facility for homeless people who are actively seeking long term housing. They do great work.

This place is not as advertised. First, the case management is very sloppy. Half the time your case management meetings are missed by the case manager. The shelter manager himself is a terrible person. He initiated a policy of having the residents leave for five hours on Saturdays. Women with severe physical handicaps are forced to leave the shelter with their walkers. This was only because the case manager was tired of residents looking at her from the dinner table and wanted privacy. Though I recommended repairs to very clear hazards such as the mens bathroom mirror falling down, they were never made weeks later. The beginning week night time manager is also a very rude person who runs the place like a county jail. The list can go on and on. I strongly advise not coming here. At all. They are not interested in helping you, just keeping you around long enough so they can get the required funds so staff can keep their jobs and lead lazy lives. Thats the long and the short of it.

This is not my first time at this shelter it was called BES when I went in I was welcomed with open arms I thought I was going to feel uncomfortable but I was mistaken people there were friendly and the staff as well they made you feel welcome and now its called ANEW Place and the same thing has happened staff and resadents are friendly and make you feel very welcome, I love it here you meet new and interesting people I feel like I can be myself and not try to be someone else I have fun and help with having a friendly smile on my face to return the ones I get, people ask if they can help me with anything or if I have any questions to just ask, I want to help in anyway that I can, I just want to say thank you to ANEW PLACE For helping me and giving me a chance to get my life together I can already tell Im going to have a wonderful time here

ANEW Place is doing good for the Burlington community, but from helping a friend out they seem to turn those in need away if the homeless person cant make an appointment prior to asking for help. While the experience was small bump in the road to providing aid to those with mental health problems, I am optimistic about what can happen in the area.

This place is pathetic. They said they were full yet didnt offer me either a meal or the opportunity to just sleep on the floor -- instead, they instructed me to (are you ready?) find a church so I could sleep outside on the property. Unbelievable!
