Ive been coming here for roughly 2.5 years, and I must say its had its mostly ups and some downs, but overall its been a great gym. Recently the owner Antonio has been doing as much as he can to make it even better, and that effort alone deserves its credit. I highly recommend this place, especially if youre local because it has many amenities, but its also a nice gym with very personable staff.

I use to be a member years ago . I quit because of my own attendance. I am back know with new owners. Staff was very professional & clearly explained the contract. I notice the difference is not a lot of people around. The first day I signed in & went to the steam room. I enjoyed it until I came out & see this cleaner lady cleaning with heavy chemical . Oh my I am telling you my allergy started right away. I work in health department & to see a facility using a powerful chemical in public area make me think twice. I ask the nice lady I met in the steam Room, why are they cleaning during this time when people are using the facility. She told me the new owner don’t care & a lot of people are complaining & no body is listening. The second day, I was greeted in the locker room by chemical smell & decided to leave early due to the strong pine & other spray smell. I have been so sick since then & missed a couple days already. I signed up for 1 year & I am thinking twice really. Don’t take me wrong, I have been only 3 days & didn’t see any other odd problems. I work in a health department & mentioned it to my supervisor she couldn’t believe it. My suggestion will be , since we are paying for the maintenance, you should have somebody cleaning the place after hours not during people using the premises. If not I see low-suite coming in the way. Hazardous to human health really. I also mentioned it to the nice front desk lady but she shrugged her shoulder & that was it! This is a friendly reminder.

I wish I could leave less than one star review. From the lingering awful odor in the entire facility. There hours online are not accurate only open from 9am-5pm M-F so if you love working out on your lunch break this is the place for you. The the management finding everyway to squeeze money out of you this is not a great business. The owner is also not a very nice guy he even hung up a call with me.

Really not a great gym. Management is awful, the staff is indifferent. There hours are M-F 9am-5pm during corona so thats fun. Would never recommend on the upside it is almost always empty so machines are free, but be warned there is a reason it is so empty.

This is by far my favorite Fitness club. My workout partner and I use the upstairs track on a regular basis and the equipment downstairs. You never have to wait around for the machines there is plenty of equipment. I like the fact that the pool is in the back of the gym not in the front like LA Fitness. The locker rooms are very nice and spacious. I also love the waiting room in the lobby with the coffee and comfortable chairs. Makes for a nice meeting area for folks to visit. The Club has a warm and spa-like feel to it.

I visited Highline Athletic Club to sign up for a month to month membership in order to use the club facilities. When doing so, the employee that was helping me assured I was signing a month to month contract and when giving me the contract to sign stated roughly this is just a standard gym contract implying that there is no need for me to go through it.I decided to cancel my membership because I wasnt happy with the quality of services offered. The spa facilities and locker rooms are not very clean and frequently spa facilities are out of order. The overall offerings are simply not worth the price in comparison to other local gyms.I called to cancel and the employee on the phone told me that I do not have a month to month contract but instead a 1-year contract and I would need to pay $250 dollars to cancel. This information was witheld from me at the time of me signing the contract. Moreover, they stated that they could not email me a copy of my contract and I would have to collect in person and yet they printed me a digital copy so clearly this was just another hoop I had to jump through. I would also have to come in person to cancel and sign a cancellation form.A few days later I get a call from a personal trainer at the gym saying that with my membership I get free personal training. This is something that was never offered to me before and Im assuming an attempt to get me not to cancel. While speaking to the personal trainer he stated that I was paying a monthly membership which contradicts what the other employee told me on the phone. Finally, I went in person to cancel my membership. They first told me this was not possible because I have a 1-year contract then after arguing they finally offered to let me pay $250. They told me that this would be complete the same day. I did not fill out any cancellation form that they claim to require. They did not cancel my membership that day and I had to email them again. I did not get a reply until about a week later to finally cancel.Overall my complaint is that they are deceiving customers by using unethical sales tactics and withholding information about the product they are selling (the gym membership). The terms of the contract were never explained to me and I was left paying hefty fees to get out of the situation. Moreover, they try to string you along and make you jump through hoops hoping that youll forget or give up.

From Angel to Nicole to Melissa and Sierra, I enjoy all of the staff at the HAC. Ive been a member since Ive moved to the area for a couple years and recommend this gym for locals that arent looking for a cramped experience at LA. My critiques are bringing back towel service, new basketballs so we dont need to keep buying our own to play, and more stair masters since the other one has been down for a couple months.

Usually not too busy, machines are working 95+% of the time. Locker rooms have a bit of a funky smell but dont really ever seem gross. Would be nice if they started offering towel service again. Pool is decent; hard to find convenient family swim time (they only offer it ~1.5hours a day and not every day of the week. Prices are cheaper than the YMCA and I would rate the facility and equipment availability as better.

I just returned to Highline Athletic Club after using the local large chain brand gym for last 4 months. And although I was overall satisfied with HAC before leaving, Im very impressed and pleased with the changes and updates the new management has made since I left and returned. As well as adding new equipment, its much cleaner and theyve also made many small improvements that greatly enhance the overall ambiance of the club. And very pleased with two things that havent changed - easy to park and never crowded. Great value compared to the other clubs in area Ive tried.

Excellent sports facility. Family and community oriented with a wide variety of classes and something to do for everyone regardless of your fitness level. Very clean, I love that is never crowded even tho my schedule is all over the place and the fact the that it opens so early (5AM!) And closes so late gives me time to work around my work schedule. Pool temperature is always great. Looking forward to spending some time in the hot tub, sauna and steam room this winter and definetly using the wonderful indoor track since it will be too rough to take my morning walk outdoors with the rainy season coming up!

I used to frequent this gym, and to be honest I didnt have an overall opinion about it - it was just a place to work out. Some of the positives were that there was always lots of machines available and the locker rooms were nice, and the negatives were that lots of the machines werent in great shape and I have to admit it did smell a little funny. My view of the establishment was tainted when I canceled in accordance with my contract, and I was still charged. No big deal, people make mistakes, but when I called to inquire I had a terrible interaction with a woman who works there. I got Toms email (the GM), and reached out to him. He is new there and has always been very timely with his responses. We have been emailing back and fourth for about a month now, and finally found a resolution. There was an issue with my contract being different then the one that is currently used, and so miscommunication was the culprit to our problems. Once Tom and HAC realized the problem I got an immediate apology and an offer for concessions. Tom understands that the reputation at this club needs some improving, and he is willing to jump in with both feet to make things better for the members. If I still lived in the area I would give this place another shot for sure.

The club is very clean, family friendly and you never have to wait for machines. This IS NOT ENOUGH however, to weigh the issues they have with the company coordinating the monthly membership payments. Two straight months they have taken money out of my account that is not authorized. No small amounts either; over $100 additional each time. Pretty steep when you consider the already outrageous monthly dues. It takes them over a week to even approve refunds so for over 10 days overdraft fees were accruing on my bank account. After seeing it happen again this morning, I will be demanding a full refund as well as immediate cancellation of my membership. That is, as soon as I can reach the manager who doesnt appear to actually do any work as hes never there when I call.

Sean is great at working with people who have injuries and helping folks meet their fitness goals. This has been my best gym experience ever.

I had to give up my membership in 2014 due to injury. I told them to destroy my credit card information since I was on an auto payment plan. After 6 months, they started billing my credit card again. I have been trying for 3 months to get them to issue me a credit to no avail.I originally encountered a hassle trying to get them to not charge me for the month I gave up my membership since I went in on the 2nd of the month. They said it was already processed and I had to give 30 days notice even though I had a note from my PT. It just seems like it is one hassle after another since there is new big corp ownership....gone is the small town feel.........

Ive been coming here since I was a little kid. I dont understand if the new or old owners know or realize that some of the guests are long time members... But the Gym Attendant decided to ask me to verify our memberships before proceeding on to the gym and when I answered her questions she said youre all done, then told me in a random hostile approach pull your pants up or leave. I told her Im sorry if thats part of the conduct I didnt know, but please understand this isnt something where i should be patronized for. If its part of the conduct or rules I will definitely obey it. She then said why are you arguing with me. I told her I wasnt and I was just explaining that she doesnt have to say in a condescending approach that I will be kicked out if I dont pull my pants when were customers.Ive never had any problems with any of the staff but I was shocked for the way I was being treated and she said she was going to call the police if I didnt follow her orders or leave so I did. Ive called back to try to speak about the issue with management but the same employee is saying no one is going to even try to resolve my issue. Every small or big company has a grievance process but this is unheard of. Ive been a long time member since I was a adoloscent and my uncle opened an account under his name and weve never had any problems.Ive went back today (11/21/18) months later as I was busy with school etc. On my way there Ive seen the Owner/Store/Bussiness Manager and was happy because Im positive he would solve our issue with great serivce as Ive witnessed it. When I walked in I was approached by the same manager that I spoke with months before and I explained I had a discrepancy I would like to speak to about with the Owner/Manager... She then said she is the manager and that I wouldnt be able to speak to anyone else. I asked so how can you guys as a well know gym value our past or current memberships if I cant even be treated important enough to speak to the appropiate field or whatever method available to handle discreancies etc.. (and im sure they definitely have one available) But im just obviously shocked to see how its not being applied here. Simple discrepancies always have a process for reporting.I guess young guys that have their pants too baggy or too sagged arent important enough to be treated with courtesy. Even when theyve been members for several years. The level of stereo typing is sad. Hope Highline staff could solve this communication issue as Ive seen some others with similar reviews. I know the HAC stands for great customer satisfaction regardless of few instances.

Love the facility but the accounts receivable clerk has no people skills and needs training as to what the boundaries are when collecting past due accounts. She does not understand that guest members are not signing the contract and therefore cannot be held liable for unpaid dues. Furthermore, harassing guest members as a means of collecting a debt is not appropriate. She is rude and believes she is right no matter what the circumstances. Even if you keep good records you can expect a bad experience. That being said, the ownership is changing and it is my best hope the accounts person will receive training on how to handle unpaid invoices and clients.Sincerely,John L. White, EMBA

I was a member here twice, once while living in White Center and upon returning to Burien from Seattle. My takeaways:Never had a problem with management staff but did with mismanagement (behind the scenes matters such as billing, see the end of this review).Front desk staff used to be friendlier back in 2014 but there are exceptions or exceptional times. The mens locker room smells worse than a high school locker room. It is horrible, to me, and I consider myself to have a high tolerance as a guy. Ironically, it appears clean and fairly well kept so Ive no idea why! They have a lot of equipment, old and new. It may not all be new but it is taken care of. They have some functional training in one room, cardio in another, free weights in a third, machines in a fourth, two classrooms, a large gym for basketball or some other game many regulars seem to play, an indoor track, a cycling room, a stretching room, a pool and attached hot tub, steam room, and sauna. Yeah, thats a lot!Classes are offered but there seems to be an issue keeping instructors as there has been a history of cancellations on notices or in overhearing gym banter or dissatisfied guests coming in during the morning at the front desk.Speaking of gym talk, Ive not noticed a sense of community but was hoping to find one when going. People seem hesitant to open up unless youre already in their circle. Perhaps its just a Seattle thing. This is the biggest reason to go to a gym in my opinion since workouts can be tough without a little support (or shame in not going for awhile). Its pricier. See the list of amenities above? It costs money when youre not a national chain. This translates into more expensive membership fees. I bet if they increased the fees more or offered a different tier for classes, they could afford what the instructors need or rent out space for martial arts or dance instructors to hold classes there.Nevertheless, I found it difficult to continue there uninspired by the handful of conversations I have had in several months of going there...literally a handful (no more than 5). The hours were also an issue. 24 hour key card access would be awesome (with the pool locked up, of course). Even without community, Id return if that became available. Id imagine a little background screen would be all it would take to offer that to others and perhaps even reduce operational costs by staffing fewer hours (currently 5a to 9 or 10pm weekdays). I mean if youre going to staff all but 7 hours, why not go for the gold right? Or change hours to 6am to 8pm weekdays and 8/10am to 6pm on weekends. Heck, close one day a week even with 24 hour access.Id say if you have the chance to try it and it fits your life, give it a shot. Pay with a credit card instead of debit card though. Billing issues have been known to happen and its much easier to resolve when it isnt coming directly out of your bank account. Recent management seems to be on top of it (dealing with prior management shortfalls in oversight).
