Update from previous review 2 months ago (sorry in advance for the length):Within 2 months, my review went from 4 stars to 2 due to my recent experience when trying to end my lease. I called them at the very beginning of December to let them know that due to some unforeseen financial difficulties, my December rent would be late & understood that I would incur the associated fees, also that I would be ending my lease in January. Towards the end of December, I received a notice of intent to put a lien on my unit. I called them & they assured me that these were automated letters sent & it would take months before any such actions actually were to occur. I paid the December rent the first week of January to avoid them mailing a certified letter which would add an additional $40 fee to my account & hoped that would enable me to re-gain access to my unit to begin clearing it out being I would be doing it myself (you lose access if no payment has been made by the 5th of the month) & informed them that I would be paying the pro-rated amount for January the following week & ending my lease (they originally told me that the rent would be pro-rated when vacating the unit), however, I was wrong. Due to it now being the first week of January, I still would not have access until January was paid & they only pro-rate until the 10th, after which the full monthly amount is required (which is stated in the original contract). I explained that I was only one month behind & this was the only time I had been late during the 16 months I had been using their facility. Also, that a lot of these additional fees & the ability to re-gain access was not automated & solely at their discretion. After much back and forth with management, they finally agreed to pro-rate half of the January amount provided that I would make payment on the 11th & have everything vacated by the end of the day on Sunday, the 13th. Despite being a long time customer, regularly paying on time, giving them as much advance notice as possible of my situation, & the fact that I would be emptying my unit myself, they refused to allow me access to my unit until the 11th, leaving me 2 days to empty my unit (on a weekend with anticipated snow). I understand they have a business to run but as a previous business owner myself, the conflicting information that I had been given & their complete unwillingness for any flexibility (even in terms of one day regarding fees & accessing my unit), this was hardly any form of customer service. At the end of that Sunday, I went to the office to inform them that my unit was empty so that they could inspect it & provide the necessary paperwork for same; however, no one was there. I called their business number & was told that the office was closed due to the snow (!) & that they would email me the move-out documents. I am certain that snow would not have been an acceptable excuse had I not finished vacating my unit by the end of that day. Further, I never received any paperwork by email or regular mail.Previous review: Prices for storage units are comparable to other places in the area, $5 late payment fee, but they did offer a military discount for the first month. They email a monthly payment reminder, however, I rarely actually receive it. I do like the fact that they offer 24 hour gate access.
