I am shocked to see the 5 star reviews for this practice. My partner went here to get a tooth looked at that has been bothering him. We got in on the $90 new patient x-rays & cleaning deal. After the visit my partner came home with an estimate for $3,700 worth of work that they insisted was necessary. If he decided to join their office plan with in 30 days the price would be knocked down to $2,700. Which raised red flags to me. The best part is: they didnt even address the tooth that was bothering him.So I contacted my relative out of state who works at a dentists office & had his documents sent to them. They were shocked & APPALLED to find that the services this office recommended were not even necessary.Boulder Dental told him he would need a deep scaling & cleaning with numbing for all 4 areas of his mouth & the x rays showed that he did not even have any calculus build up. My relative also mentioned that this was the oldest scam in the book as far as shady dental practices go.SCAM. Hands down taking advantage of people who dont know any better & wont seek a 2nd opinion. I think thats a disgusting way to do business. Especially for a dental office. The opinion of my relative who has been in dentistry for over 35 years? He just needs the 1 tooth pulled.

Before Dr. Raz (Irarrazabal) started filing my tooth, I asked her if there was anything else I could do in lieu of getting a crown. I value more the ability to keep as much as possible of my natural teeth and my time and days spent pain-free than I do having a tooth cover even if it is guaranteed not to chip. She stared at me, shook her head and said nothing. A week later, when I went in to have my permanent crown placed, I asked her “Could I have had it filled?”. She replied, “Yes, of course…” I still don’t know exactly why I didn’t explicitly ask if I could have it filled at my appointment the week prior. My regret over that is enormous. I had assumed, erroneously, that if a filling were an option that she would’ve presented that possibility to me when I asked for alternatives. Seeing the disappointment in my eyes, she said, “You never have to do anything you don’t want to do…but there is no way to know whether the filling would’ve held up or for how long”. Words offered a week too late. I recognize that filling it wouldn’t have been as secure a treatment option as a crown is but the probability that I’d incur serious traumatic injury from opting to fill the chip wasn’t secure either. I felt disheartened by the realization that my tooth was good enough to remain, that a filling would’ve sufficed. That I didn’t need to waste two afternoons of my life in that chair. That I could’ve spared myself the numbing injections. That didn’t need to have a tooth, containing the hardest substance on my body, abraded. That I could’ve avoided the extreme soreness in my jaw the ensuing 48 hours.Dr. Raz conveyed clear awareness of my hesitation and aversion to the procedure, admitting, in front of her assistant, that I asked her for alternatives before we started, that she perceived my discontent over the impending procedure the week prior. Yet she did not present a filling as a viable alternative, she withheld information from me. Her action, or lack thereof, has eroded my belief in people’s goodwill and authenticity. While she corroded my trust and naivete, one good thing that came out of this is that it gave me a greater appreciation for the providers who, unlike Dr. Raz, practice ‘less is more’. It has also increased my respect for providers who, unlike Dr. Raz, stop to exercise transparency in order to help offset the information asymmetry that exists in provider-patient relationships. This should serve as a reminder to patients that they’re the only ones who hold their best interest above all, while dentists are economically incentivized due to the fee-for-service model. Please don’t make the mistake I made by trusting Dr. Raz’s nudge unreservedly. For example, if/when you’re told you need a crown, explicitly ask “Can I have it filled?”. If unsure or opposed about a suggested treatment, seek a second opinion from an unrelated practice before agreeing to a procedure, even if the procedure seems minimally invasive. To the practice, specifically, Dr. Raz-first two reminders- a) getting a crown is much more than merely a ‘jarring’ experience. The numbing agent alone doesn’t mean the process of getting a crown is painless nor simply a brief and mildly uncomfortable procedure. The physical discomfort lingers beyond the patient chair, beyond the declining potency of the numbing agent. For example, even now, months after getting the crown, cold sensitivity persists. b) simply because Medicaid, or any other insurance company, covers all expenses of a procedure doesn’t mean that the patient will opt into the costliest or more aggressive procedure. Suggestion: if a patient is averse to a suggested procedure and asks for alternatives, then present the patient with all available options, even those you might deem suboptimal in comparison. Being transparent empowers patients and shows that you respect them enough to invite them into the decision-making process. You can help reduce uncertainty by taking a few extra minutes to list the options and the possible benefit and or repercussion of each.

Danny Abboud was my dentist for most of the the 8 years I lived in Boulder. The last work I had done by him a couple/few years ago were several fillings which are beginning to fall out now. 2 in the last month. Also ,a bridge built over a badly decayed tooth which he ground down to a stub before capping. Prior to the procedure, I questioned him about it becoming a problem in the future. He assured me that he was the Professional and I neednt worry. I had to return 3 ,maybe 4 times to have the cap ground more to fit comfortably. It was actually another dentist at this location who finally got it right. Well, my concerns turned out just as I thought as now Ive got constant pain from the tooth becoming decayed again over the past year & I currently dont have dental insurance. I know now that Danny Abboud knew that tooth was too far gone to save but wanted the big insurance payout for bridge work versus a simple extraction. Thanks Mr. Professional!

Unfortunately I had a terrible experience here.. the assistant left in the middle of my procedure, leaving the poor dentist to be assisted by a kid who had never assisted a dentist before, ever! with their hands already in my mouth I could hardly protest and the procedure took twice as long as it should have and was incredibly uncomfortable, eventually I was late for work and had to leave with the filling unfinished and my bite uneven. I had to go to a different dentist to fix it, because I didn’t want to be in incompetent hands again, and pay out of pocket as insurance wont cover a filling on the same tooth twice, even though it was poorly installed leaving a gap to only Make the cavity worse... Honestly I felt bad for the dentist she seemed very overwhelmed and frustrated being abandoned like that! Overall definitely don’t recommend.. experienced some frustrations with scheduling and front desk management as well.

BEWARE! My dentist Brian Howard, DDS had supposedly joined this practice but neither he nor his hygienist were in the building when I showed up for my appointment. I waited 40 minutes for a cleaning that was no where near as thorough as I was used to from my regular hygienist, Ulla. When I asked where they were the staff would only offer vague answers like hes not here today and she (Ulla) didnt show up today. I regret not walking out before anybody touched my teeth. I was told I needed a crown but the receptionist told me I could not schedule it with Dr. Howard. Finally as I was leaving the receptionist told me Dr Howard was looking to retire by the end of the year. I felt like I had been tricked into going there and receiving work. I was never informed of this transition. I do not trust or respect the Boulder Dental Center. I read their 5 star reviews and found them to be so generic and vague I suspect their legitimacy.

Have never ever had an issue with any Dentist but my experiences at Boulder Dental Center have left me with a new phobia of going to the dentist. I have never been treated so poorly by an office or had to deal with so many issues. My saga:Visit 1: I went in to replace a filling and they ended up drilling a ton of my existing tooth for a crown instead of just filling the cavity. A temporary was placed that was so painful that even chewing on the opposite side was excruciating.Visit 2: When my permanent crown arrived, I went in to have it seated and the assistant spent 15 minutes trying to force SOMEONE ELSES crown onto my tooth. I yelped the first time he tried to put it on and the assistant and Dentist seemed surprised I was in pain and were hesitant to give me any sort of numbing. He finally did and then continued to try to force the crown on. I had tears coming down my face and was experiencing pain worse than any broken bone Ive had. I asked for more numbing and the Dentist was dismissive but agreed to it. I have never felt so invalidated by any medical provider ever. He finally realized it was the wrong crown, told me he would re-order the right one, painfully reseated the old temporary crown and sent me home crying. The temporary crown continued to be painful and make eating hard. Bonus: I lost 5 lbs in the two weeks waiting to go back.Visit 3: Before this visit I asked to cancel the follow-up and get a refund. They continued to pressure me into coming back until I finally gave up and caved and agreed to see a different provider, apparently with a lighter touch. The front desk said they would put me with the new dentist moving forward and add it to my file. With the new dentist, I went in and informed her about the pain I had previously and she seemed skeptical and tried to seat the crown without numbing. Again, I was yelping and crying from pain. I have a high pain tolerance and this was worse pain than when I got hit by a car biking. She finally agreed to numb me. Tried again. Needed a second numbing. In trying to seat the crown, she cracked it and again we had to start over by ordering a new one. For the second time, I went home numb, in pain and crying.Visit 4: The new crown arrived. I showed up expecting to see the female Dentist they assured me I would have for all future appointments and they had added me to the schedule of the original male Dentist. They offered that I could wait an hour to see the female Dentist. I asked about refunds and they said the office manager would call me that same day.Two days later I got a call from the office manager. They are refusing to refund due to services rendered. I dont know what Services were completed since I attempted 3 separate times and they made 3 significant errors that resulted in me not receiving treatment and left me in a significant amount of pain. I kept explaining the situation but the office manager interrupted me and said I was refusing services. I came in multiple times but they made serious errors.I regret ever going to this Dentist. If they would refund me, maybe that would make it right, but I have never been treated so callously and inhumanely. Please dont make the same mistake I did by going here.

Earlier this year,  I had a toothache that was challenging in terms of identifying the source. Dr. Pham was persistent in her attempts at finding the reason for the pain and referred me to a specialist. Eventually the source of the pain was identified and the office was able to work me into their office schedule for treatment soon thereafter; which I was very happy! Ive been coming to Bouder dental now since 2017 and I have to say I really am impressed by their service Dr Carter is amazing Austin two crowns for me one of them being my friend tooth it looks real!!!!🥰I needed a tooth extraction and my insurance wouldnt cover it because I have Medicaid and so Dr Carter when and pulled it free of charge theyre great with customer service they actually treat you like your family. Getting my cleaning done by Cameron the hygienist Ive done twice now and I have to say shes very gentle and does a very good thorough job.😁👍 I also really appreciated the assistant Amic she listen to me the most and was very informative. And Petra the receptionist is probably one of the best people there I really enjoy their staff and their service its quality 👍👍👍👍👍

1) I booked the earliest-available 8:00 AM appointment specifically to avoid crowds. I’m 67, in good health, but my wife is immune-compromised. If I hadn’t been in severe pain, I would not have risked a visit to a dentist. Instead I was shuttled back and forth through their small, crowed lobby (6 other people, +3 staff) for more x-rays. This was VERY distressing.2) The dentist seemed fixed on the x-rays. She made no direct examination of the teeth in question. Did not probe with a mirror or other instrument. Rather applied a frozen Q-tip to my already very painful teeth in some sort of test.3) She did not suggest any other treatment options besides root canal or implant.4) I’m not an expert, but I could see in the x-ray that both of the bottom second molars (31 &18) are deeply compromised, and so are the adjacent first molars (30 & 19) for a total of 4 cavities, I was told that two (31 & 18) would require root canals. The “treatment plan” for the root canals was nearly $3,000, AFTER insurance, and makes no mention of the repair the adjacent teeth will require.5) My upper right molar (2) has long been displaced laterally by an emerging third molar. I had an episode with it several years ago, but it has been asymptomatic since then. Now, it too is very sensitive to touch. I tried to make this clear to the dentist that this was the center of pain, but it wasn’t taken seriously.6) There was no discussion of long-overdue periodontal care, except that the dentist (referring to me in the second person) commented to the assistant, “He’s going to be a perio patient as well.”7) I expect to be treated like a person, not a case number. If I were planning to spend three grand in a jewelry store, the level of customer service would be VERY different. My first impulse is find a different dental office and start over. Damn the cost. After reading the other reviews on this page, my decision is confirmed.— Orvel Ray Wilson

The team at Boulder Dental Center is absolutely amazing. The front desk staff is very knowledgeable and is always willing to walk me through my options and their in house insurance plan is great. The Dentists and Hygienist are very caring and make sure that you are always comfortable. They take the time to explain how my teeth look and what I can do to improve oral hygiene. I used to be very uncomfortable in the dentist chair, but since making regular visits to Boulder Dental Center, it is an experience that I look forward to every time.

The dentists and staff here were very kind, warm and enthusiastic, but most importantly they were extremely professional and quick about helping me with my wisdom tooth emergency. I can tell that the staff here are professional and really know what they are doing, which makes me feel so comfortable about my wisdom tooth surgery tomorrow. And not to mention all the help with my insurance! I would Definitely recommend Boulder Dental Center if you are looking for quick and quality care!

Boulder Dental Center is great. I have never had a poor experience here. The employees do an excellent job, from the receptionists, to the dental hygienists, to the doctors. Carmen is an exceptional hygienist and will properly explain details about dental hygiene and procedures if you ask!

Had a great first time experience! Carmen was awesome, as was Dr. Abboud. Loved the state of the art tech, and being able to see exactly where/what they were working on.

I encourage you not to go to this dentist - Dr. Danny Abboud. Their policy is to overbill you by the amount they will be paid by the insurance company. They do not tell you this when you pay at the time of service. Only after the insurance company pays their portion of the bill, then they state they will eventually pay you back. This did not occur with me and I had to put in multiple calls in order to get my money back.

I got my wisdom teeth out here almost a year ago. I still have nerve damage from the surgery and was told the damage was more than likely permanent at this point. The right side of my tongue and gums are still numb. Since they gave me permanent nerve damage I thought I would be entitled to a refund or at least some of my money back but I was wrong. They refused to give me any money back and basically just told me hopefully it gets better in a few years.

Britney is a world class hygienist. Gentle, yet considerably thorough. The doctors here dont fall far from her mark as well. My filling was executed with marked precision. Looks like the cavity was never there! Prices are fair too, if you need to pay out of pocket (my cleaning was around $100, no x-rays or other services).I highly recommend this practice for your general dental needs!

Dr. Nagel is absolutely incredible. Not only did she walk me through everything that was going on with my dental hygiene, but she answered my questions and help alleviate my anxiety - I hate the dentist. It was very clean and every staff member was friendly and welcoming! I highly recommend Boulder Dental Center for all of your dental hygiene needs.
