I went in to remove a broken bottom retainer. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful for setting up an appointment, estimating the time and cost of the procedure, and navigating my lack of insurance. The hygienist thoroughly explained all of the COVID precautions the office was taking and made me feel comfortable while waiting for my procedure. The primary doctor explained why I had a bottom retainer in the first place and walked me through potential options moving forward if my teeth started shifting again. I would highly recommend Boulder Canyon Dental because the staff are knowledgeable and considerate.

As a new patient at this office, Ive had the best experience thus far! Its very clean, modern, conveniently located, and the staff has been more than accommodating. I love Dr. Jons transparency throughout the entire appointment - from when hes going to be done drilling to what the whole process looks like. One of the best dentist experiences Ive had! The Perrier they offer is excellent as well - haha.While the dentist experience was great, my experience with the billing/refund department has been horrible. Ive had to follow up multiple times about claims not submitted, and getting the actual refund is more difficult than pulling teeth (pun intended). I dont truly think they have their patients first in mind in this department. No matter how great my dental experience was, Ill find a new dentist before I have to deal with a headache insurance process here again.

I have a complicated mouth. Anyone can take x rays and clean you teeth. Dr John had to create a custom plan for broken front tooth that was a 45 year old root canal. His plan worked and I have a beautiful smile that will last a life time. If you need a really good dentist Dr Jon is the man.

Boulder Canyon Dental has a modern and clean facility with a location that is very convenient for patients that live in the Newlands and North Boulder neighborhoods. The business takes appropriate COVID-19 precautions such as having a policy of mask compliance and also placing a transparent divider between the front desk and the waiting area. The facility has a nice imaging setup and can provide you with 3D dental-cone beam CT scans as an alternative to the more traditional 2D x-ray image. They have a new patient special where it costs $79 for a cleaning and an x-ray (without insurance). Overall I would recommend Boulder Canyon Dental to anyone that is looking for a new dentist in Boulder, Colorado.

The staff here is so great, professional and knowledgeable. I had a broken tooth during the start of the Covid lockdown and they worked me in and fixed my tooth quickly with a crown that they make right there in the office. Dr Jon Smith made me feel at ease during the procedure and I hav had no issues at all with my crown. Dr Amy treated my two young kids for their first cleanings and was so great (and quick!) with them when they were nervous. Plus Dr.Amy does Botox too! All in one visit! Dr. Jon Smith at Boulder Canyon Dental became my dentist when my previous dentist Dr. Tom Simpson retired. I have always loved this dental office. This summer I needed two crowns replaced. Dr. Smith was able to do this in the office--he makes the crowns there while you wait. I liked the way he explained everything and made sure I was comfortable. I am glad that receptionist Carol is still there, and the two assistants I met were wonderful.

I had a dental cleaning appointment 6 mos ago - only had cleaning and an exam. The charges that were submitted to insurance were as follows: 2 cleanings at the same visit, exam, bitewing x4, + 2 additional x-rays = $440. I called multiple times asking to correct it and they said they would or did, but they didnt. Needless to say, I am going elsewhere, which is also a problem because a doctor requires x-rays for a first visit, but this will be not covered by insurance. I cannot comment on Dr. Smiths skills because I had not had any dental treatments, but dental hygienists are not very good and I am being generous in this assessment.

I had a bad experience here as a new patient. I received a cleaning with a ultrasonic and it was my first time having this procedure. I have tinnitus which is a ringing in the ears which has been improving since the hearing damage occurred several years ago. However, the procedure brought the tinnitus back full force. I called in to speak about my experience and rather than being met with care and consideration my experience was called into doubt and I was met with a lot of defensiveness. I dont feel this is upholding a good patient doctor relationship- one of care, and interest in the patients experience. Also, it is important to know when new technology effects certain subgroups negatively. I have to say that the receptionists here were always kind and considerate but aside from that I would never return here. Especially in a dentists office I want to feel cared for!

The office is in a very convenient location and has been nicely updated. Parking in Boulder is often an issue and I love that they have a private lot. Ive had two checkups with Dr. Smith (after being a long-time patient of Dr. Simpson), and recently the first extensive dental work. It was terrific. My new crown was measured, designed, manufactured and inserted all in one two-hour visit. Dr. Smith has invested heavily in new equipment and in updating the office decor, with wonderful results. It was fascinating to see the digital design and manufacture (no more goop for impressions, and no more need for a temporary crown!). The staff is as helpful and courteous as always. I went in today for my first appointment with BCD and was very impressed. Using some rather high tech gadgetry, Dr. Smith was able to show me things about my teeth and jaws that I had never seen before. He really seems to know his stuff. I am a new patient and came in to have a second opinion on both a crown and surface fillings. They were able to fit me in and not charge for the exam. Based on their care and follow up I decided to have the crown done here. The crown was twice the price but done in office and in one visit which was really valuable to me. They also took a more conservative approach and did not recommend the rest of the work added on by the other office. I trust Dr. Smith because he was able to clearly communicate his recommendations and treatment plan.

I recently visited Dr. Smith to have a crown placed. It was such a great experience. I got to physically see every step, from the xray , the computer aided drafting of my new crown, to the end of watching by crown be created right in the office. The technology was amazing. But the best part was the customer service, I felt that I was part of the process and felt included every step of the way. It was so convenient to have the entire process completed in one visit. Dr. Smith is an artist, and you get to become part of his craft.

My previous much-loved and appreciated dentist of 30 years, sadly, passed away in early spring. I thought Id never find another one who could even begin to hold a candle to such an incredible person/practitioner. Consequently, I seriously procrastinated going about doing so. Well, what a foolish thing that was to have done!!! A friend suggested I make an appointment with Dr. Jon, and when I finally reluctantly got around to scheduling one with him I was more than pleasantly blown away!!! Oh, my goodness! I felt as if drawn from out of the Dark Ages! He is so current with modern, up-to-date dentistry technology, so incredibly intelligent and personable, clearly genuinely caring and concerned about my personal dental health...I knew I had found my man!! Ive since had a crown painlessly replaced (he worked hard and saved the tooth that another dentist might not have been willing or able to save), and later had a regular, general cleaning with Shelly. Delightful people! Comfortable experiences, both. The entire office is staffed with friendly, warm people. They operate like family...and I like that! I was visiting from out of State for my Sons CU Graduation, my tooth started shooting pain, I went immediately to a oral surgeon in the area who recommended Jon at Boulder Canyon dental and helped me get into see Jon that day. Jon took my old crown off cleaned out all the decay, saved me from having a root canal and put a new cap on. I was done in a couple of hours. I just visited Dr. Jon today for my first crown with him. The CEREC system he uses was amazing to see in action! 3D imaged my tooth and made the permanent crown right there in the office within an hour. A perfect fit with no adjustments needed. Dr. Jon was great to explain the process, system and answer all questions I had. A great experience and has greatly reduced the fear I have about major dental work.

Horrible customer service for a first-time patient. Here is the letter I wrote the awful receptionist explaining exactly why I refuse to visit this office. I doubt that the Dentist will ever see the email, and the receptionist did not acknowledge her behavior when she replied, so Ill leave this review instead:Hi Carole,I would like to cancel my appointment at the Boulder office on February 18th. I am not happy with the level of customer service that you displayed on the phone yesterday and I do not feel comfortable visiting this office because of it. I feel that I had a valid point, the same point that causes most offices to have a cancellation fee when a patient cancels the day of an appointment, regardless of illness or otherwise. A sudden cancellation causes your business to lose money, which makes a cancellation fee justifiable. Your sudden cancellation of my appointment caused me to lose over $100 in wages that I could have earned had I not had my shift covered for this appointment.I fully understand if there is nothing you can do to help my situation, but I felt you could have executed your explanations with more kindness and understanding. Sarcastically stating that the dentist is sick, not out skiing or something and the condescending tone you used when you said you couldnt read my mind was enough to put me off. I fully empathize with the dentist being sick. I understand if theres nothing you can do about me losing an evening of serving wages, but perhaps if you had expressed that in a kind manner, I wouldnt have left the conversation feeling offended. I dont believe that this is a good way to treat a brand new patient. I have scheduled an appointment with another Dentist office for next week.

Best crown experience ever! I have more crowns than I like to count and was aprehensive in replacing one done in 1993. Dr. Jon and his staff were fantastic in explaining each step of the process and I marvel at the new technologies. After working in the dental field for over 20 years I have to say I was amazed to have this great experience! Thank you Boulder Canyon Dental.

Wow! Very impressed! This dental office has it all. From friendly staff to the latest technology. I had my teethed cleaned by Shelly and what a Gem!!! She is so nice and full of knowledge. Then, bummer for me I had to get an old crown reworked on. (From and different Dentist about ten years back) I’m always a little nervous getting major work done. But the staff was so great at making me feel relaxed and Dr. Jon not only explained everything that he was doing but showed me on the computer screen! (It wasn’t gross like I thought it would be.) Hands down this has got to be the best place for those no so pleasant dental procedures!!!

Dr. Jon Smith did an impressively thorough and careful diagnostic examination of my teeth. I enjoyed meeting him. The staff is wonderful and the newly remodeled office is beautiful.

Ive visited this destist for more that a decade and I have always had a great experience whenever I come in. It was beautifully remodeled and is a pleasent place to be. While your teeth are being cleaned you can look out the windows and see squirrels eating corn on the deck. All the people are great and do an excellent job of keeping your teeth clean and healthy. I would recommend Boulder Canyon Dental to anyone.

After a long and arduous relationship with my past dentist in Denver, I decided to seek out a new office closer to home. I am so grateful I did! The office staff is friendly and really welcoming of new patients. They answered all of my insurance questions, let me know what to expect for my first appointment, and made sure that the appointment they scheduled was considerate of my schedule. The office space has a really cool vibe: lots of natural light and big windows, with cool pictures on the walls of the doctors and their pups hiking. My first appointment ended with Dr. Jon showing me one of the coolest things I have ever seen: a 3-D scan of my own skull, which he used to show me where I needed a filling, and how he would fix a previous filling from my past doctor. These guys are up on all of the latest science and tech in their field.The process of getting the filling was COMPLETELY PAINLESS and I was in and out in about 30 minutes! I cant believe how lucky I am to have found this office just a few blocks from home.

Super friendly and accommodating staff. They always tell me I have perfect teeth :) I had been seeing Dr. Simpson for years and wasnt sure if Id continue with Dr. Jon. Im glad I did!

Been to over a half dozen different dentists, and had some pretty extensive work done, and this is by far my best experience. Dr. Jon and the rest of his staff are personal, professional and demonstrate exquisite expertise in the latest dental technology.

Definitely recommend Dr. Smith and his team. I moved to Denver almost 2 years ago and within the first 2 months my front tooth veneer cracked. The only people I knew were from Boulder and recommended Dr. Simpson (the prior owner of the practice). I set an appointment for a dentist in Denver and on my way home called Dr. Smiths office. Carole, the receptionist told me there was an opening in 20 minutes if I could make it and wow, am I glad I made it. He fixed the cracked tooth that day and within the next couple of months I got a new set of porcelain veneers. They looked amazing. I also got some much needed TLC with other procedures done. I make the trek from Denver because they are that good!

Going to Bouder Canyon Dental was the BEST dental experience I ever had. All the staff is so kind, knowledgeable, and very caring. And the owners Jon and Amy are down to earth. Also, the technology is through the roof. It felt like I was on the Star Trek Enterprise. I am (honestly) looking forward to my next dentist appointment 6 months from now.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Smith’s and BCD for several years. Dr. Smith and the staff have always gone out of their way to accommodate my needs, and more importantly, they always hold my interests at the highest level. They are always transparent in evaualtion of my exams, and of treatment plans. On any occasion I’ve had painful or concerning issues, theyve been immediately responsive and have made appointments ASAP to address my issues. I can’t recommend them enough...

Dr. Jon has invested in the best technology to make your dental experience as easy as possible. He can make you a crown while you wait and the computer actually makes it for you. Very cool. The 3d X-ray can help them see if you have any internal problems. I would highly recommend them. And Shelley the hygenist is awesome as well!
