They did an inspection of my vehicle and recommended necessary maintenance, but they weren’t pushy.

I was impressed with the professionalism of the staff and the work/inspection report. They werent able to address my issue immediately, but they did so appropriately and fairly, taking the time to explain the circumstances and maintaining effective communication throughout the process.

Had a hose burst off the radiator. The repair was handled once the mechanic determined no other issues needed to be addressed. The team was straightforward with their assessment and let me know what needed to be addressed first and what could wait for a later date. I appreciate their honesty.

Absolutely fantastic work. Eric was very professional and also explained the details each step of the way. I learned a lot! I had the break pads, rotors and break shoes replaced and my Honda drives very smooth. If youre not sure which mechanic to go to in Bellingham, I recommend Bellingham Automotive :)

I have an old Suburban thats over 20 years old. its been in my family its entire life. Its seen better days, but this month, I was afraid that we were looking at its final days. Five Stars are clearly not enough for Derek the service manager, and his team including Gary and Dakota. These folks are truly amazing, and were so kind and gracious last week when I rolled into their parking lot late on Thursday afternoon with my drivers side window in desperate need of repair. The mechanism that holds the window in place broke, so the window suddenly disappeared into the door frame and would not roll up. I had 1250 pounds of frozen Salmon that I was transporting to my restaurant in Monroe and needed to get it under refrigeration asap,So, with the prospect of having to drive two hours on the freeway in the pouring rain with a broken window and Salmon starting to thaw, I figured I would make one attempt to look for HELP. While driving by, I was compelled to stop at Bellingham Automotive because the place looked amazing, clean and well cared for, which is extremely important to me. Having nothing to lose, and prepared for the answer being (NO we cannot help you at this time) I proceeded to walk into their business office and this is where I was greeted by Derek with an ingratiating on smile.After giving him a quick explanation of my window problem and the thawing Salmon on board Derek said lets take a look and see if we can help. To my amazement, they immediately took my truck, and with a team of 3-4 hard working guys, had my window up and repaired within 30 minutes.I have been in the hospitality business for 35 years and was so impressed with their vibe, attitude, kindness, willingness to help someone in need and crazy generosity. They absolutely would not let me pay for the repair, even after trying several times with my credit card. I was truly blown away by their business instincts, operating standards and values that have obviously been passed down from the leadership/management to their entire team. The crew is very professional and clearly explained all the procedures they did on my vehicle. I have some knowledge and background in mechanics but they explained in a way so that if you didnt have any experience you could still understand. Eric was my service advisor and was super friendly and easy to talk to. My truck has a lot of accrued miles and was in need of some expected repairs for the age and usage of my vehicle. They were helpful in explaining the order of importance for repairs and why so I could work out the timing of repairs with my budget. My truck is now driving like a new vehicle. I was also pleasantly surprised that they vacuumed the pine needles that always quickly build up on my driver side floor. That tiny extra task was super nice of them and totally made my night. They are slightly on the higher end of pricing but they are upfront about their costs and never do any work without permission so you are not left in the dark or with unexpected costs. Their service compared to the less-than-satisfying experiences with other local shops makes me feel the cost is worth every penny. A former shop quoted me for a job that seemed legitimate but also a large job I suspected was not actually a legitimate repair. When I inspected my truck personally I couldnt match the issue they claimed. Bellingham Automotive never mentioned the said issue but did mention the repairs that did check out to be true. As a female, I have to be extra safe in making sure I am not being duped and this shop has definitely built a positive relationship and trust.

They worked on both my boyfriend’s car and my car back to back. Throughout the whole process, they were very kind and communicated the whole process. They have a specialized page you can go to to see all the tests they do for the car. They explain everything well to you. Overall very pleased and will be taking my car here again if I ever need work done. The labor fees always get you though. My parts (for example) were $198 and the labor was $260. But this was money well spent in my opinion.

I needed my cv axel replaced and they did a stellar job, it was done faster then expected and the quality was awesome!! I felt like they weren’t trying to pull anything over on me. As a woman it can be scary taking you car in because so many auto shop try and pull a fast on one you, I work with car and it still happens to me. The guys who work here were super nice and very up front about everything. I already recommended their shop to people because I had heard great thing but now I have experience it first had! It really pains me to have to write this review because Ive had a number of good experiences with Bellingham Automotive in the past, but this last visit was so distasteful, I feel compelled to let others know.I drive an older Nissan which was experiencing a vibration in the engine and check engine light for several weeks. I’m relatively capable with basic auto maintenance, so I used my OBDII scanner to find a few diagnostic codes which helped me identify the problem in the engine. The issue was a cylinder 1 misfire (P0301), which can have a number of different causes. The simple and cheap fix is replacing the spark plug and wires to see if this solves the issue. However, sometimes this issue can be caused by a dirty fuel injector or fuel filter, among other more complicated fixes. It’s currently holiday season and I’ve been busy, so instead of doing the spark plug and wire myself, I decided to take it to the shop to pay them the extra it would cost for a more detailed inspection and the labor for doing all of the plugs and wires. My assumption is this would be about ~$100-150 extra than if I had done it myself, so about $200 total with parts and labor.When I got the call about what they found, they told me the repair cost would be around $900. Shocked, I asked what else they found in the inspection, and I was told they believe it’s just a spark plug and wire, but they also wanted to do a fuel filter to be on the safe side. I told them it’s impossible for plugs, wires, and a fuel filter to cost $900. After some back and forth, I told them not to do it and I would come pick it up.When I picked up the vehicle, the problem was significantly worse than when I dropped it off. I popped the hood and found the fuel injector cable to be disconnected, which would absolutely make the problem much worse and may cause serious damage to the engine if someone did not know any better.When I read the report on the invoice, I was even more shocked. Their diagnostic report was nearly identical to what my OBDII scanner told me (a $20 part from the auto store). It also states, “Test drove vehicle and could not duplicate customers concern.” It also says, “Checked resistance to #1 injector and is in spec at this time.” Meaning, if they checked the injector and did not notice the vibration in the engine while driving, someone purposefully disconnected the injector then gave it back to me.In total, I was charged $130 plus tax for this diagnostic. I picked up 2 spark plugs and a wireset from OReilly’s in Bellingham for $52 before tax. You also need a spark plug socket (if you don’t already have one), about $8 more. No crazy tools required. These are after market, higher quality plugs and wires, as well. The amount I was quoted for the same parts at Bellingham Automotive was exactly $500. Yes, $500 for plugs and wires. I was also quoted $145 for a fuel filter. A high quality fuel filter costs about $25 at OReilly’s.Doing the plug and wire for cylinder 1 myself fixed the issue. It took about 10 minutes of my time.I don’t like to make assumptions about someone’s motivation, but I will add that I am a younger woman and generally dont talk shop to make it clear I know what I’m talking about. I told them the details of my own diagnostic in hopes they would simply do the labor part for me to help me out around the holidays. In exchange, I’d give them my business for the labor. Seemed pretty straight forward to me, but Bellingham Automotive went the extra mile to try and take advantage of me. Needless to say, Im sorely disappointed.If you take your vehicle here, please request a detailed, written statement containing quotes for parts and any inspection/labor costs ahead of time. Know exactly what theyre doing and why it costs what it costs. For older vehicles, check out 1aauto.com - they have an incredible library of tutorials and videos done by professional mechanics teaching you how to understand and work on your own vehicle. In many cases, it’s fairly simple stuff to understand and you can go into the shop prepared to ask questions.

Ive been taking my 1992 Toyota PU to Bellingham Automotive for about 20 years now. Theyve done excellent work on it. Recently I needed to have the timing belt replaced along with some other work. Now my truck runs like it did when it was brand new. These folks do a wonderful job.

Nice staff with quick response times however labor costs are very expensive. For example, I was getting multiple things done and they suggested my cabin air filter be replaced, they charged $54.00 for labor alone when the task takes less than 5 minutes.

I asked a friend at church where was a trustworthy auto repair place, and he recommended Bellingham Auto. That was five years ago and I have been coming back ever since. I have had a couple issues where they could have pushed for more work but they didnt. So they have been honest and straight forward with me.This is huge for me since Ive had other repair places inflate repair costs over what I found out later were bogus reasons.

Pricey. Was charged almost $700 for a starter replacement on my civic. Which is insane. A new decent starter at any parts store is $200-$250. So they charged me almost $500 in labor to undo 2 bolts and a wire. Wack

My car that my son drives wouldnt start so I had it towed to Bellingham automotive. They made $1200 in repairs in a weeks time without ever having my approval, based on phone calls only with my son. They rushed to get the job done without doing their due diligence so wed would be responsible for an exorbitant bill on a car barely worth that much. Minors do not have the legal authority to enter into such a contract, and Bellingham Automotive said thats just not part of their process. I hope they make it part of their process now because not only was their approach dishonest to back us into a ridiculous bill, it was illegal to enter into a contract with a minor.

They wanted to overcharge me about $200 and kept pushing an additional ~$150 in unnecessary work. Theyre really polite and have a free shuttle but GOOD LORDExtremely dishonest. And they wouldnt stop pushing fuel injection cleaning and transmission flushes.
