Paid $71 for a smog they could even perform. Then wanted another $60 for retest. OUCH!! I understand if I failed and if it needed to be retested, but they couldnt even test it the first time. The guy next door with much more helpful and wasnt just after my credit card, plus FREE RETEST!There are better places around town. I thought this was one of them.

My son took.his car here because he had a check engine light on. They diagnosed it ,fixed it, a week later the light was back on. They fixed it again and what do you know, a week later light on again. He took it back, they had real poor attitudes. They called him to say its either your sensor or some other $650 problem (that seem to be the magic price because eveytime they wanted more money) when my son decided not to get what it may be fixed, they had the nerve to charge him a $136 diagnostic fee. For a problem they didnt find originally. And it may be the sensor or may be some other expensive problem. What you mean may be?

I cant say enough about Mike and the Blue Ribbon Automotive shop. They have been caring for our company vehicles and I always take my personal vehicles there for all my needs.

I had taken my vehicle to get repaired on a Monday and my vehicle was stolen while it was stored at their facility overnight. I was contacted by the B.P.D. in the middle of the night and I was lucky that my vehicle was recovered. Well I called to check on my vehicle the very next morning and I happened to ask the status of my vehicle and was told it was being worked on. Well after informing them that my vehicle had in fact been stolen and was recovered and was sitting in my driveway they were astonished. Well I happened to ask for their insurance (since my vehicle was in their lot) and was given the runaround. But I filed a police report and am awaiting to hear from blue ribbon automotive. Its going on 3 weeks now. Needless to say there are some shady things going on over there and I will be taking my business elsewhere and I reccomend everyone else do the same.

This is the absolute worst shop they not only overcharge they cant even smog our vehicle they charged my mom over 600 for nothing no smog just a hole in her pocket. Shes an elderly woman and i know thats why they took advantage of her. Dont bring your car to these guys.

Fast and efficient! Dropped off our motorhome in the A.M. they advised it would be a couple of hours due to customers ahead of us. They called is about 1 hour later to advise the test was complete. They are very pleasant and friendly. Will be back and will recommend.

I havent even been to the shop but I had to give them thanks. Im a diesel mechanic and work on a few things on my personal Ford. Recently I changed out the PCM and called them up to have the new one programmed. I was on hold for a little while but I didnt mind because the secretary asked a few people there and found out that since I ordered it using my VIN number, it was already programed to my key and set to CA CARB standards. My husband was taken advantage of by this shop. My husband is an honest, hard working man whos kindness resulted in him being taken advantage of. Our car has never ran worse than it did after being worked on by Blue Ribbon Automotive and to make matters worse, we were charged twice as much as other neighboring shops would have charged. My husband failed to verify that the price that was quoted was a fair price until after we picked up our car. I suggest you stay clear of this shop

Came in to have my ac charged before summer. It worked when I pulled in just wasn’t blowing as cold as it should. After charging it and me paying to have it done they say now the compressor isn’t working. It now blows hot. They say bring it back in the morning to diagnose the problem $139 for that. Then they tell me it will be over $1000 to fix it now. Use anyone else don’t let them screw up you ur car.

This is a top notch shop. The diagnostic specialists are first rate. I dont believe these negative reviews. In fact, I saw them and thought, I gotta take my next smog check there to see whats going on. Sure enough, looks like their competitors are playing dirty and making up stuff. I took an old beater van in there with over 300k miles. It would have been a gold mine for a crooked shop. But Blue Ribbon passed it, no problem. Its still got a few more miles left, the technician told me with a smile. As a mechanic, Ive learned that youre a lot better off to go to the best outfits if you dont have the equipment to do it yourself. That way you dont get taken advantage of. The thing that kills me about some of these reviews is that if your car does fail the smog test, a good shop gives you a list of what is needed and provides you with an estimate that has to fall within a 10% range, I think, if you want them to do it. You can have anybody do it! You can do it yourself, if youre handy. The first thing Blue Ribbon does is help you with the California financial assistance program to save you money - up to $500. Theyve got signs on the wall telling you about it. And no, Ive never been in there before. Dont know them personally. I can recognize a good shop when I walk in, thats all. I just get pissed off when I see negative reviews running down a good shop with honest, hard working mechanics.

First time here. Just purchased a used vehicle and needed a smog without the long wait. I must say, the way was very minimal and the customer service was excellent! They’ve now gained a longtime customer!

Took my 08 Ram in for a/c blend door issues and when i called was told $820. I dropped my truck off with them to fix the issue. The first night that i dropped it off they parked it out back with a lot of stereo equipment and light bard on it and no security measures in place. That same night someone broke the window out rummaged through everything funny thing is all that was taken was the owners manual. They also pried open the toolbox in the back of truckand destroyed the locks and lip of box. Owner said he would take care of it but all it has been is about 2 months of excused.They never called me to give me an update on the truck but everytime i called to see what was taking so long they would say oh we found more wrong. The final price for the repairs was $2600 and they still have not taken care of the box issues. Everytime i call it is an excuse. Hasnt had time then he was sick then it was in the back of his truck at the tint shop and today he ordered it online and it hasnt got here yet. Very poor customee seevice and dont take responsibility to take care of customee . Will never use them again and will tell nayone going there not to.

They were great before but now they have some new faces. I do believe this place is a scam I have not ever had a problem before but now I go in with a car that I have never had an issue with and walk out with a engine light. They dont say much in how to help or let me know about the CAP program they just said to pay them $99 for a diagnostic it made it sound like they are after the money more then helping. A few hours later my engine light is gone and now I would be taking my business elsewhere they lost this customer.

I am sharing my experience hoping to spare anyone else of the most frustrating and exhausting time I have ever experienced in trying to get my car smogged. I had a 1989 Acura Legend that needed a star smog inspection. I took my car to Blue Ribbon Automotive which I regret doing. My Acura had always passed smog and after visiting Blue Ribbon, my car was failed. Blue Ribbon Automotive was paid several hundred dollars and they did absolutely nothing to help my car pass smog. All they could do was ask for more money, more money. It seemed as though they did not have a clue and did not know what they were doing. It was obvious that they were guessing of the necessary repairs, at my expense? At the time, if you qualified and were having to spend over a certain amount on repairs, you could go to the California State referee for assistance, which I did and I was awarded the maximum amount for repairs. I basically took a blank check back to Blue Ribbon and received nothing in return. I really regret going to Blue Ribbon Automotive because after having my car for 30 days, they still wanted an additional 125 dollars for an oil change. When I left Blue Ribbon, my car ran WORSE than it EVER had. The car failed for high COs which means the car was running rich. Blue Ribbon said it needed a distributor. I took my car to two other independent mechanics for a second opinion and I was told that the distributor shaft only had a very minor oil leak and by replacing the distributor, it would do nothing to lower my cos and help me pass smog. After showing the smog papers to the independent shops, they pointed out that according to the first and last smog performed by Blue Ribbon, none of the repairs they performed did ANYTHING to help my running rich issue. THE CAR WAS RUNNING RICH AND BY REPLACING MY $700 DISTRIBUTOR, IT WOULD NOT HAVE HELPED MY CAR PASS SMOG! The mechanics at the independent shops laughed and shook their heads but were nice about it, I felt so screwed. What I needed was an HONEST mechanic. I understand that people make mistakes but Blue Ribbon made NO apologies nor did they want to make it right. They took every penny I had plus money from the State and my car ran so poorly, I could barely drive the car to the State Referee. The car was running fine when Blue Ribbon started working on it. Ultimately, I was offered $1,500 dollars by the state to retire the vehicle. I took the money because Blue Ribbon had left me with a car that was not drive able, did not pass smog, I was left with no more savings, and I was several months without a car to drive before all was said and done. My case is documented with the State of California and my name is Dan Anderson. In my opinion Blue Ribbon has no business doing smog checks and I would never take another vehicle to this institution.By the way,I do not believe the review written by Rick Masters which states I dont believe these negative reviews. In fact, I saw them and thought, I gotta take my next smog check there to see whats going on. Sure enough, looks like their competitors are playing dirty and making up stuffHa Ha, yeah, looks like a legitimate review,I have a good idea, lets take our car to a shop with a lot of negative reviews to see if the negative reviews are legitimate Is Rick Masters aka Mike Myers or someone Mike knows?? Was told there would be zero wait to get my car smogged, and that the process would take 15 minutes. Thirty minutes later, it had still not been touched. The car was finished after a one-hour wait, only 10 minutes of which actually involved Blue Ribbon working on it. 10 minutes for $60--not a bad business to be in. Ill be trying another shop on Schirra next time I need work done, though.

I went to the DMV to change my car over into my name and they said i needed a smog and i noticed Blue Ribbon right down the street and decided to go there. I walked in expecting to have to make an appointment for another day. They said they dont do appointments but that there was only a couple of people ahead of me and i could do it that day. so i said ok and within 20 minutes my car had passed and i was on my way back to the DMV to finish up. I was very satisfied with the speed of service and the reasonable price of $60. It was a great experience, with great people. I will make sure to use them for all of my future smogs and my car has had some trouble lately and i plan on taking it to Blue Ribbon to get fixed tomorrow.

People are friendly but they take forever with your car and dont even bother to call you when they have worked on it. My suggestion, make this place your last resort. Meaning, only go here if you really need to like if your car died and Blue Ribbon was just across the street.

I tried smogging my car at another smog place, they told me it couldnt communicate with there machine and couldnt tell me why.. I went to blue Ribbon , Prompt courteous service and my car passed. I will be back

Avoid at all cost! They will try and scam you for every cent that you have. My car has a legal aftermarket cold air intake, and the car has not had any problems passing until a couple days ago that I decided to take it in here. Took my car in to get it smogged, and after doing the test they told me that it had not passed. I looked at the test results and everything passed except for a visual inspection. They had told me that I had tampered with the pcv wiring, that it was not connected. Why didnt the guy tell me that it was not connected in the first place before doing the test. Honest people would have told customers before. Charged me a fee of 51.00. Okay, I was not mad about him not letting me know before hand.What I got mad about was the fact that the following day I took in the instructions manual for installing the intake to show the guy that everything was indeed connected correctly. He agrees that everything was indeed okay, but then comes up with another excuse not to retest it for free. At the time I had the intake as a short ram intake and he goes on to tell me that since my intake was not designed to be short ram intake but rather a cold air intake he wanted me to install the extension pipe and take it back in for a retest and another fee. Argued with him that short or cold air, are exactly the same thing, and that the other pipe was just a mere extension to the short ram and that it would not make a difference in test results, and people could make it short for rainy weather conditions. Left angry. Took it to another shop and I asked the guy about the short vs cold air and he told me that it would make no difference. He didnt even mention tampered pcv wiring, as everything was connected correctly from the start. Car passed and no I did not pay him to pass it.

Ripped me off×! I told them what the problem was yet they replaced spark plugs, caps rotor which were only 1 year old, 3000 miles. The issue was a loose wire in the distributor. They also ducked me in for a new carburetor which hasnt worked correctly since installation.

They are so unreliable and total ripoffs. Worst experience ever!
