This is the best experience I’ve had with a dentist since I moved to Austin. The office staff were very friendly and helpful and it was easy to make an appointment. I went in because I had a chip in my front tooth and they were able to fix my chip the same day. The dental hygienist, Chloe, did a very good job of explaining everything she was doing as she was doing it and provided clear steps for future treatments. Dr Hoover did an amazing job fixing the chip in my tooth! The color matches perfectly and you can’t tell that’s it’s filled in at all, I was astonished by how great they look afterwards. The office environment was clean and very comforting. I’ve been weary of going to the dentist in the past because I don’t trust a lot people in my mouth but Both the doctor and the staff were so knowledgeable and friendly that I had no problem with trusting them to fix my teeth. I am going back in a few weeks for a deep cleaning. Thanks for making it a great experience!

I love the environment in this office, everyone is always so nice and happy to be there!! I had cosmetic work done for discoloration on my teeth and am beyond happy with the results! I got zoom whitening done along with icon treatment leaving my teeth looking white and healthy!! This is all around such a great place!!

Dr. Hoover and her staff are like a second family. From the receptionist - to the dental assistant - to the doctor, they truly listen to their patient’s desires and communicate well. My 8 year old daughter chipped her front tooth this weekend and About Smiles MADE time to see us today (even though their schedule was full). The best part is that no one will ever know a chunk of my daughter’s front tooth is actually a filling! That’s how great her work is! Dr. Hoover is the only dentist I’ll ever let touch my/my kids teeth.

I went to see Dr. Hoover to get some cavities filled and she was so great at making me feel comfortable. I get really bad anxiety when going to the dentist but she was great about always talking to me and telling me what shes doing and why. We also took my daughter to Dr. Hoover for a second opinion after another dental office had given us an outrageous treatment plan for our 6 year old. Dr. Hoover explained what we needed and didnt need and I felt that her recommendations for both myself and our daughter were reasonable and that she is not one to push unnecessary work on patients just to make a buck. All in all, Dr. Hoover is caring, easy to talk to, and trustworthy. I highly recommend!

Have Had really great experiences from the time I was checked in by the kind and charismatic Bianca to the hygienist Chloe who took good care of me and even did a deep clean same day to Dr Lane who did my initial exam and Dr Herman who did a couple of fillings on me. The owner Dr Hoover is very kind and made sure to say hello and make me feel welcome. I highly recommend this office.

This is the first time I have written a Google review for anyone but it is deserving. I had nothing but great experiences while going to see Dr. Lauren. Her team was great and she did a great job explaining everything that she was doing and listening to what I had to say. She kept me calm during all of my appointment and answered all of my questions. After seeing many different dentists I can say that Dr. Lauren and her team are the best I have seen and I will continue to go there and would highly recommend them to anyone. Many years ago when I had a dental emergency and new to town, these people were the only ones who gave me same day appointment. I stuck to them as a default. However, today I write this as I walked out of this place after I found out they did not require their staff to be vaccinated. They told me they had a choice and I told them I had mine and walked out. The practice is not the same as what it was with Dr. Smith many years ago. I was moderately happy with them, but saying you have a choice to be vaccinated or not is the same as saying you have choice to infect others and destroy the world! Not acceptable - this has got to stop!

Dr. Gretchen Hoover is possibly the sweetest, kindest, most compassionate, and the most skilled at her craft Dentist I have ever come into contact with!! I have been in the dental business for over 30 years and never have I met a dentist that cared so much about my smile and making me happy. She took my old worn out crowns and veneers that I have collected throughout the years, and turned my smile into a work of art. Why? Because she truly cares and has a huge heart of gold! I love my new teeth and smile so much more now. She goes out of her way to make your visits comfortable and painless. I love her and her staff, especially Kris that spent way too much of his time to make the perfect temporary! I would recommend Dr. Hoover to anyone, especially if you are the least bit apprehensive about getting any dentistry done. She is awesome, love her!!!

We normally do not equate comfort with going to the Dentist, but from the time I walked into the office of About Smiles on Western Trails and was greeted by the Receptionist until the time I was checked out by the kind and patient person who takes payments, I felt not only comfortable but also like everyone who works there, from Receptionist, to Dr. Lane, to his assistants and anyone else I may have forgotten, possessed the utmost competence in their individual roles. The only dentist I’ll go to in Austin! I used to be a client years ago and recently went back to have some problems taken care of. The entire staff was hospitable as ever. They always made me feel welcomed while I was in the building. I was having a dental emergency and they were able to work with me to get it all resolved the same day. As someone without insurance, this is always the scary part but they offered a plan that helped me make it work. I spoke with both Dr. Hoover and Dr. Lane who were professional and made me feel relaxed! The procedure took about an hour but Don made it as comfortable as possible. She was both reassuring and professional! I will no doubt be back in the future, and not just because I have a follow-up on Monday!

I absolutely love this place! They helped me take care of my teeth and feel better about my smile! I always felt anxious about getting my teeth looked at and they are always patient and kind with me. I would recommend this place all the way! Never had a bad experience. They check on you and make sure you’re okay after a procedure and work with you if you need anything. Love you guys!

BEST experience ever for a cavity filling!! I told him after he was done that he can fill all of my teeth -- haha - I only had one cavity. Dr. Lane and Dawn are amazing! I had a filling that was improperly placed a couple of years ago by another dentist. Ever since then, Ive had sensitivity in that area (never had issues before the filling) and would avoid eating on that side. My then dentist attempted to correct it and said I would need a root canal if the problem persisted. Dr. Lane was able to replace the old filling with no problem and my sensitivity is gone! He and his staff do a great job of explaining treatment options without making you feel rushed. I have seen Dawn, the hygienist, for a couple of cleanings now. Shes friendly, thorough, and has great energy. Great experience here overall!

Very Friendly and Competent People. I changed dentist twice over the last couple of years because I did not feel comfortable or confident at the other dentists. There is a lot of activity going on here and everyone seemed genuinely happy which is a good thing for your dentist to be! My crown was fixed in one day. No returning. Its not a fancy place. Nor pretentious. Just nice people doing good work.

The hygienist (Megan) who cleaned my teeth was awesome! I thought my old dentist rocked (he was recommended by a co-worker & I always recod him to others), but this gal was really great -- she talked me through what she was doing (like grading each tooth by number maybe b/c was my 1st time?) and then I had one of the smoothest, easiest cleanings Ive ever had. I mean, of course, there was some brief arm chair gripping (its the dentist, you know!), but really there was not one.single.painful poke. I do floss regularly, so she was giving me big stars for that. :-) Between her easy chatting and the Food Network show with close captioning on TV above me, the appointment was over before I knew it.

OH MY GOSH. The last time I went to a dentist office I liked this much it was technically my orthodontist and that was over a decade ago.Adrienne and Kay were amazing and funny and caring. Literally, everything you could want in a staff at the dentist off.It was beautifully decorated and calming. I dont even mind that I have to go back in three months. My teeth feel amazing! This group of Dentist & Assistants are FANTASTIC! I previously went to the same Dentist since I was a child, until he retired and I continued to see his replacement, for years until I found About Smiles! I have been so happy with their professionalism & courtesy. Their scheduling staff is kind and courteous. And the Dentist are very thorough! If you are looking for long term, professional dental care, this is the place to go! I have had cleaning, X-rays and one crown, over the past two years. I highly recommend them! 😃

The services they provided me were OK (crown). However, their front office cant seem to get on the same page with insurance or doesnt understand the process. Every visit there would be an additional charge due to Our calculations on what the insurance would cover were wrong. I have not had this problem with other dentists. Today they claimed I owed another $219 due to wrong calculations. That was enough for me. Time to find another dentist; one with competent front office. Like I said, their services seem OK, but if you choose this provider, be prepared for more costs than they initially quote you.And for anyone wondering how this company can get a five star review just look at the majority of the posters and you will see that they only have one or two reviews.

My experience was wonderful! I was elated with such positive information that I received here. I loved the pictures that I left with to inspire me of what my smile could look like at the end. All of the staff, Hygienists, and Doctors helped me to go ahead and embrace my periodontal disease because it affects my overall health.

Dr. Hoover is extremely personable and the opposite of what you think of when you think of the dentist. She was so non-judgemental of all the things that were going on. She knew I had been doing the best I could with all the moving that I have done over the past several years. Dr. Hoover was very practical in her assessment and in developing a plan forward. Pain free dentistry isnt lip service. I was delighted to learn they were in-network for my Cigna plan after being highly recommended by my sister. The staff were friendly, accommodating, flexible and not judgemental of my 7 year hiatus from regular dentist visits. Dr. Lane was Live! In concert entertaining me with his vocal talents while admistering local anesthesia to ensure i was comfortable during my deep cleaning. Dawn was quite the trooper and tackled my teeth. Thank you!

Horrible staff. Rude and not helpful. I got a filling that cost me over $700 and was under warranty for five years. Two years later it snapped and broke while eating brown rice. I went to a different dentist in Dallas and they told me it was improperly put in. This place wouldn’t even fix it for free and decided to let me know this 1 week before I was going to fly in to see them from Dallas! I get regular cleanings here in Dallas and my dentist here said he would send them my chart to show documentation of my regular cleanings. I would stay far away from this place there are too many amazing other dental offices in Austin. This is not one of them.

Im so glad I finally made an appointment at the dentist. I heard about them on the radio and the DJ said they were good so I decided to check for myself. Very clean and relaxed atmosphere in the office. The doctors there were easy to talk to and I would definitely return. I had my teeth cleaned and Dr. Hoover fixed an old filling for me ... it was so easy and painless!

Dr. Gretchen Hoover is the best dentist I have ever had. One of the receptionists, Starr, is my favorite too. It is so easy to get information, prices, appointments, rescheduled appointments, etc. Healthcare is scary and not always easy, but this dental practice has been such a sigh of relief for me and my teeth!

Warm and welcoming staff. Nice facilities and modern equipment. Dentists have friendly patient focused demeanor, I didnt feel rushed. Post-visit billing was also handled well, which is a very rare quality indeed.

Be weary of their service charges. Flawed communication between front office and service providers. Services did not fall in line with my dental benefit package resulting in additional out of pocket costs to the patient. Patient shouldve been made aware of options before performing services that is not covered by dental plan.
