Honestly I can never give these folks enough praise. Always on top of things and communicative. I started using Hopkins Tax and Consulting back when I was in business for myself and taxes were complicated. Now even though I am no longer in business for myself, Charles and his amazing tax professionals are still finding ways to save me money and help me to plan for my retirement.

Do not use this company!! I submitted my tax information 3 months ago and paid $574. I have yet to receive any phone call or email about my returns. I have called several times only to find out they misplaced my information. Then it’s been excuse after excuse about how busy they are. Now because of their negligence my taxes will be late and I will incur a penalty. On top of all that, I still don’t have my returns or my money! Do not use this company! Again, we received a very high level of attention to detail that helped us for the first time in a few years actually get a return! There are several little nuance tax write offs we would have missed ourselves / know HR Block misses because we used them in years past. He gives you his undivided attention, goes through your paperwork and asks relevant questions. Happy customers two years in a row and plan to return again next year!2017 Experience: Very happy with Hopkins Tax. We had a great experience from the initial phone call to the in person meeting. He spent over an hour and a half with us going through our taxes and helping us find opportunities for deductions that no one else had covered with us in our previous two years of having people help us with prepare taxes. Hopkins Tax is super responsive. I had an urgent question concerning tax on proceeds from the sale of stock options, and the accountant I had used for my last tax filing was on an extended holiday and unable to help me. Charles was able to immediately answer my questions and recommend what I should do, and he charged me nothing for his professional advice because it was my first consultation. He is very personable in addition to being professional and highly knowledgable - definitely doesnt fit the boring accountant stereotype. Charles is amazing! The first year we used him, I was dealing with lots of 1099s for contract work and I hadnt paid any estimated taxes. When wed tried to do it online ourselves, the amount we owed was huge. Charles was able to meet us and work with all our complex stuff and find places where we hadnt considered taking deductions. The amount we owed was greatly reduced and he got us set up on a payment plan. He also got me set up on estimated taxes for the next year, and, along with some guidance on when/where/what to claim as business deductions, this paid off majorly this year! Ive pointed 5 or 6 of my friends to him for consultation, and its easy to do so without any hesitation. He knows what to look for once it comes time to file, and hes offered so many good tips on tracking the right kinds of expenses throughout the year between meetings.

2017 was our first (and last) tax year to work with Charles. It’s now Feb 2019 and we are STILL dealing with our 2017 filing. Without consulting us, Charles and his office decided to file an extension instead of filing our return on time in April, as they had assured us they would be able to do. We were not told about the extension until late on April 16th after attempting to get information for days and weeks prior. Due to not filing and paying on time, we were hit with an almost $400 penalty by the IRS.Charles assures us that he & his office filed the proper documentation with the IRS to have this penalty fee waved. However, we continue to receive notices from the IRS with interest attached to the original fee, and are now receiving notices that the IRS will seize or levy property for payment of that penalty. Charles was less than apologetic and showed a lack of interest to help when told of this latest notice.After calling the IRS ourselves, it was brought to our attention that Charles only submitted half of the paperwork needed to wave the penalty fee. We were able to get the fee waived ourselves in one phone call! But we still have to pay the interest out of our own pocket for months of lack of follow up on the part of Charles and his office.He has made excuses, citing the busy tax season and employee turn over as to how we fell, and continue to fall through the cracks. As a CPA, your job is to take care of your clients in the height of tax season and beyond. We do not feel we have been valued or cared for AT ALL in this past year - tax season or no tax season.Charles, you and your office have taken the stress of filing and paying taxes as a small business owner and added to that stress exponentially. The amount of time we have spent dealing with this mess has caused tears and taken money out of our pockets. We are small business owners with small children and this has hit us harder than just a few hundred dollars. To say we are disappointed in the job we hired you to do is a gross understatement.

While I had only set up an appt for 2 hours Charles and I went through ALL of my documents for 3.5 hours and was gracious enough to not charge me extra. This is my first (and last) year to work with Charles. As of May 7, he had not e-filed my taxes! He was paid in full before April 15, we met and discussed the filing on April 3--two weeks before the deadline to file it.After reaching out to him several times, he did file my taxes and gave me a full refund of my tax preparation fee.When I looked in my file to determine by estimated quarterly taxes, they didnt prepare anything. When I asked for it, they posted a cover sheet for the quarterly taxes, but still didnt tell me how much to send in. I believe incompetence is the word to use here.I think Charles is a nice guy and that he might be good at what he does, however he apparently has trouble managing employees and had several resign right at tax filing time. Every time I talk to his staff, they make the excuse that they are new, that the old employees left, and that theyll get back to me--which they never do.One skill Charles has been able to demonstrate is that he is really good at apologizing for all the mistakes his staff has made. Ill be finding a new CPA.

My experience with Hopkins Tax is bitter sweet. We had our appiontment on the March 24th. We arrived the building and no one was there. But we got an email confirmation on March 23rd about the appointment. We called office number and try to look around because we thought we went to a wrong building. 30 mins later Charles finally showed up. He is a knowledgeable tax accountant. Our meeting with him went well. I can tell he cares about what he is doing. I would recommendation him to anyone if you need a professional to help with your tax return. We received a discount because of the inconvenience which we appreciated it. Because of the delay of our meeting, we had to stop before we can wrap up with our returns. His second appointment was waiting. Charles said for the remaining of the return should be done no later than March 25th. We left the office so happy because we went with Hopkins TAX. I was planing to leave a good feedback till today. April 15th and we still havent get our remaining tax done. We have called so many times, and the receptionist have told us so many different stories. You are in line to complete in a few days. It should be done today or no later than tomorrow early morning. Let me check with consultant and give you a call back (Never called me back). I appreciated their service however, I thought the process should been less worry from our past experience with different tax firms. Google reviews helped me to pick the firm when I was looking. This is what has happened to us. Hope it will help out.Once the owner caught wind of what was happening with the receptionist he made every effort to remedy the situation. He was blind sided by this information and took action immediately.
