Dr. Willoughby has been working with me on a workers comp claim and she has been very thorough in developing a plan to repair my damaged teeth. All the ladies in her office are super nice and extremely competent. Highly recommend.

I needed significant dental work done and she went over the plan in great detail with me. After years of seeing dentists and having bad teeth due to my health I found them to be quite affordable For the amount of work that needed to be done. They are professional, courteous and efficient Never making me feel like I didn’t take care of my mouth as other dentists have. . They answer their phones or call back in a timely manner, even calling after each visit to make sure I am doing well and comfortable. If I do have a problem they see me as soon as possible. I am so thankful that I was referred to them and I definitely recommend Dr. Willoughby if you’re looking for a new dentist.

I am always impressed by the caring attitudes and efficient procedures of Wendy Willoughbys dentistry group. I am in my late 60s. The care that is offered is perfect for me maintaining good dental health for a long time to come. I started care there in mid 2020 when a piece of a tooth cracked off and I hadnt been to a dentist in more than 10 years. My husband was already seeing Dr Willoughby and very impressed with her.In the process of solving my problem, I got back on track. Its amazing how much progress has been made in dentistry from when I was younger. Best dental office I have ever visited! Very thorough and professional, also incredibly cleanly which is such a huge plus. Dr. Willoughby went over everything with me in detail so I knew the condition of my mouth health and how to better it. I feel more knowledgeable than I ever have about my teeth! I scheduled a routine cleaning as a new patient, as it was more conveniently located. I showed up to my appointment, informed the desk clerk I had a routine cleaning and all seemed routine. After being directed to the back, it took quite a while, and after being there an hour and a half and finally speaking with the actual dentist (who was very nice) I was presented with a plan of several thousand dollars of “suggested” work after poking around in my mouth. I was then inform the cleaning would need to be scheduled ( I finally realized they had me going through an entire oral exam that I didn’t ask for) and then I was hit with a $344 bill. I doubt others will have the same bad experience but I thought I would share some advice, reallllyyyy reiterate what you asked for and know what you are paying up front.

Dr. Bare is the best. She is not only professional but she is also gentle, understanding and has the best personality. I have recommended Dr. Bare to lots of my friends. The staff at the office was absolutely perfect. I love Dr. Bare and the staff it was actually fun going to the dentist.

This office put a porcelain 4 piece bridge in the front of my mouth four years ago. I immediately knew that something was wrong with it in that I could feel a gap between the crown and my gum. I went back numerous times to question it and I have lived with the anxiety and stress of knowing that it was not property fitted for the past four years. At one point over the past four years they put a filling in the gap, for which they charged me, knowing that there was a problem. The filling fell out within a month. At one of the visits, at which I questioned the gap, I was told by one of the dentist that I just needed to live with it. They finally recently acknowledged that there is indeed a problem and the entire bridged needs to be replaced, of course, at full price. I have crowns that have lasted 25 years in my mouth and a bridge that is even older. There is no way that this bridge should need to be replaced in 4 years if it had been properly done. I take excellent care of my teeth - flossing daily and brushing at least two to three times a day. Now, because of the poor fitting, I have decay around one of the teeth and more extensive work is going to have to be done. I made an appointment to have a second consultation, for which I was charged, with them before the work was done and I left knowing that I could never trust them to do the replacement work in that they have known for 4 years that it was not properly fitted and did nothing. I now have a worse problem, but am relieved to know that I will not be in the hands of these incompetent and unprofessional people. I was told to live with it and I hope they can live with the terrible experience I had with this office. In addition to this nightmare, they replaced two crowns a year ago from which I was having no problem with the existing crowns. I now have constant sensitivity with the new crowns and have gone back to address this issue with no resolve. I would NEVER recommend this office for anything. I dont even want to give them 1 star, but you cant post without it.

Each and every time I visit Dr. Bare, I continue to be amazed by and thankful for the welcome that I receive. I have to admit that I had bad anxiety about going to the dentist. My past experiences werent good at all. It would get to the point that I thought my heart would beat out of my chest or stop all together.When I started seeing Dr. Bare, I still had that bad anxiety. A few visits later, that have included having teeth pulled and some filled, I have no anxiety when seeing Dr. Bare. I know that she and her staff will take excellent care of me. This most recent visit, I was so relaxed that I could have taken a nap while she was working on my filling! It is amazing to feel that level of trust with my dentist.There is no where else I will go for my dental needs. She would not prescribe an antibiotic for infection, she never even looked in my mouth. 2 days later another dentist called my infection a dangerous infection and sent me to a oral surgeon the very next day, he warned me if the swelling got worse to go to the ER for IV antibiotic. I was reaching out for help, and got none, her staff was very nice...

I went to the dentist not knowing what to expect, nervous having to have a number of cavities filled. I didnt feel the shot and felt absolutely no pain during the whole thing. I highly recommend this dentist, she is fabulous. Anybody that has a fear of the dentist needs to go here. Her staff is great and wonderful experience.

Dr. Willoughby as been our dentist for 13 years. We hooked up when we moved to Asheville and we have never felt the need to look elsewhere. The relationship we have with Wendy has become like the relationship you have with your favorite cousin. Im on a walker. On my last few visits Wendy has personally helped me with the two doors leading into her office suite. This last time my wife was waiting for me in the car, saw Wendy at the doorway, hopped out of the car, and proceeded to give and get the warmest Merry Christmas hug imaginable from Wendy out in the parking lot. Besides being an extremely competent dentist she is a warm and caring person. I cant recall a similar relationship with any other health care professional. She is truly like part of our family .

Staff was very friendly but ultimately I was somewhat pressured into getting a cleaning the day of my consult, saying they had no other opening for months. I was assured my insurance would reimburse me for a cleaning (one that cost over $300) and this was not actually the case.I called countless times over the course of several months (and was rarely called back when I was told I would be) trying to work with them to get the cleaning covered. I was also told they may issue me a partial refund due to their mistake but I never saw that money either.I would NEVER have gotten my cleaning there had I not been mislead by their staff. I will be getting my free annual cleanings elsewhere from now on. Such a waste of money.

So thrilled to have found Dr Willoughby & staff. Simply by chance due to cancellation I was able to get in only to find (unbeknownst to me) an abscessed tooth! I didnt have time to freak out as arrangements for the root canal were made ASAP. Im so grateful, & look forward to my future dental care with the Willoughby team.

Its always comfortable and stress free when I visit Dr. Willoughbys office compared with other dentists in Buncombe County that I have tried. My hygenist is very thoughtful and caring when cleaning my teeth, and explains what she is doing and constantly asking if I am OK. Dr. Willoughby follows up with each patient after their procedure, before you leave the chair, to ensure quality work and also explain any prospective dental problems and solutions that may be upcoming. On May 8th, three days before a week long business trip I had to have a tooth pulled and a crown placed on a next door molar. Needless to say, I came into the office a bit apprehensive. The procedure involved everyone in the office including both Dr. Willoughby and Dr.Bare, so I got to experience everyone first hand. Everything went marvelously with no discomfort. All the work was done very skillfully and gently and I left totally relaxed. My various trips went smoothly with no dental issues whatsoever. I cant thank the whole team enough!

I went for my first visit recently. I was greeted in a very friendly manner. My examination for dentures was very thorough and efficient. Dr. Bare and the staff are first rate in my book.

I really cant say enough good things about this place ! Everyone there is so kind and helpful. They are very good about answering all of your questions and even questions you didnt know you had. After my first appojtappoi, I even received a very nice cars, which everyone had signed. I certainly do not feel like just a number at Dr Willoughbys office. In fact, only the second time being seen, I was greeted by name. I travel a little over an hour to the office and it is absolutely worth it. I absolutely recommend them.

I took my mom in for a visit today. It was her first time at this office. Our initial impression was not the best. Had it not been for actually spending time with Dr. Willoughby we would have made up our minds that we would not be coming back. Upon spending time with Dr. Willoughby, however, She was quite warm, compassionate, attentive, and so we felt more at ease knowing mom would be under her care. Mom was supposed to be prescribed antibiotics because of the pain she was experiencing due to an infection. During checkout I was asked for the Pharmacy location and that I would be getting a call when the prescription was sent in. Our appointment started at 10 AM and I believe we left sometime around 1130-ish a.m. By nearly 3:00 PM I had not received a call so I called the doctors office and was told that it had not been called in yet but that it would be done before the end of business day and that I would receive a call. At about 10 till five I had not received a call so I called back, and was told that the prescription had been called in 15 minutes prior to me calling in and that I should wait about 30 minutes or so before the prescription would be ready for pick up. At 20 minutes after 5 PM, I called my mom‘s pharmacy and was told that there was no record of a prescription being called in gor her. The lady at the pharmacy went as far as checking all the various locations and confirmed that there was no prescription on file for my mother. So as you can see, our first impression and experience at this office and the various staff members have not gone well. I moved over a large amount of funds today based on the estimated cost for the treatment plan that was created for my mom. Based on this initial day and the lack of concern and care by office staff, awkward comments and overall reception due to mom and I being different and speaking a different language has left us deeply disappointed given the high ratings we gound on this firm and the large sum of money we were going to be paying for the procedures. It is a little after 6 PM, not long after finding out that the prescription had not in fact been called in, and I received a text message asking me to “provide feedback” and so here it is. Overall, this is been a very disappointing experience for my mother and for myself.

She asked me if I had been in an accident. She told me I had big teeth. Convinced me to pull out extra teeth and would not give me antibiotics for the infection it caused for 2 weeks. overpriced. Rude.

Ill start by saying that I havent had a cavity for over 40 years and always get compliments about how healthy my teeth/mouth are. My experience as a new patient at the Willoughby dental practice was traumatic.I made it clear from my initial phone call that Id want minimal X-Rays. Since it had been a while since Id had X-Rays, I agreed to the panorama and bite wings. They wanted to take 2 bite wings/side and I said Id agree to one. The hygienist said it was their policy to do 2/side and it was required if I wanted to stay. She asked, Are you questioning my professional abilities? and went to get the dentist. Dr. Willoughby gave a huge push for XRays, saying shed be liable if she didnt take them and that whether I got 2 or 4, the cost would be the same. I eventually gave in. They werent especially skilled at getting equipment into a small mouth. Then they spread my mouth out with metal hooks to take photos.Then the dentist did a periodontal exam, poking at my gums to measure depth and recording how many bled. She was very blunt and almost accusatory about having periodontal disease. I floss every night and my gums never bleed. She did use pictures to try to describe what might happen, but her explanations in general used terms I didnt know.I had in issue with two teeth after having chewed on an unpopped popcorn kernal and, although I pointed to the teeth that hurt, the dentist decided it was probably the neighboring tooth and that perhaps a crown could stop the pain. No one has EVER suggested I needed a crown.She handed me a dental plan that included thousands of dollars of work, including several return visits just to get my teeth cleaned. There is too much to type here. There is NO WAY I will return. This was the dental equivalent of going to a car dealership - all about making sales. Ive NEVER experienced anything like it (except once when I went to a Chiropractor, but I managed to get what I needed there without agreeing to any year-long treatments!)The crazy thing is that later that night, I was sharing about my traumatic visit to the dentist with a random friend. My friend said shed had a similar traumatic experience and that shed had 2 teeth pulled and later questioned if that had been necessary. We started comparing notes and it turned out SHE TOO had gone to Dr. Willoughbys.Update: When I went to another dentist after this experience, I was again complimented on my great hygiene and told I did NOT have periodontal disease!

Dr. Bare has been my dentist for 15 yrs and has always been a professional, knowledgeable & friendly dental care provider. I was referred to her by another dentist - mine while in grad school in Chapel Hill, who happened to be her sister. Im very glad I followed her advice.

I hoped to find a dentist in Asheville because driving to Raleigh to my amazing dentist seemed a bit economically/environmentally irresponsible. I chose Dr. Willoughby solely on location and friendliness of the staff, but her examination revealed I had multiple cavities in just about every tooth. After providing me a treatment plan that consisted of 2 pages and $2,500 of procedures, I was pressured to schedule the work immediately. For fear that my teeth were about to fall out, I agreed to come in for a cleaning, but after having a chance to think on it, I cancelled that appointment and decided to drive all the way to Raleigh to my regular dentist for a second opinion. After the hygienist there assured me I did not have severe gingivitis (as I was told) or any cavities that she could see, my dentist found one tiny problem tooth that might be worth keeping a watch on. I strongly do not recommend this dentist, as you will be pressured to get all of your teeth filled when you might not need it.

I have had extensive dental work with Dr. Willoughby and have always received exemplary care. Both pracitally and supporatively. The Dr. and her staff are great!!

Dr Teresa Bare, partner of Dr Willoughby, took the time out of her very busy schedule to come all the way to Carepartners, where my father was rehabilitating from a broken back, to get an impression for a replacement denture! Way too expensive..sat in the chair for an hour while they did nothing but give me a bill..they wanted me to to come back for $5000 to fill 2 cavities.. gentrified Dx.. Im sure they do good work but way too over priced.

Every experience is as good as the previous visit - and that makes it better because of the consistency. Personal, caring, authentic, friendly, warm, thorough, knowledgable, experts in field, humble....... The list goes on....... and thats from a 66 year old thats been to a lot of dentists ..... including 3 other dentist in Asheville area. My last visit in May 2019 was once again a great experience finding myself realizing that, unlike the stereotype of going to the dentist, I like going to Wendys office. I am grateful for her thoroughness, attention to detail and ability to identify issues early.
