Super cool about their haircuts and shaves in maintaining their schedule and getting people in and out in a timely fashion. Ask Tim for an Old Fashioned, guy definitely knows what hes doing and Eddie has a knack for knowing what people need to try behind the bar! Highly recommend!

Really enjoyed the experience, truly felt like a good experience. Haircuts are always relaxing when you know they’re going to do it right, and enjoyed the barbers working with you to help achieve the look you’re going for with recommendations and tips. Plus, a good made cocktail afterwards doesn’t hurt. Best haircut experience I’ve had.

First time going here and I got an appointment with Sarah, the stylist on staff. Im growing my hair out from a traditional short, male haircut with the intention of getting it shoulder length. Sarah was super helpful giving me tips on how to handle my wavy/curly hair. She didnt do anything too dramatic because I was just getting it cleaned up so it can grow longer. She did a great job cleaning up the back and sides, getting rid of dead ends and making sure I didnt have a mullet growing in. Definitely will go back to her next time I need a trim

I recently had an appointment to have what I believed would be a beard trim and a head shave. I have been shaving my own head every few days for almost 17 years and now that I am out of the military I have started growing out a beard. My beard has gotten long enough that I decided that I would go to one of those places that can shave my head and trim my beard all in one visit and maybe give me some tips on caring for it. I didn’t shave my head for a week, maybe even 10 days, in advance of the visit which is the longest I have went without shaving it. I do not like the unshaven look but I put up with it because I had scheduled a professional shave. I was disappointed to find out when I got there that they had me down for a buzz cut and not a head shave. A buzz cut cannot really be done for me. The person helping me couldn’t do a head shave so I ended up having a beard trim only. She did a nice job but, as I said earlier, I would not have gone in for a beard trim or head shave separately but would have liked them both done at once. On the spot, they handled it almost perfectly. I really appreciated their attempt to make it right. I went ahead with the beard trim and they got me on the schedule a few days later for a head shave. Ultimately I cancelled the appointment and decided to go ahead and shave it myself because I didn’t want to wait any longer. Since I hate people that just complain to complain, I will say where I think the problem occurred. When we went to schedule the appointment online, the packages and different service were confusing. Especially confusing for someone who has not been to a salon or barber for himself in over 15 years. Since it was unclear if there was a package that included a head shave and a beard trim and how we needed to go about scheduling what we wanted, we called in to ask questions and schedule it over the phone. So despite our greatest effort it somehow got marked down as a buzz cut and beard trim. There was one wrinkle that could have been the cause of the mistake as well. I initially had an appointment for a Thursday and had to reschedule. If there was something in the notes regarding my service, I guess it could have gotten lost when the appointment was rescheduled. Either way, they handled it well, but I chose to pass on the follow up appointment for the head shave. All in all, something was lost when the appointment was scheduled, they did their best to fix it, I chose to not take them up on it. It would be nice to have some sort of confirmation email when an appointment is scheduled that lists out what is being done. I could have corrected the issue sooner if I had known.Clarification: I did get a text message reminder for the appointment but I definitely didn’t get an email. In fact, I am 99-100% sure I didn’t provide an email when I made the appointment.

This was my second hair cut here and I have found my new go-to since moving from out of town. Mikey does a great job with a fade and possesses that nice balance of quality conversation while not taking too long on the haircut. Tough to beat a clean cut and cocktail to follow as well.

Service was fantastic from both the bartender and the hair specialist. I love the experience each and every time. The only thing I would improve would be the selection of available bourbons. It would be nice to see some more variety but the ones they have are excellent.

I have gone to Scissors & Scotch twice now to get my haircut and left impressed both times! Great service, laid-back atmosphere, great experience at both the bar side and the salon side! This is the only place I will get my haircut.

I had gotten a $60 package, which was fairly decent, but the fact that a beard trim (which had to be done by a different stylist and took less than 5 minutes) was about $16 additional really irked me. Drink was pretty good, but the bartender didn’t know what a long island iced tea was at first which was disconcerting, a bit. Neither the stylist nor the bartender seemed interested in conversation, which was disappointing. That being said, where the things needed to be good, they were great. Hair turned out great, moisturizing and towel treatment was amazingly relaxing, and the drink was tasty and refreshing.All in all- experience was good, though overpriced in regards to some bits, and would have liked to be able to talk to the staff a bit more.

Amazing experience. Love the concept. Unfortunately I have to get my haircut about every two to three weeks and its a little pricey for me. I will however continue to use there services every once in awhile. Staff was very professional and courteous. I would highly recommend everyone to at least try it out.

Mikey was great, I have sensitive skin on my neck and was wanting to try a professional shave to see how it would react so I could potentially get a another shave for my wedding thats coming up. He listened and did some tricks and my skin has reacted very well! I plan on being back for one the morning of the wedding! Also my haircut looks great, my fiancé loves it!

Alyssa did such a great job cutting my hair and helping me get exactly what I wanted. She was very nice to talk to and was very helpful with any questions I had. She even helped me get some product. The front of house receptionist was also very nice and informative upon walking in and getting checked in. She filled me in on what to expect and what they had to offer for drinks and made some great recommendations. My pops and I were also chatting with Malik at the bar who was very friendly. My father had gotten his haircut here and he recommended I try it and was very impressed. Malik was great talking to my dad while I was getting cut and when I was finished helped with getting us a very nice whiskey. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable and made my visit an overall great experience. I look forward to coming back.

I checked in for my appointment 15 minutes early. The greeter was friendly and as it was my first experience at Scissors & Scotch he explained the lay of the land and services offered. I was then sat down at the bar and given a complementary drink. As far as the haircut goes, it was great! Yuliana has very gentle hands and gave me an outstanding skin fade. 9/10 would recommend to a friend.

As my first experience, the staff was more than willing to explain how everything works and everything they were doing. I decided to sign up for the 15-year service every 6 weeks.Keeps my hair well maintained and is something I will look forward to greatly. The bar after the service is top notch with great liquor and craft beer to choose from.

I have been on the road doing a 48 state tour on my motorcycle.Visited my brother in Iowa and he recommended me this place.Malik has been awesome with his services at the bar. Ok, so I absolutely had to review my experience here. This place is absolutely amazing. I had the 25 year service, and being it was my first time was discounted.The 1 1/2 hours I was here was incredible. The service was amazing, the drinks were on point. The environment had a great vibe to it.My haircut turned out great and all the extras that come with the service left me feeling refreshed and the time just flew by.I will definitely be returning while I stay here in the area over the next few months. I was honestly not prepared for the amazing overall experience that came with an hour of time spent at Scissors & Scotch. I was greeted warmly by the bar tender who immediately made me a delicious Old Fashioned. A short time later Courtney came to get me to start my hair cut. I got the 15 year. Courtney asked me how I wanted my hair, we looked at a couple of pictures for inspiration and to say she knocked it out of the park is an understatement! Perfect cut and I love my hair. Then came the warm towel and facial. Courtney has magic fingers! Gentle yet effective and very relaxing. I will absolutely be going back and seeing Courtney and the team at Scissors & Scotch. OH! It is worth mentioning, I didnt finish my Old Fashioned before the hair cut, the bartender kept it in the cold fridge for me to finish after! And she remembered my name, not sure why thats a big deal but it just was. Overall a def 5 star experience and worth every penny. Thank you for showing me what self care is really supposed to be!

My second visit to Scissors & Scotch in Ankeny, IA was just like the first one ... perfect. I was greeted courteously in the bar area when I arrived. My stylist Hannah was super... very professional, yet very friendly at the same time. She gave me another great edgy cut.

Pretty dull experience for a 40$ cut. The younger gal who cut my hair didnt even try to have a conversation with me. Was not impressed. Sports clips provided a better service for half the price and you can at least watch sports if theres nothing to talk about.

Best haircut I have ever had. Yes it is expensive, but you get what you pay for. I got the 15-year haircut and I would do it again. My stylist was 30 minutes late to start cutting my hair but I was given a chance to move my appointment back to fit their schedule. I was with other people and it seemed unprofessional to ask me to move back my appointment to accommodate themselves over their customer (me). I am sure this was a one time thing, however that will cause me to rate it 4/5 stars.

Ive been into my local Scissors & Scotch a couple of times now and have had a great experience each time. Ive had a different staff member each time, and each cut Ive had has been high quality. Everyone is friendly and I like the environment. The free drink is a nice perk too!

Great experience for my first time. The bar is a nice feature. Comfortable chairs, good quality haircuts. My barber asked a lot of questions to ensure he understood what I was asking for. I’ve been to places where they just start cutting without knowing really what you’re asking for.

Went in for a haircut, beard trim and eyebrow wax (wife requested of course) and it was nothing but a great experience. Very friendly, easy to talk to and understood what I wanted without having to go into extreme amounts of detail. Before making any drastic moves I was asked if that is exactly what I wanted. I need to look into what becoming a member entails, but I highly recommend Scissors & Scotch.
