I was in a bind needing some last minute items to make a few cakes. The Specialty Shop came in clutch and had everything I needed and more! I highly recommend them for all of your baking needs! I will definitely be back in the future.

This place is certainly not what it used to be. I went in with a list of supplies needed for a wedding cake and cupcakes I was making. I came out with boxes and shortening, not much else. Thank God for Amazon.

Very disappointed! My daughters and I went in to purchase items for my home bakery on 6/2. The lady behind the counter kept her head down the entire time, didnt acknowledge us at all. We were there a total of about 10 minutes and she never looked up at us, as if we were completely invisible. She treated the 1 other customer there before us very friendly. We just walked out, we obviously were not welcomed there. Will never shop there again. I went to Wal-Mart and found everything for a fraction of the price.

Awesome place with everything a baker could need! Thousands of sprinkles and cake decorations, edible decorations in anything you could ask for. Don’t forget the ever popular hot chocolate bomb molds with some of the best chocolate you can buy. Did I mention there are over 50 Christmas cookie cutters alone?! The man working the counter was sweet and very helpful, and we got everything we were looking for.

The only place in New Mexico,( that I could find) with a huge variety of cookie cutters, am everything from sprinkles/emulsions to delivery boxes , chocolate and confection molds ! Absolutely love it. I choose to Shop & Support at this local female run business . Also , anytime I have a question, they have an answer for me & if they don’t have an answer, they will research and help me trouble shoot !

I really try to support small businesses during this pandemic. I went in this week for some supplies for a cupcake cake I was making. I needed a cake box and you have to ask for a lid. I grabbed what I needed and went to the register and asked for a lid. I paid for my items and left. Well when I went to use the cake box the lid was entirely too big for the bottom. Well because of receiving the wrong lid my cupcake cake was messed up upon delivery because I had to make due with the wrong sizes. I will most likely not shop at your business anymore due to receiving the wrong product, but also because none of the employees were wearing a mask. Regardless of your stance on masking wearing, you should want to protect your customers. Looks like I will be using Amazon for all of my baking supply needs from now on.

I have shopped at the Specialty shop since the 80’s through 4 owners. I also believe in supporting local businesses but yesterday was my last time to shop there. It’s six weeks past a very contentious election that has divided our nation I feel a business that allows an employee to wear a mask with a political bias is hampering national healing. It is not appropriate to use a business to express an individual political views

I wanted to say how grateful I am. Way too recently Albuquerque almost lost our beloved Specialty Shop. People need to know the old owners gave up on trying to sell it and liquidated the inventory. I was incredibly impressed how quickly you rebuilt the inventory. Acquiring a stocked business is hard. Outstanding service, inventory, vibe, and the four legged employee told me what a great guy the cashier is ❤ Thank you for saving a local treasure and making it great.

They have a very friendly staff, and they have great customer service. I have shopped here for over 20 years.I understand they are under new management, and I like to shop and help out small businesses . Unfortunately, lately there have been several times I have been in and they are out of supplies. Also, they are now closed on Mondays which is a business day for most businesses and it can be an inconvenience to companies searching for supplies.I understand starting under new management can be difficult. I have always loved to shop here, and I will continue to do so, I just wanted to express the importance of keeping the convenience for your customers .

The selection in this store is tragic. Lots of plastic rings and do-dads but not much else. They said theyre reorganizing since purchasing from previous owners but Ive been coming here for about 6 months and it just keeps getting worse. And today was the last time I will ever go in that store. The owner was not wearing a mask and had Covid misinformation posted in the store. Also, everything looks vagely dusty and sad.

Extremely disappointed in the selection available at this store. Ive gone in numerous times since the change in ownership and ALWAYS leave frustrated and empty-handed. I miss what The Specialty Shop used to be....Always fully stocked, huge selection to include items not found in other stores, and reasonable prices. I truly hope management is able to pull it together and maybe spend more time on ordering products than on the giant display sign they have located in the back of the store! I will say that the lady that assisted me today tried to be helpful and was nice, however that unfortunately has not been my experience previous times.

New owners. Took a cookie decorating class, spent almost $50 and came home with 6 cookies. Severely overpriced to watch someone sloppily make a cookie recipe and measure out everything as we went along. Not organized at all.Edit after owner response:Your butter wasn’t room temperature. You used imitation vanilla! You didn’t even measure some things out. We had to share our icing back and forth. Very unorganized and poorly done. Don’t worry we won’t be back and you’ll be in the same position as the previous owners, looking to sell a failing shop. Look at your window displays!

Wow I got to the specialty shop 10 before 4pm and they already had there doors close . How do you support Local businesses when they close to early and the workers just looked at me.

This place use to be nice. No longer! New owners need to get it together! What a dump! Nice employees though!

Very dissappointed. I had an edible image printed here that I had to give 24 hrs notice for. When I went to pick it up it looked awful (very dark, blurry, blue tint, could not see picture). I was told after the fact that there was a disclaimer about this but there was no mention of it when I ordered it. I went to abc to have it printed again and it was done right there for me while I waited with vibrant colors and came out perfect. I went back to the specialty shop to get a refund and was waved off and told “all sales final, especially edible images.” Waste of money, cannot use it. Will not shop here again.

I always find exactly what I need for creating beautiful cakes for special occasions. The staff are always SO knowledgeable, helpful &, most importantly, friendly!!! Ive shopped there for over 20 years & Ive always been extremely happy with their service!!!

Owner is fantastic! Staff memeber was unfriendly and not helpful at all. Felt like I was a burden to the staff even being in the store. But the store is beautiful and so well organized. Love everything in there and absolutely love the owner and everything she does!

The specialty shop is a toy store for cake makers. I love going in and picking and choosing thru all the items in the store. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about their products and has answers for all of the how to questions.

This place is so awesome I went in the new owner Amanda jones was so sweet & helpfull this place has such a great selection for different occasions.& the chocolate is amazing.The staff are all so sweet and helpful also 😉 I will definitely be back & recommending this shop.

This store has some of the professional items you cant find at a big box like Hobby Lobby or Michaels, but it does need a modern make-over. Its kind of a time-warp walking into the place. It feels like a funeral home from the 1970s; so dark and dank.

New management is the worst, they never have anything I need and when I ask if they will be getting a particular item in , I was told there was not a need. I told them I needed it. Was told that wasn’t enough. Too bad this place has gone way down hill.

Drove down from Rio Rancho to with friends to go specifically to The Specialty Shop, only to find it closed. I checked once again on Google to make sure I had the right hours. Google showed that The Specialty Shop was open and did not close until 5:30. It is barely four pm now.🤔BOO😏
