Ive been getting my hair done by Micaela for years. She not only does my hair but all 3 of my kids, my son and 2 daughters. She has never disappointed us. Every time, our hair looks amazing and healthy. She does exactly what is asked of her. She shares any concerns she may come across. She gives her knowledge of hair texture and how hair changes when its dry. She is simply the best!

Took my six year old took get her hair cut with Michaela. My daughter had beautiful curls and it was long. We wanted it cut just below the shoulders. Instead she got a cut way above the shoulders (almost chin level) and she cut off all her curls. Seems to have shocked her hair and it doesn’t look like the curls are coming back. 😢😢😢😢. Was not happy with stylist at all. I’ve cried for a week over it. I would think a professional would know that curly hair shrinks...On the other hand, Stephanie Coats was amazing with my four year old. Maybe a little too abrupt and impatient with the head moving (because many small children can’t sit still) but we at least got the exact haircut we asked for.*****Update to this review: was contacted by the owner with an apology about my daughter’s hair. She offered to fix it with a treatment. Thought this was very kind of the owner. This contact was on Easter Sunday so I didn’t respond until the proceeding Friday. Didn’t get a response back for over a week to set up an appointment for the treatment (a text where I gave her times that would work for us). I contacted her to ask if she had received my text. She responded finally and asked if a time not in my window would work. I then responded again with times that would work for us. Still no response a week after that. We will pay to get it fixed elsewhere and not recommend this establishment to anyone who expects professionalism from their stylists and salon owners.

Stephanie did such an AMAZING job on my hair!! I’m still trying to figure out the whole curly thing and she answered so many questions and I think I’m actually starting to figure it out! I have a more loose wavy curl pattern and I’m always worried people won’t understand and cut it weird but she totally understood my curl pattern and cut it to encourage the curls to form. I think this is the best haircut I’ve ever gotten, thank you so much Stephanie!!!! ❤️

I have been using Micaela and Jackie for the last couple years and they do a phenomenal job! My hair was stripped of red and is regularly toned and styled perfectly. The only people I trust to cut my curls without giving me a mullet I highly recommend them

I came in to have all over highlights, my roots dyed and a hair cut with Sherie. She had did my hair prior, and it turned out great! Thinking that she had made notes of the previous colors she had used, I trusted it would be the same. Far from it ... $289 later, plus tip - a month out am so upset/disappointed. My hair is a terrible color (she said they “were out of the dye” she used before. Guessed on the root color, which is brown orange. Also, I pretty much have straight hair. Needed 4” cut off. I cannot believe now that there are so many different lengths in my hair! One side is at least 1-14” longer. Usually, hairdressers make sure each side is the same. Not now. Very, very sad.

She is the Platinum queen! 🤩Not only is Her customer service amazing, but she is really talented at what she does and walks you through every step of what has to be done in order to achieve what you want. I have never left a salon so happy before :) will be my new go to. So glad to find one in the valley too!!P.S. I love how they really get into your hair history so they have a better idea of the treatment you’ll need! It seems like most other stylists just try and wing it and hope for the best

I’ve had wax services from Alexa and hair services from Bailey and it was AMAZING!! Alexa did a great job of making me feel comfortable and the whole salon is CLEAN. Bailey did an amazing job at explaining the hair process to me and making sure I was okay with every step before actually doing it. Will definitely be going back again!! 10/10!!

I love the Hair and Color Bar!!! I have a LOT of stubborn grays and black box die...Bailey was able to give me the look I wanted (no easy feat seeing as how I wanted a little darker than ash blonde highlights and all over dark brown) and bring my hair back to life. I have seen her a couple of times and even took my daughter to her. Very clean and always friendly. Congratulations to the new owner!!! The salons new look is fabulous!!

I arrived early and they got me right in. This is the first time Ive had my hair cut short in over 25 years. The stylist (Briana) was knowledgeable and helpful with selecting my new style. The salon is clean with a pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommend them to anyone.

Natalie has been doing my hair for almost two years and I am so happy with my hair! I love the way she does the color for my hair, and also the cuts. I really had the best experience at The Hair and Color Bar with Regina. She was so friendly and made sure I understood the platinum process. She was very knowledgeable and very cautious with my hair and comfort throughout the process. The end result is gorgeous and completely exceeded my expectations for how blonde my hair could be. Super cute place! Clean and very friendly staff. I have loved in Alaska for 6 years and since Ive been here Ive gotten my hair cut once and that was when I visited family back home. After dealing with my long hair for far to long I decided to find a place. Im always nervous about finding a place to get my hair cut but if I find a place and person I like I stick with them. I will definitely keep coming back. They also do complementary neck and shoulder massages.

She took her time and listened and then offered suggestions that resulted in a fantastic look for my daughter.Its difficult to find a good stylist who makes you feel comfortable and confident. Natalie did both. I think we will make Natalie our go-to hair stylist from now on. And we will certainly recommend The Hair and Color Bar to our friends.

Katelynn did an AMAZING job on my hair. I’m obsessed with how it turned out. This salon is very clean and the people there are so nice, friendly and try to help however they can. I was there for awhile (4-5 hours) and the time flew because everyone was having a great time, great conversations, everyone helping each other. She talked me through what she was doing, every step of the way. I wasn’t expecting that, but it was really nice to feel included on the process of what was going on with my hair. She let me know when we were adding some more color because more color obviously means it’s gonna cost a little more and I really appreciated the fact that she told me, she didn’t have to but she did, she wasn’t trying to be sneaky or anything about it. Would definitely recommend to ANYONE wanting a great salon experience. Would rate 10/10 but I could only give 5 stars!

I have 3 daughters & myself that all go here, and all 4 have totally different styles, that are all amazing. You cant go wrong, each stylist is great, and really listen and pay attention to detail. I wont go anywhere else.

Bailey was amazing. She did a fantastic job with my hair cut, and my hair cut is not exactly simple. She was friendly and kept up a great conversation.

I came in for a half up-do for my big day, brought my own extensions, just wanted my hair curled and halfway up. You could literally see the clips through my hair, the curls didn’t hold for more than 30 minutes.... I had to pay my photographer to edit my HAIR!!! Do not go here for them to mess up your big day like I did, just go somewhere else or do it yourself!!!!

Kylie did an amazing job with my hair. Got my waist length hair cut into a sharp Bob, and I am in love. Its super soft and exactly what I imagined. She didnt even try to sell me products after product. She was very personable, and was able to make my hair look amazing without product.

My daughters have had haircuts with Vanessa and Athena and both went great. The salon is comfortable, the staff is friendly and the haircuts were well done. We’ll definitely be back soon.

This is a wonderful salon! I drive from Anchorage monthly for my appointments with Donna and have been doing so for nearly 14 years. Thats how amazing she is. The other hair stylists are also experienced, talented, creative, and friendly. The salon is lovely and the Aveda products are the best.

Went for something different this time, a lob with a undercut design. Bailey did a great job! Using the pictures I showed her, she kept the idea but altered it to fit my lifestyle (essentially, I never style my hair). Im super happy with my hair and working with Bailey was very easy.

This is my go-to place now! Staff is so friendly and listens to exactly what you want. They even give you neck and hand massages during your visit. I’ve been more than satisfied on all 3 of my visits there.

Wonderful Experience! I made a last minute appointment, and was promptly greeted and offered water, hot tea, or coffee. My stylist was Kylie. She looked at a picture of what i was thinking and worked her magic!I was very happy to have a wash, cut, style all for $35! Such a relaxing experience as they are an Aveda Salon and included essential oils, i will definitely be going back.

Ive been looking for someone who is comfortable cutting thick curly hair for a long time. Ema was terrific. Being a curly girl herself she understands the horrible pouf and the triangle head that happens with bad chopping jobs. She gets it and does a great job making sure you walk out of the salon beautiful!

Ema is the best. She knows how to make you feel comfortable and is a true artist. I trust her completely with my hair and beard, I tell her she is the artist and I am her canvas. She does great every time. I hope her fiancé knows how lucky he is.

Kylie is always great with my hair! She listens when I tell her how it behaves and works with it. I bring her pictures of what I want and she always does her best to get as close as possible to what I want. We all know everyones hair is different so it will never be exact. I am always happy with my results! My hair is always shiny and soft when I leave!

I came here after getting my hair done at a different Salon just days previous and I hated how it had turned out, and was lookimg frantically for someone to fix me before I moved home to Hawaii. I came here and Destiny fit me in to her already tight schedule 🙌🏽 I have super long, thick and curly hair, it’s a handful even for me to take care of but Destiny did such a beautiful job managing my hair. This is a beautiful salon! The atmosphere is peaceful and orderly and the stylists really listen to what you want to do. I went to my appointment with pictures and Katelynn looked at the pictures, played with my hair and then told me her professional opinion. She double and triple checked every step of the cut and color. I walked out with exactly what I wanted and had great conversation while I was in the chair!

Im a really picky person when it comes to my hair, but Ive been going to The Hair & Color Bar and have not been disappointed once. Everyone is so nice & welcoming! Its a great environment & I love going there! :)

I got a Brazilian, & just now noticed that the whole bottom part was missed. Like several long hairs on bottom & side. I’m very upset about this, because I have never in 10years had a wax done soo poorly. How do you not see that you skipped several parts?? Also, the wax was a lot more than I usually pay, so with tip, I paid almost $100 for a wax that was halfway done! Pure laziness!! You saw that you missed several hairs, but didn’t say anything!! Just doesn’t make sense. And being that I live over an hour & 1/2away, I will be not by to get it fixed. I will be writing a review on Yelp as well, since I am pretty sure this won’t stay posted!

Wonderful group of stylists and apprentices. I would trust all of them with my hair. A big plus for me is the Aveda products they carry! Hair care, makeup, skin care and body care! The products are 98% plant derived and smell and feel great with fantastic results!
