This is a local shop worthy of our community’s support. I’ve used Jewell Equipment Rental for over two years and have always had positive experiences. The store owner and his employees are knowledgeable, friendly, honest and professional. They are my local go to source for all of my equipment repairs, purchases, rentals, blades and more. They do great work at fair prices. I enjoy going into their shop and picking the owners brain about various equipment and tools. I’ve also learned to listen to the advice he gives. He knows what he’s talking about. And for what it’s worth, I’ve read the comments from the other local yokels and disagree entirely with them. Don’t listen to them. They’ve got “issues”…

I dont usually write negative posts, but I feel the need to warn people about dishonest and shady companies that nickel and dime you for every little thing. Ive rented from just about everyone here in the valley and have never been so blindsided before. They charged me for Air Filters for a rented skid steer! The charged me for a cleaning fee for a machine that moves dirt. I used a machine in the dirt to move dirt and it got dirt on it. If you want to keep customers be up front and let them know in person about any fees that my be present. Let them know what to expect. Dont blindside people with hidden fees and then say that you should read the contract. Unless you dont want our business.

Did some shopping around and decided to give Jewell a try. The owner seems like he really knows his products and if you have a question and he does not have the answer he will find it. I was a little nervous at first to have them touch my truck, but they had the plow in stock I wanted. Took a little longer to have done than previous plow installs due to extra wiring, which made me more nervous. I was afraid they were going to gouge me with additional labor charges from what I was originally quoted. In the end they kept their word and did not charge the additional hours. The install itself looks good, i wish the wire tires were cut cleaner and the cables tucked a little nicer but overall I feel like Charlie did a better job than a previous company I had a plow installed at. Also they promised to defer submitting my warranty work to ensure I maximized my warranty. Thats good business to me. As of right now they have done me right and I would continue doing business with them. If that changes I will change my review.

We purchased a Husqvarna chain saw last fall from Jewell Equipment Rental. Recently I tried to start it and it wouldnt start - It had no spark. This is my 3rd Husqvarna chain saw and I know how to run one. I did all of the normal checks - fuel looked good, put in a new spark plug etc. I took it in and they told me it was still under warranty and they would check it out. I received no phone call about it. I finally called them and they said Oh yeah, its done. It started right up. Looks like the oil/gas ration was lean. The oil gas ratio was exactly what was recommended. They then charged me $60 for checking it out. I was so mad! They said they had to change the gas and do a maintenance check. The cost $60! If it started right up why didnt they call and tell me, and then get my permission to change the fuel, and do a maintenance check on it. I really want to support local small businesses, and that is why I went there in the first place. Unfortunately , they have lost a potential future loyal customer.

I used to work at Jewell Equipment recently and we always top off the fuel when equipment is returned and if you fill it up we couldnt possibly put more in and charge anyone. They want customers to return and keep very detailed records and pictures in order charges the proper price for use

Nice shop I bought a used plow they were very accommodating helping get the parts to mount on new truck, when all looked like a bunch of wires in the box out of my since of I did not want to do it they installed all electrical components and got us plowing in short order!!

Zero Star Ripoff Warning!!! These people are extremely dishonest! They claim I returned their equipment low on fuel, which was topped off before pickup by Crowley. Claim I went over the rental equipment hours, I have pictures showing before and after hours. If you rent from them get ready for unjustified charges after you return it.

Terrible experience. Bought a pressure washer with a one year warranty. A few months later, I brought it back because it was having problems and was told they shouldnt have said it had a warranty, because they dont do warranties. They claimed they would honor it anyway and said they would fix it free of charge. After inspecting it, they claimed nothing was wrong but insisted on charging me a $50 diagnostic fee, which was clearly not communicated to me or agreed upon. They had made it clear they were going to look at it and fix it for free. Extremely incompetent and dishonest. Stay away!

Let me say that I am a loyal customer to any business that treats me honestly and fairly. About two weeks ago I was plowing my fisher Ez V plow and it suddenly lost hydrolic pressure. I first thought it might be low fluid so I checked but it was full. I bought this plow used and knew it needed a flush and filter change (which I thought quality equipment of anchorage did when I had them install it last year, but come to find out they didnt). I pulled the resivior off and saw the pickup tube was covered in milky grime. I made an appointment with jewell and brought it to them, fully explaining how the plow was acting to the owner. I told him I bought the plow used and it sat for years prior to that. I explained that I checked with quality and learned they never flushed through fluid. I told him I believed the problem was bad fluid and filter! He said theyd take a look at it but he started telling me Ez v plows are known to have electrical problems. When the plow was ready I picked it up and asked if they pulled the resivior off and changed the filter and he said no. The receipt showed they increased the hydrolic pressure (only required turning a flat head screw), moved a ground wire, and tightened a solenoid wire. Those three things cost me $250, all of which was labor. The plow worked when I picked it up. 10 days later it snowed and I started using the plow for the first time since I picked it up and 10 minutes into plowing, the plow stopped working with the same problem. I called and left a voice message on their business phone and asked them to call me back. The following Monday I waited all day until 10 minutes till they closed and called myself since no one returned my call. I spoke with the owner again and he said I probably needed a new wiring harness or pump. I told him I really felt it needed a flush and filter and he said that wouldnt make it down what it was doing. He told me to call at 10 am on that Wednesday to see if he could get me in because Id have my kids waiting with me in their showroom, not having anyone to pick us up. I called at 930 and they said yea we have you on the board at 10 I wasnt ready and was scurrying to make it there by 11 as it was. When I got there, I told the shop guy my long winded story and he wanted to either put on a new pump or wiring harness and I told him to flush and filter change first. About 45 minutes later he comes out holding the resivior and it was terrible. Im surprised the plow worked at all. He told me there was my problem and I responded with thats what I had told them all along. When I went to pay (I bought another hose and extra fluid) I expected the labor costs would be waived because my.plow was not fixed properly the first time. The labor was not waived and I told the lady at the front I didnt feel I should pay for labor due to it not being done right the first time (keep in mind that the plow died 10 days after the first bill and only worked for a few minutes). She had the owner (who is her husband) come out front and he said they fixed it right they first time and that this time was a different issue. He saw the resivior and looked at what I did and no sain person could have believed that the plow was fixed right the first time when there was sludge as bad as it was. He walked away from me and refused to waive any costs. I paid several times the amount amount I should have for what was a simple flush and filter problem. The shop guy event said he reset the pressure because I knew the first time all they did was increase the pressure to account for lack of fluid flow. This is not honest business and I would recommend that no one take your money to this crook.
