I moved to Vancouver recently and needed a vet that would be local to my new home. I have multiple pets and prefer to use a holistic approach to their care. I also recognize the benefit of traditional vet care especially when you have senior pets. I found this at East Padden Animal Hospital. My pets have received exceptional care from Dr Baron and Dr Anderson. Dr Baron has had the most interaction with my dogs and cat and she has always taken the time to discuss their care even when those calls have to take place late in the evening. Thank you for caring!

I utilized East Padden’s same-day urgent care appointments for my cat when his regular vet couldn’t fit him in. He needed some follow up after a visit to the emergency vet a few days prior. East Padden was amazing. My boy ended up having to be put down but the vet was so compassionate and informative about his condition and what it would mean for both him and I long term if we continued trying to treat it. They gave me as much time with my cat as I needed both before and after the euthanasia and were so empathetic and supportive. The vet tech was wonderful too. I will be switching my other cat to East Padden from his current vet because I am so impressed with them.

East Padden has been my vet since moving to Vancouver 5+ years ago. Although weve moved a few times we continue to go to East Padden because they are so wonderful. Everyone there is empathetic and professional. The facility is clean, the prices are reasonable and as a bonus they work with our insurance which saves us a lot of stress. Their COVID policy has been great and it has still been a breeze to take our cats there.

I had a wonderful experience with East Padden! I was able to get an urgent care appointment for my cat when my regular vet was unavailable. Dealing with/worrying about a sick pet is stressful enough, but everyone I spoke with from start to finish was very kind and helpful, which helped eased my worry. What I appreciated most is that everyone I spoke to was patient and took the time to thoroughly answer questions and explain things with genuine care and didnt try to hurry off the phone. Thank you East Padden for all you do for our furry family members!

My dog had an emergency, on a Saturday. I could not get him into my vets office, or any other vet. By the time we were done looking around, they were all closed. Then I called East Padden. They are open Sundays! They were able to work win my dog and take care of his leg. Their hours are 7:30 a.m. to 8: 00 p.m. There are 12 vets at this office. If you cannot get through on the phone, leave a message and they call you back. You can also e-mail them. They do their best to work you in, have all the medicines I need for my dog, and very thoughtful, caring and helpful. I now also have a puppy, and take her there. They suggested a puppy package for us, that included all her shots, first two visits, nail clipping, and some gifts. They are slightly more expensive than my last vet, but you can get through to them. Huge difference.

I had an emergency situation with my little 2 year old kitty. (He accidentally ingested some rubber from a mat he likes to chew.) East Padden was the only place that could take him and I’m so glad they did. Very professional/prompt and they were so nice! All the staff I was in contact with made me feel so at ease with my baby’s care. You can tell they really care about their patients and their owners. I’d 100% recommend!

They are very sweet here and seem to really care. My dog has a very hard time with going to the vet so he will need to most likely start being seen in different environments for the big , or more complicated visits if he doesnt improve with me being allowed to go inside with him now. But everyone here showed him so much patience and his boundaries and emotions were treated with care and respect. They were always quick with their ability to get him in and seen a few times.. when our original vet and everywhere else we tried were scheduled months out! The only thing I could say that isnt all positive is that they seem to be a bit on the expensive side, especially their medications. But with that being said, they are an ER as well as a regular vet office and they are able to see you quickly and are open late and stay late if there is still work to do that cannot wait. So the pricing isnt too bad when all of that is taken into consideration as well. I am satisfied with their care and competence for taking care of my boy.

We are new to the area and have been struggling to find a vet clinic. I was able to get set up with East Padden for my cats and puppy that was arriving in 2 days. Of course, on Friday night one of the cats starting having urinary issues. I got on the UC list with East Padden and was asked to arrive between 10-11. When I got their I found their intake process professional and well developed for the pandemic. After getting Alfie from the car they let me know exactly what to expect. A few hours later I got a call from Dr Baron and we went over the plan, they quoted me the price and got my permission to proceed. No surprises! When I got there the bill was much less than expected as they had not been able To get a urine sample because her bladder was empty. All in all it was a great experience. I was even able to get some meds for her for anxiety in case she didn’t react well to the new puppy arrival.I was initially frustrated that I wasn’t able to find a vet in Ridgefield, but after that visit I am happy to make the Drive to East Padden!

We recently adopted an elderly, VERY overweight dog and needed to find a vet located closer to our home. Our other dogs vet is out in Molalla and I knew I would need more regular check ins for the new boy and didnt want to drive 90 mins each way each month. Dr. Hawkins at East Padden Animal Hospital (EPAH) was recommended by our regular vet. While the pandemic has changed the way clinics are operating, EPAH has really made things a smooth and fluid process. They are linked to the pet desk app which is SUPER handy. I have my pets pics, rabies tag info, microchip info, ages, etc. all in one place. From the app I can schedule appointments and (most importantly) IT ACTUALLY WORKS - no lost appointments or anything like that. Staff is friendly, efficient, attentive, and compassionate. Dr. Hawkins is thorough, capable, personable, and a pleasure to work with. In fact, we just adopted a brand new puppy last night so I just scheduled another appointment for a brand new patient for them through the app and received confirmation within about 20 mins! Highly recommended!

Pets are ultimately a luxury - if something goes wrong, chances are youre paying a hefty amount to get it resolved. Pricing here falls into what I expected for my cats issue (vets have to make a living too), but what I did not expect was the responsiveness and courteousness of the staff, techs and doctor. My cat had all the testing, procedures and medications he needed to be accurately diagnosed and treated. East Padden claimed my cat needed surgery for a medical condition the cat did not have! When I took my cat in to be shaved, an East Padden vet said my cat has entropian and needed surgery. I was also told my cat had an eye infection and was given a prescription, which I never used. It was obvious to me the cat didn’t have entropian. I got a second opinion asap and was told my cat didn’t have entropian or an eye infection and was told not to provide the cat the eye infection medication. When the head vet of East Padden asked the vet who said my cat needed surgery about this, the vet who said my cat needed surgery said she wasn’t sure that the cat had this condition. However, the vet who said my cat needed surgery wrote in the medical record that my cat has “severe entropian.” Disturbing. When I needed a prescription refill for my cat’s prozac (which is NOT a controlled substance) I had to drive to the clinic to pick up a paper prescription because they refused to call in or fax the prescription to a pharmacy. If you buy prescriptions at the clinic they are significantly more expensive than at pharmacies. Now I go to a vet clinic that works with online pet pharmacies. Also, multiple times when I’ve gone to East Padden the bill has been significantly more than what I was quoted over the phone. They also won’t care for stray injured animals, unlike many vet clinics such as Columbia River Veterinary Specialists.I’ve also heard at dog parks things like they have high staff turnover, they are understaffed, and low level staff are asked to do vet tech tasks they aren’t qualified for.Take your pets elsewhere. I am so much happier with the other clinics I go to.

The wait times are outrageous. it would be one thing if i had to drop off the dog and got to pick her up when she was ready. but you have to wait in the car. i waited for just shy of two hours for a puppy check and shots. almost an hour in the vet called to say she was seeing the dog then. after our conversation and her letting me know the dog was ready to go i waited another 55 minutes. the last time i did a visit it was a drop off situation and they said they would call me when she was ready to pick up. when the vet called and said she was ready i went to go get her and once again i waited for 50 minutes in the car. both times i called to check to see what was going on and they told me the same thing, it was a very busy day. i understand busy. but clinics get to make their own schedules and even busy schedules can be more organized. i cant speak to the actual care of the animal as they take it from the car to the clinic and then walk them out. i cant imagine any animal loving being in a cage for several hours in a strange place with strange people though.

I wonder how many folks believe erroneously thatVets are choosing to continue this care delivery model of clients staying outside??This clinic has very nice people. Unfortunately every vets office is feeling the crunch from the pandemic and everyone buying new pets. Someone should look at ways to improve process and efficiency. As an RN in a busy hospital unit that also takes care of outpatients we would be constantly chewed out personally if we were running behind all the time. It is ALWAYS the front line crew that gets the blame when the process and or doctors arent kept on time and running efficiently. Sad but true. When are you guys going to open back up?? If your animal does need immediate attention, they have urgent appointment availability, where you wait when you get there, wait, wait, wait and maybe you get your animal seen soon or leave the animal. And the additional charges because you needed an urgent appointment for your animal. They used to be able to help patients and long time customers if one needed immediate attention. They have grown so much and seemed to have lost there original intent for care and service.

**PLEASE READ IF YOUR ANIMAL HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH RENAL FAILURE**I shouldve wrote this review quite awhile ago..I was honestly emotionally traumatized by the experience involving my cat, Gianna. She was previously declawed by her last owner and does not do well with Vet visits whatsoever so its always been important to me to find a place that have staff thats comfortable with handling aggressive and terrified felines. Needless to say, I had to give her Gabapentin before every visit..she was so terrified a normal dose just doesnt cut it..she fights right through it. So they give her more.. I brought her in because at the Feline Medical Clinic she was diagnosed with early onset Renal failure. After the diagnosis I began taking her to East Padden as it was more affordable. She was constipated heavily and had to have multiple procedures to help her poop.My cat being diagnosed with early onset renal failure changed her diet...low protein...because the kidneys are having a hard time filtering toxins. Problem with this is...cats NEED protein to survive. My cat was refusing to eat...she just didnt...Anything I tried did not help. I put tuna juice in her food, crushed up treats, dried shrimp...anything.. my food loving feline was now malnutrition from refusing to eat. I was encouraged not to give her tuna or any other kind of protein. 6 months later Giannas fir was greasy, matted looking, she stopped meowing, she moved slow and just lost her joy for life. If I didnt do something I knew my cat would die very soon...and not from Renal failure...but from STARVATION.I did so much research and actually found a solution Im surprised my own Vet did not even suggest to me.. Dr. Karen Becker is one of few holistic veterinarians that explains that weve only been feeding our domesticated animals kibble for about 100 years. That feeding and/or implementing a raw food diet into your animals life can significantly improve their health and lifespan...I ended up checking out Darwins Pet Products and found Intelligent Design Formula for Kidney Support raw food for felines.. It is NOT protein that the kidneys have trouble filtering..its the PHOSPHOROUS in the protein. So there are phosphorus blockers that direct it elsewhere in the body to be filtered other than the kidneys. Allowing your dog or cat to still eat protein without overworking the kidneys. If I hadnt found this information...I promise you, Gianna would be dead right now. She absolutely LOVES the food...her energy has skyrocketed. Shes turning 12 this year and you wouldnt even know it. She begs me to eat and scarfs it all down..she plays like shes a kitten again. Im so grateful to Dr. Karen Becker and the Darwins company for providing natural foods that our animals were meant to be eating. I sincerely hope this helps someone who is struggling to find a solution to help their sick firry family member. Im sure this was not done intentionally to my cat but a fatal mistake nonetheless..I just think as a doctor of sorts...its important to be up to date and offer insights to alternative solutions. Thank you for taking the time to read this, I hope it helps.Be well.

Every time I have to bring my pet to a vet clinic, it gives me chills. It wasn’t easy before pandemic, even harder during the quarantine. When the appointment is scheduled only for a pick up of the animal, why make people to wait on a parking lot for at least a half an hour? Pets get very agitated in a car. But that is bot the end of their troubles as they will be held then for hours in the hospital. It would be nice, if at least the animals would be picked up from a car on time. And why not to think it through and organize the appointments in such a manner, that animals, that brought for quick follow up or checkup (who don’t need surgery or some treatment protocols to follow), would not need to spend hours in a stressful environment or cages?May be people who work there are nice, but making patients and their owners to wait for hours is so disrespectful and unnecessary and stressful to animals and their owners.

At the day of surgery, after 4 hours we dropped him off, I got a call from the clinic saying the amount was changed from $350 to $918. I asked why. She said they didnt realized he had this condition until the day of the surgery. She said they were sorry, that unfortunately they couldnt do nothing about the price. Also, when I scheduled the pre-op exam, a staff member asked if he would get some vaccines he was due when he had been only a couple weeks ago there to take vaccines. Been bringing our dog here for a couple years now. It seems something has happened the past year. We dont get any consistent information from the staff there. I think they try but recently we had scheduled for our dog to get neutered and microchipped. We had previously purchased the puppy package so it came with a discounted price. We scheduled the procedure and then were informed that he needed a pre-op blood test. So we did that, and paid for it and was told the cost would be deducted from the total cost of the neuter/chip. At the same time we requested a total invoice so we could see what all were paying for and know what to expect. We never received the invoice, and a couple days later they informed us that our dog was either slightly dehydrated during the blood test or possibly had kidney issues and that wed need to bring him in for a urinalysis. I informed her that I would need to callback to reschedule but she informed me that I would be no additional cost for the tech visit and test.We called back to schedule the urinalysis but the new tech said it was going to be over $100 for the test. We decided to get it scheduled. The tech was going to schedule it at 10a but I asked if we can do earlier since it was supposed to be a morning pee sample. On the day of that test my wife gets him there and but they said it had to be his first pee of the day after waking up and gave us a tray to catch it in the next day. I was confused because the other tech said they were going into his bladder. We call back and finally get that figured out, the tech asked the doctor exactly what test he needed and it was something completely different than what the other tech said, and mentioned it would normally be $28 but they would waive the fee due to all the issues. We thought great, finally moving forward. Today was the exam and our dog has been doing good and the tech has been helpful but when I went to pay I had to pay the full price because the $85 from blood test was separate even though we had been told it would be deducted from the very beginning.I requested another invoice today to hopefully see everything broken down.Overall, I think theyre really trying but there is a very noticeable lack in training when it comes to pricing and how things are billed. I appreciate them waiving the fee for the urinalysis but wouldve been nice to have been informed on everything correctly from the beginning so we know what to expect. Thats why I ask questions and requested invoices. I think the care they provide is good but just need to properly inform customers and not have 3 different techs say 3 different things and end up having people paying more than they realize.

East Padden Animal Hospital is a very trustworthy clinic. I called multiple vets and everywhere had a 2-4 hour wait time. I called East Padden and was told I could drop my dog off and hed wait in line to be seen by a vet. The animals wait in line based on their condition, which makes total sense. A vet tech came out to the car and took my dog inside.Dr. Vanessa Hawkins was super understanding and didnt make me feel bad for adjusting treatment to make it more affordable. She suggested what was critical and what could be put on hold. Their entire staff, from the vet techs, to the person helping me on the phone, to the veterinarian-were all amazing. If you have realistic expectations (almost every hospital I called had a 2hr+ wait time) East Padden will work with you and prioritize your pets health. Hopefully I dont need to return, but if so, Ill come here.

Ive been bringing my 2 dogs here for years now and have usually had positive experiences but had a bad experience yesterday that really bothered me. I brought my dog in for Urgent Care services after he had been limping and yelping with what appeared to be a possible dewclaw issue. I dropped him off at 9am and they said the Dr would see him when she got a chance but to expect about a half a day. Ok. 215 I get a text message that he still hasnt been seen. I asked if they had taken him out to go to the bathroom. No response. At 330 I sent another message and they said he should be seen in the next hour or so. At 6pm they said they would see him. At this point Im having high anxiety because he doesnt do well at the vet, its past his dinner time and he has had hypoglycemia issues in the past, I dont know whether he has been taken out to go to the bathroom, and hes been there 9 hours at this point. I get a call from the Dr a little after 6 that they clipped his nails. What? I had to explain the issues he was having like she had no idea what was going on and she said she would reevaluate him. The tech called and said x-rays, could be $80, could be $200. I went ahead with the x-rays. I never received a call back from the vet to go over anything. They are sending the xrays off is what I was told. I get the bill, $350. I ask the tech what everything cost. She didnt know and said she would send me an email later, just wanted me to pay. She couldnt even go over the services performed or anything but they did charge me an office visit vs the cost of an emergency visit. Email indicates the x-rays were actually $230. I get my dog back who smelled AWFUL and acted traumatized, like he had been either sitting in his own vomit or poop or something. I still dont know if they let him out the whole 10 hours he was there. I had to give him a bath. I know the vets are very overwhelmed and I was expecting a wait, but 10 hours is excessive. To not even have a list of services performed at the time of payment or speak to the Dr to get a plan after paying $350 was upsetting also. But what upsets me the most is thinking he was just forgotten about and not getting cared for the 10 hours he was there. Its highly upsetting.

Ive taken 3 needy dogs here. My big girl tried to eat the vet. Instead of telling us to beat it, we came up a solution and meds that helped her be seen. One of my little gals was horribly sick, turned out she was diabetic. My last little girl got a horrible case of bronchitis and meds werent working, they were able to squeeze us in and revise all the meds and shes so much better! I thought we were going to loose both little girls. All of this happened in the last month.*****Ive seen people complain about the wait time. People its pandemic time! Just because you have to wait in the car doesnt mean they are slow. You would have to wait inside if it wasnt a pandemic. So, whats the difference? This place has a ton of vets and a ton of people working. Vet clinics all around the county are swamped.Ive dealt with 3 different vets here for each dog, they call you at all times, they follow up all the time. I love them. Im 100% pleased with them.

I work in a medical office and I know that giving patients the best care and attention is not hard. This vet office has failed on that level since the day I brought my puppy the first time. They take for ever to answer phone calls. They take for ever to get your pet and to bring them when they’re done. They tell you many different things and over charge then what they quoted you. And charge for post op exams. So far my experience has not been great and I know I will not be continuing bringing my pet here, nor will I recommend it to friends and family.

When I called about walk-ins I was told it would be 1-2 hours, at the 1.5 hour mark someone came to get my dog and within an hour I got the call that the sedation procedure was done and I could come get him! Pretty awesome. The doctor that called to update me was very sweet and kind. The worst service ever. They told me I needed to wait 24 hours for the results of my pet’s test. I had to call them the next day to ask for the results and they told me it was 24-48 hours. The nurses said that my pet would need antibiotics and to come back for them later. Ok. 48 hours later they sent the results and no explanation. I asked to have clarification because it said on the notes that they would need to speak with me to discuss an issue. No one reached out. They gave me the runaround. Had to call multiple times, leave a voicemail and it took them an EXTRA 26 hours to get back to me after results were posted . And on top of being absolutely horrendous, they gave me attitude when picking up my pet’s antibiotics? They are so shoddy I wouldn’t recommend them to my worst enemy.

I am so grateful for the folks at East Padden. My little bug Ernie (6 y.o. male Jack Russell Chihuahua mix) got into a scuffle and had a gnarly black eye and a couple lacerations. While his boo-boos seemed superficial, I wanted to err on the side of caution and I could also tell he was in some pain. East Paddens urgent care team was able to take him right away (but please note that I called right when they opened at 7:30 am) and he was seen and cleared within three hours. They were so kind and gentle and understood my nervous nelly-ness. Their parking lot check-in and -out system was very simple and easy - and they were responsive and communicative on wait times and updates on Ernies care. They were incredibly transparent on visit fees and itemized expenses and they were also kindly flexible and allowed Ernies bill to be paid over the phone directly by the owner of the dog who bit Ernie.COVID-19 has limited the capacity of a lot of vets at a time when there is also increased demand - it was impossible to find an appointment anywhere! Its not any one vet practices fault. But it means pet owners, myself included, have to turn to expensive emergency care for things that might normally be handled by a traditional vet. Most of the emergency care vets were already at capacity anyways, and emergency rates run incredibly high. But animal *urgent* care felt more appropriate for my Erns than true *emergency* care. Yes, I paid a lot more than a regular vet visit might cost - but those arent available anyways. And he was seen more quickly and at a lower cost than if wed gone with a larger, more well-known emergency vet in the area, like Dove Lewis (not knocking them, they just werent the best option in our situation!). My peace of mind and Ernies comfort was well worth it - and East Padden did a really wonderful job.I hope Ernie doesnt need urgent care again anytime soon... but Im put at ease knowing that if he does, East Padden is nearby. And Ill be recommending them to my pet-owning friends for urgent and routine care. Thank you all!!!

This review is based on a 7 month old kitten I brought in around 2 PM on a Saturday within the last few weekends. I adopted him locally several days before bringing him into the vet and the place I adopted him from told me he had started to show symptoms of a chest cold and was sneezing frequently. After a few days and monitoring his behavior, I wanted to be safe and bring him in because it was clear he was developing an upper respiratory infection. I called East Padden and gave a detailed list of his symptoms, his condition, where I adopted him from and expressed fear of his symptoms developing into pneumonia. I was told to bring him in to be examined as soon as I was able to and the appointment would take between an hour and at most 2 hours. I gathered his carrier, some treats and a blanket to keep him warm and arrived at the vet ’within an hour. It’s understandable that walk in veterinary clinics can get busy, especially on a Saturday, but that does not excuse the inexcusable treatment that my cat and I received. After 2 hours had passed, I still had not heard from anyone at the clinic. I called and no one answered. Thinking they’re busy and someone would call me shortly, I allowed some time to pass. After calling every 20 minutes for the next hour and still not having an answer I became concerned. I had to call 5 times in a row to have someone answer the phone (after over 3 hours since my sick kitten was admitted) to tell me the vet hadn’t even seen my kitten yet and that he would be second or third in line. I explained what I had gone through to get ahold of them and my concern for my sick animal and was called back by the veterinarian 20 minutes later. She told me information I already knew and prescribed antibiotics I was desperate to get for my pet. After 4 and half hours later... I picked up my kitten. I was told he may be wet because they gave him a fluid injection to help him rehydrate. When an employee brought my kitten out to my car, he was soaking wet, shivering and meowing in pain. Whoever put his harness back onto him had gotten his front leg stuck in the hole with his head and he was trying to get free and hurting himself in the process. Not only did this instruction not take ANY care or compassionate measures to help my sickly animal, they didn’t even administer any medicine to help him start to recover from an obviously developed and potentially life threatening condition. This care was negligible, irresponsible and I felt like an ATM for their business. I feel guilty for bringing him here and know that if a human being were treated this way it would be a violation of the human rights act and punishable by international law.I do not leave reviews unless I’m warning the general public on a personal experience because I want my community to be healthy and happy. The treatment I received from this institution was shameful and I hope this serves as a warning for anyone who cares about their pet.

I then asked to speak to a manager who accused me of “yelling” at her staff, I never did yell, I speak loudly because I’m partially deaf and that’s my compensation of not being able to hear. And I did inform the intake tech that I was deaf...This “manager” told me I was free to reschedule but I would not be seen at my 8am scheduled appointment. These people DO NOT care for your pet... they are rude and unprofessional and will not accept when they are proven to be wrong, and the techs are liars and will accuse you have being aggressive when they’re called out for being incorrectAs I DO NOT trust them to care professionally for my pet I will NOT be using their horrible services again. I feel very frustrated and with East Padden Animal Hospital. They are the only vet that sees rabbits in the area. The staff seems very friendly, HOWEVER;I have been to this office three times. Each time I have waited in the parking lot for excessive amounts of time. Hours. Not exaggerating.Urgent care visit kept me in the parking lot for 2 hours to drop her off and two hours and 10 minutes to pick her up (after confirmation she was ready to leave with medication ready). Thats four hours and ten minutes FOR DROP OFF SERVICES. They actually forgot me in the afternoon even after I texted the office twice.I scheduled my rabbit to get spayed. This procedure was highly recommended by the vet when my rabbit was originally seen by her. I wasnt sure if I was going to do it as she is a rabbit- how silly. But I was told that the spay is important for rabbits well being and health.East Paddens prices are considerably higher for a rabbits spay than average (per Google). I waited an hour and a half to drop her off for her 9am appt. I watched other people drop off their pets and return for pick up in the time I waited in the parking lot TO DROP OFF my pet. After the spay, I was sent home with pain/anti-inflammatory medication for my pet. Five days worth of medication every twelve hours (ten doses of .25mg). I ran out of medication after the fifth dose. The syringe was marked for me and I write down and mark off all doses- so I know I was short-changed the very expensive, essential pain medication.I called at 7:30 this morning and called back repetitively until someone answered the phone (five times), as directed by voice message for the business. I told her that I didnt even have enough of the medicine for last nights dose (5th dose) and I was very worried about her being in pain. I asked for more medication and a call back ASAP as she was missing her morning dose of PAIN management. I was assured she would have someone get back to me as soon as possible. It is now 330 with no callback. This is cruel and so unprofessional. If this medication wasnt necessary I am sure they wouldnt have sent it home and charged such an exorbitant amount. As they deemed it necessary-- I would think someone would have rectified their error and gotten me more medication for my pets PAIN and inflammation. No callback. No apologies. Nothing.Do not expect someone to pick up the phone when you call- even when it is urgent. This office overbooks itself and has terrible office management. I feel the vet is knowledgable but I dont think the misery and (literal) pain of dealing with the unprofessional, unresponsive staff is worth it.Also callbacks are usually done at the end of the day. If you call as soon as they open- dont expect even urgent return calls.Im very worried for my rabbit. This is the worst vet experience I have ever had. I hope someone benefits from this review as it doesnt appear to be a one time instance.

Update 08/11/21: Unfortunately decided to keep going here due to other vets being so far booked out. Had our new puppy spayed along with another minor surgery done here, so they provided a sedative to keep her calm while she healed. Well the amount they prescribed was not enough to actually keep her calm so we called them to find out if we could give her more. We called multiple times a day for several days after her surgery, leaving voice-mails too, and no one ever responded. Finally I left a message expressing that I wanted a refund on our puppy package. They finally called my husband back (that alone irritated me as I left the message with MY phone number to call back, but whatever). There was some confusion on our part on what was included in the puppy package, but they were so rude and condescending to me when explaining things. Their customer service is super lacking and Kathy, who I believe is the office manager, is the worst by far. Its sad, because the techs are great and our puppy loves them, but the front office staff have treated my husband and I like trash. Weve gotten our dogs in with another vet and will not be returning.Called yesterday to make an appointment for my dog, they didnt have any open appointments that worked with my schedule for the following day so I told them I would check with my husband and call them back. I called back not even 5 minutes later and they dont answer, so I left a message. I called back this evening about getting an appointment for the weekend since no one ever called me back. Of course now theyre fully booked. They also need a new check-in system. We would arrive for our appointment, text them as the sign says to, then proceed to wait until about 10 minutes after our appointment time and then call them. They would tell us someone would be right out and then we would watch 3 people who arrived after us get their animals taken in while were still waiting. They also told us that our dog did not have bone cancer, she just injured her shoulder. 3 weeks later when she still isnt getting any better we take her back in to find out that she does in fact have bone cancer. We are back to searching for a caring and reliable vet and we will not be returning to EPAH.

I left two voicemails asking for updates and didn’t get a call back until after 5pm (I dropped her off at 8:30am). Wait times are also annoyingly long. I am currently waiting in my car and have been for 30 minutes past her most recent appointment. I have another appointment to get to but can’t leave until they come get my dog. Great staff, great doctors, great location. Quick thinking from the doctor saved my dogs life for sure and I’m so grateful. But Terrible customer service. Honestly super annoying.Update. I have a newly adopted kitten that developed a nasty eye infection. Our regular vet tried to work her in but was totally slammed. All emergency and urgent care clinics we tried had 6+ hour wait times with no availability to drop off the patient. Finally, we called East Padden Animal Hospital, and they were able to offer us a next day urgent care with the ability to drop off our kitty and not miss a whole day of work, and put us at the top of their waitlist for any cancellations. They ended up getting us in the same day when they had a cancellation, and we were in and out within an hour. They provided excellent care, were super organized and efficient, and we felt like they genuinely cared about our cat. If we are ever in a situation where our regular vet is unavailable in the future, we will absolutely go to East Padden first.

We came yesterday at 11am for an urgent visit referred by our regular vet and was pleased to only wait 1 hour to get him taken inside. 4 hours after he was there I got a call from the Dr with a treatment plan proposal, and I declined bloodwork but was thinking I would likely go ahead with everything else. I said I would double check with my husband and she said to call or text back. I tried calling and they didn’t answer so I texted and said I approved everything including his take-home meds. They didn’t reply back so I called again and they looked up my text and said they would let the dr know to move forward and it would probably be a couple more hours. 4 hours later at 7:45pm I called to check on him because I hadn’t heard anything and they close at 8. I was put on hold and my call dropped. I called back and left a message and when the lady finally called back she told me that she must have called a wrong number but had called and left a message a while ago trying to let me know I could pick him up at 7pm and he’d be ready to try eating some food. I asked about the medicine and she said I declined it. I said I have the text showing I approved it, and I had called and spoke to someone. She said no problem she could have it ready in the 30 min it takes for me to get there. I get there and wait for him to come out and the guy brings no medicine. I asked about it and he said there was no meds in his chart. He went back in to fix it. I stood outside waiting and he finally brought it back, told me my total, and went back inside. I didn’t get any information about how to care for him or what to expect as far as food or water or the giant sack in his shoulder from the IV that I had to google about and ask a friend to make sure it was normal. Just absolutely zero communication, & I felt like they should have noticed if they called me to come get him and over an hour later no one had come and they were about to close...but I had to call for them to notice. And they had contact info for both my husband and I. It give me the impression my dog was neglected. I could have had him home by 7:30pm if his meds were ready and they had actually called me, but instead got my hungry and anxious puppy home at 9pm. I appreciate the flexible hours and ability to be seen, and everyone was very kind, but capacity should be accompanied by the ability to actually give attentive care to the animals.

I called and told them situation and that I wanted them to do an Xray of stomach to see if everything was ok. I was told by 1st person, the drop off exam would be $90.2nd person called back and said bloodwork and xrays would be additional, totaling $256. I told them to go ahead.A 3rd person called and said stomach looked good, discussed possibilities of upset stomach etc.I picked him up and was given an amount due of $756. Thats $500 more than I had last been quoted and I was not given a receipt. I called and requested itemized receipt, there were several procedures on bill that were not discussed with me.When I take my car in to get my oil changed and they find something else that needs work, the mechanic calls to get the ok to go ahead with repair or not. That is normal protocol. What East Padden did, was not normal protocol, there was bad communication, too many people involved and I feel like I was taken advantage of. I would not recommend this facility.

I have been bringing my pets here, dogs and cats, for 13 years. Since Dr. Thompson opened on the corner on Ward Road. In the last year the quality of service has gone down hill dramatically, which is understandable, to a point. We’re all making adjustments in this pandemic, but this clinic has been making mistakes with my pets for the last 6 months that are just irresponsible, they show a huge lack of communication between drs and staff and drs and clients. I have a dog who needs medication and blood work every 4 months for the last year. The exact same test has had a very fluctuating cost... which is corrected every time I point it out (up words of $150), after snide comments. Then we increase his prescription based on his blood results, and this Vet is not accurately documenting what their medical plan is for my dog. They recommended to increase his meds to the same dosage they increased him to 4 months ago. There’s always a miscommunication, mis-charge, and mistake. If this is happening to me, I am sure I am not the only one. I will be taking all 4 of my dogs elsewhere. Please pay close attention, some mistakes are detrimental, unforgivable. Honestly, there are plenty of vets and hospitals, not even in an emergency will we be coming back here.

My cat is on 3yrs borrowed time from the TLC, attentiveness, creative planning for a tricky patient like my little boy who is riddled w health land mines.I have trust issues when it comes to the care of my boy, except when it comes to the Drs at East Padden (especially Dr. Hawkins!). Their desire to see a case through, to always be available, to always make time. They have yet to let me or my animals down.I truly believe that if it werent for this hospital my cat would have been passed on by now.
