Was going to join this location however the hours are terrible. Nice facilities, but can’t seem to justify a gym for this price if i get out of work after they close
This place is awesome. I go for a swim in the salt water pool.
Equinox is doing an exceptional job keeping the club safe during COVID. There is contactless checkin with temp monitoring daily, they are limiting access and you must schedule your visits but there hasn’t been any trouble getting time slots. The gym is extremely clean and they have sanitizing stations everywhere. For those who are nervous It feels safer than going to the mall or supermarket. Highly recommend!
I used to have to take the subway to get there many years ago. I had trouble with weigth gain I found out dr hymans book the ultramind solution where you eat organic vegetables and p90x you can get on ebay for $20 using 3 pounds weights and skipping plyometrcs and yoga got me in better shape. my friend khanan said he doenst like it that its dirty
THEY CHARGED US 3 YEARS AFTER CANCELLATION HAS BEEN CONFIMED BY MANGER WITH EMAIL PROOFcustomer service is fakewe want 7000 back u charges us illegiblyeven if u change CC number they obtain the new number without permissionthe ONLY way to cancel is to pay your bank to stop paymentben g alor
As expected, this Equinox is excellent on all levels. Great layout and flow. Top quality machines and free weights. Very experienced, helpful and friendly staff. I look forward to every visit. The locker room is pristine with Kiels products and a great steam room. Theres also a fantastic salt water lap pool. If they just had a sun deck and outdoor pool, this would be a destination location. Worth every penny.
Needs an update
I never write reviews but...wow...they forced my hand! Ive been a member of Equinox since 2010- first in NYC at Rock Center and now at both Columbus Ave and Summit. In the Summit location, Ive come to learn that the GM is almost bizarrely unresponsive to any problems weve encountered. Need some quick help getting your childs membership cancelled when he goes off to school? Sorry- thats gonna take 4 months. Expect proper maintenance when 2 of 3 stationary bikes break down? Sorry, months will pass before youre back on that bike. Expect a reply to an email requesting clarification of cell phone rules? Nope. Not gonna happen. Someone at corporate should really insist that this guy get some remedial training in basic customer service and communication. The rest of the staff is friendly; trainers seem caring and competent. Ill stay a member in Manhattan, but the minute a better option to Summit comes up, Im outta there!
Not sure why a lot of these comments are so negative. Its a great gym with a very helpful staff. Ive also always gotten quick responses from managers when Ive needed assistance with something. Ive been a member for 1+ years and I still love going! If youre looking to join a gym in this area, Equinox is definitely the best choice.
Ive been a member for 4 - 5 years. I honestly have never experienced the issues Ive just read in the complaints. Ive found the local management and staff to be of the highest quality. I always get extremely helpful responses to any issues that arise. Admittedly, I have not tried to cancel my membership and maybe that process is a problem. But as far as ongoing membership is concerned, this is the best fitness club Ive ever experienced.
I was considering joining this gym, but merely a brief communication with the management staff made me give up. Perhaps the company and the management deeply believed that Equinox is THE ONE with no other comparable places in this area, they really dont care much about adding a new member in this area.
Not sure why everyone is so pissed about this place. Its great. Instructors are awesome, good staff, etc.
Compared to all the Equinox gyms in the city, this one in Summit beats them all. Its cleaner, the equipment is well kept, and it doesnt get outrageously crowded - unlike the city. The locker rooms are clean and the showers are actually sanitary. Finally the $220/month seems almost worth it.
Let me say this first. I read the bad reviews just after I joined last year. I can tell you that this gym is fantastic. The classes are great. The amentias are great and well worth the price. Brian Grogen is the administrator of the Summit location. He is a consummate professional. He really is a customer and member advocate. Any claims that they keep charging your card after you have cancelled your membership are unfounded. I can tell you first hand that this did not happen to me. I have left this gym, but I know I will be back. Thank you, Brian. To anyone who reads this... If you can afford this gym...you will not be disappointed.
Bare bones. Definitely not even close to the Equinox locations in NYC or Boston. Its a shame they charge the same price as other and much nicer locations. When a machine at the nicer Equinoxes breaks down, they are sent to Summit
You have to be careful with Equinox. I have tried canceling over three times and I finally found out i need to have a notary validate the cancellation letter. When I tried to get this processed the manager was conveniently not in each time I tried to get it processed. STAY away. Terrible company protocols.
Worst gym ever. Don’t waste your money here
I was a member of the Equinox in Summit prior to my wedding in October of 2015. I loved it before my wedding, but then it started to go downhill. The classes were at odd times, instructors weren’t as great as they were in the beginning and I just felt like I wasn’t as excited to go. I took a break from it, and decided to give it another try towards the end of February 2018. I am very happy with my experiences lately. The classes I’ve attended are all really great, the trainer I’ve worked with (Rob Lolatte) has been very helpful and motivating, getting me back into the gym after having a baby, and overall it has just been a great experience. I hope that the positive experiences I’ve had in the past few weeks continue. It is a little pricier than some gyms, but I do truly feel you get a lot for your money.
I have been a member of this gym for a little over a year. I gotta say that I fell in love with this location at first...then it went downhill for a moment...however, the GM of this location was responsive to my comments and now I love this gym again. I have to say that it has a great layout and it has all the machines you may need. I have been to other locations one of them is in WeHo but nearly as good as this one.Quite happy with this gym. The floor trainers and personal trainers (I work out with Tori Zuber every once in a while) are really great.
I dislike this gym so much, its hard to give any stars. I dont write reviews and I never take what i read to heart. i feel your opinion is your opinion.. why should it sway me one way or another??That being said... as an avid gym and class enthusiast, this place is the worst! I do pilates, soul cycle, pure barre and hot yoga - so I know my way around a gym and can keep up with any class. This gym isnt a gym at all, but rather a large personal training facility! If this is what youre looking for- good for you, this is your place! Everyone there, and I mean EVERYONE there, either takes a class, or trains with a trainer. You are not encouraged or welcome to use free weights- ever! I have been asked every time I go there (I average a whopping 2/3x a month) to jump out so that the trainer can finish their rotation and not have to wait. SERIOUSLY???? I guess my rhythm and sequence doesnt much matter!?As for what another reviewer said.. day passes are impossible! I have been a member (or rather a contributor because as I say, I hate it and never go!) for over two years. Not one pass for a guest- not one!I remain a member because I enjoy going with my husband, on the rare occasion hes home at night (he goes to Equinox at another location that he likes). No passes, terrible camaraderie on the floor and an overall feeling like I dont belong - makes this place a thumbs down for sure!(Dont make me start on the parking - or lack there of !!!!!)
Sam Buds is an amazing representative of Equinox! Over all great atmosphere and presentation.
The equipment is pretty standard, its essentially the same as youd see in any other gym. In fact, I thought it was a little outdated as compared with the gym that I currently go to but Im sure it gets the job done. There is also a day care, physical therapy, coat check, juice bar, classes, and personal training. Of course, this all comes at a price which is quite hefty as compared with the average gym,
Not bad, not great. Probably leaning to slightly below average. It just does not feel like an Equinox compared to other locations. It is cramped, several machines are aged, staff generally OK...the combination does not make this place scream Equinox - it is more like “Any Joe’s Gym”
I have been to many gyms overall and many equinox locations and let me tell you, this one is the best! And I’m comparing to locations in NY on 63rd and WTC, WeHo in West Hollywood, Brickell and Brickell Heights in Miami and Merrick Park in Coral Gables. This is why this location is the best:1. They have all equipment anyone could ever need and it is always well maintained2. They have all accessories: bands, ankle weights, jumping ropes, fitness balls of all colors and sizes3. The way the machines are set up on the floor actually makes sense instead of being random and you don’t have to play “where is Waldo” looking for a machine you need.4. The trainers are great5. The management is great6. The front desk is great7. This location has a shop which I personally like8. The facility is cleanI am moving to Miami now and I wish I could take this gym with me! Thank you for great two years!
I joined the gym two weeks ago and am thrilled. I did not expect to join. I was not even shopping around. Rather, I sold, in all the right ways. That is, on account of the quality. The price is absolutely worth it. First, all of the classes are free. Count up your $40 a month membership plus $15 a class at your normal gym, and what do you get? $40 a month for nothing because you never go because you don’t want to pay another $15 each time for a class that’s fairly lame anyhow in a gym that’s too crowded anyhow where the locker rooms are are all metal, tile and plastic.“Meh maybe I’ll just go to the park.” And then you don’t do that either. Now imagine going 6 days a week because you genuinely want to. Bc the place makes you happy. Because you feel safe, energized, welcomed, special. Check it:6 * $15 * 4 > $1605 * $15 * 4 > $160Even 4 * $15 * 4 > $160It’s a steal. Go 3 times a week and you’ve covered the membership on the classes alone. But now add a superb, positively undone staff. A hello every entry. A goodby every exit. Constant cleaning of the locker-rooms. They have staff permanently in the locker rooms, on a rotating basis, in constant motion. So its always spotless and it’s not like you have an attendant who’s just waiting standing there. The app is actually fun to use not just useful. I like booking classes on it bc it’s more accountability. Some of their classes are now walk-ins but I’ve never been denied entry into a class even when late. Now you worry: won’t I get bored? What about my niche yoga boutique class! No. Stop paying 50 people $20 each for “um, yea it was great.” This place has all the variety you want: yoga Pilates cycling many variations of bootcamp several types of athletic dance walking class running class stretch class. They keep up with the latest trends and science. The instructors in everything are, very clearly, the very best. And everything is in sync. So you get the best grade cycling instructor, the best grade yoga teacher, the most unbelievably serious (and fun!) Pilates, the most cutting edge bootcamps. All in one. One price. One place. All top quality.I feel LUCKY to be a member. Thats how impressed I am.Now come all the delightful little things. Once you have a solid product it’s truly the little things that separate you. I love the salt water lap pool (hardly ever used, in a wooden spa-like atmosphere). Then there are the cold Eucalyptus towels always stocked in two fridges on the floor. Just for you to cool down with between sets.I’ve saved the best for last: the trainers. I won’t say more than this because it’s too special to describe further:Are you a soul, of any gender, who wants to get stronger, healthier, and most important: happier? Good. Come. These folks believe in their product, in you, and in themselves. For good reason!
Love working and working out here. Great team of trainers
Not only is the place clean, the trainers here are very experienced! They take pride in their work!
Beware even if you don’t renew they charge you and not a great experience with management
Very clean, great classes and instructors.
As a starting point, i am a man in his mid 20s whose trained for years in martial arts, soccer, calisthenics, kettle bells, and am in relatively good shape for someone my age.I have been a member for 1+ years and I would not suggest this place to anyone (unless you have money to spend and are desperate to break away from whatever gym you are at). Let me first off by stating that this gym and business practices are poorly run. In order to join you must sign up for one year paying 156 (the membership fee has gone up since then) dollars a month, and the tag line for this contract is A dedication to fitness Actually its more like a dedication to filling this gyms pockets. The only way (get this) you can get out of the contract without paying a cancellation fee is either through pregnancy, injury or you move 25+ miles away! Getting out of equinox (assuming you somehow get through the year w.o cancelling or other aforementioned items) theres a 45 day notice you must fill out with the gym before they terminate your membership, which is god awfully long for something most people can do using computers these days, and then you still have to pay them for the month +15 days! When you fill out this gyms satisfaction survey, the GM and assistant GM are kind enough to email you back and ask why is it you are unhappy with your membership but whatever you say doesnt matter cause they just apologize nod and say they will try to fix it but they never do, theyre also for some reason addicted to have you call them, i dont know why..... The classes could be better and most classes cater to the casual gym go-er, not someone who is dedicated to really pushing their limits. Most instructors say you can come to them and offer suggestions but that too falls on deaf ears. The gym caters too much to quantity of people in the classes not quality of classes. Private sessions (which range from 84 -111 dollars depending upon the tier trainer you have and how many sessions you buy with them) with trainers cost an arm and a leg on top of the 156 they charge per month, and dont even get me started on the spa costs. Parking at this gym is atrocious since people park in front of the entrance way (which arent parking spots) and not in parking spots due to a sense of entitlement, and are never punished. If you ever get to know some of the gym go-ers well enough, odds are you will find that they all have 1-2 complaints about this gym and how its run.The only few redeeming factors about this gym (hence why i didnt give it a 1 star) are that there are a few (i can count on one hand) classes that give you a great work out and the club does try to push a sense of community/networking, which is why i stayed the +1 years. However, that really isnt enough to justify the cost of the gym(which they really should offer members a break down in the prices). To be fair this isnt like the other equinoxes in NYC (which i have visited as well), and this review is exclusively for this facility.
I was very disappointed that the gym didnt allow day passes. I was in town for a wedding and was looking to work out. It has never been my experience that there isnt a policy to pay a nominal fee to use a gym for the day. I dont understand how this makes sense if you want to try the facility before joining.
Ok - however, montly cost not justified in services and facilities provided
Great facility!
Unfriendly manager and quality is bad.
Low pay for the maintenance workers who keep the place spot less they pay minimum wage $8.38hr
