My car broke down leaving me stranded 850 miles from home. I was towed to Cooper Lake Auto on a Monday evening at the recommendation of the tow truck driver. They had me up and running by Thursday allowing me to safely get home at a cost well under what I was quoted. I would recommend this business and would further patronize them if I lived in the area.

It’s quite apparent this business does not care about gaining new customers. Dropped my car off at 3:00 on a Monday afternoon as the temperature gauge was on Hot and air was not functioning correctly. Was told by Ashley that she wasn’t sure they would get to it that day. I certainly wasn’t expecting that, but did not want to continue to drive with it being hot.When I had not heard anything back the following afternoon at 12:30 I called to check on status. I was hopeful since they open at 8:00 they would have possibly done the diagnostic check. I was told it had not been looked at and wasn’t sure it would be looked at THAT day. Certainly was not told that information upon dropping off vehicle. I would not have left the car if that was the case. Ashley had a very flippant attitude when I expressed my dissatisfaction.Great for them they are so busy that they don’t care about gaining new customers. Better for me as I found a shop within 3 miles that exhibited an extremely high standard of customer service.*** Wow, interesting, how quick you are to respond to a review. Might be a good business plan to incorporate that into your actual customer service. And thanks Ga Luxury Automotive is amazing. I even got a car to use while mine is being repaired.

I was referred by a friend when I felt like I was being over charged to replace my starter. They were able to replace my starter within 2hrs. They provided text messages along the way detailing the progress of my vehicle and a review of other services needed. I called and they answered all my questions and concerns. I appreciate their transparency and will definitely be back to handle other mechanical/maintain needs for my vehicle.

Ashley and Patrick. Smh the only two employees who can answer the phone and they honestly will give you the run around. If your looking to get a car fixed do don’t expect it to be fixed within 2-3 weeks. This is the third week they had me wait and now I have to wait until next Monday AGAIN to add a part that I could add my self smh. Whoever the ceo is needs new employees. They’re no point of scheduling a appointment if it has to be pushed out 3 weeks

I’ve taken my car there since moving to Vinings. The front desk staff is always very friendly. Ashley now remembers my name even though I only come for oil changes and she always greets everyone with a smile. They do their best to help you and that service is why I’ve kept coming back.My one qualm about Cooper lake is since covid times everything seems to take a lot longer on my car, not sure why but to be honest the level of customer service I get from Ashley and the few interactions I’ve had with the mechanics is stellar and makes up for it.

Just called and asked how much would it be to install brake pads and routers that I’ve already bought. The lady said $200 for installation. now I’m no mechanic but I know damn well it ain’t no 200 dollar job. Call around first before dealing with this company. This was the highest number I’ve got so far from calling around the area.

I would NOT recommend this shop to anyone. I went there just to get a cost of what was already diagnosed by another mechanic. The price was way out of line (mechanics $180.00 per hour) and I decided against doing the repairs. I was still charged a diagnostic fee of $150.00 even though another shop who they partner with all the time already did the diagnostic.

Ive serviced two cars here so far and both times I had an excellent experience. One of those times they had my car through the middle of a hurricane with a statewide power outage and they still had my car serviced within a couple of days. Ill be bringing all my vehicles here from now on.

Very very disappointed dissatisfied lack of follow up we had to constantly call for an update! On top of that they never repaired the issue. We spent 1100 on repairs that still resulted in the issue still being present; then they wanted to charge us another 2-3k to try to replace something else with them;yet again even knowing what the issue was. We brought the truck in with a fully working battery; they told us it needed to be replaced because It wasn’t working. They said they went to replace it at the auto parts next door; and said they would t allow them to do it. So they charged us for a new battery; we asked for the old one so we could get it taken care of they never gave it back. Not to mention we had to get a rental so we were out that money too They had the truck for almost a week and still no repair done to fix it. I would not recommend this place to anyone

I stopped here because I was traveling from fl to indimana with 3 kids and a dog. My car starting acting up very bad. I pulled into this mechanic shop and they wouldnt even look at it. Told me they were too busy with people that had appointments. Way to leave a lady and 3 kids stranded.

We were stranded on our way home from Atlanta to Birmingham and brought the car in to replace the starter. It took 2 full days to repair. I felt that there was no sense of urgency or compassion coming from this place of business due to our situation. For a business who was next door to a car parts place I think this took entirely too long and delayed us two days coming home. We were running out of time and money and really received no updates and 3 separate times that it should be ready. I wasnt begging for sympathy but a kind ear would have been appreciated.

I was disappointed with the service after all the positive reviews for this repair shop. I called to make an appointment and was quoted $75 for a diagnostic exam. I went to my appointment and the young woman at the desk told me the diagnostic exam is $150. I informed her that I was told $75. I guess she was displeased with my response. I decided to take my business to another shop.

Took my car in because it had a melt down while I was driving. Engine started smoking and shaking. They took my car in , it had some major issue that should have taken weeks to fix. I got it back in three days. Car runs much better. Even fix some leaks that I didnt tell them about. It cost a bit, but like I said, it had issue. They have earned a returning customer.

I noticed that fluid was leaking from my car. We called Copper Lake Automotive, they were able to take my car and diagnose the problem that same day. The diagnostic showed that the water pump needed to be replaced. The next day we gave them the go head to fix it. They had it fixed that same day by mid-afternoon for me to pick up. Due to the quick turnaround and quality of service, I was minimally impacted since I was without my car for a short amount of time. I would definitely go back to them for future service.

Weve had our car serviced at Cooper for a few years and have always been appreciative of their quality, price and service...until today. In the past, Cooper has always been a place we could trust, thats why we always felt comfortable taking our vehicle there. Its hard to find a good mechanic. However, we recently took our car in for service and the prices have changed DRASTICALLY! They charge $130 to check ANYTHING...and this was not stated up front. Although when I went in to pick up my car today, the same rep who charged me $130, charged someone else $65. Maybe he can in on a good day. Not only do they charge $130 to check the car, the rep told me that if we got the issue fixed at Cooper, the $130 would be waived...Guess what...I STILL HAD TO PAY $130 even after they fixed it. Ended up paying $260 just to have my car looked at and after the check fee, labor fee, part fee, SHOP FEE, and taxes...we ended up having to pay almost $900! DEFINITELY UNEXPECTED. So, long story short, if you are into being RIDICULOUSLY OVER CHARGED to get your vehicle serviced, then Cooper Lake is the place for you. To the rest of America...I STRONGLY RECOMMEND to find another TRUSTWORTHY, REASONABLE service center for your vehicle.

I was a first time customer of Cooper Lake Auto. They did a good job with routine maintenance on my car. Good customer service and didn’t smear grease all over the steering wheel as I frequently experienced at the dealer! Prices are ok - higher than some teaser dealer costs but they also did not try to scare me into additional unnecessary services as is often the case with dealership service departments in my experience. I would return for service again.

They are trustworthy, reliable, professional, and always friendly and courteous. I live in Roswell now, but dont even give it a second thought to drive to Smyrna for any service or repairs I need. Been coming here a few times within the past year or so. They do great work. Theyre very thorough and clear in diagnosing your cars main issues. Once I had a check engine light on. Another garage wanted to charge upward of $500 for things I didnt even need. Brought it to Cooper Lake Automotive and they discovered I just needed a new gas cap. Truthful and professional. The staff member in the front, Kaitlin I believe is her name, is awesome and polite. Very knowledgeable as well.

I have gotten a lot of work done on my car (Nissan 350z) at Cooper Lake Automotive. The customer service is great, however, the service is unreliable. When you go to an auto shop, you want the mechanics and the service to be consistent. You want to feel confident that the mechanics know what they are doing and that they will perform the service you are paying for.I took my car in with the error code P0014 to pass emissions and they were able to resolve the issue. But before I could pass emissions the service engine light on my car was on, and they diagnosed my car and told me I needed two brand new catalytic converters. The cost of the parts and the labor totaled to around $1,900. After the new catalytic converters were put in, the service engine light was still on! They told me they couldnt resolve the problem, and to go to a dealership (which I did). It cost an additional $500 for a brand new throttle body at the dealership. I was shocked an understandably angry.I swore I would never go back to Cooper Lake Automotive. However right before I was able to sell my car, my service engine light came back on. What was the error code? P0014, the code I paid Cooper Lake Automotive to fix less than a year ago. Because it was less than a year since the repair, the part was still covered under warranty. I took the car back to them the week before I was supposed to sell my car, because I couldnt sell my car to the buyer with the service engine light on. The cost of the part was free, but I had to pay $124 for labor to have the cam shift sensor (Bank 1) replaced.And guess what? I paid and went to turn on my car AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON!!! Didnt I just pay to have this issue resolved? I went inside and let the staff know and they told me they would try to resolve the issue again. I left my car there and slept on it. In the morning I realized Im not going to continue to give them my money if they cant fix my car. A mechanics shop cant get by on good customer service. Im paying to have my car fixed and thats what I expect to be done. I took it to another mechanic and it only cost me $95 and they fixed my car in less than 30 minutes. The bottom line is I just cant trust this shop.

Very nice people and very clean place. Just spent $250.00 to have my hitch installed on my brand new Outback. Not happy with the quality of the cut into the bumper shroud. For that amount of money, I would expect a cleaner cut, than what was done. Disappointed.After speaking with Bill the owner and him explaining to me the process of installing the hitch and trying to be as careful as possible as they are just as nervous when working on a brand new car as the owner is, they did do a very good job. The cut lines are difficult even with a fine tooth saw blade and a reciprocating saw as well as following the template. Hence the reason they provide a trim strip as well with the hitch.Again, great people and the owner does take a personal interest in making sure their clients are happy.....a very rare characteristic in todays world.Id highly recommend these folks if you need work done on your car.

Initially gave you guys a 5 stars from my first visit. The second time around i was blown away by your lack of professionalism and no confidentiality.Im a dealer and took a vehicle to your shop to have a Pre-purchase inspection done because I recommended it to a potential client. That client called your shop; the report was shared with him and additional work done without my knowledge or consent; your staff did not have the decency to call and ask if it was okay to share the inspection report or to add additional charges to my bill.You guys also made allot of misdiagnosis. Took the same vehicle to a dealership and half the problem you misdiagnosed never came up.These skeevy business practice for an establishment that has been in business for so long is unacceptable!I STRONGLY WOULDNT RECOMMEND COMING HERE!

Weve noticed a big change in the customer service/flexibility since they re-did the place and since Gary has been gone. Not sure what happened. They were definitely 10 stars before.Cosmetics have improved but the service has not. They arent any different than other places now. First time since weve been in Smyrna that we look elsewhere.

Visiting family in Smyrna, passing through from NC to Oklahoma. Knew vehicle was acting strange that night before when I arrived family house, and brother in law knew where we would take it that next morning.Faced with a pending 13 hour drive that morning, Kristen got me scheduled real quick once I explained my situation. Spoke briefly with Patrick (technician) as he headed to car, and car was in garage before I left!The most amazing part first was the reception I received. Very nice! Then the texts and emails that followed with complete diagnosis of what my electrical diagnostics test revealed AND pictures of each courtesy check performed and recommendations for each marginal result! I don’t know what software that is, but I have never had that media before! Wow!Short story is two hours after dropping my car off, I was in your awesome front reception area paying, getting receipt, keys and a “safe trip.”I grabbed a few business cards and gave them to my brother in law. We’ve taken both of our vehicles here several times. All times the staff had been helpful, courteous, and have contacted us back within a timely manner. We also had a time constraint and they had our vehicle completed well before. I love the detailed text messages with photos of the progress of the service. Brought my 2018 Focus RS back after an initial visit to have a hitch installed. The hitch is installed correctly, but the bumper was not. Bumper was not aligned correctly, and two edges where the bumper meets the rear fenders bows out.They fixed the alignment issue, but the plastic still bows out in the initial place I found. Front desk person explained its not a fastener issue, which tells me they warped or otherwise damaged a plastic component.See the attached picture. It should not be poking out, and there shouldnt be give. It isnt securely seated, and now Im left to fixing the problem.I wont be coming back here.

I read an earlier review that complained about synthetic oil being used in their car, and I hope readers are aware that some cars REQUIRE synthetic oil. After seeing their sign saying Best in Smyrna and reading so many good reviews, I took my Mini Cooper in here a couple weeks ago to see if they could beat the dealers price on a water pump the dealer said needed to be replaced. After a thorough inspection of my car, including a 45-minute pressure test of the cooling system, the guy told me that much as hed love to sell me a water pump, it just didnt need one. The inspection did reveal a cracked serpentine belt, so we set up an appointment to take care of that as he said hed need to have the car for a whole day. I got my car in first thing in the morning, then got a phone call around 3pm saying that theyd gotten things halfway apart and discovered that the job required a tool they didnt have. The guy went on to say that he wasnt going to buy a tool for one job, so I was going to have to find someone else to do the work. When I went to pick my car up, I asked what tool they needed, and the counter person just said a Mini Cooper Serpentine Belt Tool. I asked if that was something only dealers had and she didnt know. When I got home, I googled it. Amazon has the BMW Mini Cooper (R50/R53) Serpentine Belt Tool Kit for $29.95 (retail, $65.25).They could easily have bought the tool, added it (or at least part, since theyd be able to use it again) in the cost of the belt, and I would probably never have been the wiser. I would also have gone back there the next time my car needs work. Instead, Ill be going elsewhere. Honesty is great, but customer satisfaction counts for just as much.

I recently had to get a new clutch system for my car and I really loved how the kept us informed and up on the whole process. I came here a few months ago to get brakes on my mini. Ive been meaning to write a review. First off the young girl I think her name was Heather or something with dark hair at the front desk was rude on the phone and in person. She had an attitude and was impatient for no reason. Then they told me for two breaks it would be almost $3,000 LOL! Im 23 years old but Im not naive... just new to the area and didnt know where to go. I ended up buying the parts myself and having someone replace them all for under $800.

My only comment is regarding the cleanup after the work was done - there was a bit of a mess in the engine compartment and that was not expected. I made an appointment for an oil change for my vehicle and my fiances vehicle. I stated that I needed an appointment for regular oil changes. At the completion of my oil change and receiving the bill I was a little shocked, $66 for a regular oil change. I didnt question this and left. Today my fiance had her oil changed there, gets the bill and $100 for an oil change! Her vehicle was given a full synthetic oil change without asking what she preferred. Although when the appointment was made I said regular oil changes. I called to question why she was not asked and why she was given the more expensive of the options without notifying her of the higher cost. The only answer I got was we assumed and thats what the book says. Very unapologetic. Instead of assuming or blaming it on a book, a good idea would be to ask the customer what they want.

Many small businesses cannot figure out a good way to utilize internet technology. This place takes it to a new level in an amazing way. When you need a major repair done, you will get the most incredibly detailed status report with a link texted to your phone that contains tons of photos of the problem, detailed information about it, and the proposed solutions. They were able to make a last minute appointment for my car, kept me informed of the status of the inspection and repairs every step of the way (all with detailed pictures of my car included) and finished the work in a timely manner for a reasonable price. I will definitely be using them again for all future car repairs, I am very pleased with the whole experience!

I first used Cooper Lake Automotive out of convenience. Luckily, my car broke down nearby. I say luckily because not only did they do a fantastic repair, but it was done in a timely fashion! The quote given to me was fair and to my surprise, upon pickup, I was told that the repair was actually 20% less! We had to wait an entire week to even be seen by them, which ordinarily we would have gone somewhere else but they had done previous work for us and we were having the same issue. They scheduled us on a Friday morning 9am only to call us at the end of the day to say it was another issue and we needed a part thy dont have.Fast forward to Monday Morning, we call and they say the part still isnt in, but its on the way and will arrive at a time they dont know and they dont know when the car will be done besides end of day which could also be 7 in the evening . But no idea of when. We ask can diagnostic fee be waived since at this point we have to pick up vehicle and take it somewhere where the part is on hand and thy can provide an estimate time for work being done. He was unwilling to waive at all, which is fine but they werent even apologetic about the inconvenience. Instead I received a lesson on how much it would cost to carry parts and how thats expensive and too bad they couldnt get us in days sooner they were busy, and providing time frames to customers is not something they provide other than a day. No apology, no sorry for the inconvenience, no we appreciate the fact we spent almost a thousand dollars last time you were here and sorry we couldnt come to a solution for you guys this time. Nope.... customer service is a dying art.:update in response to owners response.-- no one ever apologized in our conversation... many things were explained none of which consisted of an apology. On the contrary, there was absolutely no empathy given to our situation only a defense to your standpoint. Then I was even advised I wouldnt be able to take my car anywhere and get it fixed faster. We picked our car up at 9am took it to another place and had it back to us by 11am. But thats additional minutiae...point is I never got so much as a simple apology from anyone at any point. Simply untrue, no need to be apologetic in this public forum attempting to demonstrate customer service skills you failed to display in the actual situation of conflict.

Called the day prior to get an appointment. They were very nice over the phone. I asked for an emmisions and oil change and asked what times were available. She said no need anytime before 530 is fine. I asked again emphasizing that we are teachers and we wouldnt be able to make it before 5. She said it would be fine and they would get it done for us with the appointment. Next day we show up at 5 and they act like we were idiots and said they wouldnt have time to do it regardless of appointment. Wasted our time.

The staff is friendly, its easy to make appointments and the turnaround time for getting your car fixed is quick. Im always looking for businesses that I can trust, especially when it comes to costly repairs. Cooper Lake Automotive is thorough in their inspections and fair in their pricing. They never tried to upsell me on things I didnt need and they also told me which repairs could be postponed. Even after you drop off your car, they keep you posted with pictures and reports so you can see exactly what their mechanics are diagnosing on your car. I highly recommend them.

They diagnosed my 24 year old car the same day it came in, and provided me a solution and cost quickly. This was the second place i took it, Hardy Chevrolet was no help, they could not even find the issue (still charged me for diagnosis, even after i protested) , so i took it here and they quickly figured out the problem. I elected to repair the car and im glad i did. It runs really good and smooth.I recommend this shop for sure.

My wife and I have been trusting Cooper Lake with our vehicles for about six years now. We heard of them through a recommendation from a friend (usually a good start), and I havent looked back since. Both of our vehicles are well over 200,000 miles, so its important to me that I trust the people working on them, and Cooper Lake has worked hard to earn that trust from me.Car repairs are always going to be expensive, and thats just life. At least with this shop, I know they are attentive to the details and have a great staff, so Ive never had to bring a vehicle back to re-fix an issue.I always change the oil on my truck, but these folks handle my wifes van. I know that she will be treated respectfully there and not always get the up-sell on a cabin air filter or new wipers or whatever people do at these other shops where you get the oil change cheaper. To me, knowing she wont be harassed is worth the extra money for the oil change.

When you go in for a full vehicle diagnostic test they do a basic test with no real effortAnd will charge you a diagnostic fee for every other small item you have an issue withCharged me 60 dollars to install a battery instead of just letting me know that was the problem90% of the time they will say the problem is your batteryThe problem ended up not even being the battery but the engine was damagedA rod was loose inside of the engine and they didnt even check for it even though the engine was knocking super loudTold me that my vehicle was okayThey dont test drive your vehicle before they give it back to youStalled out on me on the way homeThey were almost $2000 more than the dealership for an engine replaceShould have learned my lesson when I took my other car there over 2 years ago and had the same experience (however this vehicle didnt have a blown engine)It was the distributor and they charged me for 3 diagnostic test and never caught on that the distributor was the problemThen asked me to pay for another diagnostic when i expressed that I had a leak somewhere as wellThats like if i bought hundreds of dollars worth of liquor and they charged me for the iceIf you have money and time to spare they will probably eventually get it right if your harass them constantly. Not what Im interested in, when having my car serviced. And theyre not that inexpensive 0

Ive been a customer for over 10 years now and they keep our cars running well well past their normal useful lives. Last year, my wifes car had a bolt break off in the engine, and they were able to get the bolt out. Had they not been able to get it out, we were looking at replacing the engine. I am very glad they took the time to get the bolt out right. I believe many auto shops would have told us we needed a new engine without trying to get the bolt out.

I have used Cooper Lake Automotive for the past 2 years and they have always been accommodating. I will call them for an oil change and can typically get in within 2 days. Other times I have called with emergency repairs and I can get right in. They are all very good sports about emergencies. They dont try to oversell on things i dont need, but be sure to let me know anythings that are critical to the function and safety of my car like, you need to get new tires now. Thank you for being a there for me when i have needed you.

Unapologetic for POOR service. I went to Cooper Lake on Saturday 02/24/18 for rear brake pads - My service totaled $233. Arrived at 9:00 and the work wasnt complete until after closing! (1:15). The tech claimed to have problems with rust. I find it hard to believe that it takes over 4 HOURS for brakes! The owner was contacted regarding the ridiculous wait time, but apparently he doesnt care about customer retention. As a side note, I asked for Gary who I have always dealt with (hes honest & detailed). I was told that Gary was let go some time ago. When good employees are fired and prices skyrocket, its a sign of greed! Take your business elsewhere - Its not the same shop anymore.

Edited: We have had an extremely disappointing experience here. In interest of fairness and transparency I am editing to announce that the charge for the quote is being refunded and we were contacted by management with an attempt at an apology and solution, though management could have certainly been more empathetic and less accusatory. He seemed frustrated and primarily wanted this review removed, but did also seem genuinely concerned about the current safety of our vehicle which we appreciated.We had $700 of work done on our car and the problem was not fixed. I want to be clear that we requested work based on the diagnoses of another mechanic, and chose to come to Cooper Lake for the convenience of location - Cooper Lake did not originally diagnose the issue. I brought it back to find out what else needs to be done and get a quote and they want $400 for two new tires - $130 each - thats $260 - they want $400. I was planning on bringing it back to them at the end of the week for that work despite my confusion on the mystery price. We go to pick up the car and they want to charge $54 just to have given us the quote. What?! Have yall been to any other mechanic ever? I was not told there would be a charge when I called and discussed that morning, and again, not told there would be a charge when I dropped off and re-discussed. I was just told now my guys dont work for free - theyre not working for free. You were paid $700 for a job that didnt solve a problem, and until now I was open to continuing with more work based on the fact that that problem was not diagnosed originally by Cooper Lake.In the last several years Ive had other poor experiences including 2 different vehicles sitting for extended periods of time without ever being looked at or started by the agreed upon pick up date. Ive had two other friends express issues along the same line.Again we appreciate managements attempt at reaching a solution - despite how that attempt seemed only to be motivated by our extreme frustration and negative review. We will not be returning for any additional services including any possible solution to this particular problem. Its just not worth the conflict.

Ive only been going there 25 years. We needed oil change and brakes on our Saab convertible. They got everything done quickly and well, at a good value. Ive never had the experience of pumping the problems for the car. If there is a real problem, they will let you know. If all is good, ditto.
