New to town and can I say...best in town! I worked as an executive assistant for a private medical practice with exceptionally high standards and you can tell when you walk into another practice with those same high standards - they got em and you can tell! Callie, my hygienist, was the oh so perfect mix of being gentle yet aggressive to thoroughly clean my teeth - very skilled indeed! The dentists - amazing! Husband goes here also and has had many filling replacements and permanent crowns and was stunned at how professional and skilled the dentists are. Would never go anywhere else!

SWD is a great place to go to. Everyone is very friendly and great to deal with. Dr. Hartmann is the only one I have dealt with and I highly recommend her. She is very informative, helpful, and super nice.

The dental work is fine, but most of the staff Ive encountered is rude, especially when paying for an appointment. I also tried to make an emergency appointment to fix a broken crown that was causing me extreme pain and just told me to wait a week until my permanent crown was ready. Dr. Tyson does decent enough work, but he frequently seems like he doesnt want to do his job; he missed two obvious cavities I had, told me he couldnt do anything about stained fillings (which my new dentist took care of in minutes), and disregarded me when I inquired about a mouth guard for grinding. Im glad my other dentist is back open. I dont think Ill be returning to this one.

Customer service was top notch! Front desk helped customers in a timely manner even during a pandemic. Brought my daughter here because I saw what I assumed was an abscess on her gum. They got us in first thing and we’re able to see her. Unfortunately they were not able to do what was needed due to not using sedatives in their office. However the dentist we saw was willing to do what he could to fix her problem while also thinking about her well-being. They were kind and gracious and I greatly appreciated it even though we weren’t able to remove the whole tooth.

Dr. Ellenbecker is great. The staff here is amazing, every time I come in they do such an excellent job cleaning my teeth, being easy going/friendly while also promptly completing the service, and the office is very clean/tidy. I highly recommend South Western Dental, I have never had anything besides a great experience there...which is saying something for going to the dentist!

I’ve always had a great experience at Southwest Dental. I hardly have to sit and wait when I arrive and the scheduling process for next visit is very quick. My dental hygienist, Dorinda is also incredible. She is very gentle and gives me tips on how to floss so it doesn’t hurt as much. They are also very upfront on what insurance will and will not cover so there are no surprises.

Cindy is the best Hygienist by far. Ive been a patient at SWD since they were in that tiny building down by 41st street. Always the best and on time.

I scheduled a second opinion with Dr. Tyson Ellenbecker for cavities, because another dentist I had seen told me I had 4 of them and wanted me to pay $500 for all four after my insurance. Dr. Tyson saved me $440 because he said I actually only had one. He filled it in 10 minutes and I was good to go. Excellent work! Second opinions are so important, and I’m so glad I got a good one!

South Western Dental came highly recommended when I moved to Sioux Falls in 1996 and I have been a patient ever since. All of the dentists I’ve seen have been great, and my current dentist, Dr. Alicia Hansen, is outstanding. She spends a lot time with you in exams, is very knowledgeable and friendly, and gentle when filling cavities. The hygienists are top notch, too—exceptionally thorough, caring, and always make sure you are comfortable. I actually look forward going to the dentist!

This was my 1st visit at a new dentist. I called for an appointment to get a chipped tooth repaired. I was able to get in the following day. I did not have to wait more than 2 minutes before being called back. The assistant took an exray and within 3 minutes the Dentist was there. After a brief introduction, Dr Jon went right to work and was able to repair my tooth right now! I walked in the office at 3:50 and my 4:15 I was walking out of the office!! They worked very good with my Dental insurance also! I was very pleased with their prompt and professional service!! 10 out of 10 stars! Great job to all staff at South Western Dental!!!

Amazing Dental Office. They were able to squeeze me in last minute for an emergency before the weekend. Even though Ive never been there before.

Ive only had two experiences here so far over the year, but each time I can say it was enjoyable. First, while it may seem a small thing, they give you tinted glasses to avoid the light being shined in your eyes. While this seems so inconsequential, why hasnt any other dental office Ive been to done this? It really stresses how much they care about your comfort. Second, every question I had concerning the care of my teeth was answered clearly and informatively. Lastly, my hygienist was an excellent conversationalist. A million kudos to her, because silence always feels so awkward to me (even though I know it doesnt have to). I wish I could book a specific hygienist instead of a specific dentist. They do so much more of the face to face work!

I had a cleaning with Tory and checkup with Dr Hartmann yesterday. It was honestly a FUN, painless and stress-free experience!Tory took time to explain that because I met certain criteria, I qualify to receive 2 additional cleanings and fluoride treatments per year at NO OUT-OF-POCKET COST from my dental insurance with Delta Dental. Dr Hartmann answered some questions I had about Invisalign, too.Talk about value-added service!Tory has a warm, bubbly personality. It was the first time I truly ENJOYED a dentist appointment! Im looking forward to that extra cleaning in 3 months!

This review much past due. I needed an unscheduled appointment to assess concerns I had. Knowing options were limited with the ongoing Covid crisis, the physicians and staff at South Western Dental reviewed my needs and brought me into the clinic within an hour. I have been with this Clinic for 18 years now and they never are alway professional, kind and knowledgeable. Thank you so much everyone.

Reality check here. I would only give them an average score. As far as I know the dental work is fine. Other aspects of the operation really bug me. 1) not getting the same information from different staff members. Right hand doesnt seem to know what the left one is doing. But Ive run into that at other dentists, so I guess this is pretty average. 2) the endless litany of how are you going to pay for this? Once your account is set up, why do they have to ask repeatedly? You may be a walking zombie after a session in the chair, but there is always this last hurdle before you can leave. Ive run into it at other dentists, so just average here too.

It has been over 15 years since Ive been to a dentist, so I was really nervous for my appointment. The staff were very friendly and didnt make me feel terrible for not getting my teeth cared for properly over the past years. I did end up with a cavity, but they were encouraging with the process of getting a filling. It was a wonderful experience and although Im not looking forward to my next visit, I do feel confident in the care I will be getting. Since it had been so long and I only had 1 cavity I felt like I deserved a 5 star review along with them!

This is an excellent dental practice. They are on time, keep you posted, and let you know what they are doing as they do it. They do their best to work with your schedule and are flexible with appointments. The hygienists and Dr. Berger share images and information, and explain the procedure as it is done. I think this is a very good practice.

Ive been driving up to my longtime dentist in Watertown for years, but finally decided to go to my husbands dentist after the drive started becoming a bit much, especially in the winter months. He loved this place, so I decided to give it a try, although I was used to private practicioners. Despite that, I never felt uncared for or uncomfortable in my visit there. I admitted that I was overdue for a cleaning, but they never shamed me and instead told me that I had great-looking teeth. They even give you sunglasses so that the light doesnt glare into your eyes! Both my cleaner and the dentist were awesome, and I plan to make them my regular dental place.

Fast excellent service. Great atmosphere. My Dr was quietly singing and humming to the back ground music while working on my teeth. Shes pretty good singer....... The dental assistant that does my cleaning is the greatest ever. Thanks to all.

Ive always been treated well here! The hygienists are friendly and thorough. All the other staff members are friendly and helpful as well. My husband and I needed more info to make a big decision for his dental care and Dr. Burgers was more than willing to go over potential outcomes, cost, etc. and answer any of our questions. I really appreciated the time he spent with us so we were comfortable making an informed decision.
