Bought a used vehicle and for the first time bought an after market warranty. Jims new exactly how to run the warranty and handled all the processing for me, making the experience one of the easiest issues I ever had to deal with. Along the way they kept me updated on the inspection process, parts received, completed repairs and taken care of the whole process in the quickest time possible, especially during this time still connected with the pandemic and having to find the parts. I got to say that I’ve never left a review for a car repair shop before. This place is different. Julius is a very friendly person who makes you not feel stupid when you can’t really explain your car issue in mechanical terms. I thought that I was going to need to replace my transmission which is always a scary thing. Julius found out that there was a recall and he explained it all to me and I was able to get it repaired from the dealership. So it could’ve been what we all fear, someone replacing something that doesn’t need to be replaced. Not here though. In fact I just dropped off my sons car to this shop and I have no fear regardless of what needs to be repaired. So definitely call Jim’s transmission if you think you have transmission issues. Julius is the only mechanic that I would tell people is “My Mechanic” And I’m sure I would say the same about anyone else that works there.

Brought my sons van in because it was not running properly and the check engine light came on. I had previously taken it to another garage, but they did not do transmission work. I spoke to Julius and he informed me that everything with the transmission checked out okay. He also had had shop personnel fix a couple of loose items located underneath the van. They went above and beyond with the care of the van and it is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I was told my pickup had a main seal leak by a mechanic. Decided have Jims perform the job. Delivered my pickup and was informed a day later that it may not be a main seal and to try a cheaper route first. They easily could have just put in a new main seal which costs quite a bit of money and I never would have known. Instead they informed me it looked like my valve covers were leaking. I cant ask for much more from a company, honesty, and GREAT customer service!!!!! To bad I can only give 5/5 stars or i would give 10!

Julius at Jim’s was awesome to work with! He was great at explaining the process - they diagnosed my problem the same day I brought my vehicle in. He provided me a detailed quote. I had to have my transmission rebuilt and they had it completed within 3 days and I am back on the road!!

This place treated my husband and I VERY well. We live in Brookings SD and had to drive all the way to Sioux Falls to replace the entire transmission in my car. This is the only car we have so we were stuck in Sioux Falls until we could find a ride back. The mechanic here graciously offered to drive us ALL THE WAY back to Brookings free of charge!!! Awesome customer service, and my car was done by the time they said it was going to be done, no delays or frustrations. Highly recommend this place!!!

I own a 2012 Ford Focus and the transmission light came on and the car would not go into gear. I called Jims and he gave me all the info I needed to get the car repaired UNDER Warranty! He informed me on how/what I should do. He saved me thousands of dollars!

This is the second time I have used Jims Transmission. The reason I went back again is simply because of the way I was treated the first time. I really appreciated the service/attention we were given. Jim was very straightforward on what needed to be done on our car, and even went one step further to tell us whether or not the repair would be worth it. His integrity and honesty are very clear to me as a customer, and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back here with any other issues I have.

I went in to ask what a noise might be in my Tundras drive train and ask about getting the transmission and transfer case serviced. I had no idea they would even be able to get to me as quickly as they did. Dropped it off just before noon and got it back by 4:30 the same day. They did find the noise and called me to let me know, and had a nice simple solution for it. These guys are great, friendly and the cost was actually reasonable. Might just be taking my sweet 76 Comet down there for service next time. BTW Ladies, THIS is the shop to go to for repairs, they dont take advantage of you because you are female and probably dont have any idea what your vehicles problem might be. THANK YOU JIMS!!!!

Mark was incredibly help with issues regarding a leak we had on my husbands diesel, diagnosing the issue and having it fixed within 48hrs. Have never done a review before, but these guys were so great, I just had to. I was getting nothing but the run-around from other service centers. Jims Transmission was very quick to get my vehicle in and have a look. The technicians were friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. The turn-around time to get my vehicle back was just a few days when the other service centers were telling me it would takes weeks. And when it came time to pay the bill, there were no surprises, no hidden fees. Just an honest repair bill for an honest repair job. This shop is helpful and knowledgeable. I asked for a diagnostic which is normally $49. My car & trailer were both stuck in front of their shop for the weekend after barely making it there on Friday at closing. I had driven for 3 days from NY. I was luckily able to purchase a replacement vehicle after 2 days. The shop was sympathetic to my plight in a far away city. They waived the charge, and wished me well.

I want to thank Phil, the manager who answered my call when I had an issue with an engine light code that kept returning after Id gone to another shop that was less than helpful trying to find the solution. He was able to research the issue and discovered that it was still under warranty from the manufacturer and I was ableto get the right repair to be paid for by dodge. This saved me time & money, not to mention frustration! I highly recommend Jims transmission to anyone who needs to get the right solution & not get the run around when looking for answers to your cars problems!

My cars transmission went out and I initially had it towed somewhere else. A couple days later I called here and talked to Mark. He was very nice and helpful and even had someone tow my car to their shop. Basically they rebuilt my transmission along with replacing some other parts that needed replaced for about the same price as the first shop. Difference being the first shops quote was for a salvage transmission and not including all of the other parts I needed replaced. In a nutshell they are a very friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to work with shop. Im glad I took my car and my money here and will definitely refer people here in the future.

My transmission was slipping, I brought it to a transmission place in Tea and they told me it was totaled and needed a new transmission. Over $4,000 for a new one. I called Jims and they looked at my car and instantly knew the problem. It was simply a bolt that was broken and caused leaking into my CV shaft. They replaced both front CV shafts and flushed my transmission and put a new bolt on. Rotated my tires and did an oil change all for less than $1,000. These guys are AMAZING!!! Best mechanic I’ve found in the Sioux Falls area. Honest! Hardworking! Money saving!!!! They will not rip you off like every other place in this town!!! They saved me $3,300!!!! Seriously if you have ANY problem in your car bring it here. They will take good care of you! Thank you Jims Transmission! You guys are life savers!!!! God bless these guys!!

I was quoted 2 different prices from 2 different shops. At Jim’s I saved $1000 I really didn’t need much work done to my transmission and could’ve done it myself but by time I bought the tools to do it it was cheaper to have them fix my problem. They did it fast and a great job so happy with them.

Brought our vehicle in with a leaking transfer case and they looked at it & filled it with oil but then asked why we werent at Ford since it should be covered by warranty. We knew we were outside the 3yr/36k mile warranty, but didnt realize there was an additional power train warranty period that we were still in. While on a cross-country road trip, my sister’s car started acting up. After taking it to a local Nissan Dealership where she was told diagnosis alone would cost $500 and that the vehicle almost certainly had a failing transmission, we decided to take it for a second opinion. She went to Jim’s Transmission and spoke with Phil, telling him she feared her transmission was failing.Phil had the car checked out thoroughly and came back to give her the amazing news that there was nothing serious wrong with the car, and that the problems she was experiencing was likely due to having put regular gas instead of the high grade required for her car.It’s a welcome surprise when a mechanic is honest enough to not take advantage of a driver from out of town, in particular a female driver who made it clear she knew little about cars, but feared the problem was going to be significant.Based on this experience alone, and even though we may never again cross paths with Jim’s Transmission shop, and Phil who works there, I felt compelled to share this wonderful story about the great experience we had there.These are clearly not only good, honest folks, but also very competent, because the car has behaved perfectly since the mistake with the wrong grade of gas was put in, exactly as Phil advised.5 stars and a whole-hearted endorsement for this shop and their staff!!

Very professional service. true to his word. Real personal experience. Called to inform me of progress and that they came across badly worn ball joints and offered a fair quote on replacing them. Total price was still less than other quotes from other shops for just the clutch replacement. Very happy with the service.

I brought a vehicle down to Jims when the transmission started feeling weak. They were extremely arrogant during the conversation, when explaining to me that nothing was wrong with the transmission. A month later we use the vehicle to drive to the hills for vacation, and sure enough the transmission goes out. The five of us, including small children, get stranded on the side of the interstate. After having it towed all the way home at great expense, we take it back to Jims. Now the technician refuses to diagnose the problem, but offers to buy the vehicle for a couple hundred dollars. These guys should be embarrassed to advertise the way they do. It takes an expert to know? If the entire experience hadnt been so traumatic I would be laughing myself silly over that slogan.

Fixed our trans when another shop had it over 6 months total over three times. They had us up and running in less than a business week! My second trans I brought in only needed a minor repair and they saved me thousands!!

It was a sensor not transmission related. No charge. They could have still charged a diagnostic and I would not have minded.

They couldnt find the transmission issue. Then after it broke down and left us stranded they refused to look at the vehicle. Then a shady mechanic offered to buy the car from my husband, not to scrap it as later claimed, but to fix up himself for profit, clearly taking advantage of someone in a bad spot, that they were at least partialy reaponsible for causing. I want to know how they claim to be experts? Seems like anyone could have not found the problem, then done nothing to make it right, then lied to save themselves embarrassment. Do not use this transmission shop.

Jim’s was fast, friendly, and effective. Vehicle was a 2013 Nissan Versa with a CVT transmission. Had to have the entire transmission replaced and they had it done in less than 5 days. A bit on the expensive side, but that would probably be the case wherever you go for this type of issue, and I would rather pay more and have it fixed right than get a cheaper, half-assed job.
