Very friendly, took us in immediately, and didnt overchaege. They were honest about what we needed, upfront about what could be fixed. We were in and out in under 2 hrs, and paid on the low end of what my online research said it would cost. Very happy and would definitely recommend.

Ive gone to Hunter Automotive for 10+ years now, and Im still wowed by their customer service and mechanical ability. However, what continues to impress me the most day-in and day-out is the fact that Ive been told, on more than one occasion, We can do that repair for you, but truth be told, we dont think its necessary. In a profession where it seems like everyone is out to squeeze customers for every penny possible, Hunter Automotive takes a very different, and refreshing, stance on automotive repair by looking out for whats best for me, not them. As a result, I will continue to go there for all of my car repair needs for the foreseeable future. :)

Discovered these guys after they ran a Groupon ad. Ive been back for every oil change since, and both my cars have been running great. I even called them up once when I thought something might be wrong, and after talking it over with me, they recommended a fix that wouldnt cost me anything at all. I know this might be an odd idea, but I also appreciate that I can talk with the mechanics without every other word being an obscenity. It is important for me to feel comfortable, and I feel that way here. Great prices, great service, great guys.

Ive been bringing my cars to Jim and his team for close to 20 years. Ive never had a bad experience at Hunter automotive. Theyve always gotten my repairs done quickly and at a fair price. I cant say enough good things about these guys!

My car was overheating only while idling, but fine when driving. I called several shops to see when I could have it looked at the soonest, Hunter Auto said they could look at it in two days. I was clear that I needed my vehicle back by 11 AM on that day, and they assured me if I dropped it off the night before that would give them plenty of time to look at it and probably even fix it unless something major was wrong with it. I dropped it off the night before. Shortly after 11am I called and they were just getting to it. I rearranged some things, and picked up my car at about 12:45. They charged me $50 to tell me the fan wasnt working but that was as far as they got. Im angry because they assured me they would have time to look at it but they didnt. I took it to another mechanic a couple days later, and they were able to diagnose problem: the cooling fan relays needed to be replaced. It was fixed for $120. I dont know about their mechanical skills, but Im not happy with how they manage their time, and the predicament it put me in.

As always, Jim and his team went above and beyond to keep our family on the road and safe. I appreciate the gang at Hunter Auto looking out for us. Weve been customers for years and highly recommend them for their service and helpfulness.

I really can’t begin to tell everyone how appreciative I am for Jim and the crew here at Hunter Automotive. For many reasons I drive a 90’ GMC with ~210k on it, the vehicle began to act up and not work. Currently, I’m unable to afford an upgrade. Jim was sensitive to this issue and worked tirelessly to find the underlying cause instead of just putting new parts on it until I had a huge bill. Thank you!

I have only personally used Hunter Auto for mechanical issues a total of two times in the past few years. The first time was during the fall/winter of 2015, I believe. I brought my 02 Mercury Sable in for diagnostics as my vehicle required turning over multiple times before starting, and was also experiencing issues with the electrical accessories, such as the dash lights dimming when the power window buttons were engaged. They ran diagnostics and determined that the battery was faulty. They contacted me to inform me of this issue and did not charge me for this service. I was more than grateful, as funding was short and the new battery cost me a good $70 bucks.I have taken my vehicle to them today (the second time Ive used their service) for two reasons: one, my car was in dire need of new spark plugs/wires, and two, the RPMs drop considerably when the AC/defrost/heat is engaged and the car is in park. This causes the battery light to flash on briefly before the RPMs jump back up and the car runs smooth for another few seconds until the cycle happens again. They changed my spark plugs/wires and attempted to replicate the RPM issue I was experiencing, however found themselves unable to. I am hoping for the best and do not hold them accountable given that they tried. They also drew attention to another issue with my breather hose, which I am thankful for. All in all, I express great faith in their abilities to fix any known issues and their honesty in admitting when an issue is outside of their ability to address.They maintain great contact with customers regarding identified issues and I know many people personally who have used and advocated their service. Strongly recommend to anyone in the Sioux Falls and surrounding areas looking for a reputable and honest mechanic.

Took My 98 chevy in for minor brake and front end work,and timing set. after 5 days I was charged $1053.00. Truck was exactly in same driving order as before. When I Called them on it , I was told they ran out of time!!! Two days later had to have them tow me from exit 6 on 229. they charged me240.00 for towing ,a rotor button and distributor cap On my way home in pouring rain truck started skipping bad. A complete disaster!!!Got home checked wiring and it was wrong!!! Pulled distributor and found a screw for rotor cap inside distributor had chewed away cap!!! Why would someone send you back out in something you paid to have fixed that isnt right? UNLESS YOU HAVE $ $$$TO BURN NO WAY WOULD I EVER RECOMMEND THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!

Great family auto shop. Called Hunter about my Toyota on late Friday afternoon. He got me in right away to look it over and let me know what was wrong and estimated that it would take till Wednesday. I was pleasently suprised when he had it done Monday!

I searched on the web for a repair shop that works on volvos and this site came up. I went to the website and sure enough they have a section for volvo and claims they do repairs on tehm. I happily called hoping to have my car towed and fixed because it wouldnt start. To my surprise the guy that answered was rude and said they didnt really work on volvo and probably wouldnt be able to fix it. Why would you claim to repair volvos and other european cars if when an emergency comes up you cant fix it!!!!!!!! Change your website. Thanks.
