Went for a smog test. Made an appointment, they were very friendly and professional. Tech Kevin was very helpful, did the smog test. Car didnt pass, but not his fault( NOX was high, I later cleaned out the egr passage at the throttle body, and it passed.) PLEASE note, wrights will smog test older cars like my 1990s car, BUT WILL NOT DO SMOG REPAIRS ON THEM!-- That was part of why I went there-- so if car needed work to pass smog, they could do it- no luck there...I might humbly suggest they let people know this at the time they got the year and make of my car while arranging my appointment...BUT.. HERES A BIG ITEM TO BE AWARE OF::;Even if you have an appointment YOU WILL NOT HAVE YOUR SMOG DONE RIGHT AS YOU COME IN WITH THE CAR NICE AND WARMED UP!!!Just be aware that you must do their paperwork (over in the separate office area in the back of the building) first. This is as it should be I suppose. But I was still very surprised by this.... especially when I made appointment ahead of time, AND called right before I set out to go on nice long drive before going there-- Arrived and there was big truck parked on top of the smog test roller area AND another truck behind that one! It looked like the office had not even told Kevin that there was a car coming in for a smog with an appointment. On next test I came by, did paperwork, let the tech know I would be soon coming back to smog car after I took it for the all important warm up drive!I Like Wrights Automotive!!!....... (now that I know the procedure!)

I had my smog check done here 2021. It was fine. Business keeps so clean it smells like a doctors office 《which is NOT BAD》. People are nice but not too nice. Kudos to Wrights Automotive Service for having a SAFE, comfortable, waiting area . No problems at Wrights Automotive Service.

Arranged for a catalytic converter cover to be installed a week out and paid a 50% deposit by phone. Dropped car off on appointed day and returned a few hours later and everything was good. Ive now driven 500 miles since the installation and it remains quiet. Quality trouble free work.

Victor and his team at Wrights automotive service are absolutely amazing. They do a great job, reasonably priced , they explain their recommendations for your vehicle thoroughly and give you an estimate so that you know what the cost will look like. They’re very helpful and kind people. I’m very glad that I take my cars to them for repairs as well as general maintenance.

They went through and checked the van after the oil change, and gave us prioritized feedback according to most urgent needs. I love that they send an email, so I dont have to worry about losing a printout of the details. They are kind and efficient.

I had my ignition replaced on my truck. What I liked was the diagnostic and the information they gave me about the entire truck. It is sent to you via messaging with photos and very detailed information about what is good, needs attention and/or needs immediate attention.You know how in the past the shop would tell you whats wrong but, you dont have photos, you cant see whats wrong. With this shop thats over. I had to show people. People say in the neighborhood the shop is expensive but they do great work and I cant argue with that. I would use them if I needed an honest opinion on the work needed to be done on my vehicles.

Cost more than the dealership to do routine maintenance and replace diesel fuel filters. Won’t be going back. Service was same day. The bottom reference of Lyft or loaner was not mentioned or offered so that is good to know now. Service was friendly and done same day but for a filter change if schedule most places would be done same day as well. My review is strictly off of price and up charge on parts. The ram dealer in Fremont hasn’t been rude to me in my experience and their technicians are factory trained as well. While yes you were local and convenient that convenience definitely comes at a cost. The 3 yr/ 36,000 mile warranty might be great on larger scopes of work but small routine maintenance like a filter change that helps very little. As a small business I hope you have continued success but as a customer you offered nothing to me that would make me wish to return. Compare it to this “Safeway select” soda (you guys) cost more than the Coca Cola (the dealership in this case) which one would you rather buy.

He was very helpful describing the needs and options available. Appreciate talking to one that is knowledgeable about my car in a way I can understand and make informed decisions. Plan to return in due time.

I paid diagnostics fee and they couldn’t find the actual reason why I have check engine light. I went to another workshop and they got it find under 2hours. I will advise Wright to stick to what you specialize and stop ripping customers off.

I took my vehicle to them for a diagnostic of why it would not start. I been there before and fairly happy. After findibg the issue and quoting me price i was unable to continue with the repair due to the high figure. It was well above my budget. Currently surviving on a teachers salary did not allow me any wiggle room in my budget. After searching a few more shops that are AAA preferred i found that all others were at least half or a bit more than half the price. I searched the cost of parts and realized that about 90% of the cost at this shop is labor. I love the repost they send. It was worth the $200 they charged because now i know what future issues i will have. Unfortunately i am unable to afford the high cost at this shop and will choose a shop that falls within my budget. If you are able to afford a more upscale mechanic then by all means this is a place for you. Basex on my past experience it was great. With their report and friendly staff you will be sastified. For me I am still looking to find a permanent shop that falls in line with my budget.

The dealership said it would be 4-6 weeks to get an appointment and I was worried because my check engine light was on, so I stopped at Wrights on the way home. They took my car in immediately and began the diagnosis. They were courteous and efficient and the final bill was consistent with the estimate. I thought I needed a brake job, but they told me I had moisture in the brake fluid. When I drove my car home, I was so amazed with the performance that I was going to call and thank them for the great service. Instead I am putting it in writing so others will know.

This guy charges more than the dealership. He wanted like $250 labor to replace a cv joint on a 97 Camry While I had another shop do it for $120. Also thay dont care much about discussing details, just want you make appointment and even charge you for a estimate.What a rip off..

Been here a handful of times. They do quality work and are always up-front and willing to explain. The one issue I have is that they are fairly expensive. If you need one shop that will do it right regardless of cost, they are a great choice.

The work was completed in a timely manner, and done correctly. it was a little expensive but I knew the cost before work was started.

They were able to troubleshoot and repair the primary issue with my truck in one day, and kept it overnight to handle a number of other maintenance issues Id been putting off for a while.I was provided clear, detailed explanations by email of everything they saw, the quotes were reasonable, and they ultimately charged me less than their full quote as the job didnt require everything they originally estimated. My truck was given back to me firing up instantly and with ice-cold AC.From a COVID protection standpoint, the office staff was fully masked, the office door had a clear and prominent masks required sign, and they provided hand sanitizer for customers.Overall, as good of an experience as taking your vehicle to the shop could be.

The customer service was wonderful and everything was explained perfectly and I am sure they would have done an excellent job. However I give 3 stars due to the cost. I was quoted a cost of $1270 for a radiator, thermostat, gasket, hose and flush on a 98 Altima. I went to a different shop also AAA certified and their price for the same service was only $430 including labor, needless to say I took my car there. Even paying $180 for the diagnostic with Wrights my total cost is still half of what Wrights was charging. Nice guys but way too expensive.

As a shop associated with Dorals Auto Repair, Wrights performed the smog check on a car that had been repaired by Doral. The service was almost transparent at my end, except for payment, which was handled professionally by Tiffany, the front office representative. I was very impressed.

Cant say enough good about this place - a friend recommended it when I had a warning light come on a while back - turns out they just had to flip a switch and it was all better! Could have easily talked me into a more expensive repair, because I dont know a THING about cars, but they were super-honest and helpful, which meant a lot, because we were in a real financial pickle at the time... So of COURSE I went back when I started to have trouble again - this time, it turned out that there was a hole in the radiator! They emailed photos so I could understand what was wrong, and then replaced it and had me back on the road, good as new, in literally 24 hours. That means a lot also - because each day without a car is a real stress on how to get kids to school / me to work / life moving. I would strongly recommend them to anyone who needs something for their car - good service and good PEOPLE.

I am pleased to meet a pleasant and patient staff. Though they were busy they fit in my car and fixed it in a timely manner. I believe there was a misunderstanding on the real problem i was experiencing with my toyota sienna van when i brought it in. i was sold a new battery with the thinking it solved my concern with my vehicle.today, i just talked to david, one of the mechanics, who took note of my concern well and offered to take another look at it and offered to look into the matter for another diagnosis, free of charge, next week.

They had a multipoint diagnostic service and Oil change. They pointed out some issues using green, yellow and red warnings. This helps keep s things under control and repairs are cheaper when caught early.

My wife and I have been taking our cars to Wrights for a good number of years and have always found them to be the best auto repair place weve ever experienced. They always make very clear to us what services we need, what the price will be, what we can do to prevent future problems, and theyre very accommodating regarding our time and logistics. You couldnt ask for a car repair shop with a more knowledgeable staff or friendlier people. Turns out the part that breaks regularly, and was broken again, was still under warranty. I didnt remember, because it was the ninety-eleventh time it needed replacing, but Wrights did. So the new part AND the labor to install it was free.Yes, Wrights labor is a little more expensive than others. Thats because their people are experts, and theyre honorable as heck about making sure they do the right job for the right reason. I dont have to worry about my car because Wrights does.

I went in and got a quote on some work and was told that the part was gonna be over 900 dollars BUT when I contacted Toyota for the part I was told that they were previously contacted by the shop and the part was about 375 to a wholesale party like an automotive repair shop or about 500 dollars to a private party like myself! So Im trying to figure out where the 200 to 300 percent mark up on the part comes from. Thats just absolutely ripping people off. When I called the person could not even come close to explaining this to me. I FEEL REALLY SORRY FOR THE LITTLE OLD LADY IN FRONT OF ME THAT HAD WORK DONE BECAUSE SHE PROBABILITY PAID 2 TO 3 TIMES WHAT SHE SHOULD OF PAID FOR THE REPAIR!!! Still waiting for the owner to contact me and explain to me this nonsense

There is a difference between a shop being expensive for the sake of quality and then theres being overly expensive for the sake of a rip off. Ive been at jobs and have friends at jobs that play the rip off game so I know how its played. This is lengthy, but a lot went wrong so at least read some of this to save yourself from a crooked business.I came in for the first time after receiving a flyer in the mail some months back and I saw that the shop has a 5 star rating on Yelp (although if I wouldve combed through and read the 1 star reviews I wouldve avoided going.) I needed an oil change, a complete inspection and to have my A/C checked out.First thing that they did that is clearly wrong was they did the jobs WITHOUT quoting me a price first! Even Big O Tires has a policy in place to do this! I guess its partially my fault for not asking but Im not used to having to ask and I shouldve have to. But I can see why they didnt tell communicate the cost and you will too.The second thing that was clearly wrong is the cost of my transmission flush: $497.84! When I heard this, I pointed out that a quick internet search said that a flush could be up to $250. This was double. The man helping me, Victor, blinked a lot (which is something liars do) as he went into his wordy explanations. He said there is a difference between a change and a flush. I said, I know the difference and I looked up FLUSH costs. He then said the cost was so high due to the transmission fluid being $300 because its a special for Toyotas. Well, I called a Toyota parts department and asked the price for transmission fluid for a 2009 Corolla for a guy off the street. He said $10.49 per quart. Transmission flushes can take up to 16 quarts to complete so after doing the math plus tax, the price is nowhere NEAR $300 and this is calculating the worst case scenario. The dealership wouldve done my flush for $238 total! I kept complaining about the price and nothing was being done until I said, isnt there anything you can do? He gave me a hundred dollars off and acted like it was a hush-hush good deal. Cmon man, do I really look that stupid?Next is the extremely questionable scenario involving my A/C. First of all, they charged $180 just to see what was wrong (well kind of found what was wrong, more on that later). For a cost comparison, I called Auto Doctor, another local mechanic on the pricey end with a good reputation. They quoted me $130, $50 less! Anyways, they did the diagnosis and said that someone has added a quick fix kit and the whole A/C system was compromised. He said it would cost $4,000 something to replace!The only problem is Id only taken it to the dealership and never had A/C problems before. I called the dealership and there was no record of A/C repairs so was darn near impossible that quick fix has been added.Once I said there was no way Id ever pay $4000 for a new A/C, he started backtracking on the price. He said, thats worse case scenario and once we open it up, we may see that we dont need to replace everything. Open it up? Isnt that what I paid $180 for??Finally, I said since I cant afford a $4000 job, I guess Ill have to resort to a quick fix kit. Can you recommend one? Victor said he would ask his mechanic the next day and call me. He said I was first on the list. Can you guess what happens next? Yup, he NEVER CALLED.Maybe the fact that I came in wearing my work clothes (polo and khakis) made them think I was some hot shot business man or tech worker with money to blow and no time to do research, but they were sadly mistaken.Never have I felt so taken advantage of by a business in my life!Note: the reply below doesnt address the biggest red flags. NOT telling me the cost before doing the job, overcharging GROSSLY for fluid and NOT returning my call when they said Id be first thing. Please explain that sir

Great experience. I recently moved to San Leandro and needed to find someone to perform a smog check on my ‘04 Subaru Forester. The first shop I went to couldn’t, but referred me here. From the minute I stepped through the door I was impressed by their customer service and professionalism. When my car was having problems today I didn’t think twice but came right back. This is a shop where I don’t feel that I have to be worried about being upsold, they are only going to tell me what actually need to be done. I highly recommend them!

Im currently getting my transmission serviced and so far i have to say that overall im glad i made the choice of going to wrights automotive cause they have kept me well informed about every step of the process involved in getting me back out on the road. From when i talked with them on the phone to when i dropped my car off. Every question i asked was answered with every possible variable in mind and any and all concerns i may have had put to rest... all i have to say is keep up the good work. Oh.not to mention when the estimate for the work that needed to be done compared to other shops in the area they beat the rest hands down.... if i happen to have any other problems i will be definitely going to wrights automotive...
