A great hotel near the temple square in downtown Salt Lake City. Easy free parking in a garage next door, although the parking spaces are a bit small. The rooms were clean. The view from the hotel is nice. A special shout-out to Jordan, who kindly helped us with the luggage and answered our questions. He even gave us some cold water for the road when we left.

Positive: The location was great. Near city creek shopping & in a very walkable downtown area. Negative: Room was dated, smelled like cigarette smoke & very musty. Ceiling had a very pronounced crack from 1 end all the way to the other end. Walls were paper thin. Floors were dirty. Metal piece of the bath popped off shooting black mold everywhere. Bugs.

Great hotel! Grateful for them accommodating my request including a personal scale :-) I have an asked them to put it on my bill so I can keep it but they did not charge me. The sad part is the sauna and the pool and a lounge were all shut down throughout the whole month of August 2021 I hope they will find the stuff to operate those important facilities. Zara , Katia at breakfast restaurant service for a wonderful and all this went above and beyond! Xiau in housekeeping was super attentive and everyone else as well. Thank you front desk :)

Make sure you read what this hotel includes, there was a picture of a pool but there was no pool when we got there. After a long hot day of Lacrosse tournament my kids just wanted to take a dip in the pool with teammates. Also the hotel is very nice inside the lobby but its a different story when you get to your room! We checked other floors but they were the same outdated 90s style. It is pretty cool that its connected to the mall City Creek Center. Thats not what we were there for so it didnt care but we checked it out anyways!

Positive: The staff and manager  are amazing and supportive. I appreciated their kindness and professionalism. Negative: The hotel itself needs lots of renovation¿there is no ventilation in the rooms. My roommate actually got a respiratory infection and we are pretty sure it¿s from sleeping in the non-ventilated room there was mold. The hotel was very understaffed.

My friends and I are staying here for the night and WOW…. the lobby was packed, the line to checkin was massive and the phone was ringing nonstop it seemed. THERE WAS ONLY ONE PERSON WORKING!!! One!!!! This large hotel and they can’t even bother to have extra staff. Management/Marriott should be ASHAMED!!!!! Huge kudos to Ravi for handling it so well. He was polite, helpful and yet somehow still kept a smile on his face during this hell. Is it really that hard to hire extra help or even have a manager come assist?!? Horrible!!!

The lobby was nice and the rooms were clean!! What I didnt like... they have pictures of a swimming pool online but they havent actually had a swimming pool or hot tub for long time, according to hospitality clerk. We were on the fifth floor and you could hear every tiolet flush three rooms down, and hear peoples conversations in the rooms next to you and across the hall. For a Mariott, I guess I was expecting better quality. It felt more like a motel 6 and it was noisy all night due to the location. There were night clubs with bands open until the wee hours of the morning.

We purchased a room with a Balcony through a Priceline and when we got there, they said no more balconies were available but that they would discount our rate. The room was still more expensive than it would have been through Priceline. After calling the desk to tell them we would have gone somewhere else for that rate, magically a room opened up with a Balcony.Besides that, the room was amazing! I would definitely give them a 5 star rating if we hadn’t gone through the trouble at the beginning (oh and also because you still have to pay $20 for parking - it isn’t included in the price of your room). The Starbucks in the lobby is a nice addition too, though the line was very long!

This hotel staff is incredible. Our group of nearly 50 folks is extremely grateful to have found the Marriott Downton City Creek. From our first contact over the phone, management was more than willing to take on our lodging needs. We had a very large group with varying reservation requirements (some staying only one night, some staying four nights, some names hopping on last minute, and some dropping off just before arrival). On top of that, management was willing to help us determine tax-exemption requirements as part of a government event. The nightly rate was very reasonable, especially since it included a delicious breakfast every morning and exclusive access to the conference room the entire weekend. Speaking of breakfast, the quality and quantity exceeded our expectations. Compliments to the chef. It was always ready early, and wasn’t cleared until we were all done. The breakfast staff exhibited excellent customer service and deserve recognition. Every member of our team had plenty to eat for our long days. The chef and breakfast staff set us up for success. Thanks to the hotel team for the flexibility in adding breakfast VERY early on our final morning too. Believe me, our guys and gals needed it. I can’t say thanks enough to the staff for dealing with our constantly changing needs. The front desk staff was even willing to act as a vehicle key valet for all of our shared vehicles. I know they didn’t sign up for that task, so we thank them for helping. I must not forget to mention the clean and comfortable rooms. The hotel is beautiful and the location is perfect for allowing groups to spread out and explore the downtown area. The flexibility of the entire hotel staff - in every aspect of our stay - led to a successful training exercise for our team. We hope to do the same again in the near future. Thank you.

Stayed last light with our family in two rooms. Honest review...the staff is great, rooms were clean, location was excellent. However, the hotel rooms are really dated. I question whether or not this should really be branded as a Marriott. Maybe should be a lower tier Marriott product. Maybe a Fairfield or Courtyard or something that isn’t supposed to be as nice. It’s quite “not fancy”. I’d definitely recommend other hotels downtown if I our like a nicer room.

We stayed here for our trip to SLC. We spent one night on the 12th floor with a view that was over the mall. The room was average, slightly dated albeit quite pleasant. After the 2nd night in Park City we returned to SLC and they upgraded us to the 15th floor with a balcony and a view over the city. The room was remodeled, clean and a shower with a rain shower head and separate wand. The clerks were always pleasant and eager to help. The hotel bar was average. The Salt Stone restaurant had a decent and varied menu with good food. The hotel is within walking distance of all the fun things to do in the downtown and we didnt even take the rental car out once. There is a fee for parking but that was to be expected as all the downtown hotels that we checked charged for parking. I would suggest that a free parking comp would be a nice perk for Titanium status and above customers.Marriott helped to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. When we return, we will definitely consider this location again.

Please take a look at the hotel elevator buttons...they look like they havent been cleaned recently (photo attached). We checked in early evening and there was only one front desk worker and a line with several parties. I have never written a negative review about a Marriott hotel so I’m sad I have to write this today! We got to SLC early and called to see if there was any way we could check in early. The lady at the front desk was pretty snippy with us but let us check in early. When we got in our room is was extremely hot. I told the front desk about it and they sent a guy up to fix it. The man fixing the temperature said our room was reading 98 degrees. He was so so nice and let us change rooms. About the only good thing we have experienced so far. When we got to our new room the water bottle the counter had been opened and drunk out of. We went to get ice we had to go to three different floors to find a working ice machine. You would think they would have the money to fix the AC or provide ful(and sealed) waters when they charge $19 a day for parking and $14 for WiFi. We won’t be coming here again, that’s for sure..

The location at City Creek is great and convenient but beyond that, this hotel leaves a lot to be desired. We stayed here a year ago and weren’t very impressed and decided to give it one more chance. Too bad every time we entered the lobby there were large family groups not wearing masks and clearly being defiant and hotel staff did nothing to address the situation. Terrible location to visit during covid unless youre one of the anti-maskers... Then youd fit right in. Staff is very thoughtful and helpful. While the photos on Yelp appear to show updated rooms....That was not our experience our room has popcorn ceilings, squat ceilings and the decor looks like it came out of the 90s. We have a corner suite as an upgrade the main view is overlooking the Nordstroms roof and theres really nothing impressive about the room other than theres two windows instead of one. Hopped in the tub because I was cold from being outside, back of the tub was slimy like there was soap buildup or cleaner left on there. Special Delivery at Marriott SLC City CreekAll of my special requests that I typically asks yet this time I didn’t and I noticed were in this room:Extra TowelsExtra Firm PillowsPlus....I had perks like on the Concierge Lounge level and a room with a Balcony.I have to thank the Concierge Lounge Bartender, Astra, & Waiter, Evan, for allowing me to order room service in the Concierge Lounge with my dessert since I missed the hot appetizers. This poor bartender, Astra, stayed several minutes after her shift because I had a “chatty-Kathy” (Another Guest - he was awesome though) joined my table and would not stop talking and Astra told us the lounge was closing. She was very nice about me not having to rush to eat so the “chatty-Kathy” took it as a pass to keep talking. I kept apologizing to Astra, she kept saying that it wasn’t a problem and she showed her patience yet I wanted to be fair to her since she was so diligent in her pursuant to get me fed. After 20 additional minutes, I had to jump up on the “chatty-Kathy” because I felt extremely bad for Astra staying so late after her shift (or closing of the lounge). I had to send a special shout out to Astra (and Evan he helped me with the menu and called my order in for me) because Astra worked so hard for me to get dinner that night (Monday night) and then she stayed so late without a bad attitude, just as pleasant as can be to accommodate us.Gabriele made this stay special as well because she prepared a special gift tray which was delivered to my room which truly brightened up my day. Our room had no fridge to even keep a bottle of water cold. We stayed for the weekend, didn’t have maid service ONCE our entire four night stay (because of covid) and when we wanted to add an extra night we got charged almost double because it was a week day. Apparently there is no one in the whole entire company who can change the rate of a room to have given us our same rate we had paid for the last three nights. The person I spoke to the night before assures me there would be someone there in the morning to help me and possibly extend my current rate and when I called in the morning the person at the desk could absolutely not have cared less about helping me out in any way, shape, or form. The room had a nice view but it was super cramped and the thermostat definitely did not work to ever get our room as cold as we wanted. Their response to the club room being closed on the top floor was to put a microwave on a table in the hallway- which I cannot imagine you would use if you have no mini fridge to put food into. We were super unimpressed with this place and would never stay here again.
