Dont go here! The owner Matt baits and switches prices. My wife and I went in to get our sons laptop fixed which kept turning off. Matt told my wife and I that it was a easy fix. He said it had to do with a charging port. After an initial estimate of $110 we agreed to do the work. He called us a few hours later and said that there was an internal problem as well. He told us it would cost us an additional $350 to repair. We gave him the go ahead because my son needed his laptop for school. He told us it would be done the next day. The next day we did not receive a phone call. Stuff happens so we didnt think too much of it. The following day my wife stopped by because she was near the area. Matt was not there and his staff didnt know anything about the laptop. My wife asked the employee to give us a call once Matt was in. We did not receive a phone call that day. The next day we received a phone call from Matt that the laptop was fixed. So I went in to get the laptop when I got there I was told the bill was $975!!!! I told him it should only be $460 and he told us we needed more work. I asked him why he didnt call us first and he told us he did but we didnt answer. So that apparently that is authorization to go ahead. I could have just waited til black Friday if i knew this was going to happen. Dont go here unless you want the owner to decide whats best for your wallet.

The owner harassed me for no reason.I have never done any business with Mat Aspenwall. He went on and on about how I’m ripping people off. He would not leave me alone until I told him I would contact authorities. Just looking at his previous reviews he seems to be a very shady businessman. What kind of business owner goes out of their way to harass someone for selling their graphics card?! That’s ridiculous! If I want to sell my graphics card for X amount of dollars. I should be able to sell my graphics card for X amount of dollars! You have every right not to buy it, this is AMERICA!

The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced from a small / single person business. I am completely amazed this guy is still in business and has the positive reviews he does. Definitely recommend steering clear of this guy!Edit: Just realized the comment posted in response to my review was edited, so I figured Id follow up. The quote I received was not $900, the price I was quoted was $1100. Someone is also trying to get negative reviews removed, dont be a crook and you wont have to deal with the negative reviews!Also wanted to mention, I have been contacted by other people who have had similar and much worse experiences with Mat and Compustars than I did. This is definitely someone you DO NOT want to be doing business with.

This place is one of the more better places that actually care about what they do and put there blood, sweat and tears into everything they do from your average desktop, to what ever u can dream of on a custom build. no matter the challenge Mat and compustars, get the job done. Do not hesitate to call...... most professional experience.

We needed an upgraded desktop, and due to personal referrals, we checked out this place. Mat was professional, very helpful, and built the PC that we wanted and needed and wasnt pushy about add ons at all, which I really appreciated. The computer works great and was a really good price, I would def recommend shopping here for your next PC.

The worst place Ive ever been too. Matt was very disorganized . I left my laptop there and after three weeks he contacted me and said your laptop is fine now, 10 minutes later he called me and said wait, we need to fix something else and you have to pay more, give me one more week. Ok fine. After that he texted me and said youre laptop is ready,so I went to pick it up, and guess what he tried to give me someones laptop and he was very surprised when I said this is not my laptop then he showed me 3 or 4 different laptops trying to guess the correct one. I left very uncomfortable, knowing that someonecould have had a similar experience as mine and could have taken any computer. At the end (1 months later) he contacted me with news that it needed a motherboard and 45 days more ... can you imagine that? I am really disappointed what they are doing.Save your money and time!!!

Compustars of Utah? More like incompetent stars. It is a disaster of a computer repair shop, horrible unprofessional staff, disorganized and incompetent across the board. They left malware on my Toshiba after two weeks at the shop and all my accounts were logged into Hunter Biden’s profiles when I finally got it back. Avoid this place and especially the scuzzy owner, he’s a penny pinching liver-spotted pony soldier if I ever saw one.

First time coming into the shop and was a bit nervous doing so. After talking with Matt for awhile and telling g him what my budget was we were able to get me into a sweet system that was right in my price range. Fast, friendly service made me feel like I was talking and working with an old friend. I will be back that is for sure.

Found the add in Facebook and went to meet him without having any idea what exactly I wanted to pick up, just knew that I needed a desktop.... Matt was amazingly candid on his views and advised me on what would best suit me based on my needs and budget... once we decided on the desktop, he quickly fixed it and I was all set ... everything was seamless and I know I can trust him to go back Incase I want more desktops/laptops or if any upgrades or issues ... It was a decent place. I feel like most computer places like this have an easy time taking advantage of people but if you know what you are looking for and cut to the chase then its fine. I know its just business to try to sell something but I came in there for one thing and I was waiting and kind of given the loop around. It looked like the owner was struggling a little bit with some kind of build. Mat is very knowledgeable and passionate about everything that has to do with computers. We had a great one-on-one talk about my computer needs and budget, and he had a great machine for me (and his computers come with a one-year warranty). He even threw in a few extra accessories to help me get started. It runs smoothly and has been the best PC Ive ever owned. Im very happy with my purchase. Highly recommend.

He is very good at pretending like he’s a blatantly honest dude to get you to trust him, but if you aren’t a computer expert you won’t notice him trying to manipulate you. And he claims he’ll “throw in” all this “free stuff” as a favor, when it’s actually stuff he should be giving you in the first place, he just wants you to think he’s doing you favors. We responded to an ad of his on Facebook, he got the computer all ready for us (took him like 2 hours) and we made sure we’re getting everything we asked for and it was half the storage space but he claimed his ads are “irrelevant” and still wanted the full cost. The dude didn’t even want to give us a monitor or keyboard even though that’s what he advertised. Bottom line, if you aren’t a computer expert, don’t go to him because he will be so manipulative. I have spoken.

The cheapest prices I found on a desktop. Great value, great quality, and the guy was so kind. He even showed me how to add a graphics card to the computer for better performance, and offered to do it for me when I was ready.

I messaged Matt and told him what I wanted and what my budget was. He replied telling me that it was very doable and that he would be glad to help me out... But it would have to wait until Monday (i messaged him on Saturday) because he was working a booth at the Salt lake Gaming Con. I told him that would be no issue and that I would still like to come talk to him. He happily agreed. He ended up building me a rig that night! We were at his shop until 4 in the morning while he worked on it... The whole time he was answering all of my annoying questions. When all was said and done, I ended up with a much better system than I couldve imagined for what I paid. I would hands down recommend this shop to anyone looking for a new PC. Matt will gladly get you taken care of and he will do it without trying to gouge you.

I bought my first gaming PC from him and He was super friendly and very thorough in explaining how the PC all works together (I had no idea at the time about what even went inside a computer).A few months later I started having issues with my graphics card, I explained to him what was going on and he replaced my bad card with something of equal power for completely free! I contacted compustars and asked for a custom build suitable for my budget. Looked to get a high quality system for a fair price. I was more than surprised with the results and it was nice to geek out for a while. Definitely recommend this business for any pc gamer

DO NOT BUY FROM HERE!!!!!!!! The owner Mat is horrible!!! I purchased a PC from him and the motherboard went out a week later, I contacted him and he said he would replace the motherboard for free as it was part of his warranty. I drove 2 hours from my home to drop the PC off at his business. After a week of calling and texting him with no response I decided to drive back down another 2 hours to confront him. To my surprise when I arrived his business had been packed up and cleaned out. I couldnt get ahold of him or track him down, he had taken my PC and the 500 dollars i had paid him for it. Years later i ran across him on Facebook with his new business Compustars, i confronted him and he said to me PCs left with me for more than 30 days are considered forfeit, there Is nothing I can do for you really?!?! I didnt forfeit my PC he left with it and never called me back or responded!! He Is a thief and unprofessional!! DO NOT BUY FROM MAT OR COMPUSTARS!!!! He also had the nerve to say to me if you want a PC now MAYBE Ill give you a deal NO!!!!.....I want you to fix what you messed up Mat!!! What kind of business owner treats customers like that!?! I will be contacting the business bureau about compustars and letting everyone on social media about my experience. Every PC page on fb and elsewhere will have my story on it. Dont be ripped off by Mat and dont support his garbage! Mat will also put on the review that he has had no interaction with this person if they are calling him out on his lies. Would give this company a 0 star if it was possible Mat Aspenwall is horrible .I bought a PC from him for around 450 and the motherboard fried only 2 months after owning it. I called him and he said to bring it to him for a free repair. I took it back to him for repair. Well i am calling, texting, messaging on Facebook for about 2 weeks, no response. So i drove to his companies building only to find out the company was no longer there. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! build your own its extremely easy and you wont have to worry about scummy companies like this one. I lost all my money and my computer, its not worth your time.

I was looking for Print and Post, another business in the same building, but Print and Post was so unprofessional! Claiming they had an actual office set up to help you with your printing needs, but in reality, they were closed (for construction it looked like), and no one one would answer the doorbell or phone.The people over at Compustars saw that I was struggling outside of their suite, and they asked me if I needed any help. I told them I just needed a few papers printed out, and they helped me out, and wouldnt even accept payment! They really saved the day, and were so courteous.They have lots of nice equipment, and a great set up inside their suite. Theyre super genuine, and you can tell that theyre not trying to take advantage of you, they just want to help you out. Next time I need a printer or computer, Im going here!

One of the greatest customer service experiences Ive ever had! Mat went out of his way to answer every so for question I had, I knew nothing coming into my first pc build and he not only helped but educated me based on what I said I was going to be using it for. He came in at an incredible price and even met me at later hours of the night to make sure I had my pc in time for a project I needed to complete on short notice!! Absolutely no concerns, Mat is an awesome dude and was beyond helpful! If I ever need anything else or know anyone looking for a pc they will be referred to him 1000%!! My biggest point I was pleased with is he didnt try to push me into something I didnt want or need. Very pleased 10 stars if possible!!!

Had a bad experience with this low life earlier in the year, sold me a computer promising one thing and under delivering by a ton.But to top it all off, he gave me a faulty Windows OS key which is set to expire in the next week, > 8 months after I purchased it from him.Honestly not sure how he has stayed in business so long, like the review before me states be belittles his customers and hangs around those who stroke his ego. Definately do not reccomend this place for any computer help.

Messaged the owner Mat aspenwall on facebook to see if hed by my pc desktop build, he told me it was over priced even though he said im 15% under market value. He didnt like that i wouldnt sell it for less than i was requesting and belittled and accused me of scamming. He then stated be wanted to meet in person to discuss this issue face to face since i told him id write him a negative reveiw for being unprofessional. I strickly told him Im firm on my price and told him of hes not interested thats fine. Ive moved on to selling my build to other buyers. He continued to berate and belittle me. I told him numerous times that hes being unprofessional and should have responded in a more professional way. Instead he continued to berate me and demand i meet him in person. I refused. Ive already moved on to sell my computer to another buyer. I dont think a company owner should berate someone and threaten a potentional customer who is looking to sell him a product that he buys and resells (pcs). Hes now threatening to sue me for this review.
