I just acquired my 2nd Mini Cooper recently and needed to get an oil change, so I brought it in to Frank’s a few weeks ago. Everybody was knowledgeable and informative. They had my Mini ready in a timely manner. I will be back in a month or so for a time-up. Hopefully this will turn out to be my go-to shop.

Loved Frank, still love his son Nick, head mechanic John, and staff for the service they have provided me since the mid-1980s. Ive never felt like they put short term capital gains in front of doing the right thing and doing it well. Keep up the good work and hope you never disappear to make room for the corporate giants!

Excellent service on my 83 944! Nick and team go above and beyond to diagnose and repair using only quality parts. Everyone is very friendly and they have the expertise and knowledge on vintage Porsches which is getting to be harder to find these days and do whatever it takes to take care of your project. Ok so I’m in town on business. Decided to drive here. My coolant system had a total melt down. The thing I like about Frank’s is they are super friendly and they listened when I told them I need my car back in a few days. Even if I don’t get it back they still at least were obviously feeling my pain and were very considerate.

I appreciate how thorough Frank’s is on diagnostic assessments. When a minor issue was not resolved after my most recent visit, I took the car in with no appointment and they corrected the problem before the close of business. I appreciate that kind of service from a shop that is as busy as Frank’s.

Ive been taking my German vehicles to Franks since 1985 when I moved to East Sac. and Frank, now son Nick, treat me like the neighbor I am..well used to be. Even though I moved to Carmichael as my family grew, I still bring my German vehicles to Franks. Its a great group of people who know what theyre doing. Most recently my sons Porsche Boxter needed a speedometer/odometer electrical cluster replaced, an expensive part which requires coming from Germany and is specific to the car. They handled what can be a challenging situation (ok, Ill say it...a Frank conversation) with open communication which allows everyone to be on the same page. When the part finally arrived, they put it in that week. Now, why Frank didnt tell me in 1985 that my 21 Window VW Safari Bus that needed $1,000 repair that I couldnt afford at the time would have been be a good investment by 2021 (now selling at $50k to $80k), I dont know! ;) Love you guys! I took my mini there for an unknown oil leak, after a day or so I was informed there was a leak coming off the turbo intake.They addressed it and fixed it. The car was done sooner than expected and the whole crew was amazing, specially Sharon! she was an absolute delight to work with, very professional and accomodating.I live in the bay but If I ever need service in the Sacramento area I will for sure use them.

These guys are great on Mini Coopers, they have all the equipment to handle the tech aspects of the car, which not all independent garages do. Theyre also very customer oriented--I once brought my car in on a rainy day and planned to ride my bike, which I had on my bike rack, home. They refused to let me, put the bike in the back of their pickup & drove me home. Nice guys, great service.

This was my first experience using Franks. I needed to find a shop to service my BMW X5 -I have 97K miles so no need to use a Dealer. Franks was organized, priced reasonably, appeared competent, and tried to help postpone some maintenance down the road (rear brakes could last another 3 months before replacing). So far, so good.

Been a happy customer for over 32 years and would never change. For the last 28 years I have insisted never to have a call for an estimate. And I have never been disapointed or any kind of surprises. For they will only repair what is needed and not more. TOTAL TRUST WITH SATISFACTION.

I had a great experience at Franks Automotive. My first contact with Nick to set up the appointment was smooth an easy. They set up drop-off appointments so youre not standing in line wait to drop off your car and talk to someone. I was greeted by Shaun who went over the points of inspections my 2011 BMW needed and said he give me a call with an estimate. The service was done on time and just under the estimate provided. Professionalism, technical expertise and customer service is abundant at Franks.

A great family and a great team.I bring my 2007 S550 to Sacramento from Reno to get it serviced by Franks Automotive. They do better work than the dealer at a fraction of the cost.The same goes for my 1988 560SL which they have been servicing for nearly 15 years. It has a quarter-million miles on it and it still runs great.My experience with the Mercedes dealer service has been horrible. I dont trust them at all. I completely trust everyone at Franks.I cannot begin to tell you how much money Ive saved by coming here over the years. Ive gotten dealer estimates for many jobs and Franks has done the same exact work -- by the book, for thousands less.This is a great place for car enthusiasts who really know how they want their car set up. Horrible experience. Told them my oil pan bolt is striped and leaking oil. Asked if they could repair threads on oil pan. They said they would call me with estimate. Which they did. 773 to change oil pan. I refused work. They charged me 60 dollars for looking at the drain bolt and telling me it was leaking. Information that I already knew. My car was completely prepped when I brought it to them. Skid plates removed. All they did was put the car on a lift and inspect the bolt. No one tool was used. Just an inspection of a problem I was aware of. Avoid this place. If I save one person from going here Ill feel like that 60 dollars was worth it.

My experience was very positive. i only wish that nick would have been the one to test drive my car as i would have appreciated his golden ear listening to my engine and giving me his personal feedback . i appreciate his staffs prompt service and efforts but i still have a tick and no idea how to make it disappear. i do have confidence in their ability to service your car and were extremely cordial

They’re honest! I took my car to Niello BMW in Elk Grove and when I picked it up, they said I have $4,500 worth of work that needs to be done to it. I took it to Frank’s Automotive forA second opinion and they found virtually nothing wrong with my car. Frank’s didn’t even charge me for their service. I don’t trust Niello BMW at all - it will be Frank’s for life!

Franks only services German cars, so if you dont own one, buy one now! I will NEVER go to a dealership again. I have found nirvana for my car & me! Greeted by Nick & a huge smile, I was welcomed to his domain. My issue was tiny, annoying & non-revenue producing. The treatment I received was friendly, , efficient & professional. In the course of solving my niggling issue, I had the opportunity to meet the mechanics, experts who do the work. What a heads up group of guys. Wish I could have lingered longer in the Franks wait room, aka lounge. More like a cafe really & super clean. Really a 10 star experience!

Even with a couple of issues that occured that were beyond Franks control, the entire appointment was handled professionally and I will be glad to continue to patronize the shop. Over the top! They are not mechanics in the typical sense...they are skilled surgeons with a very competent medical staff! I wish I could receive the same level of care from my HMO that my Little Girl (2005 Porsche Carrera 997 S)received at Franks Automotive . She wagged her tail all the way home and thanked her daddy for such loving care she received at Franks Automotive.

We have used Franks Automotive since arriving back in Sacramento in 2008. They have taken fabulous care of our 1987 Porsche 924S and 2004 Mercedes E320. We no longer have the Porsche, but Nick and the staff were always honest and knowledgeable when it came to repairs. When it comes to automotive shops all we ask is that they be honest and competent. Franks Automotive excels on both fronts as there have been multiple times when they could have done unnecessary and costly work to our cars. Franks also stands by their work with the utmost integrity. They recently redid some brake work on our Mercedes at no additional charge and it wasnt even their fault! We love Franks and think anyone with a European car should go there.

The only downside to this shop is that they only work on German cars. That being said they were considerate enough to refer me to a trustworthy mechanic that would be able to work on my Tundra! Based on that and the other comments, certainly this is a top mechanic in Sac! Thanks!

First Mercedes: 2009 E350 luxury sedan and I wanted to make sure that it was in good running order. My first mistake was that I went to the dealer. Never go to the dealer, unless you want to be ripped off. The dealer charged me for the B service a total of $450.00. A- B service is basically an oil change and a lets see what we can say you need, but you really dont. When I went to Franks Auto, I met Nick, who helped me to learn many things that I didnt know about my e350 luxury sedan. They did a full diagnostic on the vehicle and told me the items that were in need of repair. They also told me about a warranty company that would give me a better deal on a bumper to bumper warranty, for half the price that I had purchased the first warranty for the Benz. If you are seeking an excellent mechanic for your foreign made vehicle, Franks Automotive is the best place for you. They have a very friendly staff of trained mechanics that understand your vehicle needs.

Im always pleased with the service I receive at Franks.. I recently had work done on my Eurovan and they actually printed out photos for me to see what was found. They even topped off the work with a car wash. These guys are professional and thorough.

Great shop! I took my sons older Jetta in for some repair. The shop was immaculate and the staff was excellent. I was a little concerned they may be too pricey for a car that doesnt have much retail value (dont tell my son that:), but I wanted someone who knew Volkswagen well to diagnose the issue. They were great and not too tough on my 16 year olds wallet!

Not only did they do a fast repair on my Mercedes ML320 gas leak in December but the mechanics were nice enough to loan me a wrench to tighten the oil drain plug on my motorcycle. Great quality service and nice staff with good hearts!

The dealership I normally take my car too told me that I needed new brakes ASAP. Action Auto gave me a price much lower than the dealership. I just picked up my car and they said that the dealership had lied, my brakes are fine and wont need to be changed for another year... Now thats good service! Shame, shame Serramonte Nissan!

Hes been taking care of our Porsches, Mercedes and Audis almost that long. Now, under the leadership of Franks son, Nick, the place has taken on a more modern feel; but the quality of the service and the personal touch are as excellent as always. Dont take your high-end German car anywhere else!

Long story short, I went in for a check engine light, $1750 later I still have a check engine light on.. I dont have the time and money to test and trial.. Im not taking my audi back here again. The girl in the front is super nice though

I made an appointment and explain the guy who was tending me on the phone my situation(Computer issue) and when i showed up the lady was so negative and she said they only work whit dealer parts and nobody else will be able to help me whit my issueShe saod they try whit several companies and none of them work but the main issue i had whit this place is the negativity of the lady at the desk😠

I want to commend Nick and the folks at Franks... I live in Kentucky and my son is in college in Sacramento. My son bought a Passat and didnt realize how many problems it had. He was soooo discouraged and bummed about it that I even considered grabbing a flight and going out there. I looked on Google and saw all the good reviews for Franks and decided to give them a call. They did the full diagnostic on the car and then Nick got on the phone with me and we discussed the options at length. There were 9 check engine codes! Nick looked at the blue book value of the car, and what my son had paid for it, and what repairs were needed. All said and done, he recommended that because we bought the car well below kbb value, that we could make the repairs and we should still be ok. And, they even did a temp repair just enough to be able to drive the car a few miles and evaluate the transmission, to make sure that they felt good about it, before giving the final advice and asking me to commit to the repairs. They fixed everything and the car runs great now. We got cleared on SMOG and got the plates for it. I think what I appreciated the most is that on the initial visit, Nick calmed my son down and told him everything would be ok... like a father would. My son called me and told me how nice everyone was and that they took a lot of stress away when he went there. Cant thank you folks enough!!! Awesome job! - Alan (Dad)
