Got my entire HVAC system replaced and River City gave me a quote and ended up getting me a better price than originally quoted! Repair took longer than I had anticipated but they communicated with me the whole time and didnt leave a huge mess behind! Overall I am very satisfied with their work and would recommend them to family and friends!

The company is well managed, provided top notch systems and installation, warranties and financing. They are dependable and nice guys. Technician John was at my home this week to perform semi annual inspections. He was punctual and professional and even volunteered to help me do some lifting that I could not do because of a disability. We hired River City to install a ductless mini split heat pump in a new addition. The physical location of the addition made installation quite challenging. From sales to installation, the staff was courteous, professional and knowledgeable. They worked hard to come up with solutions to meet the challenges of the site. The price was right too. I did not even want to give this company one star. How dare you think that this would be okay to do!?! This company has come out to our home five times at least. Our home owners warranty uses this company. Yesterday the company came out to our home to service our HVAC unit once again the repairman was out to assess why our heat was not working correctly. It was sweltering upstairs and freezing downstairs. We believe the first time the company came out the repairman must have broken off the lever to the downstairs dumper which controls the air flow downstairs. (My husband and I didnt know there was a lever there) This is the reason why the repairman that came out yesterday used a plastic fork and plastic knife on the dumper to change the air flow from upstairs to downstairs. By the way, it was freezing last night upstairs, so that was not the issue apparently. The fact that it was okay for you to leave our home after doing this is appalling and unacceptable. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and will call on Monday to the company to make a complaint. Disgusting service!! Horrible business! This was not a joke! He used a take out plastic fork and knife on our HVAC unit. I stand by my previous review above however I do appreciate the company coming out and fixing the situation.

Ive used the team at River City Heating & Air for everything from full on installations to preventative maintenance. Ive always found them to be honest and upfront about required services and pricing. Someone that shows up on time, does a good job at a fair price and doesnt leave a mess is of value in todays times.

Tremendous service, fast, polite and timely repair! We called at 4:59pm on 7/3 and had someone to our house within 1 hour!! Everyone at River City, and their business partners, went above and beyond to ensure our problem was resolved ASAP. The parts supply rep left for the day, but returned to the store well after 6:00 pm, the day before a holiday, to ensure John had the part needed to repair our AC unit. They came out and were friendly and courteous and got right to work. Every time the specialist had to walk through our home he placed protective covers over his shoes to keep our floors clean and I really appreciated that. The problem was discovered and addressed quickly and they were able to repair the unit that was malfunctioning the same day. Our home warranty company had River City Heating & Air listed as a partner, which gave us comfort regarding accreditation and licenses etc. Our technician Bobby arrived right on time and was very friendly. As first time home buyers, his knowledge and willingness to share advice was most valuable and more than worth the service fee (not to mention topping off the freon at no extra cost).

They installed my parents’ system a few years back and the service was incredible. The job was finished quickly and very reasonably priced. I was particularly impressed that the owner made a same day service call on July 4 when there was a small issue. I can’t imagine there’s a better HVAC company in Richmond.

We’ve had multiple experiences with them before and they were fine. The past two service calls have been completely unprofessional, they seemed to belittle me because I was a young woman. The most recent experience I was questioning the man’s suggestion, because it would have costed me a lot of money, he couldn’t handle it and stormed out of the house telling us to take our business elsewhere. That’s fine by me.

We had a bad experience with another company so we hired River City. I saw the great reviews and was excited to have a great company fix the A.C.! The receptionist was so friendly and helpful!! But when the technician came, he was rude and communicated poorly both times (month apart--2 different issues). He was very abrupt and disrespectful when we called to let me know he was coming soon. When I got home (he arrived before me), he did not explain to me what he had looked at or observed. He was very short with me. When he left, he softened up and was a little nicer. After he left, I received a text saying he was on the way? That happened both times.

In February I had a heat pump install by river city and I had a problem with the air. and I called them on 4/24/19 and the repair gentleman John came the same day and found what the problem was and fixed it very polite and knew that it was a simple problem of wires miss crossed.I will continue to use them.

I described what had happened with the air conditioner and he knew immediately it was a bad capacitor, even before we had finished walking over there! I hate to even give one star. Jeremy was a rude tech that refused to do a leak repair if I refused to purchase 3 lbs of freon from him. I explained I can get it for $40/lb vs. the inflated price they charged. Id had it filled 5 days prior (which he did not know until after he said I was 3 lbs low), and suspected he was not being truthful. When I said no to the freon, its my belief that he attempted to drain some so he wouldnt get caught in a lie, but I sent someone outside to watch over him, which interrupted his attempt to do so. Days later, I brought in a second opinion, who confirmed I did NOT have a leak, and was NOT low on freon. I reported it to RCH&A, and they still billed for the service call. Even worse, Jeremy was training a new tech. So it appears from day one they train their techs to rip off the clients.

Called to have hvac serviced. Danny, arrived and was extremly knowledgable. Issue was quickly resolved. Both the front office and Danny have outstanding customer service. Highly recommend.

Dispatch didnt give the correct price for coil cleaning. Indicated that maintenance and cleaning was the same. Then argued that a coupon couldnt be used for maintenance (even tho it said it could be). Turns out the maintenance offer of 59$ cant be used with others offers so ok but lead with that.Technician didnt appear to do anything beyond visual inspection. I dont know a lot about HVAC but he didnt appear to even look at the condensation outlet much less clean or check if it flowed. I had to negotiate just to remove the pine needles and leaves from unit.He also showed up on the phone with someone dropping f bombs. Complained that 1 small (easily moved by an adult) box and computer monitor was in his way. Also complained about my NEST and rather than asking me to turn on the AC, hit it until it worked.

All around great company to work with. The office staff was friendly and followed- up with me. Not once did I not know what was going on. The technician that came out was great!!
