My husband continued the work of stripping, bleaching and sanding – refinishing the top surface but leaving the rest of the body, legs and bench due to the impending arrival of our son. The refinishing project then stalled for 20 years.As our son left for college we started an “empty nest” house remodel and decided that this was the year to finish the piano. We checked the price of purchasing another similar piano against the cost of having it refinished and found that it would be just as costly to buy one that was already refinished than to hire someone to do the work. My husband really wanted someone to finish the already started work to preserve the sentimental value of the instrument that our son had practiced on for 12 years.
