My mother passed on 9/17/21. Crown Memorial was the first call I made when making my mothers arrangements. They were so quick and professional. Ashley was wonderful to work with at the Portland location. Ashley made it easy for my brother to pick our mom up from the Salem location as I live in Spokane, wa. Crown totally exceeded our expectations! When my mother passed away last month, I decided to do due diligence by shopping around for cremation services before committing to the funeral home that my mom’s estate had decided on a few years ago.I contacted several funeral homes in the Portland area, not expecting that there would be much disparity in pricing. Turned out that Crown Memorial was by far the least expensive provider ($795 for basic cremation), which was $1,000+ cheaper than the other funeral home we were going to go with. I was shocked by the differences in pricing across funeral homes for the same service. And, since I’m one of those people who assumes that paying more means I’ll get better service, I figured that Crown’s customer service would be on par with their low price. Boy, was I wrong!All of the people I worked with at Crown were very professional, thorough, and helpful. Stephanie even surprised me by contacting the Swedish embassy to get information about transporting my mother’s ashes back home to Sweden. At every point in my interactions with Crown, their staff went above and beyond for us. They were immediately responsive whenever I needed them and gave me all the information we needed throughout the process. When it came time to post my mother’s obituary on the Crown website (included in the price of cremation), the staff made all my extra little tweaks to the text promptly and accurately. I’m grateful for Crown’s expertise, compassion, and exemplary customer service. They helped make letting go of my mom a lot easier. Thank you Crown!I should also mention that, in my research, I discovered that one reason why Crown is able to provide cremation services at a low cost is that they don’t outsource different functions in the process like many of the other funeral homes in the area. Crown was until recently a family-owned operation and many of the original family still work there, which I appreciated. Also, all funeral homes are bound by certain standards, so regardless of the price of cremation, they have to have processes in place to ensure that remains don’t get mixed up. That was reassuring to know, because they’re not cutting corners to provide their services at the lowest price in the area.Anyways, if you find yourself in the unexpected position to be looking for funeral services, shop around and maybe you’ll find out like I did that Crown is the best provider at the best price.

Even after caring for my mother for four years while she suffered from dementia, I was unprepared for her death. Kindred Hospice recommended Crown Memorial and Im grateful they did. While my need for services were modest, employees of Crown Memorial treated me with grace and humanity, and made the process as hassle-free as possible. This kind of service often goes unnoticed, but it is a vital one, and can bring some light to a dark time. I give thanks to the people at Crown Memorial and wont hesitate to recommend them in the future.

Respect, compassion and straightforward dealings----I was not in the mood for any shenanigans that Ive heard happen in these situations. After a 27 month battle with a very nasty cancer, my beloved husband transitioned to Gods heavenly arms. Though the battle was long, our preparation time for his body was very short. Crown Memorial was recommended to me through Care Partners Hospice. It turned out to be an EXCELLENT recommendation. During a highly emotional and confusing time, the receptionist that took my request was compassionate, empathetic, understanding and went out of her way to offer many options that I had not considered. The drivers came to our home as quickly as they could and respectfully tended to my husband with grace and dignity. It was almost like they were caring for a living person....which I greatly appreciated. The staff kept me informed of everything that was happening with my husband...and they went out of their way to try and expedite the certified death certificate copies after a brief holiday delay. The booklet they left with me was extremely useful in helping me with a check list of agencies that needed to be contacted to get my husbands affairs in order. No one really wants to rate a Memorial service provider....but should the need arise in the future...Crown will be on the top of my recommendation list. VERY professional, caring, kind and ethical group of people work there....and based on the very type of services they offer...those qualities get them a rating from me of top notch service. In preparing and planning for the loss of our father, Crown Memorial was outstanding. The staff was extremely compassionate and thoughtful. Walking us through the steps and explaining every detail.Our father passed away monday morning, Crown was prompt and attentive. The transportation was timely, they paid attention to the details in which we had asked for our fathers cremation. Wednesday we received a call that his remains were ready. The pistachio urn was beautiful! In a time of great loss, Crown Memorial was a huge comfort to us.

I received the call every parent prays they will never receive. I lost my oldest son 4-5-20, in Portland. I live in Florida. Since our entire family believes in Cremation, there was no reason to fly out. I was going to call a few Cremation Services, but Crown was the first I called, because they are family owned. Very professional service at a reasonable price, was very accommodating per my requests and helped me throughout the process with the death of my father. Helped me get a very customized grave stone and handled the installation process and everything with my desired graveyard. When they came to my house to pick up my father the two men were not the most gentle but it was in the wee hours of the morning and I was clearly not in the best of states either but I dont think it was their faults. After my 7 week old baby died on a Sunday, we contacted this funeral home. They picked up her body from the hospital but then didnt call us. We had to call them Monday, but did not even get to speak to an actual person. When they called us back (after another attempt to contact them) they said that they would not be available to meet with us until Wednesday and could not have her cremains ready for a Thursday memorial unless we paid an expedited processing fee. They also wanted to charge us an extra fee so that my husband and I could see her one last time before she was cremated. Their callousness only added insult to an already greatly injurious and terrible experience. We ended up contacting another funeral home, which was far kinder and more compassionate with us.It was clear that the people who run Crown Memorial have only the bottom line in mind and will take any opportunity to add on extra fees. Their lack of compassion makes an already difficult and heartbreaking decision even harder.

They were extremely helpful, kind, and compared to many other places their prices were fair, and they don’t take advantage of people in these positions.

Crown have been very easy to work with and very sweet and supportive during a difficult time.

We originally went with Crown Memorial because their prices were unbeatable for the services we were wanting. When we went to meet them and fill out paperwork, we were told that both the mother and father needed to consent to cremation of the 7 year old child. We informed them that the child was a result of sexual assault and the father was not in the child’s life. We were told that because we knew the name of this man, it was required to get his signature regardless of these facts.Were we already so distraught from losing this child that we didn’t know what to do. She stated that it was their own policy and not an Oregon policy, so we were welcome to go elsewhere. We thought maybe it would be easiest to stay with Crown and avoid more painful meetings. However, this backfired horribly.The father was contacted by local authorities to provide the signature. At that point he decided he “still had rights” to see our little girl. He was able to contact the child’s mother to tell her he was going to come see the child, who was already pronounced brain dead, at the hospital.Now, one could imagine the pure panic and fear that came over the mother. Her assailant was on his way to come face to face with his victim, all because Crown Memorial had some obscure policy that they refused to wave even given these horrid facts. It was a tragic, degrading experience that I do not wish for anyone to go through. So to any single parent out there, save yourself the extended grief to your already tragic event and go somewhere else.

Simple and affordable to make arrangements.

When our son died from cancer last summer Crown treated us with kindness and respect. They listened to what we were comfortable with and did not try to sell us anything we didnt want. I was favorably impressed with all the employees I dealt with. In a deeply difficult time they smoothly guided us through what needed to be done and made a stressful situation go as well as humanly possible.

A basic cremation and mailing of remains escalated from $595 to $930 and the representative conveniently forgot his promise to keep us advised of the process. We could not get progress until the remains arrived at the cemetery in CA.
