We would recommend Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes. Everyone we dealt with was kind, sensitive, and professional. They provided us with multiple options but never tried to push us or take advantage of us during a vulnerable state.

Due to unforeseen circumstances I had to bury my father. Jack, Pam, Ben, and Vivian were very professional and comforting. I really really enjoyed having this team assist my siblings and i during a time where everything was a blur. They made things so simple and straight to the point. Jack was so sweet and warming, every time I came in or called she was so attentive and did all she could to help. The facility is Very nice and clean. Theres always someone ready to help soon as you walk in the door. I would definitely recommend Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services - Gateway. Thank You again Jack, Pam, Ben and Vivian I cant thank you all enough!

I had a nice experience with Advantage; I had no clue what I was doing and Ben was extremely helpful and patient while guiding me through the process of having my Father cremated.Everything went smoothly. The only issue that came up was when my uncle went to pick up a death certificate and my Fathers Urn from Advantage; they said he wasnt listed to pick up the Urn. So it took awhile for him to get it straightened out. My Uncle had come from out of state to pick it up, so that was a little frustrating for him. But I had his name added on the paperwork to be the person who would be picking it up when I signed all of the paperwork. So Im not sure what that was all about

My mom passed away on February 21st, and she was picked up immediately by this funeral home. On February 23rd my family was notified that due to COVID, there would be a 4 to 6 week delay before my mom would be cremated. This seemed unheard of, but we thought seems how everything these days, due to COVID, is unheard of, we had to accept the delay. Five weeks later, and after multiple, unsuccessful, attempts to pin down a date for cremation, we contacted a different funeral home. Learning that they are completing cremations within a seven day period was infuriating. We arranged for mom’s body to be picked up the next day by the recently contacted funeral home. These people are dishonest, hard to get answers out of after they have been paid, and I would strongly advise anyone reading this review, not to trust a loved one to these people; unless, you and your family are willing to suffer unnecessary mental anguish and grief. Thank you Westside Cremation and Burial for the long awaited closure.

Here is my recent experience with Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services (formerly Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes). On Sunday February 21, 2021, my mother passed. I called Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services (formerly Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes) to arrange for them to pick up and cremate her remains. Their company arrived about 4-hours after the first call, where 2 young ladies showed up to remove her body. They couldn’t carry her 150-lb body out on their own, so my mother’s care giver and a friend had to help them carry her out of the apartment. On Tuesday, February 23rd, I received a call from Jeanne “Jack” Sanchez Jackson, Funeral Director at Advantage, who called to ask a few questions, get contracts signed and make payment arrangements. At the end of our phone call, after accepting payment, this is the time when Jack found it be the appropriate time to tell me that, “full disclosure, I need to let you know that our crematorium is down right now, so we will need to send your mother’s body up to Everett, WA to our sister company for the cremation. Also, because we are backlogged with COVID patients this won’t happen for 4-6 weeks”. I was beyond stunned by this news, and shocked that this wasn’t told to me when I made my initial phone call, but with COVID affecting almost everything right now, I chalked this up as being another horrible COVID experience and that a 4-6 week wait time must now be the new normal. Also, because I’ve never had to call a funeral home to make these types of arrangements before, it didn’t even occur to me that I may want to call around to verify, so I went ahead and accepted the news she delivered as the truth.Fast forward almost 5-weeks to March 23rd, I emailed Jack again, asking about the schedule date, to which she replied, “I’m sorry I still don’t have a date yet…”.On March 25th, I decided to reach out to a couple different local area crematoriums to see what their average wait time was. Shortly after sending out my queries, I received a response back from Westside Cremation letting me know that they are currently taking about 5-7 days to complete the process, from the time they receive the body to the time they return the ashes to the family. Upon receiving this response, I was extremely upset as I felt very taken advantage of and lied to. How on earth could one funeral home have a 4-6-week backlog “due to COVID”, while another funeral home just miles apart can complete the process in under a week? And why, if they were so far behind, wouldn’t they disclose this information before picking up my loved one’s body? And so I talked to Westside Cremation to see if I had any options, and she said that for an additional fee, her company could go pick my mother’s body up from Everett, WA and complete the cremation for our family in their facility in under a week if we wanted to spend the extra money on transportation. Since their cost of cremation is markedly less than Advantage’s, this really only put me out an extra $100, which was well worth it to me to put my family’s mind at ease and give us all our overdue need of closure. So I called Jack to tell her that I had found a company that could do the work they were hired for a 1/6 of the time and that I wanted a full refund and an address as to where my mother’s body could be retrieved. This is when I found out that her body hadn’t even made it to Everett, WA yet. She was still sitting in a refrigerator in North Portland. So just to recap, not only had they not got her scheduled in 5-weeks’ time, they also hadn’t even transported her to their sister facility. It was at this time that Jack agreed to work with me and Westside Cremation to arrange a handoff of my mother’s remains and cremation responsibilities between funeral homes. She also advised me that because refunds must go through their corporate offices in Texas, it would be several weeks before I would receive a refund.

I cannot express my gratitude enough. From start to finish Chris and Ben were there for my husband and I. Losing a baby was the hardest thing for us and we had no idea of where to even start. The initial phone conversation with Chris gave me comfort and I knew this was the place to help me lay my baby to rest. The building was beautiful and they both helped me in any way they could and offered me so much. The night of the ceremony Ben was the best in extending his help with setting up, music, speaking and listening to all aspects of my family as they mourned. If you are reading this because you have sadly lost a loved one, my heart goes out to you. Just know that Chris and Ben were wonderful and genuine in my time of pain and struggle and I know they can be for you too. God Bless.

Ben and his team at Advantage were incredibly helpful, informative and all-around wonderful in helping us cope with my dear mother-in-laws sudden passing. It was an experience that was totally new to us, and while we grieved, Ben made it so simple for us to navigate. In other words, they did all the navigating. After just a few phone calls, our burden was eased with their expertise and compassion. Thank you, Ben!

I cannot begin to express the great care and professional detail taken in the funeral of my father. Shannon Wells was our director and she went above and beyond to make everything special. It is horrible to go through a loss, but she took care of so many details and we felt her hold our hand through out the whole process. All the attendants were wonderful and served us so graciously. We cannot thank them enough.
