Historically, I’ve not had to interface much with my insurance company. “Insurance”, it’s always been something just, well, “obligatory”. Kendra Tipton, who spent many years in musical theater before getting into insurance, not only found more than $500 in premium refunds that we were due, but also broke into song during our meeting. She discovered that we had been overcharged premiums for our personal liability policy for several years because we had been placed in the wrong risk category. I found Mariko when I returned to Portland in 2001 and, in the many years that have passed since, her staff has consistently provided top-notch support (shout out to Kendra, if shes still there, and Howard!). When I met my husband in 2008, we moved our home insurance and my husband moved his car insurance to Mariko Lockes State Farm office as well. They currently insure our two houses and three vehicles, so over the years weve needed help with various claims and other needs. More than once weve been on the road, in different time zones with spotty coverage, calling in with emergent time-sensitive paperwork needs (like when our mortgage holder erroneously accused us of having no home insurance, which would have voided our contract), and the Locke team has always come through. Most recently, I called to cancel the policy for a vehicle we sold and the associate (thank you, Monica!) reminded me that we can just suspend it until we replace it rather than later starting a new policy and losing our good-standing points. I suppose most companies might give that kind of notice but its just one example. The point is that I know I can count on them to suggest ideas that benefit my family. Top marks!
