Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had renting in my life. I rented a house in port Charlotte for 2 years. Repairs take forever if you get them done at all. When we moved in they had a few top panel screens replaced and the company didn’t do a good job at all they were sagging and made a lot of noise when the wind blew shortly after that the maintenance manager came by to check them and he said they would be getting replaced shortly, the screens were finally replaced well over a year later in the last few months of the lease. The sliding screen panels on the garage needed repair when we moved in as well, it looked like someone hit one of the panels with their car, after them sending a garage door company to fix it I gave up on their abilities to schedule proper maintenance and just did the repairs myself the best I could. The roof was leaking in the garage when it rained and after 5/6 months they finally had someone come repair it in the last two weeks of the lease. Upon vacating(I was 12 days late vacating, wanted to include this before they try n make me look bad with a reply to this review) and after a few emails asking where my security deposit or claim letter was I recieved a bill via email, not by Certified mail like the law clearly states, because they intentionally sent the security deposit claim letter to the house that I rented even though they had my mailing address and verified that they had the address so that way i couldn’t dispute any of the charges. I was literally shocked to see that the bill is for $4080 AFTER my $1800 security deposit was applied. Charging me for 10 year old carpets and to repaint the entire house. I disputed the charges with them obviously and included the listing video(thank you YouTube) of when the owner purchased the home 10 years ago with the same paint on the walls and the same carpets on the floor. I have not heard a single word from them at all since then. I have sent them several emails and they never seem to respond to them ever. Somehow they deleted my original review so it couldn’t be seen makes me wonder how many people they have done that to….P.S. I was an overall good tenant. Always paid the rent(late a few times after COVID started, but it was always paid) I made sure the house was cleaner than it was when I moved in. I pressure washed the house and driveway before the lease was up, professionally cleaned the windows, even rebuilt the back door with auto body filler and spray foam bc the bottom was completely rotted out and the metal was rusted and had several holes in it(which they still didn’t even replace after the lease either).

From the time we made our inquiry of a home rental in Rotonda West, Winter was right there with any questions we had. We were in need of a home rental ASAP and stayed of top of everything until we signed our lease. She did everything possible to move the process along so we could move in quickly. Finding a house to rent in Florida isnt easy and every realtor I contacted was a waste of time. I found a house I liked Sunday at 7am, emailed Douglas Realty and within 5 mins Winter got back to me. All day she stayed in contact answering questions. Saw the house the next day and signed a lease the following day. Winter knows what she is doing and gets things done. Debbie on the office was also a huge help and cannot thank them both enough.

I had to find a place in the middle of the 2020 COVID pandemic. I searched for almost a month and would find very minimal options. When I found my current rental, I called the listing number after hours and to my surprise they actually picked up (The owner: Kevin Hagg) and he stated he would have the correct person representing the home (Winter King) give me a call in a few minutes. Sure enough, in a few minutes I received a call from Winter. She called to explain that she was at some type of event (I cant recall) and she would need to call me when she was finished but she at least wanted to let me know the property was available and that when she called back we could arrange a showing. Shortly after, she called back and we made arrangements.Winter King made this difficult and stressful time much more pleasant. Anytime I sent her a message or needing anything, she was always available and always followed up, no matter what time. She was and is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and dependable. Of course after the deal was made, I worked with the office staff from that point for all the paperwork involved in renting a home. Although a little tricky with COVID throwing everyone curveballs, we managed to get everything sorted.After moving in, I came across a few things that needed to be addressed. With COVID making many places close and unavailable, there was a delay in getting this arranged. Very frustrated, I reached out to Winter for advice (again, after hours). She promised although she (understandably) couldnt do anything at that particular moment, she would make sure it would be taken care of first thing. The next morning, I received a call from the owner (Kevin Hagg) and we discussed everything. He was super understanding of the situation and we were able to get everything sorted out.Later, I had some close friends whom needed a place in another county close by. Fortunately, Douglas Realty Property covered this area as well. I reached out to Kevin and asked for his help and he was able to get my friends arranged with someone.I know if I need anything, it will be handled and taken care of by a good and friendly team. Hands down, the best real estate experience Ive ever had. After talking to numerous agents, I chose to work with this office because of the customer service. I sell cars for a living, and understand how important the comfort level is between a buyer and a seller. The entire staff worked diligently to provide comparable comparisons for both of my properties, and went above and beyond by communicating with me after hours... as that is all my schedule allows. Exceptional customer service is something that is hard to find, and they made me feel as if I was their most important client. I have been a tenant of Douglas Realty for years now and its the most positive rental experience Ive ever had, to the point where im hoping to work with them to build and own my first home. Renting is inevitably going to be inconvenient and stressful at times, trying to feel like a rental is your home, balancing what youre responsible for and what is the responsibility of the company to repair when something breaks.. and that worry especially when you as a tenant and them as a landlord are getting to know each other initially, both parties hoping the other will respect the lease agreement. A rental company has to worry about who theyre renting to, and answers to the home owner. A tenant has to worry about invasion of privacy and if the rental company will look out for you as much as they do the homeowner they answer to. In my experience Douglas Realty has done that. I keep my house nice which is common courtesy and common sense as an adult, pay my rent on time, and havent had any major problems- an appliance went out and they replaced it quickly. When we first moved in we had an issue with both toilets and they immediately had a plumber rebuild them entirely and fix it. Im thankful to rent through them, knowing they respect and take good care of their tenants.

We have worked closely with Douglas Realty staff for many years now and can say unequivocally that they are just a phenomenal group to deal with. This group puts their customers first. They respond promptly to problems that are reported making sure that their customers are taken care of.

Very unprofessional. Same story here. No copy of lease. Takes there sweet time completing repairs IF they do them. Nicest people ever until they get your money then you are a problem. If you are a renter dont think you are going to be treated like a valued customer. More like an invaluable problem. Get another realtor!!
