Horrible place in conducive to recovery shifty attitudes of most staff...not all staff just most...alot more negative than positive can be said to keep it short and adult like

Just like in life, and many there as I once was made the wrong choices, so rest ya neck with all those complaints.”

My father is in there the place is dirty inside they take there cell phones. My dad is getting screwed by the place. They dont have enough food dirty and u never seem to leave the program.

ACTA is an alternative housing program for the Allegheny County Jail. It is supposed to be a halfway house with a structure beneficial to recovery for alcoholics and addicts. It’s quite the opposite; a truly detrimental program that could only be described as a pit of despair. ACTA lacks any structure it may have ever had, if it did. The counselors don’t even meet with the so-called clients, so any actual treatment on an idividual basis is negleted. Without this individual therapy, forming a treatment plan obviously is impossible, so even if one wanted to work on themselves, they wouldn’t know where to begin.In the group “lectures” and group “therapy” forums the staff comes in with pamphlets taken from the big book or printed from the internet and presents them, sightunseen. It’s an embarrassment that tax payer dollars fund this abortion labeled a halfway house.Drug use runs rampant with the inmates constantly with staff knowledge, which breaks any semblance of an atmosphere of recovery. There are overdoses on drugs and even strange new drugs abused and passed around regularly.If one wanted to build a foundation for recovery or even just abstain from drug use they would be better off moving in with their drug dealer than taking a place in ACTA, because at least it would only be one individual offering the death sentence of continued drug use and not many of their peers.Here is fair warning that ACTA is truly a regression and not a solution to recovery from drugs and alcohol.

Resident in early nineties when it was co_ed .i spent six months was taught invaiuble addiction knowledge.was treated fairly and fed like a king.it saved my life and in 25 yrs havent had more than traffic ticket.i owe my life to acta and the fine people who ran it then.

Heard they have bed bugs and are not testing people with this virus 🦠and they don’t want to release people in there that already have a home plan I guess they just wanna make it worse for them

Its an alternative housing center for the Allegheny County Jail. It is for addicts and bases its teachings off of the A.A. and N.A. programs. I would only recommend accepting this if u are patient and willing to listen to recovery meeting that are straight out of a textbook. There is hardly any individualized treatment here and its really just another place to bid your time in jail. They will let u work, however you will donate 30% of your pay to them for the privilage. Its not a very clean place and the food you eat is hit or miss since its all cooked by fellow residents even though they employ a professional chef to oversee the kitchen. I didnt enjoy my stay there at all. No phones or chew allowed but u can smoke whenever staff decides to take you out.Edit: After the first 3 months of residency you are now allowed to have a cellular phone.
