Moved out to West View a year ago and was still driving into the city to lift. Last Sunday, I went in with a current member for a lift and to check the place out, loved the gym and the atmosphere here. Immediately signed up and couldn’t be happier. Great mix of new equipment and some awesome old school machines as well. Love this gym, only regret is I wish I would have joined sooner!

The team that works here are ALL very nice, professional, upbeat, courteous, helpful. I get welcomed when I arrive, and sent off with a have a nice day or take care. The location itself is perfect for me as I work close by and try to use my lunches for workouts 2-3 times a week. Always PF-clean. Plenty of equipment to go around. At least at the times I workout, never so crowded to the point where youre bumping into each other. The music is never too loud. I use the massage chairs as well, which are a great way to ease the pain of sitting at a desk all day.

Only hard workers need to be here. No slacking. No quitters. No sandbaggers. This is a gym for those who dont fear training. A lot of free weights and equipment to get the job done. This is a Fantastic gym!

The Gym Pittsburgh has been waiting for!Pittsburgh has a very rich bodybuilding community, but the one thing that this city has lacked is a clear cut premier training facility, Powerhouse is now that facility. Matt and Lisa have done an amazing job taking an old rundown Bodytech and turning it into something special. They have upgraded almost everything in this gym including adding some very much needed Arsenal Strength equipment, which for those of you that dont know is the Cadillac of exercise equipment.Powerhouse has an amazing atmosphere full of like minded individuals who all have one thing in common....progress.

After months of membership, my husband called to cancel his services and it was supposedly taken care of. However they continued to charge our credit card for membership. With each charge, we called and disputed the charges, and each time we were told it was resolved and that would be the last charge. Two weeks ago I received another charge, so I called and they stated they had no record of our previous complaints, but that it would be taken care of, we wouldnt be charged again, and the owner would be in touch to talk about the past charges. We never received a call from the owner, so I called again and left another message.Today the owner called back, told me they have no records of our complaints, and that theres nothing they could do. I attempted to explain what happened (through repeated interruptions), and asked for a refund for the months we were charged by mistake. She said that policies cant be broken, they wont look at phone records or credit card statements for proof of our story, then hung up on me.Honestly, the amount of money we were charged isnt a huge deal, and I wouldve been more than willing to drop it if she listened kindly and talked through the issue with me - but I wanted to write the review to highlight the distinct lack of customer service seen from the owner, including talking over me repeatedly, yelling, and hanging up. Id avoid dealing with this business if possible. The other front desk people seemed polite and helpful - but the owner was extremely rude.

Purchased a student membership for the summer, as I was only back home for 3 months from school, and process was easy, cheap, and the gym had all of the equipment I needed, and there was never a wait. Yeah the plates are different brands, or theres dust on the rafters, but you get a good workout here.Of special note is they have a dedicated room for heavy deadlifts and squats, complete with a plywood platform and monorack. Would recommend for students that need a summer gym.

Bodytech has been my home gym now for 5 years, and i couldnt ask for a better place to train. Ive recommended Bodytech to many of my friends and family over the years, and the majority of those people love it too. From the excellent free weight selection, to the unique power room in the back, this privately owned gym puts the commercial ones to shame.

I go to this gym when I am in town. If you need a quick lift the gym is great, the staff is also very nice. The owner however I may say otherwise, when I spoke with the female owner to get my brother-in-law signed up for a member ship she tried charging additional fees in which I have never heard of before. Now to the gym: like I said I have been here a handful of times, and I mainly use the gym for their outstanding variety of machines for leg work outs. Every time I leave the gym my back is always hurting and I could never figure out why. Today I went to the gym and did chest/triceps, after picking up the bar, it almost immediately fell to my right. I thought maybe I placed the wrong weight on the bar, I looked it was correct, I lifted it again, the same thing happened. Out of curiosity I rotated the bar 180 degrees leaving the same weight on the bar. The bar now fell immediately to my left. Frustrated I weighed the weights on the nearby scale, the two plates which states 45 and 35 weighed in at 68lbs and the other two plates stating they weigh 45 and 35 weighed in at 82lbs.Additionally times prior there is always the creepy chiropractor which interrupts your workouts to speak to you about readjusting your back for a simple fee. Also I have never been to a gym where so many members pump steroids into their body. I have been around gyms long enough to know the signs, but when you are lifting weights and a grown man says good lift but sounds like a 12 year old female, there is a problem. Also watch out for the wannabe jokers. If you dont mind members stretching their core with weight lifting belts, or doing cardio on an elliptical with the setting on 1 and wearing a weight lifting support belt.If you have the time and money to avoid this gym I highly recommend it.Over all you can see I am very displeased with this gym and its ownership. I do not recommend this gym for anyone.

Love this gym, been a member for over a year. I have a weird work schedule and so it being open 24/7 is awesome. Its clean, there are tons of different weight machines and cardio machines, and its a big place so you dont feel to crowded. I look forward to being greeted (by name) by Scott everytime I go there.

This is a great gym with a friendly staff. It has a wide variety of equipment and weights which is perfect for serious lifters. And if your into powerlifting they have a separate room for heavy squats and deads so you wont get in the way of people who are exercising not training and vice versa. Overall 5 stars

Best gym around for more serious lifters who dont care about creature comforts. They have more equipment than any other gym Ive seen. Open 24/7, dumbbells go uo to 180lbs, not a lot of annoying people. 4 stars because it is dirty and when something breaks, they take forever to fix it.

To echo other negative reviews, it often started with the ownership. Any simple request or suggestion by a member was often treated as severe criticism and handled inappropriately by owners. They often became confrontational with both members AND employees when either chose to leave, regardless of reasoning. In six months of working in addition to responsibilities at the desk, I also helped manage inventory and did janitorial work after my scheduled shifts for extra money for which I was grateful they permitted. I was by no means employee of the year but was extremely reliable. Unfortunately before a Saturday shift my transmission blew out, and I had no ride or anyone to cover for me. Despite an outstanding attendance record and ZERO reason to question my honesty, the female owner accused me of lying and demanded I provide a copy of the receipt from the towing company AND a faxed bill from the auto repair shop fixing the vehicle. I went as far as getting the bill faxed but decided I no longer deserved this disrespect and silliness. Even as I politely resigned and requested my paycheck she said she wouldnt have been surprised if I had my girlfriend conjure up a fake bill. When I received my final paycheck in the mail, I also received a handwritten letter from her lecturing me about lying in the workplace, two weeks after I resigned. This is completely outlandish and I wish I were making this story up. I know its excessive for a review, but I just want people to understand what type of people own the facility. The male owner was LESS confrontational but certainly still was. Without ever having heard of the shop that fixed my car he asked, do they even fix transmissions there? as if I had provided any reason to be skeptical. The desk staff was always friendly, and I did enjoy building a rapport with several members. However morale around the gym always was low because multiple members/day expressed their dissatisfaction, and even for a gym turnover was high. I wouldnt recommend this gym to a soul. Driving a little out of your way or paying a little extra for another gym will be incredibly worth your time.

I dont know with all these negative reviews are talking about. Ive been going to body tech since January of this year and have not encountered any of the aforementioned problems with it. Ive never even spoken with the owners but the guy that works the desk named Scott is a cool guy who even remembers your name. Theres an almost endless supply of dumbbells and a hefty amount of cardio equipment so theres something there for everyone. If you like going to a gym to just lift your 25 pound dumbbells and scoff at people bigger than you and call them roid heads then this gym is not for you in the first place. Go to Planet Fitness for pizza Mondays if thats what youre all about.

Lets see where do we start with this Gym:1. It looks like it hasnt been cleaned for years! It has INCHES of dust all over the duct work, fans, lights, and ledges. Ive seen some nasty big @$$ bugs scurrying around. The back womens bathroom has a seriously awful stench coming from it and has smelled that way for months! Empty bottles will stay in the same place for a week or more before they get picked up. They only have one cleaning person come in for a short time when the facility needs a lot more attention!!!!2. They have TVs that look like they are 20+ years old. The pictures on them are bad, the cardio theater boxes they have for them dont work and the close captioning doesnt work on any of them so you cant even watch TV while you use the treadmills.3. Half of the treadmills are at lease 10 years old while the other half are more than 20 years old. No equipment is updated, mirrors are broken and stay that way, holes stay in the dry wall without being fixed. They put a fresh coat of paint on but now the walls are dirty again and arent washed down by anyone.4. The owners are SO mean to their members! I have over heard the female owner say that she hates people, I have seen them get into screaming matches with members, and have even seen the male owner flick a member off. They always make the members feel like they are doing something wrong. Now there is definitely gym etiquette that needs to be followed and rules that members need to abide by but the owners do an awful job of managing it and yell at their members instead of discussing it with them if there is a problem. There are a lot of other gyms in the area that I would joint first and make Bodytech a VERY last resort.

Bodytechs policies are simple and member friendly and are administered consistently by all employees. Simply fill out our Cancellation Form in person (to eliminate mischief) and your membership is terminated in 30 days, no questions asked. Katie Senko refused to adhere to our policy as stated by two employees and the owner after endless discussions. Finally, many gym members go through periods of non use and no gym refunds time retroactively.Tom Horner, Owner
