Im a Pittsburgh area photographer and I can not say enough good things about the University Club! Every time Im there Jessica and the staff treat me like GOLD and I am only working with them for the day. The way they take care of the couples is unparalleled. Plus there are so many opportunities for photos in and around the club - and my personal favorite spot the rooftop with the view of the cathedral at sunset!

We were beyond thrilled with the University Club for our May wedding. First, Jessica was just a dream to work with! Her flexibility, attention to detail, responsiveness, and performance were all exactly what you would want from a wedding coordinator. The space is just beautiful - classic and elegant – and the fact that they reserve the entire building for the day of your wedding is unheard of! We certainly took advantage of this, having the groom and groomsmen getting ready in the library, doing first look on the terrace, and taking photos in several places around the club. The food at the University Club was delicious and the fact that we could include our parents in the tasting and customize the menu/appetizer choices was just incredible. Our guests were raving about how wonderful the wedding was, and the University Club was a huge part of this! We cannot say enough about how much we loved and would recommend this venue to anyone planning a wedding!

I love it here. I have been at corporate events in the ballrooms, the maproom and the outdoor balcony. The food is good. The av system in the ballroom is better than most on campus options. The staff is always attentive to our needs. If you need to have a shindig in Oakland or want to grab a beer the U club is a good spot. Membership may be required to access certain areas.

Beautiful place! Absolutely stunning ballrooms and meeting rooms. Even the restrooms are stunning! I enjoyed every event that I have attended here. The food is delicious! Only thing is pricing. I wish they offer a basic or affordable package for reserving a room.

Attended for a wedding reception. The staff is incredibly professional and friendly, and the food was delicious, despite being prepared for 250 people. Bar options are top shelf, including Makers Mark and Hendricks. We had a great time, and loved the updated classic architecture and decor. Hope to be back soon!

Excellent location to hold/attend a conference. Food was very good and generous amounts. Need to park in a nearby parking garage.

Had a beautiful breakfast with Santa. The food and service were amazing. Chef Konrad took the time to come speak with us and he was lovely. We had a wonderful time!

I dined at the U Club 60 years ago as a guest of my uncle a lecturer at the school. A few years ago two summers in a row I stayed at the Hotel for the SummerCON hacker convention and, although things may have changed a bit I suspect it is the same. First, you dont need to be a member or an alumnus of anything, this is just a hotel. BUT, because it is actually a Club the rules are a bit different. The bar is intimate and staff friendly and helpful in more of a family feeling kind of way rather than the impersonal hospitality friendly of any decent hotel. Although this may have changed, at the front desk you will immediately see something very different - they sell cigars. Unless there was a recent change smoking is permitted. The parking area is behind the hotel. There are jazz concerts, outdoors in the right weather. The rooms are small, clean, and quiet. The WiFi was good enough that it wasnt overloaded even by a hotel full of computer hackers. This is where I would stay the next time I overnight in Pittsburgh (I only live 90 miles away.)

We came here for a wedding and honestly I would never recommend it to anyone. First it started to rain during the reception and the cushions on the seats were soaking wet and there wasnt enough chairs. They didnt have a back up plan for the rain so you either stood in the rain or stood in the hallway until the main dining room opened. Once the main dining room opened it took minimum 30-45 minutes before they opened the bar again. The server we had at our table was rude and didnt appear to know what was going on. The food was ok at best too.

The place looked nice but my fish was way over cooked. Tough as jerky. Coffee and dessert was typical.

A beautiful facility in the heart of Oakland, at which I recently attended a wedding reception. Fantastic food and friendly staff. Ample parking directly across the street.

Was here for a Facebook event over the weekend, and its a gorgeous venue. Staff was courteous and friendly. We were fed a bagged lunch provided by the club, which, as far as bagged lunches go, was actually pretty good. Convenient parking nearby at Soldiers and Sailors garage.

I love this location. University of Pittsburgh (aka Pitt) did a great job with it. It is used for many purposes from lunches & dinners, weddings, graduation, events, etc...

I participated in a bus trip to see Midtown Men at Heinz Hall with lunch at the University Club. We arrived there about a quarter to 12 with 1-1/2 hour allocated for lunch. There were additional bus tours there - adding up to somewhere near 200 people. They were not in any way prepared to handle that amount of people. My fish was well prepared - if not hot. Others said their steak was stone cold and full of gristle. There were a good number of plates that had most of their meal still on them. Some folks didnt have time to finish their dessert. We were scrambling to get out of there after 2:00. We just made it to our seats by the 2:30 curtain call. They added unnecessary stress to what should have been a fun day. I had been looking forward to a meal there - but was very dissapointed.

Great place for a large meeting or a conference. Ok, the elevators are a little small and scary, but the meeting rooms work just great.

The cafe is nice. I go to the staff & faculty only gym on my lunch breaks. Knowledgeable staff and clean equipment. Nice locker room.

It is the best place to do small meetings such as department retreat and invited speaker seminars! Very spacious.

The drink prices were a bit outrageous. The cuisine was all right, but the fellowship was great! 😀

I am not a member, but have friends who are. I have also attended many functions and events staged there. The staff, facilities, and food are always of the highest quality.

This is an elegant and spacious ballroom for Pitt. Parking is accross the street under the Soldiers & Sailors memorial.

Unprofessional. Had an appointment scheduled to see the venue for a future event and I called the coordinator a day before our appointment to confirm and on the phone she forgot about our appointment. Then the next day, she cancelled the appointment via email an hour before our scheduled meeting. No courtesy to ask for my number and call. I drove 3 hours to see the place. Very disappointed. Crossing this place off my list.

We hosted my sisters bridal shower here and the food situation was appalling. We ordered food for 40 people - a bruschetta spread, vegetable crudite spread and fruit kabobs. Instead what we received was an embarrassingly small amount of food suitable for maybe 10 people. I followed up multiple times with staff to find out why there wasnt more food and they did not have an answer. After the party, I followed up multiple times with Jessica, our coordinator to alert her to this incredible discrepancy and she only said that some people eat more than others. Regardless of whether people eat more than others, there needs to be a set amount of food per person especially when you pay per person.I would proceed cautiously with the UC. My husband is a member and has had multiple events here. He and his colleagues have had very similar experiences. Even if you order for the number of people expected at an event, you can expect food for less than a third of the people you invite. And thats based on the math that I did from what they provided compared to what they told me I would receive. I.e., we should have had 120 pieces of bread for bruschetta and we had 42 crackers (yes i counted).

Went here for a conference, the amenities were excellent including the sound system, projector and screen, and the food was fantastic.
