AJ’s was the only company to provide a detailed estimate of goods, labor, etc. AJ was transparent throughout the process, always upholding promised deadlines. He walks you through the process, gives you options and his communication is the best I’ve seen in companies I’ve hired. His team was professional and efficient, finishing a large project quickly. AJ took our 60 year old limestone dilapidated wall to a multi-tiered, visually appealing retaining wall. The work speaks for itself with a sturdy retaining wall, sure to stand the test of time.

A lot of companies come in and tell you what you should do Jeremy took the time to listen to what we would like done and delivered 100%!!! Not very often a companies foreman will text with you sometimes at 9pm to make sure everything is how you want it. Him and his crew did an amazing job at the house we just purchased where the landscaping was completely not taken care of, they spruced it up made it pop and now it has a ton of curb appeal!! This is the second time that we used AJs Landscaping and we were just as pleased as the first time 8 years ago. The current job involved replacing three retaining walls and deepening the swale for water draining between us and the neighbor. The work was very professional and progressed at a fast clip with numerous crew members. AJ himself stopped by the site almost every day. We had 2 french drains put in along the sides of our house because we had soggy, muddy side yards. AJs team who installed our drains was fantastic! From the estimate to starting the project, everything was thoroughly explained and all of our questions answered. They worked quickly and knocked it out in a day and a half in awful heat and then rain. Just a great crew and great job. Ill for sure use them again for future landscaping projects. Yay for no more soggy, muddy side yards!

My parents hired AJs landscaping years ago to help combat basement flooding they experienced every summer due to rain. After AJs made changes to the existing landscaping my parents have NOT had a drop of water in their basement since then. We have hired AJs landscaping multiple times. They have completed both hardscape and plant beds around our entire home. The designer took the time to understand and help us modify the plan and plants to meet our budget. We have them come back out to maintain our property and help with any drainage issues as well. Cant recommend these guys enough.We had them tear out and replace our front steps and a small retaining wall that had caused trouble for years.Took them a week. But a week of extremely painstaking work. Everything was measured, designed, cut and fit to a high level of accuracy.The employees showed up every day, worked all day under very hot and humid conditions and were very good about explaining what they were doing and why.We did have a few small complaints when they were done.....as we always do after a large project... and they returned within a week and corrected EVERYTHING.Now, unfortunately, the sod they laid looks better than the rest of my yard, so I have to start watering more. ;-)Great work!

We had AJs install a new Limestone wall at the house we are building, AJs crew was very prompt and showed up during the window of time that they were slotted to complete the project. This was huge as it allowed us to get our sod and sprinklers in before the frost. AJ personally showed up each day to help and ensure the job was done right. The wall looks great, in came in at budget and was overall a very smooth process. I would definitely hire AJs again.

Look no further than AJs Landscaping for your water drainage needs! I found AJs through Google Reviews and word of mouth. My backyard used to have a pool, and after drenching rains this summer, our water drainage was less than ideal, leading to a lot of pooling of rainwater on our (now dying) grass. I needed someone with experience to take a look at my backyard and give me their expertise on how to improve the drainage. I asked for a bid, and I promptly received a message from AJ. He came out and visited my property, and I received a VERY competitive bid within a day. AJ and his team completed the project shortly after I accepted the bid, and I was most impressed with AJs vision, how easy it was to get ahold of him, and the quick completion (without compromising or cutting corners). My yard is now complete! I was so pleased with the work that I also got bids on a new driveway and patio. I look forward to work with AJ and the team again in the future!

We had AJs install a paver patio and bubbler fountain feature at our new house about a year ago. They did a great job. I was impressed with how fast they worked and the politeness and friendliness of their workers. We have really enjoyed our new patio with the fountain. Also, we had a couple other companies bid on the project, and AJs was very competitive in price, much cheaper than one company whose ads you hear a lot on the radio this time of year. I have used AJ’s Landscaping for two years in a row now. I was having awful water runoff issues (leaking in my basement), old retaining walls were falling, and my concrete patio was a mess. AJ’s Landscaping installed French drains around my house, sank my downspouts, replaced my patio and retaining walls in my back yard a year ago. Since then, I have received numerous compliments on the beauty of my patio. I just LOVE sitting out on my patio and drinking a cup of coffee. It has become a little oasis! However, I am MORE excited about what people can’t see. There has not been a drop of water in my basement since AJ’s installed the French drains. They provided me with something that others couldn’t, peace of mind. Fast forward to a year later, I decided to give AJ a call again but this time for my front retaining walls. The previous owner had installed the walls themselves and very poorly. AJ met with me at my house and proposed a solution. He addressed my frequent questions patiently and timely. The work AJ’s did on my front retaining walls have had my neighbors complementing their work as well. And again, I am even MORE excited about what I don’t have… ice on my driveway. With a North facing home, this has been an issue EVERY year since I bought my house. However, AJ’s did a wonderful job of again sinking my downspouts and creating retaining walls that are beautiful AND functional. I can’t recommend this company enough!

Design concepts are nice but the craftsmanship is some of the worst Ive ever seen. They cant lay sod correctly, leave a big mess and has some of the worst customer service in the city.If you plan on using them, make sure its very simple and not complex, they are ill equipped to handle complicated jobs.

Everything started out nice but after the 1st visit everything turned to radio silence when I never received my bid or any follow ups despite me reaching back out. The excuse I got was that with the severe cold and snowfalls over the last few weeks the salesman dropped the ball on getting our stuff. Not much for customer service... Really disappointed !

We live on a lake, and A.J. and his crew installed a drainage system at the bottom of the steps going to down to the beach. The former owner did not install a large enough drainage system, so we had water sitting at the bottom of the steps. We recently completed construction on our new home and was not entirely happy with our builders landscaping company, mostly because of lack of communication issues. I called AJ Landscaping and was very happy I did. Their bid was very reasonable and the work was great. I was very impressed with their attention to detail, not just on the items we purchased but also on their clean up process and everything. Ive had landscaping companies leave residual dirt/mulch on our driveway or street but not these guys. They cleaned up after themselves and there was no sign of them having been there. I also noticed they came out multiple times after a job just to make sure our trees/plants are doing well.I will definitely be hiring AJ Landscaping again for future landscaping needs.

TLDR: I called AJ’s company out for a quote, but I couldn’t afford the best solution that he recommended, so I’m writing a positive review of the process of getting a quote to make sure you (as a potential customer) know what his business offers. In short, based on the brief interaction, AJ seems to be a very professional contractor, and I would not hesitate to recommend at least inviting his company out for a quote to build a top-quality retaining wall.Details:AJ was a very nice, patient, professional contractor to talk to. We have a bulge in our retaining wall that needs to be repaired, so I called him out to get a quote. After his evaluation he pointed out that the retaining wall was made with insufficient materials with regard to the application, and needed to be torn down and replaced with heavier-duty materials. Fair enough; thanks for the insight, but money is tight right now, so we’re really just looking for a repair. While talking about the quote I also discovered that his company does not really do repairs for my situation. I completely understand, and I’m a little embarrassed to have called him out in the first place if repairs weren’t really something that his business does. Constructive criticism: it might have saved AJ a trip out if my initial request for repair had been screened earlier in the process. And that was basically it; I thanked him for his time, put a pin in the conversation to have the wall replaced (years from now), and we were done. Overall a good conversation, and I appreciate his patience dealing with someone who would not yet be taking advantage of the service.Ultimately, my advice to potential customers is to view AJ’s service as a very professional, knowledgeable company that takes great pride in their work, but that might be predisposed to replace rather than to repair, depending on the job. I would not hesitate to consider their offer if I wanted a new wall, but sadly will have to pass on the quote until it fits with the budget. If you decide to call them out for a quote, you can expect straightforward advice on the best long-term solution. I would definitely recommend AJ to others looking for no-compromise quality of work, and I mean that in the best way possible.I would deduct HALF a star because I think the process can be improved to screen calls better as noted above, but since I like to round up, I will leave it at five stars for the process of getting a quote.
