This was my first time at Car-X and I was totally pleased. I have always taken my car to the dealership to get the oil changed because they also do a thorough inspection. I did not have the time so I stopped in at Car-X in Mattoon, told them what I needed and they immediately told me to pull the car in.I only waited about 15 minutes for them to complete my car while waiting in their little area which was very clean and had a TV. I was out of there in about 20 minutes. It came to $48.52 for the 5W30 Valvoline Oil that the car requires. This was just what I wanted, a place with the fastness of the Oil Change places that I used to go to in Champaign.

Got me in quickly.... but beware...expensive. With a $10 coupon and tax added it was about $86!!! 😳😳😳 No complaints about the service just havent ever paid that much for an oil change...my dealership doesnt even cost that much!

I had an unexpected repair that I needed after driving through some flood waters. It had pulled the plastic cover down from the underneath of my car and was dragging on the ground. I stopped in and they got me into the shop pretty quick, was super polite and helpful and got me back on the road in no time at all

I’ve been coming here for years now, they’re always pretty quick with the oil change and very affordable. They do a free general inspection of your car as well which is great. I’ve also had my brakes fixed here before as well, I came back from a trip out of town and they were able to work my car in the next day and had it done in one day. Couldn’t ask for better service than that!

Have always had my truck serviced at Midas/Inyards, now CarX. I had developed an oil leak and needed to get it checked out. It was found to be an oil filter not quite tight enough. (From the last change) Guys cleaned her up, topped her off, and sent me on my way. Out in less than 30 min. Your a good man, Jason. Thanks for the honesty, it goes a long way.

I was traveling out of town on my way to a funeral for my grandmother when I noticed my tire pressure going off. They were able to get my tires replaced in a reasonable time for a reasonable price and were very professional and courteous. Definitely would recommend anyone to do business here.

Had appointment to get shocks on. They didnt know it was a convertible. Said they didnt know how to do it. They said they couldnt find it on google. I believe they didnt want to work on it. I was not happy.

Couldnt even change the inner tube on a wheel barrow tire rim.

Traveling through and developed bad tire leak. Less than hour before close, Drew and his team assessed problem and fixed. Couldve sold me a tire but plugged instead. Saving me time and money. Great customer care. Thank you

I took my car to a Chevy dealer to get a chevy part put on. I started leaking coolant after chevy had my car. So i took my car to Car X. The manager (jason) was able to get me in and problem fixed all in one day. That was able 3mos ago and my car still drives good and No leaks.

They were able to get me in for a complete set of tires the same day I called.

They suck at getting you taken care of, this is the 3rd time coming for oil change and everytime I’m waiting over 30 mins just to get someone to talk to me, then they took over 30 mins on the oil change. This shouldn’t be an hour process

Im here waiting on my car as I hear one of the employees speaking with a elderly woman. It melted my heart to hear him speak so kindly and take the time to explain to her what was going on with her vehicle. He assured her they would call and get her the best price for her repairs and that they would cover her oil change. They would need to keep her car for little while so he offered her a ride home. He didnt ask if she could call someone to pick her up. This is not just excellence in customer service but this is caring and compassion for others. Way to go!!

Very friendly, helpful, was quick and they had the car ready when they said. Most importantly they are trust worthy and did an excellent job. First time customer but i will definitely go back for all my car needs. Will be back next week for the a/c recharge. I would highly recommend

Jason the manager at Car X is awesome and service was exemplary and very reasonable price!!After confirming with Walmart they could replace headlight bulb—the had me go to auto zone to get bulb and then after driving 20 miles they informed me that I needed to sign a $1000 waiver as they needed to remove my bumper etc prior—I refused and called Car X they said to stop in and when getting there in less than ten minutes my light was fixed!!! Jason the manager was awesome and price was reasonable especially for this senior—Walmart just lost my auto business!! THANK You!!

Service was beyond exceptional! Came in for an oil change and they checked my air & cabin filter, OH MY! Noone has ever checked that or has mentioned to me that it needs changed. It was disgusting! Very professional, never feel rushed to get you out.I will definitely be doing my future business with them! Thanks!!

Car-X will try and overcharge you and even lie!! This was my experience at least. I wanted my front pads and rotors fixed they quoted for $250.00 after touching base with them I was told Id need calipers; and it would come to $509.00 plus tax. I wasnt going to pay that amount! I wasnt born yesterday. And just like I told the Manager at Car-X Ill just take my business to else where and just like that a friend referred me to JT Muffler!They did me right and told me my calipers didnt need replacement. JT Muffler is the place to go, Car-X is only suitable for typical oil changes in my opinion.

Claimed they could handle my size rim (22) but when I got there after peeling chrome off the rims and causing $225 of cosmetic damage they informed me that they couldnt handle the rim because of its size. Was then told it was my fault because I didnt inform them of the rim size even though I called ahead 2 days in advance. If you have low profile rims I would not recommend this place.

Drew is the best around town he knows what he is doing and gets you in quickly his team of experts are very friendly and able to help anytime you need it we blew a tire in Mattoon and drew was able to get one of his techs out to us to help get our spare on and get us in the shop for a new tire

I adore this group of people. Always so accommodating and kind and willing to explain in English exactly whats going on. They even fix other shops mistakes... no problem giving 5 stars and will continue to go here for my oil changes.

Amazing!! Saved our vacationMy sister and I were traveling when our tire light came on. We stopped at the nearest Tire shop. They were the most helpful people. When our tire was not in stock, they went above and beyond to get us to our destination. If it wasnt for Casey and Harley, we would not have made the deadline for the trip. They not only calmed us down, but took care of all the details and got us on the road while our car was waiting for the tire. We switched vehicles on the way back! I can not thank them enough. HIGHLY recommend.

I cannot say enough about my awesome experience! I called and Matt was professional and very knowledgeable! I dropped off my car for new tires and had them check the brakes. He called and said, “my brakes are fine but there were some other issues.” What I absolutely loved he said “they are not serious, so if you don’t want to replace the other issues you do need too.” He wasn’t out to make an extra buck or take advantage. When I came into pay he even explained what was fixed and even showed me a display of how it works! On top of that when I paid he applied discounts (Coupons they offer) without me even asking! So nice!!! I was blown away by the excellent customer service and personal interest!

For over 10 years, Ive taken both my personal and fleet vehicles to this location. This group of professionals have been wonderful to work with. They are honest, fair and take time to explain their findings, as well as options in a clear and understandable manner. They go above and beyond to take care of us and give me the confidence that Ill be safe on the road each time they service my vehicle. I cant recommend enough that you give them a try. We got a flat tire on I57 5 hours from home! Came into Mattoon, Illinois and stopped at first auto place- and they could not fit us in tonight. Found Car-X and they were SO nice, courteous and immediately helpful and could put a new tire on right away! We ended up getting 4 new tires because of the promotion of buy 3 get one free! And they temporarily attached our bumper that was damaged from tire shredding so severely.Thank you to the two guys working tonight...and staying g late.

Christian was an excellent tech. He explained everything really well and made sure I understood. He showed me exactly what was wrong and where. I wasnt impressed with the staff up front or the manager. I dont recall ever seeing a smile from the manager or even a thank you as I walked out. Customer service is below par but at the end of the day a smile isnt going to fix my car. With a dependable and knowledge crew I would return again. Bottom line.

They were very nice and Mat was very thorough. He made sure all my concernes were addressed and at a very reasonable price I may add. I always go there for my automobile needs and with service like today I will continue to go there.

Edit a year later: I lowered my rating by 1 star because ever since they became CarX their service has been worse and I’ve been disappointed in them. I made an appointment for a noise in my car and after over an hour they hadn’t even gotten to my car. They “fixed” the problem for over $650 and the noise never went away. They did correct the problem after I called to complain so I do believe it was just a mistake. They are good mechanics and honest I think. I’m still not back up to 5 stars like before but it’s better.My husband convinced me to start coming here instead of to an expensive dealership and I’ve never looked back! I love the service here and everyone I’ve dealt with has been super friendly and helpful. They make sure they are helping your car run the best it can without nickel and dime-ing you. I would definitely recommend them to others!

Car X gets my family in, out, AND SAFE. Had a few issues with our car parts are in or ordered asap. On top of that they explain the issue and what the part does and is for. They thoroughly inspect, they dont just inspect one area and send you on your way. If there are related issues to the area they make sure eveyevery thing relating to the issue is fixed so you dont come back repetitively for the same issue or an issue related. Tried other places faced some serious issues. Also for being a woman they dont treat me like I am stupid when I ask a question.... 😒Auto zone.

They don’t put prices up, don’t tell you how much they charge for the oil change, and then charge you $80 to have a small cars oil changed. Guy behind the desk was happy to pass the buck saying I should have been told.

I came in for a routine oil change and the person who changed my oil wore their dirty shoes in my car. They tracked oil all over my car floor board and trim. Very disrespectful and took a lot of work to clean up. Very classy

Matt & his CarX team saved the day... we were traveling through town and our brake line split, so we basically had no brakes. They were able to both arrange a tow truck for us AND fix the brake lines, all within 90 minutes! This allowed for our family to return home safely. THANKS!

Paid for break inspection, because I heard a grinding noise. The tech said everything is ok. Some muffler company in NY bought them, 2 days later, and now I need new rotors, because a break pad dug into rotor. Manager wouldnt even look at me, took several times to actually get a working number for customer service which offered me $40...went to dealer west of shop : paid less and recieved new parts along with food and beverages while I waited. I dont feel that a star is fair; although, thats the lowest option

Went in for an Alignment, got Charged for an Alignment; only to find out that they could not do the alignment.When I talked to one of the owners, he was unable to help me understand how I could be charged for a job not done... Really?I did get my money back, but with such an attitude I have decided to Never return.Sure surprised me with their childish attitude...

I took my Lincoln MKZ in convinced that it needed brakes but when they looked they found it was just a broken clip making the squeak. They easily could have charged me for brakes and made a lot more money but they were honest and told me it was just the clip!
