This was a great first apartment! It was nice to have everything included in rent! Maintenance was quick to address problems and always polite. Having our own gym (Brooks Street Gym) was useful for when the Nick was busy. I also appreciated seeing my landlord every week day. I knew I could come down to the lobby and talk with Taylor. The treats and surprises were a nice touch too! Overall, I would recommend for any student who wants to live close to campus and wants a safe, clean apartment, you cant do better than here!

This was my daughters first actual apartment in Madison at the university after living in the dorm the first year.I cannot say enough how wonderful the apartments and the management have been.Taylor who is the onsite manager went out of his way to be helpful with anything we needed. He went above and beyond what is expected of him.The apartments and the common areas are always kept clean and the building is very safe. They were very covid conscious which made me very comfortable. She never had any issues there and Taylor was very patient with all my calls and concerns.I wish my daughter was staying there this year but it seems each year they change places.I would highly reccommend Grand Central Apartments to anyone that is looking for great management and a great comfortable safe envirorment.

I stayed here for four years and it was hands down the best apartment I stayed in while in Madison. The location is a perfect distance from university buildings and close enough to Downtown. Access to a new gym and study lounge was a huge plus. Maintenance was super prompt and friendly, Taylor and the management were really helpful about questions and accommodating with requests. I also applaud the management for their response to COVID by sanitising frequently.

I lived at Grand Central for 3 years and I have nothing but great things to say. I enjoyed my time there so much that I never felt a desire to switch apartments. The location is outstanding - living right next to the B school, chem building, and ed sciences, and only about a block away from most other major buildings meant that I never had to walk more than 5 minutes to class. Plus its sandwiched between University and Johnson, which provides access to a huge number of bus routes.Maintenance requests were always completed quickly, the coffee shop in the lobby is great, there were free food events several times every year, and theres free/unlimited printing available. The landlord, Taylor, is great - he learns residents names quickly and he is extremely responsive to any issues that get brought up. Hes always looking for feedback and constantly improves the facilities/amenities. Its great to know that the management truly cares about the residents. The two issues I can think of are the cost and the fact that the walls are pretty thin. But those are problems at nearly every apartment complex at such a central location. The good news is that the rent carries absolutely no hidden fees and you get heat, A/C, water, electric, cable, internet, and even a really nice gym included in the rent.Overall if I started searching for an apartment all over again as an undergrad, this would definitely still be my first choice.

Great place to live! If we had any maintenance problems, they would send someone up to fix it within the day, usually within the hour. The brooks street gym (free for residents) is great if you don’t want to walk all the way to the school gym, and less crowded. The coffee shop in the lobby is great for grabbing a coffee & treat as your going to class. Wonderful staff, and great location

Great amenities, staff, and experience. Overall on the expensive side for living on campus, but if youre willing to shell out an extra $100 or so per month to be within 5 minutes of any class, have a free gym next door, and worry free maintenance, Id say go for it. My experience has been all/mostly positive with the exception of the laundry card system and relatively thin walls. Also Taylor has been the nicest landlord Ive had so far.

Maintenance requests always get immediate attention and problems got solved right after. Living here has been a fabulous campus experience.

I lived at this apartment for the last two years, and I really enjoyed living here! The maintenance is incredible! Often, it took less than an hour for a maintenance worker to come and completely fix the problem. They also keep the apartment complex incredibly clean and well maintained. The manager, Taylor, was always helpful and friendly. Taylor is constantly trying to improve Grand Central by adding amenities such as free printing and access to a gym in the future. Finally, the location of Grand Central is one of the most appealing aspects since everything is so close! I would definitely recommend living here!

I lived here for the past two year and can say that Grand Central is a great place to stay. Throughout my time here, any issues I had were always immediately addressed. My apartment was well maintained and if something ever broke, maintenance came the next day to fix or replace it. Also the free moped parking in a heated parking garage was a major bonus throughout the winter. Only downside is the laundry system which is a bit inconvenient but it is still reasonable. If youre looking, I highly suggest choosing Grand Central.

Grand Central is a nice facility, it’s fully furnished and maintenance is polite, timely, and they’ll fix whatever you need including changing light bulbs. They’re great. However, the laundry is absolutely ABSURD. You use a laundry card, but you can only put cash on it with a machine they have downstairs by the mail, not online. It only accepts $5 and higher, not $1 and not any change which is extremely inconvenient considering there is no ATM machine. Additionally, the laundry machines will not take whatever is left on your card, you have to have the exact amount. For example, I had $0.50 on my card and my roommate was going to let me use her card for the rest but the machine would not accept the $0.50 on my card which is annoying because you can’t put quarters or dollars on your card. They frequently turn the water off and enter your apartment for various reasons. The parking is ridiculously expensive and it is not discounted at all for tenants. For a four bedroom apartment, my roommates and I paid a total of $3,845 each month split six ways. Parking is an extra $175 a month. Insane. If you want to buy parking passes for friends or family ($10 a day) you have to pay with a CHECK, they do not accept cash and there is a HUGE credit card fee if you wanted to pay online. It’s centrally located, but SO expensive. Overall, would not live here again.

Loved my time at GC. Lived there 3 years in a 2 bedroom and then 1 bedroom apt. Taylor and the rest of the staff were always very friendly and accommodating. Our maintenance requests were handled extremely quickly. The perks like bagels on Monday and catering during finals were a huge plus. Even though the units arent as up to date as other buildings in the area (black appliances instead of stainless), everything was always well maintained. Even though I never used the study lounges, it was nice to have them available. Free moped parking was another huge reason I stayed with GC over the years. Id highly recommend this place to any student looking for a prime location on campus!

Grand Central is definitely an apartment building that I would recommend to UW students. I lived here during my sophomore year and really did not have anything to complain about. The location in respect to classes is by far the most appealing aspect. However, it tends to have a very homey feeling, along with the fact that the maintenance crew is very punctual with repairs. As long as you can look past the minor issue of the WiFi going out for a few minutes every once in a while, you will enjoy your year at Grand central!

This place is a SCAM that is designed to swindle inexperienced renters (students). Management staff are ignorant and lazy. Had to pester them with continuous in person visits, phone calls and emails for TWO MONTHS to get our full security deposit back. They claimed ridiculously high charges for Above Average Cleaning and Broken Microwave Drawer when we spent 5 plus hours scouring the apartment before leaving, and there was nothing that bore any semblance to a microwave drawer in the unit (the microwave in the unit was in perfect working order). When we asked them to see the video walk-through that they claim to do in each unit after residents move out, they were unable to show us. In hindsight, the free monthly bagels seemed like a strategy to lull us into complacency before they tried to rob us blind.

Before moving out, I literally triple checked all the keys, fobs, laundry cards and mail key are all in the envelope to be returned. When I receive my security deposit they said the apartment key and mailbox key is not there so they charged us on that. I was super pissed and asked for an explanation via email. That girl in the office Nicki Zellner replied in 3 minutes saying: yeah, I am sorry the keys are just not there Isnt this robbing money from us? They just lied about us not returning all the keys and took away part of our money. When I replied to her that I guaranteed the keys are all there I tripled checked. Guess what? She ignored me just like a couple past experiences ppl had. Good location but horrible staff and service attitude. You will get really pissed after you move out. Give you smiles when youre a tenant, ignore you like your ex after you move out. AVOID PLEASE!Update 09/09/2016A staff from LZ Management in Middleton contacted me a few days later after seeing my previous post here on Google and are willing to go back and check on this incident. Seems like the service is nice but just the individual staff that is ignoring me. I dont want to misjudge the whole LZ Management crew. So I will keep updating.

Like others have said, the building was obviously slapped together in a hurry to start extracting money out of students. The walls sagged to much that the door to our porch because un-openable halfway through the year. MPMs solution was to send a guy with an angle grinder to grind a bunch of metal off the bottom of the door.Other things of note included the superintendent at the time signing for one of my packages (I could see his signature on UPS) and then claiming it had never been delivered / existed. I think he thought it was a laptop, I never got it back. Enjoy my thermodynamics textbook dude.If you live here you should also be prepared to threaten small claims court when they inevitably withhold 50-70% of your security deposit with no documentation. They rely on you being a stupid student who cant stand up for themselves.

They tried to keep my security deposit and I was met with no professionalism when trying to figure it out. Nikki Zellner, who is in charge of the office, lied on the phone when I asked to speak to her boss and pretended that I didnt have service so I couldnt talk to anyone. PLEASE DO NOT LIVE HERE!! Live ANYWHERE else on campus.
