Kim provided great communication regarding the data recovery efforts and that aspect of their service is 5 star. Unfortunately, some of my data was not recoverable, and double unfortunately, the more important files seem to be the ones not recovered. Still have many files to go through. Im assuming that the problem was that my drive was too far gone and not a reflection of their service.

One of my machines failed taking with it a few years worth of photos. Scott was honest from the beginning about what to expect and what could/couldnt be promised. Drop off was convenient and within two days of drop off I had an email from Scott explaining what could be done and what it would cost. As it turned out, I couldnt justify the expense at this point, so for shipping, Scott is sending me the drive in case I change my mind in future. If so I will definitely take it to him. My external SATA drive died on me. I had over 18 YEARS pf photos on that drive along with a ton of documents I needed and spreadsheets. I knew that I needed to back up the drive but, just when I was all set to get to doing that task - the drive died! I cant put into words just how devastating that was! I did a quick Google search for data recovery services. I quickly called and much to my surprise, a real human being answered, AND I could actually understand them! Secure Data Recovery Services has a variety of levels of service. It did take a bit longer than what I was expecting, right at first, to hear back and get a plan going. I about fainted when I got the pricing. - -HOWEVER, how does one put a price on 18 years worth of family pictures? Secure Data Recovery did a great job of recovering 97% of my data! That is awesome!! They put my files on an external hard drive, a Secure Drive and overnighted the drive back to me. I have learned the hard and VERY expensive virtues of backing up important and precious photos! I signed a contract stating there were no refunds, so thats on me, as they will not refund your money or any part of it, when they dont perform as expected. They recovered 10% of all the files lost and of those recovered only 10% of those could even be opened or read. If you want to recover pictures, they do recover JPEGs. Otherwise, pretty much worthless!

I have had an absolutely horrible experience since leaving my corrupt hard drive with this recovery service. I paid extra in order to get my hard drive fixed within 7-9 days and have been waiting for almost 2 months with no estimated timetable available. Its seemed that when its time to pay its all about turnaround time and efficiency but once your device has been given theres really no sense of urgency or concern to sticking to the timetables that were paid for. We chose Immediate Emergency recovery, and was able to drop off the hard drive at their Universal City location as soon as I got off the phone. I had 2 RAID drives corrupted while transitioning from a Windows 7 to a new Windows 10 computer. There were no surprises throughout the recovery process: SDR paid to ship my drives to their nearest lab and promptly ran diagnostic tests on my drives at no cost to me. There was no down time waiting in a queue to begin working on my drives: they wasted no time in initiating work on my drives. I was really in a bind when my hard drive crashed with no warning. Went to Best Buy who said “sorry no data.” Did a google search and located Secure Data Recovery. I sent an email to Chris and he promptly responded. Chris explained the process and gave ma a diagnostic quote. I sent in the hard drive and they were able to diagnose the read/write drive heads were damaged and not functioning. They said that they would need to dissect the hard drive, mirror the drives and then transfer the data to a new hard drive. Chris kept me informed Ali g the way and I was able to watch the process online via a secure website. They were able to mirror the drives and retrieve most of not all the data, with no corruption. The 10+ years of photos of my kids, and trips were recovered. Yes as others stated it was pricey but can you really put a price in memories. Contacted Secure Data Recovery after suffering a complete hard drive failure and all attempts to recover the data myself had failed. Brett Olsen was super helpful and courteous. Data saved!!Anyone can imagine the stress involved with the loss of critical data. Secure Data Recovery saved us by recovering that important data. I was impressed by the formality in the processes and the web-based interface. I would use the service again if needed and I would recommend to others.The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because we would have much preferred to understand the final payment requirements upfront. We prepared to pay in one way but found out we needed to pay a different way and it ended up taking a few extra days. Data recovery is often very time sensitive and the few extra days added pressure to the situation. Next time make sure payment requirements are stated upfront clearly!Although the recovery price seems high... we did have the option of reviewing the files prior to making the final decision to pay for recovered files. Right after our server crashed and a failed recovery due to multiple disk failures, we found Date Recovery Services. We spoke with Chris, who kept in touch with us during the entire process. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience with Secure Data Recovery Services. I had a 1 TB external hard drive with about 500 GB of information that had crashed and was no longer recoverable through standard means. I first called Secure Data, which informed me that theyd analyze the drive at no charge (other than a $25 return shipping fee). I dropped it off at Secure Datas San Diego location (which essentially is a shared secretary who ships it to Los Angeles), but I assume you can directly ship them a drive from anywhere.After 3-4 days, they had analyzed the drive, determined the problem, and provided me a quote of $900 to remove the internal discs in their cleanroom, reconstruct the drive, and recover the data, with payment due only upon recovery of data and acceptance by me. I went forward, and after about 3-4 more days, they showed me a file structure confirming recovery of all of the data. Secure Data put the data on a new drive and shipped it back to me along with the original drive for about $1,000, all said and done. Although the price was a little high (my only complaint), the service was excellent, and I retrieved all of the lost data. The whole process took about two weeks from start to finish. (They provided faster service for a higher fee.)All and all, if you have a hard drive that has serious problems, then Id recommend Secure Data. If youre not sure how bad the issue is, you might try a lower-cost, non-invasive solution first, then use Secure Data if that fails. But if your repair shop says they need to take the drive apart and reconstruct it, Id use Secure Data instead, as it has certified clean rooms that ensure no contamination in the event the drive needs to be reconstructed. This is a much safer approach and well worth the money if you have valuable data that needs retrieval.

Secure Data Recovery has done a wonderful job of recovering several years worth of photos from a bad hard drive from my Mac. I’m extremely satisfied with the service provided by Secure Data Recovery and their representative Rob Anderson. From the time I entered my information online (and got a call back within 5 minutes), to the day I got my external hard drive back I was kept informed every step of the way. Rob was sympathetic to my situation (8 years of family photos lost with no backup) and he patiently answered every question I had. He followed up with phone calls and emails throughout the process. This was a great experience from start to finish. I had two hard drives to recover; pictures, documents, spreadsheets, videos, etc. There were thousands of files that I thought would be lost forever. I contacted a few data recovery companies, but was not convinced that they were the right choice for me. When I called Secure Data Recovery Services, they asked all the right questions and assured me that they would recover all the data possible. Throughout the process, a Data Recovery Specialist kept me updated on progress by phone and e-mail. Additionally, their website always had the latest information about the status of the hard drives. I then received a phone call from the Specialist informing me that the process was complete. The data recovery was very successful. Only three minor files were unrecoverable. The call was followed up by an e-mail with attached documents listing the files recovered; their file name, type of file and file size. There was also the short list of the three files that were unrecoverable. I was truly amazed. All of the files that I thought were lost forever were in the long list of recovered files; what a relief! A few days later a new hard drive with all of the recovered data arrived. I used Secure Data Recovery for work because one of our users Hard Drives had failed and we needed to get the data off. Rob Anderson was very helpful, patient, and quick to respond as we worked through and coordinated things on our end. He was also happy to answer any questions I had at any juncture. My laptop hard drive crashed. I could boot off a DVD and a USB drive. However, Dell could not manage to walk me through restoring my Image Data Backup. After three days I pretty much gave up on Dell. Sure, they shipped me a new hard drive overnight. But even though I backed up regularly, I could not get my data back. All my tax data was on that drive. So much for going paperless. I googled and found that Secure Data Recovery had the best reputation, so I call them and was routed to Rob Anderson. He emailed me a FedEx label and I shipped the drive to him. They diagnosed what went wrong. They took the drive into a clean room and data platter by platter, sector by sector. They gave me access to a list of the directories and a list of the files they could recover. I told them to go ahead. In a few days I had everything that had been on my old drive back. They were fast, courteous, responsive to my many requests for status updates, they got the job done, and they have one very satisfied customer. Even though it was not inexpensive, when you absolutely need the data back, you absolutely have to go to Secure Data Recovery. Bob, you saved the day. And I took away a lesson. Mirror your drives. Don;t depend on being able to get your backup back. The cost of an additional drive or two is not much compared to getting back your data. However, if its too late for that, its not too late, provided you go to Secure Data Recovery

Our large enterprise organization had a flash drive which had been physically damaged and Secure Data, Chris M, and team was able to retrieve the information by de-soldering the memory and reading the data! I found that Secure Data Recovery had a brick and mortar location in Tampa which is about 45 minutes from my home, I felt more secure having it handed to a person. My kind wife dropped off my dead hard drive and she was told that I would be receiving a phone call the next day. As promised, Chris McMacken, my account representative called me and explained the process thoroughly and in language that I could understand without belittling me. Chris had always, without fail, called me or emailed me in the time window that he had given to me. He also responds to my emails quickly, sometimes within 5 minutes. I have worked with other IT companies where it seems what Chris does is foreign to them. Chris came back with a price which was a little deep for my pockets and he offered to speak with his manager to see if anything could be done. Chris explained that if I was not in a hurry that they could work with me. Since I was going out of town for about 2 weeks that worked and the discount for waiting was substantial to me. Okay, I must admit that I was a somewhat skeptical about the retrieval of data on my drive and how they were going to do it. They mentioned wearing white coats and masks and I thought I was hearing something from out of space. My expression was that it couldnt be that serious. Then again, Geek Squad couldnt fix my problem.So I moved forward with the repair and I must say that I am highly impressed with the level of customer service from Mitchell.
