We called sunsation for the install of a new pool. Craig came out. Told me he would send designs in 5 days and pricing to follow on day 6. I was impressed by this, but then nothing...followed up on day 9, then again on day 13. Received an email on day 15 that our job was too small for them to undertake. For context, our budget was $60-80K. If you have a job this size, I would stay away, they will just waste your time when you could be moving your project forward with another company that is respectful of their potential customers.

Sunsation Pools & Spas built us the pool we wanted and the overall experience was what you would expect from a professional pool builder. Steve, Laurence, Craig, and Josephine accurately laid out the build process and kept us updated throughout. They managed to stay on schedule while friends and families projects fell behind with other builders. The construction site was treated with respect and no trash or debris could be found during all phases of construction. 100% satisfied and will use Sunsation exclusively for any future builds/remodels.

Sunsation Pools exceeded my expectations. I didnt have to micro manage and bug them to show up. Actually they finished 3 weeks early. The design work was truly amazing. I now have one of the most unique pools in Indian Rocks Beach!!!! Steve and his mom, Joseephine treat you like family. Outstanding work. I was such a pleasure doing business with Steve, Josephine, and Lawrence. They redid the pool surface, rock edging, added a water feature and new paver deck. From beginning to end, I was kept in the loop of how everything was progressing, all work was completed as planned and on time, I couldnt be any happier.

They have the worst Customer Service! They never return your calls, never send a tech when promiced. Pay many thousands of dollars to have a pool refinished in January 2020, only to have it eak in multiple places. DO NOT EVER USE THESE PEOPLE FOR POOL WORK OF ANY KIND! THEY ARE BIG RIP OFF ARTISTS!

This past summer our 55 and over park was finally going to put in a pool. We hired Sunsation Pools and that was the best thing ever. This pool company is amazing. The staff is very knowledgeable and professional. The workmanship is great. We are very happy and definitely enjoying our new pool.

Im super happy with the quality of work they have done. It did take a bit longer than expected due to the weather, but they managed to finish right after labor day. We have received great customer service from all employees. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone in the area looking to build a pool.

Had pavers and pebble tech installed. Start time was given 8-10 weeks out, it was close to 16 weeks and we had to call them. Several mistakes made during project which were only corrected when we questioned them. When signing contract we asked about any potential additional costs and were told the price was firm. Was not the case. Expect several thousand to be added from initial quote specifically to remove hollow spots. They said these costs are not common but we had friends who had a similar experience and the person who actually does the work said he did it on most jobs unless the pool is new. Lawrence was the project leader, no communication and failed to deliver on multiple promises given. Overall just felt deceptive. We have worked with multiple contractors on home projects, this company was by the worst from start to finish.

Having never had to have pool work done before Sunsation Pools made remodel job very stress free. From my first call to the company until the last day of the job they were nothing but caring, professional, friendly and prompt. We even had a few questions over a weekend and the owner of the company actually came over on a late Saturday afternoon to explain things to us in person. We contracted with Sunsation Pools for a complete remodel after Irma took our Screen Enclosure to the ground we decided the time was appropriate . We interviewed several companies, either by phone or by house appointment. Steve, the owner came to our home more than prepared. He brought all the information regarding the remodel along with what is most important to me, licensing and insurance confirmation.They have an accessible Showroom which is managed from 8-4 for the convenience of their customers. No having to pick out samples from a small array of product in your home, but a full and up to date product line. The showroom also shows a sampling of the outcomes that can be achieved.They also have good working relationships with their vendors which allows the customer to have even more availability.Honesty was of great value, I was advised that I would get the same look from a standard price Tavertine Tile without having to buy the upgrade, and they were correct.We had already received a quote from a Screen Cage Builder, but they provided another contact for a comparison on pricing and we are extremely glad they did instead of being silent on the issue.The work has been conducted as effectively as the Florida weather has allowed, and the coordination between the various entities were done seamlessly.Can not say enough good about this company and the family that runs it.

This review is WAY overdue! We did a complete pool remodel beginning in NOV/DEC of 2015. Our goal was to have it completed for our annual New Years Eve party. I wish I could post before and after pictures. You would not believe it was the same pool, I promise! We also had them lay brick pavers all around the pool, our house, and a walkway out to our driveway. All of Steve and Josephines recommendations were spot on. We love our pool. Did we hit a few speed bumps along the way? Of course. It was a huge job with a major time constraint. Bottom line...We have a breathtaking, spectacular pool complete with 3 rock waterfalls, custom rock walls, and rock coping. Oh, and their team was at our home New Years Eve Day putting the finishing touches on the pool to make sure it ran flawlessly for our party that night. It did. I HIGHLY recommend Sunsation Pools & Spas!

Sunsation Pools & Spa did our resurfacing, waterline tile, coping and skimmer replacement on our outdated 80s pool. We are thrilled with the results and love the resort like feel they help us create. Their staff, crew and the project manager, Lawrence, was always professional and available to answer all our questions.

Sunsation Pools created a paradise in my backyard! Prior to the work done by Sunsation my backyard was the least favorite/used area of my home. After meeting the team from Sunsation at a home show, I called to schedule an appointment. Dealing with the office was the first pleasant experience. We set an appointment for later on that week and Steve Buscema was prompt and full of ideas. He explained what could be done to our aged pool and deck as well as what could be added. We had other bids but the comfort level could not come close to Sunsation when it came to professionalism, promptness and communication. Before signing a contract I visited the showroom to pick out colors and designs. I was greeted by Josephine, who made what could have been an overwhelming experience a piece of cake. We signed with Steve and the work began when promised. Lawrence the operations manager was there to inspect each phase of the job. Each crew was professional, friendly and clean and treated my property with respect. I cannot tell you how my backyard transformed into my favorite part of my home. I would recommend anyone who is thinking of remodeling their pool to include Sunsation Pools in their bids.

Steve came to my home to give us an estimate on remodeling our pool. He was extremely knowledgeable and most importantly honest. I would be confident in doing business with Sunsation Pools. However, they do not resurface fiberglass pools. But he did give us valuable advice.

This Sunsation Pools & Spas is very unreliable pool company I know ! Mr. Craig was very promising and told us that his company can build the the kind of pool we wanted. He was out of reach for months, and the office will not answer our phone calls either, we were wondering what was going on ! After we have been waiting for the final quote for the pool for about 2 months. They told us that they can not build the kind of pool we wanted ! We are not impressed with how they handled business with us at all !! I contacted this company after I read the reviews, hoping that this company is better than others !! I realized that reviews are not useful sometimes !!!!!

We engaged Sunsation Pools & Spas to refinish our pool deck and lanai with travertine to cover a less than satisfactory job by another contractor. The result is magnificent. From start to finish Sunsation provided high quality workmanship and exacting attention to detail. All company personnel with whom we dealt provided outstanding service and left no question that customer satisfaction was their job #1. From Josephine (the front office honcho & our main contact), to Steve (the owner), to Marcellus (an absolute artist with travertine), to Jay (the sealer)...all provided attentive, knowledgeable and highly skilled service. We couldnt be more pleased with their work.

Terrible experience. In summary, poor communications, poor quality work and rude staff. Our pool needed to be resurfaced. Sunsation was recommended in a Hillsborough County Homeowners Guide so I thought we would be working with a company that was professional. They were quick to provide a quote and to take my down payment check. After that things went downhill. After draining my pool and beginning the prep work on the surface they stopped and said the surface repair would be more than the 10% allowance. They would not continue work until I agreed to a new quote which was an additional $1300 over the original price. With little choice I agreed to pay and they continued work. After filling the pool I immediately saw a major flaw in the resurface work. There was a white streak that ran from the shallow end to the deep end of the pool. After multiple calls and sending of photos they came back out and said that yes, there was a problem and they would fix it. The fix (the first time) they came out and applied what looked like a blue dye on the bottom of the pool where the streak was. This resulted in a much worse dark blue streak that as opposed to the original white streak. I was told to keep brushing and it would get better…which it did not. Several calls and pictures later they came back out. This time they said a fix would be best if we waited a few months for the concrete to cure. So I waited…months went by with no contact from them. I called and then they came out again. They told me they would work me into the schedule in January (2016). They finally did come out, drain the pool and acid wash the stain. They left without comment (no indication they were done and no instructions on what to do to maintain). I refilled the pool (at my own expense) and after calling them was informed they were done and would not reimburse me for the expense to refill the pool. The acid wash did improve the original problem. They overall resurface job is “ok” at best. In the sunshine it looks great. With cloud cover or shade there are many little flaws and additional minor streaking in the corners of the pool. At this point I am done with this company and do not want them back out at my house so I will live with the pool as it is.

Just moved here from another state and needed pool resurfaced. That alone is a scary thing. One company we considered actually went out of business after we signed with Sunsation Pools.Had 4 pool companies out for resurface bids (Went with PebbleTec surface). The first 3 were not very professional, pulling a few samples out of their pockets IF they brought samples at all.Sunsation Pools came prepared, had answers to all of our questions and were very impressive. So, gave a deposit and got on the waiting list and it was worth the wait! I now know why they were so busy.From day one, Lawrence the project manager set expectations and it all went according to plan. We even added a few things as we went along, mostly Lawrences suggestions that just made sense (we had a funky pipe throwing water into the pool instead of under water jets).EVERYONE (Lawrence, Darrin, Brandon) was personable, informative, and hard working. They showed up and did their thing and moved on.I also liked the way that you pay as you go, and its all spelled out in the contract.So I HIGHLY recommend them and thank them for a great experience free of stress or surprises! And THAT is as good as it gets.AWESOME!

I hired Steve and the Sunsation Pools crew to paver my pool deck, put in a heat/cool pump and powerwash/seal my pavers. They did very thorough work and were priced reasonably. Josephine was very helpful over the phone and in the showroom, she follows up when she says she will. The job was originally quoted at 1-2 days, did take 1 week to finish due to weather delay. I am very happy with the end result!

Steve Buscema, owner of Sunsation Pools contracted to do pavers for our driveway and pool area. Every aspect of the job was done with the highest degree of quality and in a timely manner. The people on the paver crew were like artists in the way they followed the curves and irregular shapes of our walk way and pool. My neighbors marveled at the quality of the work and professionalism of the crew. Also, Steve did not just sell the job. He was actively involved almost everyday. I would highly recommend this company. They are the very best!

We worked with Steve for several months on a pool refinish and pavers at our condominium. We had everything agreed to, had the contract in hand, set the date and then he decides he doesnt want to do the job. Now we have to go back to the other companies we turned down and start again. No apologies, just a tough luck.His office staff are also completely unreliable and disorganized. Dont use this company.

Amazing company to work with all around. The experience from the first moment we worked with the owner Steve Buscema designing the replacement of our Fiberglass pool. The showroom is absolutely a must to see. Once you step inside you get all the live visuals of the pool options for just a few the fountains, lighting and waterfalls. There are so many options to choose from for tile and surface of the pool and colors it was extremely impressive. After we made all our choices and the work began everyone was extremely pleasant and polite. Our pool was completed on schedule just like we were told and we are extremely pleased. If you are looking to put a pool in we cant think of any pool company besides SUNSATION POOLS! They are the best in everyway. Steve showed up with full Packet with replies from previous jobs and also BBB info, business license and certificate of liability insurance. Steve and Josephine are the best and truly listen to your every need. Steve asked what we wanted done, told him a new a new patio using the old pavers for the pond and waterfall area.We went into the store to meet Josephine to pick out the new pavers. For the new extended lanai area that is 35 x 41ft. Patio by the pond is 15 x 29ft with 4ft walkway behind the pond to the waterfall area. Josephine is fantastic and very friendly and listened to our every need. She new we wanted a travertine style and provide us a fantastic choice for our needs in every way possible. They also drained the spa and moved it to place pavers under it and also installed a railing that we provided for the shallow end steps.They exceeded our needs in every way possible and than some. We were going to tell the owner how great Steve and Josephine were till we found out Steve is the owner and Josephine is his mom. They make up a great team and are going to go places in life we brag to everyone about their work.Our Lanai area looks like it belongs in a five star hotel and the backyard too. Needs to be on a magazine cover of better homes and gardens. Thank you so very much Steve & Josephine.

I needed a lot of work done around my house - paver driveway and walkways, pool resurfacing, screen enclosure over pool... After struggling with this contractor and that, I ran across Sunsation Pools and emailed them for an estimate. Wallah, they could do it all. They were very easy to work with, the estimate was in the range of what I had planned to spend, so I accepted their proposal just before the Thanksgiving Holiday. They let me know at the time that they would not be able to start right away. The work commenced in late January. The footers for the screen enclosure and an extension to my pool deck was first, then the pavers. The paver driveway and walkways really gave my house a facelift and I am so impressed with the workmanship. Then came the screen enclosure. Beautiful work and really made my backyard look 100% better as well as added liveable square footage to my house. Then came the resurfacing of my pool. Fantastic job, beautiful results, very happy customer. Steve and Josephine and everyone else that touched my job were so easy to work with, communicated well, friendly, couldnt ask for better! We received estimates from three companies that were highly rated on Angies List to install pavers on our existing pool deck and lanai. All three companies provided prompt, competitive and thorough estimates, answered all our questions, and were very professional and courteous. That said, Sunsation Pools & Spas was the only one that provided a packet of information that included paver, tile and coping brochures, a copy of their business license and certificate of liability insurance, a list of residential customer references, Angies List customer reviews and copies of Angies List Super Service Awards, BBB report, and a written estimate. We spent several months deciding whether or not to proceed with the project and which company to hire. What finally sold us on Sunsation Pools & Spas was a visit to their office in Largo where we discussed our project with Josephine, reviewed photos of other jobs they had done, and looked at samples of coping and pavers. She played a big part in our decision to use Sunsation Pool & Spas. We wanted to have the job done in late fall, so Josephine said she would call us as soon as a date opened up. As promised she called and we settled on a start date. The week before the job was scheduled to start she called to say that the pavers would be delivered to our house that Friday and to find out exactly where we wanted them placed. She also said that their crew would be at our house on Monday morning to start the job. On Friday the pavers were delivered by a very courteous man who placed the pallets exactly where we had requested them. On Monday, a crew of six arrived and set right to work. The job supervisor introduced himself at the start, explained again what they would be doing, and kept us informed every step of the way. Everyone had a job to do, and everyone knew exactly what needed to be done. By the end of the day they had removed and replaced the old coping, removed and replaced the drains, and had installed more than two thirds of the pavers. At the end of the day the supervisor said that two workers would be back in the morning. Promptly the next morning, the two workers arrived and set right to work. They finished setting all the remaining pavers, and cleaned up the worksite before leaving. The following day, the supervisor returned with a helper to wash down the pool enclosure, clean and seal the pavers. Josephine called to tell us they were sending someone the following day to clean the pool and to install the doors. There was a slight delay getting the doors back from the company that was resizing them, but, the pool was cleaned and the doors reinstalled as promised. From start to finish this was one of the best companies we have ever worked with. They kept us informed every step of the way, the workers were polite, knowledgeable, and very hardworking, and the work got done quickly and professionally. The results are beautiful, and we are highly satisfied.

Felt like we were responsible for every phase. Nothing happened unless we called to get the next step of the process started. Heres what happened and what didnt happen.Scheduled existing pool for new tile and re-marcite. Wanted it completed in time for wifes birthday and Memorial long weekend. Scheduled 5 weeks in advance per salesman. Office immediately told us no, more like 6 weeks. That would still have given them plenty of time without rushing to complete the job. After waiting and never getting a response, we contacted them in the middle of the 7th week. Tile was started the following day by a subcontractor that did good work. He worked by himself and was finished stripping the tile, installing the new tile and applying a bond coat for the marcite in just two days. He also measured for a small piece of granite that was to go in the spa to pool spill-over area. We signed an addendum for the granite because it was not on our original contract. Our salesman thought we wanted to keep the old dull marble that was 17 years old. We were told that they would install the granite when the marcite was done. There was still time to have the pool completed before the holiday weekend. However, we were told that the crew was taking a long weekend. On Saturday morning at 7:00 AM when the crew was supposedly on their long weekend, we received a call from a guy from Sunsation Pools which said he was in front of our house and had questions. We looked out front and no one was there. Obviously they were working that weekend, just not on our pool. Obviously he was in front of someone elses house not ours. Thirteen days went by before the marcite crew came to apply the marcite. They told us that they dont do the granite. Someone else would do that. We had a call from the salesman that was saying that he was checking on the granite controversy. We said there was no controversy that we were aware of. We signed the agreement and gave it to the tile guy as we were asked to do many days earlier. They had no idea about the granite. They wanted to send someone out to collect final payment and measure again for the granite. We paid for the completion of the pool and withheld payment for the granite. They were supposed to email three granite choices the following day. That was the last we heard from them. No email and no phone call regarding the granite which would cover the rough finish for our spa spillover. Now I suppose I will do some measuring on my own and complete the job myself. Too bad because the contracted crews did good work. They worked a total of 2 1/2 days. It was just the scheduling of that 2 1/2 days that was horrible. I would have been writing a completely different review if Sunsation Pools could have stayed on top of the job and completed it in a timely manner.
