Late December 2018 we had our house fire with major smoke damage. The company on call that boarded up our windows, also had this fire restoration company. That gentleman was extremely nice and cared enough about protecting our house that it needed winterized regardless of what a person at the insurance company was saying before our adjuster was involved with the case. Because of that mans actions we decided to go with their company for the restoration. It helped that they were on the internal list with our insurance company to do work as well. That felt reassuring to us. Our house had been deemed a dangerous building, power cut off and all we had was what was on our bodies.I will state that part of your success during your claims process absolutely starts with your insurance company. Our project manager was Randy. My personal opinion is that someone knowledgeable in the industry, that verbally stated that they are there for the homeowner, should actually speak up in front of your insurance adjuster on what really needs to be replaced and not just stand there in silence. Its unfortunate but for whatever reason our claim on every end was the extreme worse case scenario. From house fire, theft and a stalker. Was Randy personally nice to talk to sure. But, things moved at a snails pace with his one man crew. That persons vehicle leaked oil on our driveway. Now, my personal opinion is if you know your vehicle leaks oil then you shouldnt be parking in the driveway and if you have to park in the driveway due to supplies and tools then be considerate enough to put something underneath your vehicle to catch the leaks so it doesnt leave oil stains. A sub-contractor broke a family heirloom. In June of 2019, as the claim as it was at that time the one bedroom had finally been demolished. We decided to terminate our contract and go with a different company. We were charged for things that hadnt been done. Did Randy, end up changing the structure estimate removing those charges, yes. But, it took time and effort on my part to review the structure estimate, then review again after the changes were made and the if not all were made then to review again. I believe if it wasnt for me thoroughly documenting things that I wouldnt have had proof those things werent done.I talked to Randy about the other damages. I felt a little disheartened that it didnt seem him representing his company would make sure the oil stains were removed as its not their responsibility but he would reach out to the individual to come clean up their mess. Without water on at our house then a power washer couldnt be used. It was asked of they could borrow use the neighbors water. Randy, said to contact a clock repair company to get an estimate of the damages. Everything was such a battle with this claim every step of the way that I no longer had the energy to fight or do anymore work and I decided to move on.With that said, I do feel that Randy not speaking up knowing good and well that there is no way this house was going to be sealed, encapsulated, and repainted and us not smell smoke in the house aided us in being out of our home for 14 months. There are some damages from a fire that can be encapsulated but ours wasnt it. That Randy and his one man crew that takes forever to get on the books also slows things down. My extensive documentation through keeping a working journal, pictures and our Ring videos saved us but that was more work than a full-time job. It was exhausting.I see the positive reviews and wish that I could have been us. I wish that we could have left the keys in a lockbox, went through the process as it should have been and been happy to move home. That was not our case.Let me make it clear that Repairs Unlimited, Randy is not solely being blamed for everything that went wrong. They do take a small part of that and what they had control of at the time. I would never do a claim with Randy as the project manager again. Do your research on companies before signing a contract.

I recently had a flood in my home and I was a bit concerned about “ putting my house together” after the restoration company completed the drying out process. That fear was alleviated by the wonderful crew at Repairs Unlimited. Headed by Aaron and maintained by Dave and JD, my place was completed impeccably. Dave and JD were always at my home when they said they would be and provided in detail what their goals for the day were and answered any questions or concerns that I had. They even answered home renovation questions that I had for them that didn’t pertain to the job at hand. The duo was always so efficient and professional whilst being personable and that was greatly appreciated. Aaron was also great with detailing what was happening and within what time frame as well as being a great liaison between me and the insurance adjuster. They put my mind at ease during a really stressful event and did an amazing job with my home with it turning out better than I imagined. I would definitely recommend Repairs Unlimited because their job ethic as well skill set is nothing short of excellent!!

After a flood that affected three levels of our home, Cameron Mendez was the project manager assigned to our project. The nightmare of our home flooding a second time was erased by the dream team Cameron assembled to repair our home. Master craftsmen, Juan Delira and Jose’ Santos restored our home with impeccable attention to detail. They set, followed, and completed the task as promised and on time. Kobreich, at Enviro-Dry Cleaning and Restoration beautifully restored our carpet and floors to like new condition. Cameron oversaw each detail with precision and expert care and ensured our satisfaction. He readily responded to each communication and concern. I highly recommend Repairs Unlimited as the company to restore your home after water damage. Thank you all so much!

Im very happy with my bathroom that Repairs Unlimited remodeled for me! Craig managed the project, and Jared and his crew did the demo and the finish work. Tearing out the old bathroom tile was not an easy task, but they are pros at what they do and handled it well. Nick Triano is my plumber, and it worked out great for me to have him work with RUI to do the plumbing portion of the project. In the past I had RUI do some repair for me after removal of honey bees from my dining room ceiling, and they also built onto my garage and poured a new driveway. All their work has been great, and I have no reservations recommending them to my friends.2020 UPDATE: I have had RUI back for a complete remodel of another bathroom and to convert my kitchen nook into a laundry room. Craig was project manager, Jared did all the carpentry work, and Nick Triano did the plumbing. That whole area of my house was gutted from the first floor to the roof trusses when the pandemic reached the point of mandatory stay-at-home orders. I feel very fortunate that not only were construction trades considered essential services, but that RUI and Jared and Nick and everyone working with them were willing to continue on my project.

After contacting and speaking with someone higher up in the company they quickly and professionally finished all work doing whatever it took to make things right. If you need a home builder...this is who you want. I experienced a catastrophic loss of my home on April 10th, 2020 from a house fire. I lost my pets and the enormity of the loss is difficult to describe. I stood outside at 2am in total shock as the fireman brought my dogs out performing CPR, unsuccessfully. I couldnt breathe from smoke and shock. The smell of people burning leaves or even a fire pit still triggers those memories that Im not sure I will ever be able to erase. The funny thing is, Fall has always been my favorite time of year and the smell of fires and leaves symbolized Fall and now I cant even stand it. I lived in my house 22 years. I bought it after leaving a long career in the military and war. It was my sanctuary; my safe place. The place where everything is ok; where no matter what is happening outside in the world, home was there as a respite. I took pictures in the military. I took pictures EVERYWHERE I WENT. EVERYWHERE. Those pictures meant being away from mom and dad and grandma and grandpa meant something. Im from a small town. You make them proud. Now....as I stood there in shock...I realized every single photo...every single memory is gone. In minutes, 53 years of my life was gone. But not just that, my beloved dogs were gone. I tell you these details because you MUST understand the epic annihilation of ones soul when a housefire occurs. In the hours that followed, I do not remember making decisions. I had one pair of shoes. I peed in my pants while standing outside watching my house burn and my dogs died. I walked around in those pants for 8 hours. I was numb and dead inside. My Chihuahua had gone with me to get a pizza and survived. We had left and a space heater was left on and it caught fire we believe. It was 90 degrees and had dropped to the 20s uncharacteristically that day. I had never had an insurance claim. I had never been anywhere but home my last 22 years. Where would I go? WHAT WOULD I do? A man named Jon from 1.800.Board Up came over to me and he asked me what he could do. He cried with me and arranged to have my dogs humanely taken care of. He boarded up the house and recommended Repairs Unmilited. I thought anyone who was this good to me cant be wrong. He did not disappoint. They were so gentle. So tenderhearted as we navigated the next year. They were concerned about the build but also me as a person. They brought me washing solution to get the fire smell out of my clothes because they knew I only had those and it was traumatic me to smell the fire. My home was rebuilt with thought and precision and perfection. It was done during a horrific pandemic when every single step was a hurdle. They were extraordinary. I thank Aaron Widhalm, project manager. John, the owner. The billing office, Cheryl, worked tirelessly with my mortgage company to cut through red tape and keep project moving. Carpentry with JR was clean and beautiful. Luis the painter did an amazing job...There are so many Im grateful to that I dont know by name. This is long. I know. But you will never experience something so important as the loss of everything in your life and how to rebuild it...unless it is your life itself. Make sure you choose well. I can personally tell you....I would choose them again and again and again.I am so thankful they were not part of my nightmare story.

Our house was damaged by a tornado in May and thus needed a variety of repairs such as roof, drywall, stucco, stonework, window and wood floors. We worked with Repairs-Unlimited who managed all the repairs via their own craftsmen and sub-contractors. It was convenient to work with one vendor that acted as the manager over several contractor disciplines. We worked with Ryan (Project Manager) and Joe (Job Foreman) extensively during the repair process. Both were professional and very knowledgeable. All craftsmen were friendly, very efficient, performed high quality work and did very good site cleanup. Repairs Unlimited did more damage to my house than the flooring they came to fix. It took weeks to get an estimate, another week for them to follow up on the estimate. I figured things might be moving slow due to COVID and they had so many positive reviews, I thought we’d move forward anyway. I wish I hadn’t.Our project manager scheduled our repairs with the subcontractor without telling me. When the subcontractor contacted me directly to ask about dropping off materials for the next day’s work, that’s when I found out when my flooring was being replaced. We were grossly overcharged for flooring. Which Repairs Unlimited claimed could not be negotiated because this was the amount they’d already paid the subcontractor for the work. They clearly used unskilled labor- they did not do appropriate cut ins behind our fridge or under our toilet (which they charged us $200 to move). Luckily my husband caught this and had it remedied immediately. They had to return later to fix an air bubble. When they removed trim several spots had paint torn off the wall. So they sent in a paint crew to fix the damage they’d caused. It was touch up paint in several spots, but they charged us as if they had painted the entire first floor our house. Though I’m not sure why we were being charged at all for repairs for damage they did. They also left with two pieces of trim. When they sent in the third crew to fix the back of our kitchen island they replaced the trim and painted it the wrong color. Obviously wrong. Not even kind of close. But the crew said nothing. We discovered this when we came home and they’d already left. They also managed to get paint on our new floors. The painted the majority of our kitchen island, but not the cabinet doors. Because it’s high gloss paint, now the cabinet doors are a shade off from the rest of the island. They offered to come in and repaint the trim, but my husband and I agreed we would rather do it ourselves. Who knows what else they’d damage or how much we’d be charged for it.My husband spoke with the owner. We both spoke with our project manager. Our bill was adjusted in some places, but not others. Even after adjustments, our final bill was $4,000 MORE than our original estimate. Bottom Line: I feel we were grossly overcharged. The repairs they did needed repairs. I would never recommend them.

They replaced 30 feet of framed storefront window, 30 feet of brick wall, repaired 24 feet of dry wall within 60 days. Its the second time weve had a car drive into our store. We recently had water damage on our wood flooring and needed a refinishing job. Our insurance advisor suggested that we talk to Repairs Unlimited, which we did.Aaron Widhalm of Repairs Unlimited came right out. He fully outlined the steps it would take to do the job and how long we would have to be out of the house while the new finish dried, etc.Everything went like clockwork with the subcontractor (who did the actual work), but Aaron was there every step of the way, keeping in touch with us, looking at/checking on each step like the taping off the rest of the house, checking on the floor while it was drying, and telling us when it would be safe to be walk on it again. He even came clear across the metro area of Kansas City to put a panel back on the dishwasher, which the stain team had forgotten (I suspect the stain under that piece had not yet dried), but Aaron saved the day, as I could not see how the piece fit, nor get to it. He came out within a day or two after I called, and reinstalled the piece. In short, the insurance adjustor had said they use the company on a very high percentage of its repair job, and after our experience, I can see why. Our repair job by Repairs Unlimited was excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend them, or use the company again on any other work I need and they might do. I certainly would also hope that Aaron would be available to oversee the work and advise us. Allen Kenton.

Sean came out with people to board up our home and protect what was left. my wife talked to Sean all of about 5-10 minutes, then came to me and said she wanted his company to rebuild our home. i was skeptical to say the least, but after talking with him and seeing him in action helping us with immediate needs and problems, i began to think she might be right. after all, she most usually is. i say this after 20+ years of marriage. RUI is the best choice we could have made. they came in and explained what needed to be done and why, helped us navigate thru insurance problems, helped us with many code upgrades that our 60+ year old home needed, all while they were putting up with me questioning nearly everything they did. i really dont think any other group of people could or would have done as good a job as RUI. we are truly thankful to RUI and Sean,Ryan, and Joe as well as all the many people they brought in to rebuild our beautiful home. if your devastated and lost after a loss similar to ours RUI are the people to bring in to help you turn the corner and get back on track.

This company was referred to me by USAA for a sewer backup claim repair back in December 2017. On the day the work was supposed to start the contractor Tony did not show up because at the last minute he decided to reschedule for a bigger job. I was unaware because Susan sent me an email that morning. I called USAA and let them know the company didnt show up and USAA called Susan with me on the line. Susan had Tony come by noon but he had a fierce attitude, he didnt speak, just walked passed me in my home and never said a word. I noticed in the month of March, three months ago, that there was a problem with the repair and she came to my home to see it herself before she contacted Tony to come back out and make the repair. I needed an additional job done and I texted her that it would be best to have Tony contact me by text for the repair related to the claim which they were paid for. She texted me these words, She is freaking crazy, I am not taking that job and I emailed others and warned them. She must have thought she was texting her contractor Tony because in the text disrespectful to me, she sent a prior text addressing Tony. Needless to say I left messages with the company and asked for a manager to return my call. I also called USAA again because Repairs Unlimited were paid by me to fix this claim and they have not repaired a significant part of the claim and because of this there is a gap between my subfloor and my carpet and my sofa leans into the gap and sits at a slant. Please be aware of the project manager Susan-Gilber Holloway who called her customer, freaking crazy, and this was after she physically saw the defect with the work her contractor did. Tony was also supposed to come fix the problem last week but he never did. But he and Susan are not welcome back in my home and I will not request service from this company in the future. However, they still need to make the repair. I am a young, single, black female and maybe they feel its ok to treat me subpar but its not ok and I will elevate the issue if the repair is not made tomorrow, which is Friday.

I highly recommend RUI and specifically Susan Gilbert-Halloway and Ryan Steen, From the very beginning of our major house fire on New Years eve 2017, RUI was a life saver. Sean Szarwinski showed up in -19 windchill on a holiday to help us board up our house. The firefighters highly recommended them and I am thankful for that recommendation. From Day 1 after the fire RUI cared for me, walked us through every step we needed to take. During the process Susan was a life saver and even helped us in managing our Insurance company as she has that experience. Every person I interacted with was professional and helpful. Susan always communicated what was going to happen and backed it up. Ryan helped on the back end and was incredible. We just got the keys to our house today and I have to say I could not have been more happy with the results. I HIGHLY recommend RUI. It was an amazing experience during a crappy traumatic time of my familys life. Thank you RUI!
