Based on reviews, my wife and i decided to use Houston Pool Renovations to replace our aging plaster along with our tile and pool light. We chose a plaster with quartz. Unfortunately, the plastering crew seemed to rush the job. There is a very noticeable streaking to the quartz, such that you can see the strokes the installers made and there are large areas where the quartz content is lower than the rest of the pool making it look splotchy, the floor is uneven with high and low spots to it that cast shadows on the rest of the floor when illuminated by the pool light, the walls are also uneven. The work through the corners and around fixtures is especially bad. There was plaster splattered on the tile and covering some of the tile trim on the bench. They failed to drain the equalizer line which led to immediate staining. That crew also broke the drain valve cover in the decking without replacing it and sprayed plaster approximately two inches thick in three areas of my lawn. The tile workmanship is okay, most areas are fine, however, there is an especially crooked tile that was somehow overlooked. The pool light installation was fine, though the plastering around its housing pretty rough. We brought up our concerns to our project manager, we were told that daily brushing would clear up the streaking and he asked for the final payment. Daily brushing did not clear up the streaking, nor fix any of the other problems. They did sent a warrantee crew to address the staining and the plaster splatter. We were told the plaster in the lawn would be addressed and an owner would inspect their work personally. Neither of those things have happened now two months after completion.I really wanted to like this company and had every expectation of satisfactory work, but I can not recommend them. The original pool workmanship was far superior to that of the Houston Pool Renovations. I regret having used them.

Houston Pool Renovations recently remodeled our 30-year old pool and they did an excellent job. We are so pleased with the results. Concurrently we had to correct some other issues with our pool/patio surface and landscaping, and Houston Pool Renovations worked closely with us to ensure that there were no scheduling conflicts. Their work was performed very professionally. They quickly responded to any questions or concerns we had. Brian Snoddy was excellent. Thank you to Brian Snoddy for a wonderful job with this project! We couldn’t be happier with the beautiful outcome. All tiles were cleaned as well as all stonework surrounding the pool and pool area. Once done all the stone work was sealed. It looks brand new. We also had the pool decking redone. We chose a custom lime coat overlay which turned out beautifully. Lots of labor for this part of the project but we loved the folks that did the work. Very professional and lots of communication throughout the entire project. You can’t go wrong with Houston Pool Renovations.

Completed a project to replace pool plaster, tile and coping. Had to closely inspect the coping installation due to their use of stone pieces too narrow to cover the back wall. After plaster was finished, the pool leaked 6-inches of water per day due to a hole in the plaster about the diameter of a quarter all the way to the gunite. Took them 4 days to plug the hole so the pump wasnt able to run and the fresh water turned green. This delay plus the weekend used up the 7-day startup period. They clogged the filters when vacuuming after construction job and left the pool with very little water jet pressure. They added acid and shock, but as soon as they left, there was no chlorine in the pool, no calcium, it needed conditioner and other chemicals. Their crew cracked the skimmer basket housing and said it must have been broken beforehand. The tile has grout streaks all over it. Plaster has several depressions so when walking across the bottom, you can feel round thin spots. Rushed everything and then asked for payment. Upon making a complaint and requesting a refund of the start-up costs, they responded with text messages containing self-compliments on how good of a job they did. I guess this is consistent with our project managers own 5-star review of himself below along with someone else with his last name recommending him with a 5-star rating as well. They think theyre really great.

We recently used Houston Pool Renovations to resurface our pool, replace our pool lights with LEDs, install an automatic water fill, and move our Polaris line to a more convenient location. We worked with Kevin and found him to be very knowledgeable and responsive to any questions or concerns we had throughout the project. He was also very quick to take care of a couple of little kinks that needed to be worked out after the work was completed and the last payment was made. I think that says a lot for these folks. I can’t say enough about the Wonderful experience we had working with Houston Pool Renovations. We were looking at a pool renovation that included re-leveling due to one end of the pool settling Over 3 inches on one side. With some research we opted to meet with and get bids from three different companies and reviewed each one carefully. Houston Pool Renovations provided clear options at different price points to meet our needs and budget. They were responsive to our questions and came out multiple times to walk through the remodel options.Tod from Houston pool renovations was extremely helpful in helping us understand the bid, the various options we had, areas where we could reduce costs without compromising quality and made recommendations to enhance the overall project such as different accent tile for the steps that didn’t add cost but looked great. Tod was there every step of the project and communicated with us regularly on the progress. He insured we didn’t spend money where it wasn’t needed; refreshing! The project was completed both on time and on budget. We are extremely pleased with the results and highly recommend Houston pool renovations for your project!

We hired Houston Pool Renovations in June 2020 to resurface our pool, and bead blast and seal our rock and tile. One day before starting, we were told they would hot start instead of acid wash to expose the quartz despite what we had researched and been told by Jared. Jared admitted he had never done a Marquis Magic Natural finish and was unfamiliar with the process. Post resurface, our pool looked like white plaster. Jared said the brown quartz would come out. We let him know there were other details we wanted to discuss with him – splatter from the plaster on our rock wall, coping and tile; trim tile covered by plaster; and missing hardware. When we hadn’t heard from Jared, we asked when he would be coming. He said he had already been, and yet hadn’t texted or rung our bell, despite the fact that we work from home and had said we were eager to talk to him. When Jared finally came, he agreed that the resurface did not match the sample we had selected, but that no one else had ever had a problem. (He had never done a pool with this finish.) He was frustrated we were not satisfied, and condescendingly said they could drain the pool and do the acid wash now, but that it had never been done because no one else had ever had a problem. We agreed to give it time for the acid and brushing to show the surface we had paid for. In the meantime, we learned from the product manufacturer that a traditional acid wash is recommended for all MM colors including Natural, and not hot start. We also learned that although we could drain and acid wash now, it wasn’t recommended because combined with everything that had already been done, it would reduce the longevity of the plaster. The bead blast process didn’t remove the plaster splatter. We contacted Jared several times, and were finally told he would send someone. We asked him to let us know when. One of our rocks also cracked during the bead blast. We asked if he could recommend someone to fix it; he said he would send recommendations but would not send anyone else on his behalf. We were extremely offended by this response, as aside from the plaster crew, we thought all of the contractors had done good work. We even recommended some to friends.Despite requesting notice, the crew that came to clean the plaster splatter arrived unexpectedly. Fortunately we were available, but because it had just stopped raining and everything was wet, it was difficult to show the problem areas. The crew was nice, but when everything dried, we were shocked that our flagstone now had acid stains and sandpaper scratches. There was also still white splatter since it had not been possible to see wet. Knowing what we know now, we are glad to have minimized the damage. The next time we heard from Jared was a text asking for final payment. We hoped we could discuss our concerns with someone else and left a message for Kevin. Two days later Kevin responded that Jared would call us. A week after that Kevin called us. We explained everything that had happened and our disappointment and frustration, including communication with Jared. Kevin agreed that many things could have been done differently, but offered no additional solutions other than draining the pool and acid washing it now. We said we had learned this wasn’t recommended now, and should have been the original process per the manufacturer. Kevin said things are done differently in different parts of the country. We sent him pictures of the damaged flagstone and though he responded that they could replace the damaged stones (he never came to see how many were damaged), he didn’t recommend because of the variations it would cause; or they could seal it, which may make it look better; but that he recommended we just leave it because it didn’t look too bad. We realized an amicable conclusion was not feasible. We are incredibly disappointed in the outcome of our resurface and customer service from HPR, and don’t feel comfortable doing additional work with them.

We have never worked with a pool renovation company that was as professional as Houston Pool Renovations. Tod Danielson was our project manager and was in touch with us every step of the way, visiting the project, letting us know what to expect, answering all questions, and giving thorough instruction on how to properly manage the pool during startup. Customer unable to post their own review due to not being on Social Media but he wanted us to share this one...From EJ Gilbert (10/2021):In 2005, my wife and I had a therapeutic pool built for her to use for aquatic exercises for her back problems. She really loved that pool and used it for many years. I used it too, mostly just to lay on an air mattress and soak up some sun. In 2014 her back problems and health started to worsen. I started losing interest. I tried to maintain the pool for a while, but it just got to be too much and I let it go.For about six years I did nothing to the pool but let it sit. The pool had black brackish water and the spa had algae growing in it. It was a mess. For reasons too lengthy to explain, I finally decided it was time for a major renovation.I ended up calling Houston Pool Renovations. Brian Snoddy showed up and gave me a quote for a complete, near new renovation. I knew it wasn’t going to be cheap. We were talking major, major renovation work including replacing all the equipment – pump, filter, heater, etc. The clean up work, the new plaster, new pool lights, everything.Brian got on the job. You should see what my “new” pool looks like. Just like it did when it was first built. I am so proud of this pool.Good work, Brian. Anyone that needs some serious pool renovations, or any kind of renovation, needs to talk to Brian Snoddy. He’s your go to guy.

We were able to meet in the middle and get exactly what we wanted. We went out to the design center and were able to take our time and really see/feel the different options. ( Lucky for me, my husband ended up loving some upgrades I didn’t think we would get!😊)The workers, who came out to resurface and retile, did a wonderful job. Work was done in a timely manner and was well supervised. We have been so happy with the finished product. I built a new pool this summer with the help of a professional consultant ( UBI Backyards) and I acted as the general contractor for my pool. I was undecided about what type of finish I wanted for my pool. When I called Pool Works they were very helpful and set me up with an appointment at their showroom to discuss my options.I met with Kevin and he showed me samples of the different finishes they offered and was very knowledgeable about the pros and cons of each finish. I supplied him with a copy of my design and he was able to quickly work up prices for me. I decided on the Wet Edge Satin Matrix finish in Aqua Blue for my pool and the Wet Edge Primera Stone finish in Azure Treasure for my hot tub. I decide to add the crushed abalone shells to my finish for a little extra sparkle in my pool and I am very glad I did.We had to adjust the install date once due to weather slowing down other phases of the build. The install crew was prompt and professional and the process was very interesting to watch. They took extra time to protect the area around my pool including my fence, home, garage as well as the the tile and the coping. The day after the install they sent a crew out to clean up the slush pit, acid wash the finish to expose the aggregate, power wash the tile and coping to get any extra plaster off and to start the fill up process. I must say they did the BEST job cleaning up after themselves out of any contractor I hired. They used two chemicals (pool tec and beau tec) to help control the plaster dust and ensure a quick and easy startup. This was essential to the process and helped me be able to swim weeks sooner than I would have without the chemicals. We did have a slight problem with one table sleeve being set unlevel. I notified them and was contacted by them almost immediately and they explained my options and we set a date to have the sleeve drilled out and reset. They completed this repair today and its 100% right :)Everyone who comes over to swim is impressed with the brilliant Wet Edge finishes and the quality of the plasterwork on my pool. I am very impressed with Pool Works in every possible way & highly recommend them to anyone looking to plaster or re plaster a pool.
