Mark is an incredible barber and a pleasure to talk to. It’s just him and overall is a really awesome experience in a cool trolley car. $23 men’s hair cut and he shaved my neck line and around my ears with a straight edge. I didn’t realize you could only pay cash/check and only had a $20 bill. He said I could just pay him what I owe next time I come back! Even though I went to the closest Chase and got the rest of the money and went straight back - the fact he was willing to trust me meant a lot. If you want an amazing haircut for a stellar price - Mark is the person to go to. Apparently he has been cutting hair at that spot for over 30 years and I see why he has such loyal customers.Note: it is just him so be sure to call ahead and make an appointment (and actually show up).I know he has my business from now on and I would highly recommend him to anyone else needing a fresh haircut!

Mark sees two generations of my family, taking care of my dad and my husbands cuts. They always look great. As a picky female I would say his work is exceptional. To top it off, it’s a pretty cool red caboose and Mark is a pretty cool guy. Keep up the good work!

Absolutely the best haircut experience Ive ever had. I went to Mark with hair below my shoulders and left with a majorly dapper do. Super personable, fast, and talented. Marks the only barber, and hes got one chair, so make sure you set up an appointment. The premises are worth mentioning: Its an old red rail car!

Marks great. Im pretty particular about most everything, and its hard to find a decent barber these days. I tried about 3 different places when I moved to town, but after I came across Mark I havent gone anywhere else. I was surprised the first day when I wasnt able to just walk in, but calling ahead isnt a big deal, and most of the time he can do same day. I also wasnt used to paying quite so much for a hair cut, but its totally worth it to know what youre getting every time.

It was a nice 5 day break from shaving as we were in the Texas Hill country over the July 4th holiday! I was looking forward to a nice hot towel, old fashioned razor shave & Mark James did not disappoint! Great conversation at no added cost! The old red caboose off Kirby Dr. is the home of Marks Barber Shop. Whether its a haircut, shave or both, step back in time and seize the moment! I give this a 5 Star experience & rating! Cant wait to do this again!

My experience was nothing less than stellar. I was very lucky, Mark had a spot at lunch time. I live across from his place but had never been because my barber and I go back 15 years however she is in Austin. Mark got me on the calendar. He was there any ready when I showed up. Within seconds he understood what I needed. He executed it with ease, and professionalism. Mark has been doing this for quite a long time, and it shows. His chairside manners were excellent. The cut he delivered super and it was as if he knew me all my life and read my mind. When I told him I didnt bring cash with me he was like ahhh pay me later. I went to an ATM and got cash and paid him in a few minutes. He was nice, courteous, gregarious and overall a nice gentleman. It made me question, why I still insist on going to my hairstylist in Austin. Excellent in every way.

A few months ago I got an extremely bad haircut in Pennsylvania. About one week ago I went to Marks barber shop in Houston where WAYNE worked on my hair. After telling him how I wanted my hair cut he ignored my wishes completely. This was the worst haircut I have ever had in my seventy years of life. Then he had the gaul to charge $23 for this mess. I understand the high price as he butchered my hair and not cut it.

Probably the best haircut Ive ever had, and he certainly worked hard for it, too. He looked very effortful, concentrating hard as he worked, not casual and chatty, although certainly respectful.
