Oh man where do I even begin! The Crystal Ballroom was the most beautiful venue. To this day, we have multiple guests letting us know how much in awe they were. Our coordinators were Cassidy and Emily who were absolute rock stars. We had to reschedule our wedding due to covid and it was SO easy to work with them for that transition. They honored the original prices and were always available to answer all my ridiculous-bride questions. On the day of, oh man were they so professional and thought of it all! When the groom and I ate, they ensured we didnt get any food on us and also had a drawer with so many backup supplies we may have needed (hair spray, bobby pins, etc). Through out the night, they always ensured we had a drink in our hand and had the time of our lives. They took care of us from beginning to end, and I cannot be any more grateful. Thank you so much Crystal Ballroom team!

Street smell bad , a lot of homeless hanging around the entrance, and the food has no seasoning blend flavor. Not impressed that all

We had a wedding reception at this venue. The service and professionalism was so impressive. Everything was coordinated by staff and the evening went smoothly!! Such a great staff with attention to detail!! Cannot recommend them enough!! The wedding coordinators Emily and Cassidy are amazing!! As well as the other staff who assisted!!

The Crystal Balroom is a beautiful space for events. The staff was friendly. Valet parking. Access to an outdoor open space as well. Clean bathrooms.

Everything was great ... beautiful & the service was very very good ...The only thing that was bad were the. chairs... very very hard...

What a lovely venue. Attended a wedding here, and the setup was a one stop shop for the ceremony and reception. Additionally, the staff and their service was wonderful, and the venue itself is tastefully decorated with crystal (obviously) lighting and ceiling murals. As an added bonus, the venue is surrounded by some of Houstons nightlife, and a short walk will lead you to many different options.(If they wanted my suggestion though, Id remove the cold daylight lighting from your chandeliers and use a warmer tone!)Great place for anyone looking to host a wedding or any other formal event!

My husband and I went here for an event. It was absolutely beautiful! The cielings were high up with ornate scroll work and paintings, as well as nice intricate details in each part of the hotel outlining its history. The staff was friendly and the accommodations were wonderful! They have a bar that leads off of a balcony that gives you interesting views of the bustling street below. Only downsides we had were there were a lot of staff standing around talking in huddles, and the catering for the event was terrible, low quality food. I do not know if the hotel prepared it or the caterer was brought in, so I am not giving less stars due to that. Those two things can be a symptom of an off night, so I cannot fault the actual hotel for that without being sure. Otherwise, we had a lot of fun in such a lovely environment.

I attended a New Years Eve party at the venue. I was impressed by the space which includes a large balcony with nice downtown views. I think this is the perfect place for a special event - the ambiance and the architecture cannot be beat. Tip for event attendees - uber or you’ll have to valet your car. Parking in downtown is notoriously difficult.

JFK spent his last night on earth at the historic Rice Hotel. This ballroom is probably the oldest ballroom in town still operating. Ive played a lot of great shows and events here. The ancient mural on the wall overlooking the room is so fine. And the balcony overlooking 3/4 of the streets below is wonderful.

Their audio system didn’t function properly during our annual event. We came early for dry run of the event and found out that they don’t have any idea how to turn on speakers. Even their mic didn’t work during the event. We had a folk dance group performing but they couldn’t finish their performance due to the malfunction in the sound system. Organize your events somewhere else!

Attended an event here on Halloween night and was pleasantly surprised even upon walking into the hotel. I had never heard of this venue before yet it is very conveniently located in the heart of downtown. The hotel lobby has character and you can see the Crystal Ballroom from below. The actual Ballroom is on the 2nd level and while somewhat dated, it is taken care of well and has a vintage/historic charm. The venue is open and airy with a beautiful balcony along the length of it. The restrooms are upscale and clean. The passed appetizers were plentiful and I did not have to hover outside of the kitchen to find some. Not to mention how tasty they were! I would definitely recommend this venue for a larger event.

Applied for the Crystal Ball Room as a server and the hiring Manager Nichole was supper nice...real down to earth person that understands and listens what you are going through. Thank you for thinking of me and offering me position even though I was not at my best! Yall are awesome as a team and I will Always wish well!!

Beautiful setting for a wedding.

We held our annual gala which is a signature event. The audio system gave us a trouble whole night which turned our event a partial failure. The major issue is the miscommunication amongst their staff. Some promises were made and they were not done. They did not have a technical staff during the event, it took them 1,5 hours to get to a temporary solution. Do not recommend the venue.

Like mist places in downtown Houston, ir is very difficult to find a place to park. The valet service was very slow and disorganized. The ballroom had an old smell. The carpet may need to be replaced or shampooed. The catered food was very tasty and the portions were generous.

There were 3 main and huge problem of the night!SOUND SYSTEM!! - It is so old and not updated. There were missing cables. And there were literally no sound system between 8-9pm, during presentations and dance performances.CREW - They really didnt communicate, they were not with us when we needed.DINNER - The food was not fit for human consumption!!! How can Sambuca serve this!

Im giving this one star as I was here for a wedding this past Friday. I went to dance with the wedding party and left my blazer on the chair with the exception that it would be there when I returned. However I returned to the table to find my blazer was missing. I immediately approached staff and inquired about my blazer. Staff advised they had no knowledge of the whereabouts of my belongings.I followed up with the events coordinator; Katie. Who explained that she is unaware as to the whereabouts of my blazer. She did not seem concerned that a customers belonging seemed to have just vanished while attending one of their functions. I expected she would at least apologize for the incident

I went here for a wedding. The venue is very nice. There is an awesome balcony with great views. The attendants at the front are very courteous and friendly.

Absolute dream venue. I loved Jamie, she took GREAT care of us the entire evening of our wedding. Stunning atmosphere and great people.

Kocich wedding was very nice 2day but it was the staff that made it 2day they were johnny on the spot 4 what ever u needed. Have not been 2 a wedding with wait staff that was as attentive as the staff was 2night, they earn there money. Thank u 4 a great evening.I know they were pleased with yall

Went to a wedding here. Good size ballroom, but not my style of decor.

My fiancée and I had an appointment with a lady, (short, blonde hair, speaks extremely fast) who I believe is/was the manager, to hopefully book the Crystal Ballroom for our wedding. The lady who was showing us the ballroom and the surroundings was terrible and unprofessional. She rushed us everywhere we went. She took forever to meet with us. We waited for over 30-minutes and the front desk person even stated that she likes to take her time. She was rude and didnt answer our questions. She talked over my fiancée. She was a total nutjob. And the best part, she didnt care that we werent pleased and even stated that she doesnt work for Rice Hotel but rather works with Rice Hotel for booking events and could care less about our opinion.I hope other couples have had a better experience.

Guess tend be inconsiderate about others wanting finger foods needed more monitoring. Otherwise was very elegant

First venue tour my fiancé and I went in and I was SO excited because this venue was always my dream to have my wedding in. 1) Front Desk was extremely unprofessional and when we asked questions he didn’t know the answers to any and made us google then. 2) We had an appointment with the coordinator and we waitied 45 min and when we were FINALLY helped the coordinator was RUDE! We were rushed, and I felt that she did not care about our experience. By the end of our tour I could not bite my tounge any longer. The hotel is beautiful but the event planner ruined my image of this hotel.

I had an appointment for Saturday at 1 pm. I got there at 12:52! I wasnt for sure if I was at the right location so I called to make sure. I called 11x and left voicemails and no one picked up the phone! So I parked on the street in front of the location my GPS told me the location was. I got out the car to ask the man (who was standing outside the location) was I at the right location and that I had an appointment with someone to view the venue. He told me that parking was $10 & if I wanted I could park down the street where parking was $12-15. I told him that the person I spoke to 3 days ago told me that she would show me where I can park for free & just to call her when I get outside but she wasnt answering. He said okay you can park here but you have to come back out with the person or it will be $10. I walked in and when to the second floor and couldnt find no one. So I when back downstairs and asked the lady at the front desk. She tried calling but no answer. So she said she would go find someone but she need to do something for someone else first. I said okay. I waited for about 15 mins before I decided to leave. When I was driving off she came outside and told me she found someone who could help me. So I decided okay Ill go back in. I told her about me having to pay for parking. Then she told me it would be free because I was viewing the venue. I when inside then she said the person was doing something and if would be a 15 min wait. Around 1:45pm (passed 15 mins) I decided to leave. As I was waiting for my car a lady came out & introduce herself and apologized for the wait and told me that if I wanted to still view the venue she would show me. So I said okay. We viewed the venue but she couldnt/didnt have pricing available. She said and I watched her email someone about contacting me on Monday for pricing and to go over different packages. Today is thrusday and still no call or email. So I was like (this venue was really pretty & I really wanted to know the prices). So I called decided to call. The lady told me that the venue could HOLD 150 people but could only SEAT 75 people. I said how does that work? She then put me on hold and never came back to the phone!! So thats why I gaving them a 1 🌟. Because its only KINDA pretty...and yes I want a pretty venue but a pretty venue with BAD customer service and phone reception is something I dont want to deal with over the next year or worry about on my wedding day.

Communication between the management and staff is horrid. manager decided to give several tours while there was another event happening. Inexperienced staff was being hired while the other was trying to compensate. all in all no matter how the location its self is, if the event cant function as it should then they just shouldnt have events here. or hire people to run it better
