I’ve had long hair for about 7 years and finally made the decision to get my hair cut. Naturally I was nervous about who I was going to have cut my hair. I walked into Phil’s Barber to find the owner Joe who greeted me. I had booked an appointment a few weeks out as his schedule was packed. I got real lucky with a last minute cancellation and returned just a short while after. He look his time to wash, wash and re-wash my hair before my cut. He took his time and knew exactly what I wanted without me knowing exactly what I wanted. He’s a real artist. We shared stories about each other and after about an hour, I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. I’m thrilled about my new hair and will definitely be going to for my regular visits.If you are looking for a clean, professional, modern, friendly, punctual place to get your hair done, there really isn’t a better place. I don’t usually write reviews but for this type of exceptional service and attention to detail, I’d write this Barber/Salon and Joe more reviews if I could.Thank you Joe again and see you in a few weeks!

My appointment was canceled, but they failed to notify me and I only found out when I showed up for my appointment. The receptionist told me that they tried calling and texting me to notify me that my barber no longer works there, and asked if they had the right number in their system. I’ve been going to this barbershop for over two years and they’ve called me before without problem. That leads me to believe that they simply didn’t even bother to contact me. I would have preferred if they have just told the truth. It’s a shame because all the barbers do good work. I don’t like being lied to, so I’m taking my business elsewhere. BTW - if anyone is looking for Jordan or Stephanie, they went to The Cutlery in Kaimuki.

Got this amazing skin fade by Stephanie! Great conversation, really amazing attention to detail, and she was very easy to work with. She also taught me about my hair and what direction it grows in and how to style it with those things in mind! Highly recommend!

This shop is Great. Good vibe, very professional, and Jordan has amazing attention to detail. I asked for a slight adjustment towards the end of my cut, and he gladly altered it even after brushing me off and cleaning me up. You definitely get what you pay for here. Very clean too.

Phil’s is the best barbershop in Oahu. It doesn’t matter who you pick, you’re going to get an awesome haircut. It’s well worth the price. Even if you have to go on the J Salon side, you won’t be disappointed. Joe Randazzo has built an incredible team and salon.

I dont go anywhere else- easily the best haircut Ive ever received anywhere in Hawaii. Prices are very reasonable given the level of excellent service. Today I had the absolute pleasure of scheduling and receiving a haircut at Phils Barber Shop in Honolulu. From the moment I searched for what other barber shops pretend to be, I found Phils to be a customer oriented place. From their seven days a week schedule to their really handy last minute appointment feature, this shop knows how to provide top notch service. I arrived twenty minutes earlier than scheduled and was cheerfully greeted by Monet, the expert barber who proceeded to give me the best haircut I have ever had.The precision cut, attention to detail and hot towel service sets the standard for excellence island wide. While other trendy shops are pretending to be a gentlemens barber shop by offering booze and obnoxious loud music combined with a blaring TV fixated on anything considered a sport, this place sticks to what they know best; excellent customer service and quality hair cutting.The austere hard wooden bench and the plain low grade lumber shelving is a disservice to the well planned eclectic black and white historical photos and grey tones that give this shop a sophisticated feel. Proper storage space seems to be an oversight in the design of the interior of the shop where an entangled mess of cords hang in plain sight. These items alone are what keeps this shop from being first class all the way.If you want a quality symmetrical precision haircut this is the place for you.

Always an amazing experience. I love going there- staff are professional, courteous, and friendly. My stylist (Kennedy) seems to intuitively know exactly what style will look best- I’ve never been disappointed with my haircuts- and I’ve consistently received compliments from family and friends. Two months in a row they didn’t trim properly behind the ears & left long hairs...Regular cut is $14 so make sure you have exact amount because if you hand them a $20 like I do every month they’ll just say thank you & walk away..., yeah you have to chase them down to get your change!!The guy didn’t even finish the job & some how he thinks he deserves a $6 tip, No Way sir goes too fast to do a good job...

Once again phils barber shop delivered. (WHY DID I EVER LEAVE glad to be back). I had left Phils to try other barbershops in the area searching for that right hair cut but was never satisfied . So I decided after 2 years to return to Phils and I was not disappointed. Monet is the only barber I will let touch my hair and beard. Ive never gotten so many compliments on my hair before. Melvin is a great stylist! Loved going to him. Great hair service and appreciated the tea and cookies each time. The salon facility though is lacking booster seats and stools for short people at the shampoo station. The bathroom hand dryer leaves water on the floor which could be a safety issue at some point.

Catherine has been cutting my hair for over 20 years. I moved to the mainland a few years ago and come back just so she can cut my hair. No one has even come close to giving me as great a cut as Catherine does. I have really thick hair that is hard to cut. Catherine knows exactly how to cut and style challenginghair like mine. I always walk out of the shop feeling great! Im so grateful that she will always fit me in even if Im just here for a few days. I highly recommend her

They were very accommodating, getting me in on a very busy Spring Break weekend. I don’t often pamper myself, but with some encouragement from my wife, did. I was not disappointed. A very relaxing and friendly atmosphere, and the haircut and straight shave was well done. It’s a little expensive, but they have a quote on the wall that sums it up nicely- “a cheap haircut is not good, and a good haircut is not cheap.” Thank you for making me look good for at least one night! 😊👍

This is the best salon in Honolulu, with the best hair professional in Hawaii. J Salon is the right setting for Catherine Acena. For years, she has been widely known for her style, her creativity and her technical cutting and coloring skills. And J Salon is a beautiful setting, brightly lit, well-designed and very well-run. I would not go to anyone else and Im very happy Catherine is here because it is a great place to come.
