Today was the first time I’ve used Salon U in a long time (due to distance, not quality or anything) and I love it! They scheduled me an appointment as soon as possible to fix a haircut from another salon that I was unsatisfied with. Not only did James fix the issues that I had with my hair, but he made it better than I could have imagined! His service is friendly, professional, and he is a super talented stylist! I 10/10 recommend Salon U, especially James!

I came here for my first salon experience after getting a good recommendation from a customer. I was set up with Chuck, whom I was told was one of their senior staff. From reading the website, I understood this meant that his services would be more expensive. Thats fine because I wanted to be able to brainstorm with an expert and leave with a new cut that I would love. I needed advice more than anything. I had no pictures.Chuck was a delight. He kept good conversation and listened as I described what I was looking for cute when down and easily maintained. Maybe layers He confirmed how short I was willing to go then went to work. The shampoo was wonderful. Everything smelled so nice and the scalp massage was a surprising bonus. Back at his chair, we discussed work, life, etc while he worked. I was given soft layers with a curly and a straight option and although I told him I really didnt care what my hair would be like up because I wear it up for work, he framed my face with the hair in the front and it looks cute up and down! Bonus. I love my hair! I will be back to try some color and to maintain this cut. The cut was $65 and I spent $30 to get the same mouse used to style my hair. Overall, I had a great experience that is worth the money.

Jason cut my hair. He did great. I have trust issues from a bad haircut and usually cut it myself. Also, I dont prefer cookie cutter stepford wives 2020 cuts and that can be difficult for some hair stylists. I described what I wanted and he did great at achieving the cut for me. And he used a straight razor for the fade on my neck, which I cant do at home, so.. Obviously, Ill be back.

Excellent salon, very health conscious, and my stylist is awesome. Face masks are required, they took my temperature as soon as I checked in, they had a health questionnaire I had to complete. They limit appointments to maintain social distancing, and the staff constantly kept things disinfecting. But the stylists are great and I recommend it to anyone in the Birmingham area that is interested in an excellent salon. My stylist was Leza Duncan. Shes a wizard. Love her.

I was nervous about getting my hair done in this Covid-19 season but the team at Salon U did a great job with ensuring everything was clean, masks were on and they processed me very timely.My stylist was FANTASTIC! She did a great job on my hair and didnt pressure me to buy more products or do anything I hadnt already planned. My hair was exactly what I wanted when I left. She was friendly and kept the conversation flowing.Highly recommend!

Taylor is great! He has helped me bring my hair back to life as it was so damaged from the person I was going to at a different salon before. He helps me keep my hair healthy while also helping me have a beautiful blonde. If you’ve never been, I definitely recommend asking for Taylor when you make an appointment!

I came here for the first time a few weeks ago to get a balayage color treatment. From the time I walked in to the time I left, I had a wonderful experience. I was super nervous because I have never colored my hair before, but Taylor made me feel extremely comfortable as soon as I sat in the chair. Since I have naturally black hair I didn’t want any blonde or very light tones. And he understood exactly what I meant. Yes, the price was steep. But I am very happy with the way my hair turned out. It’s been a few weeks and the color is still vibrant and my hair is still soft (I was scared it would feel dry and brittle afterwards).

@salonu especially @hairbyjoshua always creates an amazing and fun experience. The outcome of my hair, is always vibriant, gorgeouslAnd more than i expected! Joshuas apprentice is amazing too. I forgot her name and she gave me an amzing blowout. Some of the curl from the style she did fell out b4 pics. Thanks guys great start to the weekend @salonu

A really great place! It was my very first time going and Im always a bit nervous when its a place Ive never been, but they were so nice and welcoming! I got my hair cut by Chuck and he was so amazing, he did a super cute pixie cut for me and I love it! I definitely will be making this place my regular hair salon.

I got in the day I called. Im new to Alabama so I didnt have a hair stylist or salon that I was familiar with. I do now. The front desk staff are fabulous Chuck was fun to work with, he gave me a whole new look which i adore. The salon is gorgeous. I cant say enough good things.

So great. I went there after receiving a horrible haircut yesterday at a different salon. I called Salon U this morning to see if they could help me and save my hair and my sanity . They got me in later the same day. Chuck made miracles happen. I LOVE me new cut. The salon is gorgeous, beautiful furnishings and art and i was offered a mimosa as soon as I walked in. This was my first time at Salon U and it is now my new salon and Chuck is my new stylist.

Salon U has been great. Chad has cut my hair twice now and cant wait to see what he does with color on my next visit. The cut has been very manageable and stylish. He knows how to work with the type hair a person has and make the most of it. Its a pleasure not having to worry that your cut will turn out right. Highly recommend Chad and probably most of the stylists at Salon U.

Just went here for the first time and was very impressed! This place treats their clients well AND know what theyre doing! I had Christy do my hair and she is amazing. Asked me exactly what I wanted and did an excellent job on my hair- I love it!The staff is really attentive and courteous. The place has a really clean and overall welcoming atmosphere. Its very much an upscale salon that doesnt break bank- the best part was, I paid exactly what I expected to. My biggest salon pet peeve is when they try to sneak in services that cost extra. Being a college student it was important to me to know what I was paying ahead of time and they were very good about not adding anything that I didnt want to pay for. I still got an awesome cut that was worth every penny.I highly recommend anyone looking for a good, affordable place to try it out. I will definitely be going back!

Started coming to Salon U recently. I have been to both the Homewood and Midtown Birmingham locations. Staff is great at both locations. Very personable and attentive, offer refreshments. Got a smoothie at Sprout and Pour, so I got a haircut AND lunch! Rachel Mann is the best. Listens to what I want and to my gabbing when I come in. I have received many compliments since shes been doing my hair. She keeps my color and style on track. She has been patient when Ive done my own trims. Really easy to schedule appointment. Shell work with you. Highly recommend her.

Great place everyone was super nice. Didnt have my hair done 100% like I would have but still good job. They only thing that is keeping me from giving it 5 starts is the price. I have never in my life been charge over 40 bucks for a hair cut. Let alone charge theb70 I was charged for my cut tonight plus tip. Didnt have a wash or my hair styled after the cut. Just had my hair trimmed removing dead ends and thats bout it. I think for that 70 is just kinda bit much.

I met Ryan Taylor years ago when he was still in school. He has done my daughters hair and my hair--we have followed him. He is excellent with color and extremely conscientious about his work. He is great and I love the salons space.

Amazing service from the time I walked in the door until the time I left. When you book an appointment if you want your hair colored you have to say that so they can mark out the time. This is in response to the guys review that said he was told to come back for the color. If you didnt make an appointment for color of course they told you that you would have to come back. Thats common sense. Ive talked to so many people that are clients here and have been for years. Everyone loves this salon and Ive never left feeling anything but happy, relaxed and rejuvenated.

I absolutely love this salon! Im a client of Scott, and he makes my hair absolutely stunning every time. Ive been to several stylists who have a hard time being punctual, not here! Im in and out in a timely manner, and above all, my hair is lovely every time. Scott is always in tune with what I want, and gives me great tips oh how to fix and care for my hair. You should definitely let them shampoo, they use great Aveda products and massage the stress right out of your scalp! Everyone who works here is courteous and polite and make me feel very welcome and comfortable. If youre thinking about switching up your hair game, give Salon U a call and book Scott.

I found it based on its excellent online reviews, and I had my hair cut here regularly during the two years I lived in Birmingham.After each haircut, my stylist Meaghan explained the products and techniques she used to style my hair so that I could repeat the process at home. I left with a great haircut and the ability to restyle my hair similarly on my own. In my opinion, it was worth the cost.

Chad did my hair today and he is not only a fabulous hair stylist he is also an amazing guy. I swear I felt like Ive known him for years and he gives the best scalp massage Ive ever had in my life. I left feeling sexy and sassy with my new cut not to mention completely relaxed and rejuvenated!!! It was a great experience from the time I walked in until the time I left. The front desk employees are so nice and its a genuine niceness, unlike some area salons where the employees give you fake smiles. You can tell everyone in there is happy to be there. They may have great stylists, but must not have a clock. I had a 9:30 a.m. appointment, for which I arrived on time. I was sent to a room upstairs with my glass of water and told my stylist would be with me shortly. 15 minutes later, no one had spoken to me, and only one person had even walked through the room. In my work, if I am going to to be 15 minutes late for an appointment, I am expected to let the person I am meeting know. Lack of communication is rude. I also understand things happen to create unavoidable delays. Again, communication is key. I left. I hope that gave the stylist that was supposed to see me at 9:30 a chance to catch up and hopefully be on time the rest of the day.

I live the vibe at Salon U. The staff are all so nice and the space is fantastic. Beyond that I have been going for the past two years and absolutely love my haircut and color. I look forward to seeing Christy C every time I go. My hair looks great all the way until my next cut. My color is fabulous and I love aveda products. I cant say enough about how much I love Salon U.

Along with the having the best stylists in birmingham theres also this amazing modern/trendy vibe to the place. I definitely recommend them and my hair has never looked better!!

I booked an appointment with Fran a month in advance as I had heard some great things about her. I got a call two days prior to my appointment saying she wasnt taking new clients. I am so dissapointed as I was really looking forward to my haircut. I could have gotten my haircut elsewhere, or when I went to Atlanta. I waited a whole month and they ended up cancelling last minute. I was offered another hairstylist, but no thanks. My hair is very important to me and a lot of research went into choosing someone new. If you are not going to take new clients, then all your staff should know. This is very unprofessional and poor customer service. Never going to this place.
