An Alaskan friend recommended Maverick Charters to me for a trip I was taking my father on, and seeing as how he is also a licensed Captain, my expectations and standards were pretty high. Add to that, my plan was for 3 days of charters to really give my dad the full Alaskan experience. Captain Eric on the Julia Lynn totally blew us out of the water! We did the Halibut only, Halibut and Salmon as well as the multi-species trip…and I can’t pick a favorite because each day was spectacular. Captain Eric’s knowledge about EVERYTHING was phenomenal. Literally everyplace we went we had fish on before the last line hit the water. He operated the vessel with the utmost diligence to safety as well. Mate Spike was awesome!! We hit our limits of fish EVERY DAY! The guys really made sure that everyone on the trip had the best possible experience. There is not a single thing that could have been better. My goal was a dream trip of a lifetime for my Father and because of Eric, Spike and Maverick….that dream most certainly came true. I cannot recommend anyone that could ever come close to these guys.

We went out with Capn Daniel and Chelsea for a salmon rock fish combo. There were 4 in our group and two in the other. We had a great time and would have given 4 to 5 stars if the boats starboard engine water pump hadnt gone out and if we didnt end the trip early... We had the opportunity to limit on Kings and left the spot to fish pinks and rocks.. After catching pinks and throwing most back we quickly switched to rock fish. We had the opportunity to all limit on rocks then was told we needed to end for the day.. The trip was suppose to last until 4:30.. We landed ashore before 4... I felt we lost time while the Daniel was picking up parts to fix the pump and we ended early.. Not sure the reason why... The crew was awesome... The experience was awesome... The fish is delicious.. We just felt like we didnt get what we paid for....

Had the best time doing a half day halibut fishing with Mavericks. It was choppy water but we all felt comfortable with the captain. Would def recommend using this service and will do so if I am ever back in Homer.

Top drawer operation from efficient and friendly reservations, quality of the trips and results, as well being extremely organized and fair in regard to weather related cancellations. I have had 2 great trips with this company and had third cancelled due to weather. We were given options from modified trip or full refund.Boat crews are friendly, knowledgeable, responsive, and know where the fish are. Equipment is very good, boats are clean and well prepared.This company is a class act start to finish. Thanks for a great time!

Maverick Charters did a great job making sure everyone on the boat had a fabulous time. We caught enormous fish with the help of Captain Eric, who was witty, friendly, and experienced.

Maverick charters goes above and beyond. I went for rockfish and halibut with Capt Dan and Chelsea. The day was filled with fun and fish.Capt Dan was beyond knowledgeable and polite. He took the time to teach and show techniques that worked. He even stopped the boat on the way back to allow me to limit out since I was still a halibut short.Chelsea was amazing. She was fast and efficient when bating hooks and switching out rods. I was impressed with her skills processing the fish as well. She made sure she took everything she could while filleting.If I could recommend 6 stars I would.

Booked a charter on the Ultimate with captain Billy and his crew Chey and Grace. Absolutely amazing. 4 adults and 4 kids. Kids did most of the work - seriously. Lots of fish and non-stop action. Kids are all completely addicted to fishing now. Weve been on fishing charters all over the work and it really doesnt get better than this.

OMG Eric is a rock star of a Captain and a business man. It was exciting to see him get excited as we had a full day trip for all species. When he said lets go fishing for Salmon, or Lets go fishing for Halibut you could hear the excitement in his voice. He catered to us hand and foot, including a full coffee pot on the boat (THANKS!) His first mate did the job and when we got to the dock it was the most painless transfer of fish to the packing company I have had. WELL DONE! OK One BAD POINT, he made us return the two mermaids we caught. Sheesh.

Captain Eric’s mullet is getting more dense this year and rapidly approaching singularity. At this trajectory it will be the most massive object in the Kachemak Bay and known universe.

Wonderful day on the water with Captain Eric and Brett. Eric told us in the morning that we’d be up against some unfavorable weather, but he took us to 4 different “spots” and stayed out with us until each person caught his/her limit. We opted to use one of our small halibut for lunch - Eric kindly filleted and grilled it up for us! Delicious! On our ride back Brett filleted and separated the fish. Couldn’t have asked for a better day - we highly recommend Maverick Charters!

We put our 17yo kids, Kylie and Gavin, on the Outrageous with Captain Dan for the multi-species trip. They both said it was the best day of fishing theyve ever had--and theyve done a LOT! They said Dan and Chelsea were awesome and they wished they could have gone more. I would HIGHLY recommend!

Chartered fishing trip with Cpt Daniel and crew woman Chelsea, best charter ever. Cpt Daniel knew his boat of course but knew the area and knew how to put us on fish. Chelsea was absolutely great, always there to help and always had a smile. Caught limit on halibut and salmon, even a 50lb (approximate) halibut.

We went on a combo trip with Eric and had an incredible day of nonstop action! We caught halibut, king, silver and pink salmon, yelloweye, black bass, lingcod and greenling. It was a fantastic day and we all really enjoyed your company Eric! My aunt and uncle are a little older and he was so accommodating and helpful in making them feel comfortable and successful. Awesome team and experience! First time deep sea fishing with my son.

We rented out the entire boat “Ultimate” for a wedding party, and had a great experience.We lucked out with the sea state, but even if it had turned bad, Captain Billy let us know to keep an open dialogue if people started feeling bad.No one did.We started out by catching our limit of halibut, mixed with a few rock fish and silver salmon.Then, when we had just a few tags left, we departed for a slightly calmer nearby bay where the Captain let us know the fishing would slow down but the big berthas liked to hide there- and sure enough after about an hour of watching the local mountain goats climb, we hooked into a 68lb linker!On the way back in we saw orcas, sea lions, and got to watch the skilled and friendly deck hands, Cheyenne, Grace, and the British kid (sorry we forgot your name!) fillet our catches as if they could do it blindfolded- and we ended up with 300lbs of fish! The only downside is the bill when you go to have that much fish frozen and shipped home, but we will be eating happy this winter for sure!

Absolutely incredible experience! I knew it was going to be a great time but had no idea of how incredible Alaska fishing would be. Had Captain Doug and Cheyanne and they made the trip! They were so enjoyable and we slayed fish in a slow season! Halibut and King! This is the boat and crew to take but the entire company seems so nice! From setting up the trip last minute to finding somewhere to ship the fish for a year home. I can’t thank them enough for one halibut trip!

We absolutely loved our fishing charter with maverick. Capt Dan went above and beyond. We started out fishing for rockfish and all caught many before moving on to fish for halibut. We all caught an over 32 inch halibut. I left the pole sitting while jigging with a rubber bait and ended up with a 36 inch lingcod. What a fight on the lighter tackle. We then all fished for salmon which was absolute madness and all caught our limit before heading in. I ended up going home with 98.6 lbs for filets in 1 lb packages for my partner and I combined. If I was ever to do a charter in Homer again, hands down would pick this company.

Between my 8 year old daughter, 70 year old father-in-law and me, we make a pretty weak fishing team. We still managed to bring home nearly 180lbs of fish AFTER they were gutted and filleted. This charter completely blew every other charter we have ever been on clean out of the water. Captain Eric is a train marine biologist and former commercial fisherman and was able to answer a barrage of questions we couldnt even find answers to on Google.

Had an excellent day out with Dan and Chelsea! Only drawback was processing all of the fish! Highly recommend going out with those two.

I am SO happy we found Maverick Charters. We booked 2 days with them while in Homer. It was my parents 50th wedding anniversary, we had 13 people with us. We booked the large boat for a private charter for all of us to fish together on their anniversary, and then a 6 person charter on July 4th with some of the group that wanted 2 days of fishing. First day was with Captain Billy on the Ultimate. It was very windy and other boats had already canceled or turned around which left us worried. But - Captain Billy, Grace, and Chey were absolutely amazing! We caught 19 halibut that day (and probably lost a few based on our own excitement) That team worked so well together, it was fun to just observe them communicate without talking and move about the boat, navigating around all of us. It was impressive. They made the day so special for us. Grace and Chey then filleted our fish on the boat ride back - which was also impressive to watch. If you have enough people - book this boat and fish with this team!Day 2 - we were with Captain Daniel and Chelsea on Outrageous. A group of 6 of us went halibut and salmon fishing. I dont know if we could top day 1 but I think they did it! It was spectacular! It is impressive at how hard the team works and moves and ensures we always have rods in the water - especially while salmon fishing. We decided when we come back again - this is the charter we would want - a halibut and salmon mix. The day was calm, the sun was out some, we saw whales along the way - and Captain Dan put us on the halibut fast! I felt like we all caught our overs in no time, and moved on to the next spot to catch more. Salmon fishing was intimidating at first but it was an absolute blast. They moved fast to keep us fishing and lines in the water - we were able to land 2 king salmon and 10 pink and have stories to tell for years! My Dad had so much fun watching us all run to our lines when a fish was on.Overall, we are so very thankful for this Company, this Team, for making our trip so very special. They knew our names in no time flat. Captain Billy even remembered my Dad and his name when he came back a few days later and saw my sister in law at the spit and talked to her too. Genuinely great people doing a fantastic job. We were blessed to find them. BOOK WITH THEM before you cant! (and if you can buy the boat out or fill the boat up for a private charter - I would recommend it - but that is just our preference)

Definitely a 5 star experience. Cap’n Dan and Chelsea were first class and took a great deal of pride in ensuring each of us caught our limit in halibut and rockfish. We were bonused with a large cod catch, intentionally added by the captain.Chelsea crushed it with her endless well of energy; in constant motion throughout the 12-hours on the water, we first learned she wasn’t Superwoman when we caught her briefly yawning (gasp!) as we approached the harbor at day’s end.The only suggestion I might add would be to ice all the fish. Although the day was cool, some of the fish sat in the cooler a long time without ice. As a consequence (in my view), the choicest part of the halibut (the cheeks) tasted a bit fishier than we expected, after we put them on ice for the trip home, before enjoying them that evening. Other than that minor, post-catch handling suggestion, it was flawless.I’d definitely recommend Maverick to anyone who will listen - outstanding experience overall!!!

Captain Eric and First Mate Brett were fantastic! Despite the wind, they took us to a calm cove and we enjoyed the beauty of Homer, Alaska. They were great with the kids and I would highly recommend using them

My wife and I went on winter King & crabbing on 27th October. This is our first ever winter King fishing trip and the whole experience could not have been any better. Captain Doug and co-captain Faith were outstanding. Everyone on the boat had their limits and with weather cooperating it was a very fun experience overall. Would highly recommend Maverick for all your fishing needs in Homer! 😀

Great fishing trip. Couldn’t be happier with our trip. Clean boat, big and safe, awesome. We booked them blindly and they were great. Captain Dan and Faith were so fun. Friendly with everyone, patient with the kids and they saw to it that everyone caught their fish. It was awesome. We will only book with these 2 again.

Billy and Cheyenne were our captain and deck hand today for a 6 person outing and they were both outstanding. Billy was amazing at getting us to the best spots for halibut and rockfish and they were both extremely knowledgeable fishermen. Cheyenne has such a fun and welcoming personality that she will make anyones day on the boat regardless of how many fish you catch. Both were super hard workers and definitely top notch at their jobs.

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Dan and Faith were so awesome! They got us on some great halibut fishing and were so fun and knowledgeable. I highly recommend these two and hope to come back to fish with them again soon!

By far my BEST experience out of the spit. Dan and Faith really work hard to make sure everything was professional and efficient. Believe me it was not an easy day. Screaming winds ,pouring rain, and swells couldnt keep them from putting us on halibut, kings,silvers and rockfish. Ive been on many charters, and these guys are top notch. In fact I was on another charter this week too and I saw the difference between PROS and PRETENDERS. Ill spend my money here every time. Thank you so much to those two for having a passion to give the customer and great experience. Its apparent they have a passion for fishing. Best wishes and see u next season hopefully

Excellent charter! We did the full day halibut and the crew and the captain were amazing! The captain made an extra stop on the way back in to make sure everyone on the boat got their limit! It was also awesome to have two female crew members hauling the fish on to the boat!!! Great job ladies, you rock!

I very rarely rate things. But I was so not happy with charter. I didn’t want someone else to pay $$$ and not have a good experience.I would NOT recommendthis company at all. The captain (Eric) was very rude, condisesedinq and impatience . Was really mad when ppl thought the fish were were on and weren’t. Seriously yelled when u missed a hit. I guess everyone should know all the things he knows cuz thats why we CAME to Alaska! The captain really didn’t want to be there. Hurried us to catch our quota and wanted everyone to get 6 pink salmon - (easy stuff and the food for dogs) Didn’t even try for silvers or Kings. Hurried out and back. Don’t use this charter company- find someone that enjoys their job. Really disappointed! Only reason I gave it 2 stars was the deck hand was very patient and tried to help everyone.

Went out with Capt. Eric on a halibut/salmon/rockfish charter this week. Amazing experience! Eric and his mate Brett worked so hard to make sure all aboard caught their limit! Their management of the whole process was incredible - very organized, professional and knowledgeable. They went above and beyond! My husband had beginners luck and actually caught a 140 lb halibut and a king salmon.

Captain Eric worked his butt off to get us our halibut limits. I would absolutely go another charter with them again!
