We just got back from our trip out for halibut today and we had a fantastic time! Captain Pete, Cori and Sela were so friendly and helpful. Our whole boat caught their limit. This was the first time fishing for halibut for everyone in our group of four, and I can’t wait for my next trip out with the crew! I hope they’re all still working with Bob’s next year because I’d love to see them again!

I have gone out on the Nauti Lady several times now but this past weekend I was just a little disappointed. We had a completely full boat with 17 passengers making things very tight. They had all 17 of us fishing one side of the boat and let me tell you this boat is not big enough to have 17 people all fishing the starboard side. We all caught our limit which was great but had a lot of tangled lines. I will say the crew was amazing, Captain Pete and Cory and Sayla (not sure if spelled names correctly) were amazing and worked their tails off to handle all of us. Captain Pete also found Sea Lions, Goats and a large pod of Killer Whales on our way out and back, that was breathtaking. Wish they would cut the maximum number to 14 or less or add an extra deck hand and allow more spread out fishing. Overall I would still recommend Bob’s over anyone else in Homer. All crew are super knowledgeable and experts at what they do. I haven’t ever seen anyone clean and fillet fish faster than the two young lady’s we had.

We had a great time with Bobs fishing charters. The water was wild but the fish were on! The Captain was fantastic and the all female deckhand crew rocked it out. These ladies had some hustle, good knowledge, and were so much fun! I went as a fill in for my family member and did not intend to go halibut fishing- but I had such a great time and had so much fun with crew and other on the boat. Captain found a humpback for us to watch as a bonus! The had Homer processing meet us at the dock- they portion and cyrovac, froze and package our fish like pros for a reasonable price! I will be to fish with Bobs again.

Pretty disappointed with their handling of a situation this morning... Was sick overnight with food poisoning the night before my trip, and wasnt well enough by the time the boat was leaving to go out for a full-day charter. Showed up to the office at check-in time to let staff know what happened instead of no-showing. The gentleman in the office was nice enough and agreed if Id been sick they didnt want me on the boat, but refused to offer any sort of refund or credit due to an illness. He explained it was because the boat was full and they had had to turn business away for my seat, except that was a lie.Up to the afternoon before (a few hours before I got sick), I was the only person scheduled for a full-day salmon and halibut combo. Late that afternoon my mother-in-law got a notification that Id been moved last minute (she paid for the charter as a birthday present to me) to another boat because no one else had scheduled for the full-day combo. They moved me over to a full-day halibut and refunded the difference in price, which is fine, I understand they have a business to run and sending a 30 boat out with only 1 customer doesnt pay the bills. That simply shows that they didnt turn any business away for my seat as it was the end of the day when the decision was made. When we went to the office to let them know I wasnt medically fit for the trip, we werent necessarily looking for a full refund or even any refund. Had they offered a credit towards a charter at a later date, that would have been fine and actually would have profited them more. Coming back later would have had me bringing more family on the boat with me and paying for more tickets. Instead, they collected money for a service that wasnt provided for a medical reason and *at least nicely* said they wouldnt offer anything in return.Dont recommend, wont be back. There are numerous halibut charters that put customers on fish easily as well as Bobs.In response to business response, yes, there was an offer for a 3/4 day trip tomorrow, but similar to you not being being able to sell a seat last-minute, others cant always drop any other obligations to change something. There was no offer for a voucher or credit to be used later in the season during a time that works for everyone. I have a hard time believing you were completely honest about turning business away for my seat when it was the end of the day that it was changed. Hope that few hundred bucks was a high enough profit for dishonesty.

We loved our crew on our Halibut charter out of Homer but they allowed way too many people on our boat. Our group all spent over half of the time with our lines tangled with someone else’s because we were packed in so close to each other and across from each other. Half of our group didn’t even catch their limit because it was so chaotic. We’ve been halibut fishing several times and this time was very frustrating. The small crew did the best they could but it was a little crazy. I would highly recommend the crew with A LOT smaller group.

I was finally able to do my dream Alaska vacation that included this fishing trip. We were fortunate and picked the Ocean Predator for our long range fishing trip.Tyler was the captain and you could tell he really knew the area and kept us on fish all day. I had complete confidence in his ability to get us safely through the dense fog in the morning. He was on the spot helping to show me different techniques for hooking those halibut behind the chum slick.Ryan was doing the rigging and helping with tangled lines that happen on every bottom fishing trip I have ever been on. My wife could not get over how patient he was with her and no matter how bad things were knotted up, Ryan never lost his cool and was always ready to help out. I was amazed at his ability to perfectly fillet the fish while underway. As an avid fisherman, I could see Ryan took pride in his ability to leave no meat behind and have clean fillets.Between my wife and myself, we came home to South Carolina with 67lbs of fillets. The freezer is full and we have a memory we will never forget.

We came all the way from Tucson, AZ to catch fish. We had a great experience with Bobs Trophy Charters. I dont how they determine which boat you go on, but we were on The Spirit with Faith, Scott, and Captain Ross. The crew was great! Ross stayed out longer than expected to ensure everyone caught their limit of halibut. I would highly recommend this group!!

Sometimes plans don’t go as they are supposed to. The swan lake fire in 2019 derailed our hopes of catching halibut in Homer. We had previously booked a trip with Bob’s trophy charters. When it became evident that we would not be able to make our trip, we were devastated. We were unsure if we would be able to get any kind of refund for our trip. After speaking with a representative from Bobs trophy charters, we were able to get most of our money back from our trip. It is nice to see companies that are understanding of situations beyond anyone’s control. Small businesses are the heart of our nation and things like this fire hurt them as well. I was overjoyed that Bobs trophy charters was willing to work out a solution that everyone was happy with. I’ve never had the opportunity to fish with them but if we ever get a chance to book another trip, it will be with Bobs. Customer service means so much! Thanks again!

My brother-in-law and I went out on this charter and were very happy with our experience. The fish that we caught were not very large however they were plentiful. We could not keep the Halibut off of our hook. We were extremely tired at the end of the charter which is a great problem to have considering that were catching fishing the whole time. The captain was great and went to multiple spots so we could all catch our limit. He also went to different areas to see if we could catch larger halibut. The captain was also very entertaining and you could tell that he wanted his guest to have the best experience they could have from his Charter.I would highly recommend this Charter to others.

My daughter and I booked a salmon charter here. We went out on the Nauti Lady with Captain John and mate Stormi. My daughter caught a 20 lb King (White flesh) in the first 15 minutes. Hours later I caught a 15 lb King. Aside from a small Rock Fish, we caught nothing else. The other folks in our party (a group of four) caught a decent sized Silver, and had one salmon get off the hook before it was brought to boat. Although it was a slow day, John and Stormi worked hard throughout the experience, seeking a great spot, keeping the lines rigged, talking on the marine radio with other captains - getting fresh intel, etc.. You really cant expect non-stop fish. Aside from the fishing, we saw sea otters, humpbacked whales, a glacier, seals, and a host of sea birds. If you have to have fish, I recommend the Safeway in Homer. But, if you want a fun experience in a beautiful environment with pleasant people, I recommend Bobs Trophy Charters. Thank you, again to Captain John and Stormi.

Trip date: 07/18/2019. Very bad service, classic bait and switch job. Based upon favorable reviews, we reserved and prepaid half day with Bobs Trophy Charters months in advance, there was seven of us. Arrived promptly at 10:30am checkin, told to go to slip for boarding at 11:30. At 11:40 no one had shown up ......not even Bobs Trophy Charter boat. However, Jackpot Tours boat was in the slip. 11:45 a deckhand shows and explains were not going with Bobs but with the Rainbow tour boat. The deckhand explained they wont be going out or boarding until about 1pm. Essentially a 2 hour wait.We cell called Bobs to be informed they changed our reservation from Bobs to Rainbow Tours and the Jackpot.Points to note:A) Bobs never, not once, explained to us before or at the time of checking that they could or would bump us from our reservation with Bobs. Despite several communications and including day-of communications Bobs never gave us the option to select an alternate provider, never explained that there was a possibility of cancelling our reservation at their whim, never mentioning that we were bumped from our reservation with Bobs to Rainbows Jackpot.B) At the time of our 10:30 check-in the desk lead us to believe we were going out with Bobs. Not another charter service. At that point in time, standing on the float, we either accept this change to the Jackpot and miss our one opportunity to try halibut fishing in Homer or we walk, with our gear and lunches, back a half mile down the street where we would have to press our disappointment in a fight with Bobs for money back. Hoping upon hopes that the day would work out we boarded the Jackpot. We had no idea what a miserable day awaited us with the Captain of the Jackpot....now known as the Stinkpot. The Captain of the boat looked and sounded like he was fighting a losing battle with the bottle flu. Standing in front of a sign that informs passengers that it is customary for each of the passengers to pay each of the crew a gratuity of $10-20 he boldly informed us that as paying customers we should Not use the unserviceable toilet (that frequently backs up, and makes for a mess to cleanup) .....but if we have to use it put all our toilet paper in a bag. Grumpy from the begnnning and throughout the day he was a real piece of work. I listened to him grouse and grumble all day. My only direct communication with him was when I called color and he came over to tell me that if I didnt keep the little ping pong paddle on my line I might not catch another and then I would be holding up the other people from getting back to the dock early....and Im not going to wait for you or anyone to catch your fish. A happy note that one. At one point he sat down on the deck bench and announced he was a little dizzy. Ill bet he was, he looked green, and he acted put out .......wanting us to leave our money and go away.Let me share a few observations upon the good ship Jackpot. Its a heap of repairs not completed, a genuine piece of floating junk. Its in disarray, slow and is the noisiest rattle trap Ive ever been on. A day later and my ears werestill ringing. On top of that the crew turned on the speakers and blasted some Mexican hot sauce music at a mind numbing level to be able to hear it over the constant roar of a turn of the century smoky diesel. The seat cushions were dilapidated, seating tight and insufficient for the number of paying customers. For heavens sakes, fix the toilet. The Captain screwed his two man crew, too. I doubt they made fifty bucks that day in tips, everyone just wanted to be off that wreck and away from Captain Grumps-a lot. Disheveled as he was wobbly, he was at the exit steps WITH HIS HAND OUT fishing for tips and trying to force a half disingenuous smile.Bobs did not respect or care for us, only our money. They withheld information, lied and cheated us. They gave us a day to remember alright. Sadly, one well never forget. 100% dissatisfied, never again.

What an amazing day fishing! Without a doubt the best captain and first mate. They truly make a dynamic duo. We booked a Halibut/Rockfish Combo on Tuff Stuff with Captain Cory and First Mate Mitch. The rockfish action was fast, fun, and very rewarding. Captain Cory got us right on the fish and Mitch kept us on target and ready to go while getting the fish in the box. Their expertise and knowledge kept us all going (the 6 pack included novice and experienced fishermen). Great explanations and demonstrations, switching up setups and tactics to meet the needs of all. Before long we all had our limit and it was time to move to halibut. Without skipping a beat this knowledgeable duo got us re-rigged and off to a very productive halibut spot. Again the explanations and demonstrations were excellent. They both went out of their way to help everyone on the boat which added to the overall experience. Mitch did a great job keeping everything ready and working with helpful tips and advice. We could not have asked for a better crew that truly provided every opportunity for all of us to have a fantastic time fishing. After several sets with success in almost everyone we again had our limit of halibut. Then came high fives, pictures, and some very skilled filleting work. Mitch you are absolutely correct, the rockfish collars were amazing on the grill (great tip and thanks for taking time to share a little known treat with us). The halibut cheeks, fillets, and rockfish collars were out of this world good on the grill tonight. Thanks again for an absolutely picture perfect day of fishing in Alaska. We would highly recommend a Halibut/Rockfish Combo on Tuff Stuff with Cory and Mitch.
