We have been on other charters before out of both Homer and Seward and this was by far the best charter we have ever had. We were on the patriot with Captain Drew and Chuck and went out for a full day for halibut and rockfish. The crew was very professional and very entertaining as well. Chuck was on top of it the whole day and had everything prepped and ready to go before we got to the fishing spots and both him and Drew were very busy while we were fishing because Drew put us on some great fish. Everyone limited out and it was not because we went to “chicken holes” as you can see in these photos. They really try hard to make sure you get into some good fish and it may not always work out but it’s not because of lack of effort. We will be coming back again in the next year or two and will definitely be booking with Alaska Coastal Marine. They do not disappoint!

Crew led by Capt Grant and deckhands James and Zoe showed us a great time today. I’m a seasoned halibut person they quickly shifted their talents to my guest who has never fished before - guess what he limited out first. I’m surprised with 20 or so fishermen no one had to wait for help - the crew was always there when needed. After 60 Homer trips in past 20 years I consider Team ACM top shelf.

Drew and Chuck are absolutely amazing! The patriot is a top notch boat; but they are what makes it truly special . They were professional, helpful, friendly and great to be around! Fantastic at their job and and they put us on fish immediately; coming up from Texas they are without a doubt a must fish with in Homer!

Last year we went with Drew on the Patriot for halibut and rockfish and everyone on the boat limited out, it was such a great time that we booked again this year for salmon and rockfish, Drew finds the fish for sure! Some of us even got a king salmon! Him and his deckhand Chuck were great, know their stuff and we had a lot of laughs. Drew stopped for us to check out all the wildlife, several humpbacks, orcas, sealions, even a bear. Im ready to go again! Well always choose ACM and Drew!

Alaska Coastal Marine provided a great trip. We took the half day halibut trip. The crew was amazing and hard working. Fishing was non-stop action and the crew handled the busyness tremendously. They made it more fun than it already was. Everyone caught fish and had the chance to go for bigger fish. Great trip, nice boat, and a fantastic crew.

Went out with captain Drew and deckhand Chuck. Absolutely wonderful to fish with. Great personalities and they knew their stuff. Put us on lots of fish, and they were flexible with their plans. Even managed to find us some whales when they overheard that I was interested in seeing some.Luck was certainly on our side, but I think these guys would be great to be out with regardless of the conditions.

Definitely a must do on any Alaska trip, but on our 1/2 day trip, the boat was overcrowded and understaffed which was extremely frustrating. Lots of downtime with tangled lines or getting help with fish. We did bring home some fish though-a delicious souvenir.

Used Alaska Coastal Marine two times while staying on the Homer Spit. The first was a half day Halibut Fishing charter. The second was the Seldovia/Wildlife Cruise. Both days spent with Alaska Coastal Marine were great. For the Halibut Charter, the crew was very fun, engaging, and had us on fish within minutes of arriving to the fishing grounds. After limiting out the crew encouraged us to get pictures with our catch before they started to process them out. Great day. The second trip the next day was equally fun going over to Seldovia. Very knowledgeable crew calling out and stopping for wildlife along the way, birds, sea otters, sea lions, etc. Great 3 hour stop in Seldovia for lunch and exploring, cool little town! Highly recommend Alaska Coastal Marine for either activity. The half day Halibut is perfect for families or those not interested in the full day trip.

Captain Drew and Chuck were great! Not only did the whole boat limit out on halibut and rockfish, he also stopped so we could watch whales, and when he spotted orcas we cruised over and watched them for a while. Just a great day of fishing!

We took the Seldovia tour on the Discovery. Victoria was a wonderful captain and a ton of fun. Enjoyed her wit, humor, and sharp eye to see the sights and wildlife we wanted to see. Emma took the time to explain the orcas we saw and what kind of family of orca they were. Madeleine was really great with our kids and simply excellent for conversation. We saw orcas, otters, seals, eagles, and puffins. We enjoyed a short visit to Seldovia and saw an historic church. The entire trip was excellent fun and I left feeling like I spent the day with amazing friends. It was organized and professional, but it didnt feel like a stuffy, inflexible tour.I could go on and on about what a great experience this was. Definitely loved it!

Went on this fishing trip on 7/19/2020 on the Patriot. 5 guys on the boat limited out on Halibut and Rockfish. biggest fish on the boat was 61 about 125 lbs. Captain Drew and Deckhand Chuck was very helpful. Even though the ride out to the fish spot was rough they put us on the fish. i will be going back soon

Im still in mourning for the loss of the completely fabulous Double Limit Overnight that Alaska Coastal Marine used to offer, it was the best charter ever! Capt Chris and Brooke set a very high standard of what I expect from a halibut charter crew. But, I did enjoy a half day (afternoon) halibut charter with Alaska Coastal Marine in the end of June 2019. I went in knowing it would be a busy boat and I probably wasnt going to score a barn door, but everyone in my party limited out. I am disabled and reeling up is painful and exhausting for me, so every time I go on a charter I make sure the crew knows I will need more help than the average fisher (I try to tip more than the average fisher also). Ive worked in the tourist industry in Alaska so Im accustom to employees being from out of state. BUT- if youre coming to Alaska to work on a charter boat, you should at least know the local fish that typically come up while targeting halibut and you should know the regulations for those fish. The deckhand on my charter didnt know the difference between a lingcod, Pacific gray cod, and Atlantic cod and had no idea that you cant retain a ling until July. Im not expecting a marine biologist, but thinking all cod are the same, and not understanding the regs are very different, is a problem. A few of us customers had to pipe up when he was attempting to pull something out his a** answering an out-of-stater. It is this lack of knowledge, being dismissive to clients, and his being generally, well, dumb, that reduced this charters rating to 3 stars. But, Faith, the other deckhand, was the one redeeming factor to bring back a star. When the bibs came on, she was amazing! I would not have the fish I caught without her. She had an amazing attitude, communicated wonderfully, and can fillet a halibut like nobodys business!! It may sound silly, but when youre on a large charter and they have 50 fish to fillet, it can get sloppy. Faith however, wasted no meat. Ive been an Alaskan and fishing in Alaska for over 35 years, filleting a fish is typically not noteworthy but she impressed! Faith saved the half day charter and Alaska Coastal Marines reputation with me.

I went out with Captain Dave on the Grand Aleutian. He really knew how to put us onto the fish and kept everybody entertained with his jokes. First mate Emily did a great job baiting the hooks, dealing to the fish and photographing us with our big Halibut and salmon
